Hi,
I've just updated my M2000 to WM5 and have followed the guide of wiki to install TomTom 5.1, but despite running the correct voice.cab file, TomTom doesn't register that it's installed, i've checked that the files copy over to the TomTom directory, and have even tried replacing the files using copies from my friends PPC2003 installation that works perfectly.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Andy
Weird. I have tried several of those voice files, and they all work. Have you by any chance installed to a memory card? That doesn't seem to work very well.
map is on sd card, but all the other progs i've installed to the main memory. I've only tried voice05 but as far as I'm aware that is Jane/UK which is what I want.
Cheers,
Andy
You have to make an extra directory tomtom in the \tomtom map.
\tomtom\tomtom\ and in here the sound files *.chk
Belsj
I have tried copying the .chk file to both \TomTom\TomTom as well as \TomTom and \Storage Card\Great-Britain-Map\TomTom and none of these have worked. Is there something else I should be doing?
Cheers,
Andy
In total you have to copy 4 files
mobile device\tomtom\CurrentMap.dat
\TomTom\TomTom\data05.bmp
\TomTom\TomTom\data05.chk
\Program Files\navigator\data.chk
\Program Files\navigator\tomtom navigator.exe
\Program Files\navigator\navigator.cfg
that's all.
data05.bmp and .chk is for example, you can choose one of your own voices.
Look this up on your device other wise i send you my files so you can try them.
Good Luck
Belsj
Hello,
i have precisely the same problem.
Tried everything mentioned here without success.
Where do i find that *.bmp file? Its not located in the voice folder on the original cd. Ive put the voice cab file from the cd on my storage card and it installed fine, it installed the mentioned files except for that *.bmp file ( wich i assume is just a stupid bitmap?). I moved those files according to above instructions - no success.
Any help is much appreciated.
I fixed it,
make sure that theres just one copy of those *.chk files on your pda. Delete all copies in other folders except those in the \tomtom\tomtom folder.
Worked for me, i hope it helps you.
This is a long shot, but there was a cab file knocking around the forums, I remember it from the days when i had a HTC Blue Angel. there was a cab file or file that was installed on the SD card that could take a ROM image from the device and then you could install back onto a device if the upgrade failed.
Im just wondering if this is possible and it would help those people out who have bricked there devices.
What im saying is, if i can find this cab file, i could try and get my rom dumped and maybe someone could use this to get an original o2 uk rom back onto there devices.
what do you guys think ?

i only have a 256 mb card and i need someone to let me know if that is big enough for a rom dump....... any one help with this?
seemed ok, just backing rom up now.... will try and put it into a format that can be uploaded, mine is the original rom that came with the o2 uk xda orbit, and will/should help bricked devices back to original rom.
im, currently uploading my dump to the ftp, for anyone who knows how to convert this into something flashable.
i have no idea how to do this, so if anyone knows, please do this or pm me with instructions or link and ill do it tomorrow after work.
What program you use to make the dump? I used WM5 test, and I could make a copy of active ROM, but where this progam saves the files? I can't find any folder with these copied files.

i'm totally new to this but maybe if you use the htc wm5 rom as a base and then decode that to put your image on top, then encode, it will work?
see for nbh format of decoded roms..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=289830

on that link, there is a coment,
Please use the SEARCH button as this has been discussed already.
ANyway to help you do the following:
1. Download the latest T-Mobile ROM (the exe file) from the XDA Dev FTP site. Then extract this to a folder, say EXPERIMENT
2. Put the BIN file there
3. Go to Buzzdev.net nad follow the procedure to ENCODE/DECODE ROM. This will change the original nk.nbf (the OS) with your BIN file. using HTC64 Extended ROM Tool.exe
4. Then just put the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe file into this directory also.
Now you have your OS backed up ready to install to a device in the EXPERIMENT directory. Now just make sure the T-Mobile ROM you downloaded has the same radio ROM. If not, download a verison with same radio rom and replace the radio_.nbf file with the downloaded version.
Backing up the ExtendedROm has to be done manually. Just transfer all contents to a alternate directory in the PC then just put it back to replace what's already there.
Hope this helps

i think this will only work with an original o2 rom, which isnt available, and i doubt it would work using another operator rom , will give it a go though.

problem is also that the encode / decode is discussed re nbf compressed files... and the artemis uses the nbh format. this is what the second link was i posted.
looks tough!

it is tough, i have no experience in this, and i tried, ive pm'd a couple of people and awaiting some responses, but i cant see it happening in the sense that it may not be possible to do the upgrade while in bootloader..
but . . . . the mission continues
hi!
Currently there is no way to make a backup other than with pdocread.exe from itsme (istutils). You can make a backup of the OS, SPL, GSM and Extended ROM with it. The problem begins with flashing it back, I'm still trying to figure out how to do it when the phone is fully functional, there is no way to do it when you r phone is stuck in bootloader mode. The only way would be by reconstructing a .nbh file. The problem is that none of the tools that can make a .nbh file work for the Artemis, because the use a wrong signature size. The one who can help us out here is pof but he is a VERY busy man.

Then how is possible that bepe could make a custom ROM for arthemis? I thought if you use nbhtool you can make custom ROM for arthemis, btw I posted a msg in original nbhtool post, about what parameters I need to introduce in order to make a fully operational ROM, because when I entered in bootloader mode, and using putty's tool to comunicate with PDA, my device return this msg:
cmd: getdevingo
ARTE10000 HTCE... (and in nbhtool, parameters are only ARTE1000 or ARTE1100)
Signature size when you decompresing a original NBH file is 128 (in original post some people talk about 1024, but when I cooked ROMs with 1024 I have an upgrade failure, and I must reboot PDA), but I really need to know if in nbhtool on Device I Must enter "ARTE10000" and in CID type "HTCE" or not...
Hi, anybody here know this? This file is located in the 3.00.07.09.PV rom. everytime i try to edit it or replace it whit another one, the system shows me this file is a rom file, which cannot be changed. any idea???
Thanks.
Any one have the same problem?
By the way, with 3.00.07.09.PV everytime after i return to the desktop from a setting page, the system runs very slow. do u guys have the same problem?
cheers.
Hi there...
Just use Resco Explorer as it has the ability to edit files even if they are in ROM memory
I've fixed mine using this method and it is perfect now...
Best,
M Addario
thanks, but even resco cannot do it.
hi, iv tried that before, sadly, it doesn't work.

Try this with a registry editor
HKLM, Software, HTC, HTCHome, Weather, Settings
Put the city name, and the city/country code on the other.
Hi,
Im having a lot of trouble installing IGO on my HD, everything goes well, untill I try to actually launch it. Then I get: Initialization error: no language files were found. I googles that, and downloaded the language files from the IGO website, placed them in the LANG folder (tried both zipped and unzipped) but then i still get this error. Can anyone point me to a manual on how to install this freakin app on our HD?
greetings
I guess iGo has installation instructions if you've purchased it. There are some config solutions posted here on XDA. Be sure you also have the correct information in your SYS.TXT file.
yes i got those instructions and they just say let the autoinstall run, well that happens properly and place ur language files in the LANG folder. Did that, still nothing. But where are those config solutions on xda? The search function of this forum seems to be not working. Even the most basic keywords dont give any results.
Next question, i got it up and running now, the files from igo's website were wrong... But now im trying to import custom POI point. Im doing this with PoiEdit. I place the files in the folder content/poi and have tried the following formats: KML, UPD, CSV but none give any result... this while poiedit indicates UPD is the format for POI in IGO. So can anyone please tell me how to import POI's (and speedcams)
You'll probably have more luck in a dedicated iGo forum. This is not Blackstone related.
yeah but the information on most IGO related forums is different. One says i have to put it all in a .txt witch i dont know how to create from poiedit. The next says it should be .kml files. Then i read about UPD, neither work.
Okay so I got TomTom Navigator 7 and a UK&Ireland map. I've installed TomTom on my MicroSD card and it opens, now it says there are no maps. Where do I put all the map files? I've googled and can't find a solution.
So far I've tried the root,
SD\Program Files\Navigator
and
SD\Program Files\Navigator\maps
Also I'm getting the BTTrayCE error thing, I've searched for the DLL's on my device to rename them but I can't find them -.-
And finally, I've heard about a lag in the app, how can it be fixed? I found a link but lost it -.-
Thanks

folder with any name on root
pna file is defining name and there you can find a version number too
(\storage card\UK&Ireland\<files> OR \storage card\map1\<files>)
for raster, voices, postcodes they can be on root or in PF folder
Also I'm getting the BTTrayCE error thing, I've searched for the DLL's on my device to rename them but I can't find them -.-

\windows\BtCoreIf.dll
\windows\BtSdkCE30.dll
just delete them. they replacing rom files with the same name but 5 years newer verions of broadband bluetooth driver
by deleting, original ROM files will reappear
you can't see them because file browser is not showing them.
There should be about 7000 files in \windows folder
(hidden,rom,system attributes)
you need different file browser. total commander is free and cool
another option:
2 files is the whole application, no regs.
backup those to SD card, copy shortcut file from \windows\start menu\programs,
uninstall TT
and copy them back
tomtom navigator.exe
data.chk
And finally, I've heard about a lag in the app

sorry, i didn't. can't help. just don't run it from SD and if you can install it on fresh ROM or burn to rom so they'll not be fragmented. and don't keep to many POI switched ON
but I heard about that it likes to crash in rhodo and mine is like hell.
still trying to figure that out, it's not crashing when I m not moving. could be I had wrong sett for gps.
