I just got the EVO 3D but now I'm thinking about adding a line to my fam plan because this phone looks sick. I'm not sure if people already know about this but I figured I'd share, if you order through this wirefly or amazon deal ($149.99) you'll get a 23% discount off your monthly Sprint bill (23% comes off the plan before data FYI). If you want to check it out here's a link to more info

Im assuming you need a .edu email address?
Does this work anywhere? I have a family plan and I just mins ago ordered the phone though lets talk for $139.99, no activation. This seems like a better deal however. I do have an edu address.
I should add, i believe I'm currently getting 15% discount off the 129.99 so how does this discount work different when its not including the data?

The discounts comes off the $129.99 (everything data family plan) so it comes to like $100 and change a month plus $10 per phone for data.
That's pretty sweet that it's not just for students. Thanks man.
Do you get a discount off the $110 single everything plan? I thought I heard there are no discounts allowed on that plan?
I think that's the only plan that can't be discounted, the Simply Everything

You won't be able to stack the 23% on top of your 15% just in case you didn't know.

Your 15% discount would be replaced by the 23% discount... assuming you are able to get approved for the 23%.
The monthly discounts are applied to the BASE cost of the plan (before any "premium data" fees or other features are tacked on.

Ohh ok, yea makes sense, then you'd have like a $20 plan haha
What if you already have a discount on your account, will it just keep the higher of the 2, because it won't stack?
I have a 1500 minute Family Share Plan with 3 lines. Will I have to activate a new line, even if one line is eligible for an upgrade, to get the 23% discount?

As long as you upgrade through their Amazon Wireless Deal or Wirefly Deal, then you're eligible for the 23% discount. So no, you don't have to open a new line.

If you use the 23% deal it will cancel out whatever discount you already have on your plan and replace it with the 23%.

Tuesday evening, my wife and I upgraded and extended our contracts. Or, we thought we did. As it happens, however, the T-Mobile representative put through the contract extension but not the new Galaxy S IIIs. (We were to pay $79.98 for each 16GB phone; get a $10 monthly loyalty discount; and keep our 14% AAA monthly discount. The phones were supposed to be delivered no later than tomorrow (Friday).)
When the phones did not come today (Thursday) and I did not find a record of the phone upgrades at myTMobile, I called. Long story short, and I was on the phone for over 50 minutes (both talking and on hold), I accepted the following offer:
1. Two 32GB S IIIs for $79.98 each.
2. Free express delivery, most likely next Monday.
3. One month free service.
4. A $50.00 credit.
5. The same $10.00 loyalty credit and 14% discount.
I spoke calmly and reasonably. The T-Mobile representative was friendly and helpful. I infer her supervisor, whom she consulted more than once, was equally helpful.

I was generally aware of "Magenta Days." The T-Mobile representative told me, perhaps incorrectly, that only the down-payment on the Value plans is being waived. The 16GB phones, therefore, would have cost $400 each.In any case, after factoring in the two discounts I would have lost by switching, it seemed to me I was being offered a fair, indeed possibly a superior, deal.

I went through a similar situation, they upgrade the contract but then never do the phone, or they charge you full retail price. So then you have to call again and hope you get a good rep (they are about 1 in 5) who can help, most of the call center is clueless. So then they also need a manager to approve anything over $150 back to your acct. So, keep checking your mytmobile, you may end up seeing full retail price on there. Also check your data plan if you have grandfathered, they might mess that up too.
But I was honestly surprised, they appear to be fixing things as was originally agreed upon in the first place. So there are a few good people at the call center. (LOL, one exec brags about how he consolidated 14 customer support call centers down to just 2)
What? The phones will be free tomorrow? I just got mine like 5 days ago and I paid $200 before Mir. I wonder if I can get them to credit me the difference since in still in the 14 day return window?

Possibly but you can always return within 14 days and go to a different store and get the magenta days deal
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
There is some restocking fee when I asked before about getting something during father's day.
Is the Magenta sale only apply to Value plan? T-mo new policy is to call something "free" but they are only
talking about the downpayment. Their new scam is to relabel all phone pricing as downpayment and then
month installments.
So, yes the phone 20 monthly payments of $20 and a $150 down, you are getting $150 off, but still owe $400.
How long have you had that AAA discount? Is it grandfathered because that's not the AAA discount I got..

On Thursday I got an Email from Ebay that they are selling Smartphone for 25%Off w/2yrs contract... went to their website saw that it is actually BestBuy who is selling the phones. NOTE2 Costs $329.99 minus 25%. that comes to $247.49 + Tax... so i order a white one and they already shipped it out and i am gonna receive it on Monday....
This deal is good till November 8th 2012.. so any of you guys that are interested you can get it for almost $250+Tax either upgrade or new Activation.
Last week i bought a Titanium Gray Note (wanted white but didn't have it) from T-Mobile store $250 + full manufacturer price TAX that came up almost $300 with Value Plan that I am not happy.. i need to add two more line and if i do that i am gonna end up paying more that classic plans so that's why i was looking for a classic plan deal that i found from EBAY.
DON'T forget to add the Promo Code during checkout to get 25% Off - PromoCode: EBSAVE25. LINK to EBAY

if you are new to tmobile on the classic plan, switch to the value plan, pay your 200 bucks and you just got a phone for 450.
EDIT: I was thinking of doing this deal but I was just at Costco and they said they will get the note soon so I will probably just go that route and hope they have a price that is comparable, plus no activation fee.
Those two plans offered looked like garbage. I think you will be paying for it in the end.

you would just pay the 200 dollar migration fee from classic to value, as far as I can tell, costco nor bestbuy charge any etf other than the carriers etf. you still need to pay activation but you pay that pretty much everywhere except costco. as for the one month on the classic plan, thats a possibility, but still thats a 20 dollar difference for one month so still a decent deal.
Dang my main line with data isn't due for an upgrade until the 10th, two days after this promotion ends. I wonder if I could use one of my non-data lines to get this without adding Data to that line.

Same exact experience for me. I returned my Note 2 on Sunday after seeing this offer. I just got the email telling me it shipped. This is MUCH better than going the Value Plan route. With the value Plan you pay the $200 down and you pay $20 for the next 2 years. You will never see the savings in the value Plan because you will be paying for the phone each month, which will bring the bill to the same (or more) as a classic. I went over this option with THREE T-Mobile reps (the knowledgeable ones, not the ones from the Philippines) and they ALL said the same thing tome: It doesn't pay to switch to a Value Plan when the costs of the phone payments will put me at or above my current Classic Plan amount. #WINNING

the reps are brain dead, you will pay less because 4 months of the contract you are not paying the extra amount, and with this price, you will pay much less by converting to value plan, taking the 200 dollar hit and being done with it.

They're the same when it comes to the services offered and the requisite 2 year agreement. The only difference is the price and phone subsidies.
The idea behind a Value Plan is that you get NO subsidies when it comes to phones and so, T-Mobile passes the savings to you. On a Classic Plan, you can get subsidized prices for phones, and, as a result, you pay more month-to-month. Now you need to decide and do you research and see what is the better option for you.
In my case (I need 4 lines for a Family Plan, and I buy my own phones off Criaglist/Ebay, or up-front), the Value Plan was a better idea. However, if you need a phone and can get in on some deals, then the Classic Plan may be better.
It all boils down to pure economics, nothing is ever free, it's just these american carriers have brainwashed the public that phones are "cheap" and plans are "expensive". And that's why most Americans are tied for 2 years to a large wireless bill and aging hardware.
i saw that the galaxy s3 was going to be free with 2 years agreement so i decide to get it and just pay 200 to cancel the contract and put it on the value plan
Since I have been with TMO almost 8 years we have been getting IMO great deals on phones. "Loyalty" department calls it corporate discount. At the end of Oct. I replaced my wife's Mytouch 4g with an S2, cost me 126.00 shipped overnight with a 100.00 rebate. Then ordered my Note 2 for only 250.00 shipped overnight and it came with a 50.00 rebate. Yes we signed a new contract but since the Mytouch was a "warrenty issue" we only had to extend one contract and to top everything we chose which contract to extend. So with 2 new phones under 300.00 and a contract extention to June of next year. You just can't go wrong with TMO.
You do have to have a silver tongue and negotiate. I call it playing the "corporate game"
Going along with the post 2 up, keep in mind, regardless of your carrier, you're always paying for your phone subsidy. Carriers don't really make money on devices. Why do you think you get locked into a 5GB or UL data feature when you upgrade on a classic plan?
I like the value because you have more flexibility. If I want to switch to a 5GB with hotspot, I can do it any time I want. Or pull off data all together. Also, no bs upgrade fees, and when you're finished paying off the phone, it's done. Unlike the classic or any other carrier where you keep paying for it.
The value plan eligibility is changing so I'd check in the coming months if you're eligible to switch.. If you're interested.

If you plan on keeping your phone for 2 years, go with the value plan. It is very hard to resell a phone that has been purchased on the value plan until it is paid off.
There is never a scenario where the classic plan is cheaper than the value plan. Unless you call customer service and they give you a phenomenal deal on a phone.

Exactly. So with the big push to get customers on the value plan, which one do you think T-mobile prefers? They aren't going to try to get you onto a plan that will make them less money in the long run.

Actually lastnight when buying the new Tab 2 the Rep suggested that I move over to the Value Plan since we are buying there newest phones, and tablets. Also I learned that with the VP you can make payment arrangements on phone purchace's.

Umm, yea that is what I said. They want people on the value plan because you don't own your phone. If you don't pay your bill, the IMEI gets blacklisted and your phone is useless. On the classic plan, you own your device which is much better for people that switch phones often.

The only other scenario that's cheaper than a value plan is if you have a grandfathered plan. That's my dilemma right now. I'm holding on to my grandfathered plan as long as I can but I really want the Note 2 as well, but I don't have $500 to outlay up front even if I get it back as a rebate (which of course they'll try to screw over).
So I'm going to take a chance and call loyalty on November 16 to see what they can give me.

My bad, must of had my eye's crossed and T's dotted when I reading.
We are very happy with our service, lastnigh I bought the new Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 for 250.00 with a 50.00 mail in rebate. Unlimited data, talk, text, and hotspot for 20.00 a month
Let me ask you, you said your IMEI could get blacklisted for non payment. Couldn't you simply flash your phone and use another carrier or pre pay sim?

Value plan doesn't mean you don't own the phone. An EIP plan means you don't own the phone.
T-Mobile certainly can't blacklist phone you own ( ie Google purchased nexus 4) for non payment on a value plan. Best they can do is send you to collection for breaking contract on 2 year value plan unless you pay them the etf.

That seems like a fantastic price ($20)for unlimited data, talk, text, and hotspot. Are you sure that is what you are getting?
If it is, can you show which plan you are on? I want to see if I can duplicate the same deal.

On the Classic Unlimited with international text, discounted international to the phillipines, with 6 lines.
The Tabs data is usually 35 bucks a month. But again tmo dropped the ball on me. Earlier in the day i had placed the order and i paid 250. Cash. Well it was weird as i didnt recieve any text or email notifications. When i got home from i called and 1. They put in the numbers wrong and ordered the Tab 7" 2. The damn thing was on bo. I wasn't to happy so after 30 minutes with loyaty I got to a sells agent who hooked it up. He couldn't give me anymore discount on the phone as I am already on the "corporate discount" he did give me the plan for 20 bucks. Plus a 50.00 rebate form.
I did have to extend a full 2 years on the Tab as its an added line.
Last month my wife got her SGH-989 for 26.00 after 100. Rebate and no contract extention
Did I mention my monthly bill is under 300.00

Only overseas or in Canada. T-mobile and AT&T share an IMEI database now so AT&T will block it as well.

Yes, you are right. I was speaking strictly in regards to purchasing the Galaxy Note 2 on EIP and not using the value plan and BYOD.
Hey all its upgrade time, and was on my sprint page about to upgrade, and it stated that I would have to add an 'additional' $10 fee, and also there was an $36 activation fee
Is this a new fee (currently have a epic 4g touch SII wimax 4g plan with a $10 fee added on)
And what happened to not having to pay an activation fee if you did it online?
Did sprint change this too, or is it because I have an older heavily discounted acct?
After all the taxes/fees the 'upgrade' comes to $400. Might as find a used one I was thinking

The website is saying that you need to change your account because it doesn't handle or understand SERO. The fees aren't added until you activate the phone. Because you're on SERO, you have to buy the phone first, but don't activate it online. Instead call the SERO folks. It's either 888-876-8381 or 888-882-4030. I don't remember which one I use.
You won't have to pay the additional $10 fee (you already are), and you might be able to sweet talk them into eliminating the $36 activation fee.
Thanks for the help
They will take of the WiMax $10 fee and put the LTE $10 fee. It's the same thing basically, they just have different names for that $10 add-on. My bill didn't change when I switched.

Before I can say anything how much are you paying now a month? If your paying $40 a month then after you upgrade you will pay $50. No way around that. As for $36 activation fee, you will have to pay that. You may get it back once it's in your bill. Or you can call sero line and order phone and have them waive activation fee at that time. If you need sero phone number let me know or dial *2 from the phone that's on the sero account. Remember you can only upgrade sero phones at sprint store or over phone at sero department. In the end you should be paying $199 plus $36 activation fee and with taxes depending on where you live it should be around $247. If your paying $40/month then add an extra $10 from then on. Reason I know is because I just upgraded a phone for a family member on sero. Hopefully this helps. Let us know what you find out.
By the way, your able to update on the website if you log on with your sero account but there's a chance the system may screw thing up. Your better off going into a store so this way if things don't look right you don't have to go through with the deal.

From an inside perspective. Sero 500 is currently 30 $ a month for Dumb phones. To use a smart phone you have to be on the Sero Premium 500 that is 40 $ a month. As well all know there is an additional 10 $ mrc for Premium Data. If you are currently paying 50 $ total a month on a WiMax device and upgrade to an LTE device online it will mention the 10 $ mrc. The SOC code for WiMax vs LTE is different and one will be dropped when the other is added.
The only 30 $ a month Smart Phone plan out there on Sprint is the Sprint Wireless Advantage Club "SWAC" accts. Its the SWAC 500. It still costs 40 $ in the end because of the 10 $ Premium Data. But non the less its 30 $ a month for 500 Anytime Mins and Unlimited everything else.

okay this is the part that is weird, I have the $40 + $10 plan (500 minutes, unlimited data), and on my log-in page, it shows that the phone is $299 + taxes + activation for my ugrade
went to amazon and its $199 upgrade (of course I know I cant use that link to do a employee referral upgrade
the issue I am having, is my local stores are telling me that they can't even access my account I have to call in, due to my account type ( I was hoping to "reserve in store" so I could just pick the phone up, I hate waiting for mail shipments)
amazon will let me upgrade, but I always get concerned with getting my account readjusted, back to my referral account over the phone with sprint. I have heard people do it, but some also hit brick walls
guess I will call the sero line direct, and take a shot that way,
thanks for the help guys
Sprint is so arbitrary these days, made a few calls today, and now they state, on three separate calls that since I have a referral account that the upgrade price is $299, and even over the phone all referral accounts also require the $36 activation fee
I even brought up the $100 difference with amazon, and all three reps stated that the upgrade price differential is due to the difference in the monthly rate.
Maybe I am too nice or something, as I keep getting screwed by sprint reps over the last few months
I mean at that price and tax, its basically $400, local Craigslist is $500, why go on contract for only $100 savings
Sorry for the rant

My bad, I priced the phone at the amazon price. Your right about the sprint price of $299 for sprint. One way to get $100 off the price is calling retention and asking them for a customer loyalty credit. I've gotten that credit for my last 2 upgrades. This way at least it's technically only 199. Good luck

I understand your dilemma. I would just buy a gs3 on swappa.com or craigslist. Then wait for the announcement of the gs4 and use your renewal then. $400 is too much to sign a 2 year contract. Good luck with your decision.

Phones at that price on craigslist are usually bad or its too good to be true. When a gs3 sells higher than that I highly doubt a note 2 at 350 is legit.

So I haven't seen this type of thread yet, I was at my local Walmart and the tag was there but no phone, not even the dummy. It was listed for 198.88* and the * meant with qualifying upgrade or new agreement (2yr contract). I left there and dialed 611 and asked for retention to the bot operator. Once I got through, they wouldn't budge from 149 down and 20 bucks a month deal. I've been a T-Mobile customer since it was Voice Stream and the rep noted that, but still wouldn't budge. She suggested I go third party, but even at that route, I am not eligible for full upgrade until November. I have an old grandfathered family plan and I won't ditch it for the new plans just to get this phone, I'd buy a S3 before that happened. Anyway, has anyone gotten or found any better deals, Costco, Sam's (I didn't have time to stop in while on lunch).

In your case, since its a yera before you can upgrade, your best option is to buy off contract, waiting may have a drop in price, but how long to wait. At the rate Samsung has been releasing Galaxy series devices, it will be 6 months before we see the Note 3 or S5 lol. Wirefly may have deals, but third party seems to be an alternative. And if the sales rep is nice or want to make a sale, maybe there is some light at the end of the tunnel for you.
May I ask how much you are paying for your data now? Do you have any promotions on data, like loyalty/BtV?
I'm aware that the regular rates for data under the Classic is $20 for 2GB (cheapest one). If you were put on the Bridge to Value, I believe that goes down 50% ($10). If you also got a loyalty discount like me, it is $5; and actually, that is $5 for 5GB of 4G/LTE data for each line - this is the Preferred deal through the loyalty department.
I'm asking because when I tried to upgrade our phones (we haven't upgraded in 4 years), we would lose those promotions ($5 goes back to $20). If you already pay $20 and this won't affect you, then just buy it cheap at Walmart. If you do have those promotions like me, you should have the option online from my.t-mobile.com to do the EIP plan and keep your plans and services unchanged.
Hope that helps.

Costco is $199.99 for 2 years. Unfortunately they don't have them in stock nor will they know when. My guess is May 15th, when all the 3rd party stores receive stock (keeping fingers crossed). I am actually willing to wait this time, save over $400!

If you were asking me, my grandfathered plan is awesome, I got my wife with the $20 preferred android data plan which is unlimited data with no cap, mine was added later also at $20, unlimited with a 2gb speed cap. We have my faves still (free lol), unlimited text, 1000 family minutes shared between 5 lines currently, and after the wife and I added data for just us, our minute usage went from nearly 800-900 minutes use to maybe 100 give or take. Most of my connections and deals were always done via loyalty depart, back when all the reps spoke English and were easy to deal with.

So am I. Contract was originally expiring this month (May 2013). Called them back early March and thinking of quitting early, but offered some great deals (almost fooled me!) and I extended my contract (now ending 2015). There were some hiccups along the way, concerning how I can upgrade my phone and what was offered. After multiple calls the next few days, we ended up with what I think is a good deal.
So I have 4 lines on my account.
Classic 1000 Whenever Minutes - $60 (Shared)
Preferred Unlimited Texting - $15 (Shared)
Preferred Android Web (Unlimited Data up to 5GB of 4G/LTE) - $20 ($5 Each Line)
Add a Line fee - $10 ($5 for 2 additional lines)
Loyalty Discount = -$10
Corporate Discount = -$15
_______________________ TOTAL MONTHLY BILL: $80 + taxes. Not bad huh?
I'm looking at ~$2600 (include taxes) for my T-Mo service for the next two years.
Then I have to factor the cost of the phones. All 4 of my lines were using crappy old dumb phones. We haven't upgraded in over 4 years! So we got a Nexus 4 ($350), S Relay ($250), S3 ($300 total), S4 ($650?) = ~$1600. Now I just have to figure out how to lower the cost of that S4.

That's a good deal, I think I pay 90 for the wife and I, I just added a line for $10 for my son, and I split the bill with my parents, they just have voice lines with text and myfaves. Buying the phones up front and having a plan that is grandfathered and technically out of contract is where you save in the end. Follow the unofficial tmobile blog, http://www.tmonews.com/ good intel there and updated often.
Nexus 4 and S Relay were bought in Best Buy off-contract. I got them to price match. The S3 was bought through T-Mobile, as a new added line on my account for the discounted Classic price of $149-$50 rebate. It's been over 30 days so I plan on cancelling that line and pay the ETF of $200, which brings the cost for the S3 to $300. I am planning on doing the same with the S4, but the trick here now is patience. To be able to profit, I would need to wait on the price to come down. It is still $299 with 2-year contract. I'm not even considering places like Amazon and Walmart because of other complications. They also charge their own fees if you cancel early - this is because they earn commissions when activating or upgrading a carrier's phone, thus they can give instant discounts. BB does not have this policy (as of today at least).

Like I said, if buying the phones up front just to save a bit on the monthly bill doesn't save me a lot of money in the long run (over 2 years), then it's not worth it. Plus, it's not like everyone has $6-700 lying around to buy a phone for full price upfront. I had to find the cheapest good phones (Nexus 4 and S Relay). I am also adamant about keeping my current Classic plan and all the loyalty promotions and discounts. However, for my S4, I got them through the EIP. I paid the $200 down payment including taxes, and then $20 for two years. That brings the total cost to $680 for the phone.
I can't afford to pay that whole amount right now. It's too much. I gotta take the hit over 24 months. Now, I do have 14/20 days to see if there are better alternatives. one of which is that S3 approach.

T-Mo is strict with this new deal, $149 down, $20 for 24 months.... loyalty WILL NOT discount, it is what it is... :crying:

I had grandfathered plan at $20 for 5 GB and one option in the order page was to retain your plan as is - which I did. Do not know if they would maintain the $5 - $10 plans if you select that option, but it stated that no change would be made to the extended plan.
If that was the case, you get the best of both - 2 more years at the low rates and the phone for $200.
