So I got it to boot up. You can do this by holding the power button down while continuously unplugging and replugging in a power adapter (or usb cable). You may spend 2 or 3 minutes unplugging and replugging it in (you need to do this rapidly) but eventually you'll be greeted with the samsung boot screen. If it makes it to the battery display screen you're not unplugging and replugging in quickly enough.
Hopefully o that anyone else who encounters this problem can potentially use their phone in a pinch or recover data off one with a broken power button. My power button is definitely busted and I'll need to get it repaired by sprint unfortunately.
Thanks!

Did you try putting it into download mode? may need to ODIN back to stock.
Ok im new to this forum, as i just ditched my evo shift and picked up and epic, but you might try booting to another menu. Try unplugging it and holding the 1 key on the keyboard then press the power key. If that does nothing then id have to guess ur actual power button is broken. You could also try pulling the battery witih it unplugged for like 5 minutes then put it back in and hold the power button for like 20 seconds and letting it go.
Edit: He beat me to it
It appears the actual power button is broken, neither of those solutions worked. Is there any other way to force it to power up without use of the power button?

Thank you soo much! I have a messed up Epic that has to be sent back to Sprint but I had to get my work information off of it or I'd be in it deep. Your trick worked perfectly!!

Hi, was wondering if anyone else has/had similar issues?
Got the Galaxy Tab S today and was spending time setting it up. Connected to the PC and charge was at about 57%. Suddenly the window displaying tablet contents on the PC disappeared and the screen went black.
The power button didn't turn the screen back on. I held it down, thinking that it required a hard reset but nothing happened. I disconnected the tablet from my pc and went to use it's dedicated charger. The battery icon came up, stating it was 57% charge, and shortly after the LED light on the back of the tablet started flashing rapidly. I quickly took out the cable.
I've tried holding down the home key, volume down, and power button and nothing happens. I then tried the same and having a finger on the screen. Then I repeated the process again with the cable connected to the charger, and then computer.
No matter what I try, the device won't turn on and the LED keeps flashing repeatedly when connected with usb charging cable. I also tried using another cable.
I'm thinking of phoning up where I got it from tomorrow and asking for a replacement, unless there's something I'm missing here?
Any thoughts would be great, thanks.
My guess would be, you are not pressing the buttons correctly.

You try just Power+Vol Down?

I tried that just now. Nothing happens.
How about pressing power, vol up and down, home huttons at the same time for 1 minute

That doesn't work either. The only response I get from the tablet is by plugging in the charging cable and then it goes on to display an epileptic inducing light show with the LED constantly flashing on and off

Never seen this problem before. Could be a bad partition making it not boot. Replacement may be your answer as its better to get a new one and be safe.

I've used various tablets before and never encountered any of them not booting at all. The led flashing business is very weird. I'll phone up the store I got it from and ask if I can get a replacement.
Thanks for the responses
Hi,
I've only had my Samsung Galaxy Tab S for a few weeks. Whilst on a plane the battery went to 0%.. no problem I thought as I'd simply charge it when I got to a power source.
However, when plugged in, nothing happens. No LED light, nothing on the screen. I've plugged it into a wall socket and via USB into a PC. I have held down the power button, home and volume down for a period of time, as well as just the power button and volume down.
Has my tablet gone kaput?
Cheers,
Titanium
I'd just let it charge for a while. It'll take a bit before it comes back to life if it was completely drained.
If you still don't get any response hold POWER + VOL DOWN.

Should it show any lights? It's as if it's not even charging at all.

If it was powered off I'd expect the battery icon to show.

Yeah, tried to hold it down. No LED lights and nothing shows on the tablet. It's as if it's just dead.

There are no leds.
I know someone else had the same problem. They used a different charger and it worked.
Try that first.

I had this problem.
You'll have to pry off the back cover, remove the wire that connects the battery to the motherboard. (A battery pull, basically).
Keep it off for 30 seconds. Then plug back in.
Use ifixit for details about opening. Feel free to ask for more help.
Try this one.
1) connect the tab to PC
2) press Home, Vol Down and Power simultaneously up to a screen appears;
3) press Vol Down to cancel and reboot the tablet.
John.
Now there are a few things you can try...
First check your charging port for any dust or any foreign particle. There has to be a small gap between the base of the charging port, and the small slab above it. Carefully, using a board pin, try and push that slab a bit up, don't apply too much pressure, just enough to make it move slightly!
This can happen sometimes if you drop your phone.
Next, make sure your charger, and the USB cable are working fine.
Also tell me if you have any Xposed module for your battery installed on your phone!

Thanks so much for that.
This morning, I plugged my tablet in to AC charge before leaving for the day -- battery was at ~30% and all was well. This evening, I came home and the tab was stuck at a weird Samsung logo -- not the normal boot with colored ovals, but the logo surrounded by a moving star field, never seen before, and could not get the tab to respond, turn off, do anything. Tried many wacky suggestions found on the intertubes to stop/start it, including holding power plus touching the screen for > 30 seconds, none of which worked. Never would have thought your suggestion for download mode would work, but it did on the very first try.
I'd like to know how the tab got into that state, and what that star field logo is about. But at least it's working again, for now.
Thank you.
That's the normal lollipop boot screen.
I was using the phone and hit the power button for sleep. Then when I checked it 1 hour later it will not power up. It there a way to reset the phone, this is why I hate phone you can't take the battery out of. But it is just a travel phone and now I am stuck.
Any key combinations or anything! ??!?!
You should be able to just hold the power button until the screen lights up. If that doesn't work hold the power button while connecting the usb c cable to charge it
Power button+volume down for 30 seconds.
Most likely the qdloader 9008 bug.. Volume down and power for 60 seconds always fixes the issue. Either that or let it discharge on its own for a day or so then plug it in and you're good to go!
Hi !
Have anyone sorted this problem with suggestion ?
Mine is getting warm when charging (warmer next to the power button area) but still no led indicator or power ON !??!
I hope I'm posting this in the right place but I'm desperate for help.
My phone, HTC 10, froze and then the screen turned off while I was taking a picture.
The charge should have been around 80%.
Symptoms:
The screen is unresponsive.
Couldn't get the home button/finger print sensor to turn the screen on.
Couldn't get the power button to turn the screen on.
A call to my phone could not reach my number as well.
When plugged in to a wall charger or laptop no indicator light turns on.
When connected to a laptop, the laptop makes that connection noise and a long name with QualComm in it shows up.
Tried Power Button + Volume Up for 10 seconds but didn't get any result.
Side note:
The power button was a little faulty before as well.
You have to squeeze it a certain way to make it work.
I need to somehow restart my phone. Any ideas?

Try to clean all buttons really well, if it keeps failing to boot and the phone is still recognized as Qualcomm it's probably bricked.
Simple explanation of the word bricked :
When the phone doesn't boot, when you can't access the bootloader, download mode or recovery it's bricked!

Strange turn of events: I plugged the phone to my laptop because I read somewhere that it drains the battery. Just for the kicks, after a few hours, I unplugged and re-plugged my phone. Suddenly, there was light. The battery light came back. I immediately switched to the wall charger and once I did that the battery icon appeared showing 1%. Now, it's peacefully charging away. Will see if it actually turns on later on once it's charged about half an hour.
HI everyone,
This morning I woke up to my phone not responding to power button. Screen stayed blank. The LED was blinking white, very fast. I tried a combination of hold power button, then power button + volume up, but nothing. At some point of trying these buttons the LED went off.
Now the phone is not responding to charging cable on power, charging cable in PC USB, and power button/volume up combination. I even took the SD card slot out to try. Been on the charger for at least 30 mins now.
The last time I did was playing a mobile game on auto-mode (which I often do and leave it to run until it runs out of stamina), but it shouldn't have drained the battery befote it finished. I go to sleep when it's doing that so no idea what happened on screen before it went dead.
Um, before I start to panic, can anyone tell me what's happened?? Help please?
