I have spent some time looking for an answer. to no avail....
Can someone please tell me or point to the thread... Someone please tell me what has happend to Savaged-zen and all of his Rom goodness... Has he moved on?
His website is still up, but nothing has been updated in months
http://mirror.savaged-zen.com/
I don't know if any of them have EVO 4Gs anymore; the development has sorta split up because they have different phones
I've seen replays in the kernel thread that they r working on a 3.0 release of the kernel but from what I've heard mist of them have moved onto other phones. To bad cause the kernel was incredible. I never used the rom. No eta on the updated kernel as of yet either

Agreed I was trying to get the latest rom. And the forum and mirror were down. I flashed it before and loved the rom kernal combo. But had a GPS issue that I could not figure out. But now that I fixed that I wanted to go back to it. If anyone has the rom/kernal please share.....

Ok dumb question but how would you go about upgrading to gingerbread on a rooted phone?! I can't seem to find the answer anywhere & I'm scared when the time comes I won't know how.

I assume you haven't rooted?
You'd have to flash (install) a ROM that's based off of Gingerbread. Right now, there are only two or three of those
I have rooted & flashed myns warm. that's what I'm worried about..or my question I guess. How would I get gingerbread on my rooted phone.

Like would I update through Sprint or is it something I have to do manually?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Manually or wait until they push it out officially.
Using my HTC Evo phone which I'm using Xda app to post
At the moment you would have to do it manually. As far a I am aware the few roms that are available are not yet completely stable, and not all the features are working. Cyanogen is working on CM7/gingerbread, but has not released a build. Sounds like they're getting close though, as he tweeted he's using it as his daily driver.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
there are 3 Gingerbread ROMs in the Android Development forum thus far. They're all in Alpha or early Beta forms currently, and for most people are not stable or feature-full enough to be daily users.
If you're new to rooting I'd shy away from flashing experimental Alpha builds unless you're ready for some troubleshooting. It might be in your best interest to wait until they are more general public ready.
If you are interested, here are the links to the 3 I'm aware of:
Comes tweaked so far. Not really stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878020
Pretty much stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877653
Pretty much stock as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881557
I've personally used the 2nd and 3rd. Both worked for me but not without some issues for sure.
Oh and no matter what, get very familiar with recovery and NAND BACKUPS (nandroid). Especially when trying these alpha roms, get used to backing up your working roms and restoring them.
Everyone is so helpful but I'm not trying to do anything with my phone until it's officialy released. I just don't know how being rooted effects updating. I don't know if I'm wording this correctly...lol sorry
what my friend is trying to tell you sinse you are rooted you have to wait untill a rom w/ gingerbread on it which he provided some for you. and if you apply it manually you may be un-rooted then until unrevoke or others can break it .
Hi all
anyone know of a fully woking gingerbread rom at this point?

CM7 is the closest. Was using as a daily driver until yesterday to run Z3. Everything but 4g, which no GB rom has.
Check out the cyanogen forums for the latest nightly builds, and the CM7 thread in the general section for any Q's or info.

Most of you guys probably only want AOSP, but for those of you with extra time on your hands and with nothing else to do I present to you my first ROM, built from Shipped ROM.
The ROM is completely zipaligned, deodexed, and most Verizon Bloatware apk.s are removed. If there are any remaining, please let me know in the comments.
This should be one of the fastest Stock ROMs available. I know other people may have created the same kind of ROM, but please, don't flame on me.
Of course, this ROM still runs Android 2.2.1, however I hope to update that in future test version, as well as AOSP.
I also must warn you, the file size is a gigantic 240MB. If all goes well with this test ROM, AOSP will be next

its not like gb was a leak that has random bugs and froyo is a better option

im trying to port cm10/jelly bean but have had no luck. i got it to boot but it gets to the launcher and reboots im using the kernel from cm9 alpha6 any ideas/input on kernel that would be better to use or what i may be doing wrong ive never ported anything to the epic touch but i assume its not much different than motorola photon any help would be great thanks in advance
You might want to pm agat63 or chris41g as they have been all over kernel development around here lately and would probably be best equipped to give you an answer... or get at mijjahz or bigtoysrock as team noc has been working on a jb port as well

I hope this doesn't read wrong, if it does I apologize. The only option I know of right now is mijjahs as his team is working on jb port right now. But if there kernel isn't compatible with cm10 you have no options. Porting a ROM, especially one of a different OS version requires extensive development because you are taking a ROM from another phone and trying to get it working on our phone. Here is the part that I hope doesn't come across wrong. If you are capable of doing that I would expect that you know exactly what you need to get a working kernel done. Which begs the question, are you actually developing a cm10 port for our phones or are you just trying to install a cm10 build from somewhere else? Again please don't take that wrong. I am just trying to figure out what you are doing because if you are just trying to install one don't. You will likely permanently brick your phone. But if you are actually developing a cm10 build for us great! Start with mijjahs.

im trying to port cm10 from gs3 to epic touch ive ported roms for the photon but i have no exp building kernels or porting for e4gt but i havent bricked yet and ive flashed about 20 builds but all i get is a boot loop
i might have something using sbrissens jb kernel ill know in a few
So I flashed AOKP JB Milestone 1, and it ran great (fast, smooth, etc). However, after about 10 minutes of using it I started getting Hot Reboots about every 10 minutes. I could not figure out how to fix it, so I decided to flash the latest CM10 Nightly, and it was the same issue, ran fine for 10 minutes then started Hot Rebooting every minute or two. I could not fix it in CM10 either.
Because of this I had to go back to my modified Stock Nandroid. I do not want to be using stock anymore though and would really like to figure out what was causing these Hot Reboots. I made sure to clear my Wallet Data before I flashed the new roms...I did clean installs with wiping the phone multiple times...
Does anyone have any idea as to what might be going on here? Is there a superwipe zip for the d2tmo that might help?
ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED!
Wipe data factory reset, wipe system flash ROM of choice then instal ONE app at a time and test it for about an hour or more. Should help solve your issue.

Make sure you're using a compatible kernel. Then try other ones as well.

Yeah, I just wanted to throw that out there since a lot of people don't stick with the kernel thst comes with the rom. If you're still having trouble id say try elesbbs suggestion a few posts back.
Good luck!

What is the most stable ROM? I got a new phone and gave my e4g to my daughter. She is 10. She will not be using it as a phone or 3g. She lost her iPod touch. We have WiFi and she has a Google account so its perfect for her. It was on the latest cm10.1 nightly. She doesn't need or care about the latest version of android. I am just wanting opinions on what is the most stable best battery ROM out there for her. Please and thank you.

WTH , you are from Galaxy S III and talking sh1t in Epic 4G forum... That's a ROM nonexistent here When can forum gurus stop random people coming in here...
Anyway about the stable ROM query, I think you can go with stock FC09 or The People's ROM (never tried this but seems everyone around likes it). All in the dev section
Sent from HTC Incredible S @ CM10.1
As far as a stable ROM that jus works I would recommend The Peoples ROM or CM7 but the Peoples ROM seems to be the best gingerbread ROM around
Baked SPH-D700
I really appreciate the information. I guess I'll throw on the peoples ROM and let her be happy.
