[Q] Any good how-to's for CM 7.10 for Arc? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hiya folks!
The title kinda says it all, I'm a new to the android-world.
There would be awesome if there was kind of a "extra-noob-guide" out there
I hate to be a bother with stupid questions, sorry for that!
P.S. I had a Xperia x10 b4 the Arc.

A guide for installing CM 7.10 on Arc!

Hey..
You mean to install it?
CM is being ported to Arc as yet .. Check the Development forum .. Its known as FreeXperia.. It has a few bugs which are still being fixed..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102523
NOTE: The link to 024 download is a bit broken.. COPY PASTE the hotfile link don't click on it.. The embedded URL seems to be for 023 release still..
That post has all the details on how to install it..

Thanx m8!
But, is it easier to root it? I don't like the SE look, and the homescreen software sucks.
I'd like to have a styleish and rooted phone

Yes.. It is pretty easy to root.. WIth and without unlocking bootloader..
Check the Namaste Guide for more details [ I seriously suggest that you should read the Namaste guide well before going ahead with anything to know what method does what etc..]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133650
As for the Launcher + Homescreen you don't require root for it anyway..
There are quite a few launcher replacements out there .. Check the android market..
CyanogenMod uses ADW.Launcher if i'm not wrong.. Which is free and also is in the Market..

flash custom rom from here (tutorial)- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
chose your theme from here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=630
I you want the SGS theme then go for Open Desire or LeeDroid..

Your thread is now in Q&A after being moved yesterday from the Development section where you first posted it.. Root if ya need don't if ya don't.
yes , you should
whats the easiest way if there is one any help would be appreciated
ZergRush exploit by doomlord.
Look in dev section for easy tool.
One click.

Definitly worth it.
Just use the ZergExploit like explained before, make sure you flash the FXP kernel (look up how to put a boot.img) and then put the new FXP047 image (7.2.0 at the time of writing this).
I had the same reluctance at the start as you, it seems complicated, and you actually need more research. Make sure you read the "noob" posts on how to root, they actually give you all the infos you need when put together

It's normal to hesitate but not when you get the correct steps to do it in a clean and harmless method.
Try this tutorial that worked fine for me.

It does help if you actually search for what you're looking for. Luck for you there are plenty of spoon feeders here.

OP didn't specify bootloader status and the bootloader would have to be unlocked to flash a custom kernel doesn't it? Great link if he has unlocked bootloader

Ask all you want, but don't take offence when you get pulled up for being lazy.

Nope, you didn't. You're not the first to say they've searched for something when they clearly haven't and you certainly wont be the last. I came here to learn, not be spoon fed and rehashed old information that I could have found myself by searching. This post of mine from yesterday sums up this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32137512&postcount=152

Help

Can Anyone Post A Simple Tutorial On How To Port Xperia Arc Rom To Xperia Ray "GB VERSION"
Tried JJ doctor Tutorial Dont work
THANKS :_)
Click the first link in my sig, scroll down to the section titled, "Development" then click one of the porting guide links, failing that a Google search of "how to port a ROM" should bring up any relevant info.
Sent from Myushi
Has the dev of the rom you want to port given his permission?
I'm only asking, because I've seen in the "Atomic GB" thread, that you have written to port XtremeSilencer's rom without his permission. So he certainly will report you if you port w/o permission to mods!
Here is what I'm talking about!
If I'm completely wrong, just correct me!
EDIT:
Okay, that's weird, the page from the link disappeared like it's been cleaned by a moderator!
Im not editing XtremeSilencer rom Im editing apkmartin rom i ask him he said its ok just give credits
yeah i know i asked the moderator to clean it !
cause peaple just post rubbish about porting rom without permission!

You can head to cm9 thread on development section, step by step is usually described on OP, and there is cm9 discussion thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598056
many people there will be happy to help you.
and i suggest you should read general guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1941028
and some sticky thread on development section. everything already described there.

glad to hear that's worked for you. CM9 is the most stable for our device. you can try cm10 or cm10.1 if you want to test newer version. it's also run well, but the main problem is our ram. it's to small to handle. so if you want to get performance, stability and battery friendly i suggest you keep CM9.
you should backup first, lol  nandroid backup for your rom, in case you have to back to stock rom to claim the guarantee. but yeah, you can flash stock rom anyways. there is on sammobile.com
i usually using gobackup to backup sms, contacts, call log, etc. and my contacts always sync to my google account. (i know most people think go app is crap, yeah it is, but this one is working well for simple backup ).
i suggest after installing new rom you install app manually from play store. because different android version usually had different apk build.
