V6 SuperCharger - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
I know I currently use this with my EVO 4g and it does wonders for scrolling speed and memory. Will this even be necessary for the E4GT? Maybe the 3g speeds but not sure about the memory scripts and kernels scripts.
It probably couldn't hurt but just wondering if you think it will even be needed (if you don't already run this with your current device YOU NEED TO!)

I know the V6 SuperCharger script did wonders on my CDMA Hero. I can't wait to upgrade to the Epic Touch on the 18th. Now only if it could be rooted by the time I get mine. (2 days prior to the release)

[Q] Where's EXT4 on Evo??

Hello Dev's...
I have both an Evo and an Epic. The Epic recently got ext4 and has benefited with a bit of a speed boost because of it. Is anyone work'n on this for the Evo? Is there something holding up the progress on ext4 for Evo?
Thanks,
LK
Epic uses samsung proprietary OneNAND driver that is closed source and handles leveling appropriately.
You can technically use any filesystem on the epic and it will be "safe" as the leveling is handled above the filesytem.
On the Evo its' NAND accessed through mtd system with no features like samsungs, hence the need for a nand safe filesystem - YAFFS2.
If you put a non NAND-safe filesystem on your evo (ext4) you run the risk of ruining your NAND early.
Good luck!
Thanks for the info Necrosan. Makes a lot of sense. I suppose I won't be work'n up that kernel anytime soon.
Thanks,
LK
if some1 makes a ext4 kernel id love to test it on one of my evos the epic and any other sam device still runs the risk of its 1nand getting harmed with ext4/3 etc.
Dude, I just wanna know why you have two flagship 4G phones on the same network... I mean, if you have the money, you can... but why? lol
my wife and i both have 1 and i have a extra one i use to dev on now. soon bout to get one for my mom and brother.
Was wondering myself why evo didnt have ext4. I myself have the evo and a epic and recently installed ext4, cw3 and no journaling mod. I do have to say that it makes a difference in speed.
According to a2sd, Ziggy's kernels have had ext4 support in them for a while: http://www.ziggy471.com/
@Bowlsnapper: I actually have 4 Evo's and an Epic. The Epic is get'n wiped and sold this week though. Long and Short of it... I had a 3g/4g data device=$60/mo... I decided I could blow the same $60/mo and get 2 Evo's, have 2 great 3g/4g devices with unlimited data + Wireless Tether and still have full phones w/ all the goodness Android has to offer.
The Epic was something the wife wanted to play with ( she'd had a Moment and thought the keyboard would be the bees knees ). She decided the Evo was better for her and switched back.
@PrFectOne: Thanks for the info... I'll have to do some more research before I decide to spin up ext4 on the Evo. I definitely don't want to cause pre-mature wear of the flash storage.
Thanks,
LK

i have an easy question for you experts out there!

now keep in mind i am the noobest of noobs in modifying phones. i have an Epic 4g and haven't even touched the surface on it's potential apparently from reading through this forum.
my question is (before i start doing anything else to my phone) what exactly does a custom kernel do for your phone?
also what exactly does a custom rom do for your phone?
I am currently running a rooted Epic 4g w/cwm and i am on the DK28 build.
what else does everyone reccomend for me to get the full experience from my phone? (in the way of a custom kernel and custom rom, since i am pretty affluent to most apps at the moment)
Well a custom rom is usually optimized for speed and responsivenes. All roms are different since devs usually put there own mods and thems in. Some are completely stock temed others are themed fully. Depends on what your tastes are. As for kernals they're usually overclocked and undervolted which means it'll be overclocked to 1.2 or 1.3 ghz and run at the same power level as 1ghz or less. Usually gives faster phone with beter response and overall speed. (Opens apps quicker) hope this gives a little insight. I'm personally running epic experience 2.0.07 and genocide kernal overclocked to 1.2 ghz.(not undervolted at 1.2 ghz only at 1ghz so battery suffers a bit). Waiting for next epic experience release.

that does help tremendously! i had most of it figured out but i wanted to be sure as to what they meant. i appreciate the help and i will be trying the rom and kernel you suggested!
No problem man.

Q: Issues mounting sd cards

Ok guys i have a few friends who are having trouble mounting their sd cards. One is with sprint except they are using an LG Optimus and the other is with AT&T using their galaxy s series Captivate. I know this is the wrong Q&A for this question. But no one will respond to the question in anoth forum. The captivate is fully rooted running the May 2011 version of cyanogenmod nightlies. The Optimus isnt rooted at all and the same issue happened. Does anyone know what could cause the phones to do this?
HTC Evo 4G CM7-nightlies180 + tiamat 3.3.7-no sbc + vipermod script + v6 supercharger script + 3G turbocharger script

V6 Supercharger

If you guys know what V6 supercharger is and picked #9 setting
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ep...22369-acs-how-run-v6-supercharger-script.html
is your phone faster or slower than before? it seemed a bit slower but after a couple minutes im not sure if theres a difference
Well since I was referenced in that write up... the settings listed were for OG Epic if you are a heavy multitask user. The ET4G has a much larger memory and v6 has been updated many times since then. When I used it on my Epic, it benchmarked basically the same but tasks/apps remained open until you killed them. Also, before the Epic got the official GB update, we had issues with RAM leaks causing a soft reboot and that basically stopped those from happening. I haven't even tried the updated version (or any version) on my ET4G because it handles everything I throw at it with no lag

LOL wow i didn't even notice it was for epic 4g not the touch and yea i figured if I cant see a difference why try to improve
edit:
Never saw a 1000hp setting? only options 1 - 17??
Its for any Android.
See sig for link to download latest versions
It may be for any Android, but while I couldn't function without it on my OG Epic, I see no need for it on the Touch at this point. The phone's available RAM is far better and the speed of the device is at a level that's well beyond what Supercharger V6 was able to do to the OG Epic. I don't see any reason to use it, at least for now. But boy was it invaluable before.
Good thing that I've thrown in lots of other goodies then

V6 Supercharger

Has anyone else tried this out?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16635544#post16635544
I used to use it on my fascinate running gingerbread and it made a seemingly huge difference. It has been updated for ICS. I'm running it at the moment, and it seems to be making a difference to me (running AOKP build 33).
Also running the 3g booster script and that seems to have made a difference as well. Almost 1.25meg 3g download speeds, which I have NEVER seen in my area.
If you're bored and looking for something to do, try it out =]

V6 Supercharger usually slows down and bugs the E4GT. However the 3G Supercharger works great.
my thoughts
I tried the 3g turbocharger and 6v super changer heck even the wifi afterburner on E4GT and had mixed results the 3g turbo charger did seem to work for a while but if I updated my profile or any thing its like it canceled it out. The supercharger seem to make the phone a little more snappy with redrawing the home screenand launcher but wasn't to good for any of the games i play and it showed a good bit of lag in GPU testing where I didn't have it before. the afterburner DID how ever pick up my wifi speed though my phone I did 3 back to back test with out and 3 with with picked up and 5MB a second with it. I don't use any of them now just running blazer 4.1 which is pretty fast and smooth and that's way I don't but it was fun to mess with.
