Really don't know exactly what it does, but generally you don't include this file when you bundle a rom with flashtool, so no harm.

how do i unlock it? That's the whole point of me posting about this.
After i unlock my bootloader, i face this issue. but flashing finished successfully. Sometime it may be a DRM key related item.
Dont flash that file. its simlock data and if you flash it on a phone with different imei then you will kill the phone without any way other than sony service center to fix it.
Don't worry about that, i always get that warning and there was no problem.

I've read this 'simlock.ta' thread with some interest because I have a similar issue myself.. Might you have any suggestions?
In short, my Xperia (Ray) refuses to read my SIM card. In fact, it doesn't even ask me for my PIN number, it just boots as normal but I have no connection to any network. I've tried using the SIM card in another phone and it works fine, therefore the problem is with the phone itself.
I'd recently had my phone network & bootloader unlocked by wotanserver using the test point method - because of this I thought the DRM keys would be fine (e.g. TrackId & Timescape still worked). However, when I was updating from GB .42 to .62 OTA (to flash a GB ROM) my phone bricked! So, I ended up using s1tool to restore the locked bootloader. Then I used flashtool to flash a stock ICS ftf file. It seemed to work (the phone rebooted) but it was then I noticed that the SIM card wasn't being recognised. Also, in the Flashtool log I noticed that a blue line was there saying 'this file is ignored simlock.ta'.
Hard resets & updating with Sony Update Service isn't working and I'm really confused at this stage.
Is my phone screwed for good?
Same Problem with Xperia J

Did you find a solution for your problem?
In reality, I have the same problem with an xperia j (ST26i) , with some differences:
Initial Problem:
- The mobile belongs to my cousin, she updated it with the sony update center to the latest version (JB 4.1.2) and there: problem with the wifi when the sim.
- I got the mobile, and downgrade to the 4.0.4 version, I've tried 4 different versions:
-> ST26i_11.0.A.3.18_Global
-> ST26i_11.0.A.7.5_CE
-> ST26i_11.0.A.3.28_WE
-> St26i_4.0.4_11.0.A.3.28_CE3
I had always the problem with the wifi when the sim plugged.
Finally I've tried also the UNOFFICIAL CM 10, with no success
- I found a solution with the apk wifix manager witch worked with the 28 WE version of the firmware.
But I've continued to search an other solution, and I've remarked that when I flash the rom I always get the Warn: "This file is ignored : simlock.ta "
After some research I get an advice by a member of XDA to rename the file as "preset.ta", AND THERE, it works no warning ... BUT the sim is blocked (not locked) and I have always the message (invalid card).
I've tried to reflash the firmware many times, to relock the bootloader (with appropriate ftf proposed in this forum ), Tried to use the sony update service .. But I have always the same problem (INVALID CARD)
I've also tried to format everything with CWM (system, card, cache) and made a sdcard partition, and NO way.
So, can any body help me with that please?!
Note : I'm in the middle east zone, some suggestions in the web talk about re-installing the official O2 rom, but I've searched this ROM with no success.

I have this error on XPERIA SP C5303 trying to flash 12.0.A.1.284 on top of 12.0.A.1.257. But my phone is SIM Locked and I know it. And I thought that rewriting simlock.ta from unlocked firmware unlock the phone as well. But flashtool skipping that file. It's really annoying !!! Don't know what to do to unlock it now

1) Which device do you have? R800i? R800x or any other? Cause you can unlock bootloader for free if you are on R800i and here is how you do it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034371
2) Yes Sony repair centre can pretty much fix any problem bro. If you didn't break it and you were doing everything the legit and legal method i.e. OTA then they will fix it for you for free if it's still under warranty. If not under warranty or you broke it then they may charge a fee but they can fix it. Even they couldn't they will replace it for free IF UNDER WARRANTY and COMPLY with it as I saiid earlier.
3) Can you tell me a little more specific of what your problem is and how it happened?
Thank's arian009
I'll send it to Service centre
My phone model R800i
i don't know is under warranty or not. cuz, before this happen, i already unlock bootloader, root, and instal custom rom.
a month ago, my brother want this phone, i decide to flash with old firmware i had before. and then he update OTA, and become brick, so i flash with simlock.ta and preset.ta according to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056094. and my mistake, i don't read whole page. I think is not hardware failure.
Now, i can use my Xperia Play except to make call/texting, because it can't detect any sim card. (error message when i try to register network "your sim card does not allow a connection to this network")
and again, sorry for my bad english, i use google translate to help me

Have you tried flashing a FTF file? It has to be done through flash tool and it basically makes everthing the way it used to! look
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589399
In here there are many firmware that could potentially fix your phone! I mean give it a try because based what you said you have unlocked bootloader and flashed custom firmware before. Hate to break it to you but you are likely to be charged a sum of money ya know
I also have the same error with my x10i... everything done bl unlocked... rooted... but wont read any sim card. Tells me sim missing... and your sim wont allow a connection to this network. South Africa.
Sent from S3Terry, Galaxy SIII GTI9300, using 8ta/Telkom Mobile.
Just look around for the proper base bands for your phone then flash them in flash tool and you should have radios again and BTW I think FMA has a thread about it

Hi everyone,
I have a Xperia Arc (LT15i), and I have a problem. Since yesterday, my phone didn't recognize any SIMCARD. It's locked to Vodafone Spain and BL is locked too.
I saw that my Xperia Arc doesn't boot...and I've flashed FIX Fota Bricked Pack for unlocked Bootloaders...and my Bootloader is locked...since this...No SIM Card detected...and no signal...incl one SIM for Vodafone SPAIN.
Any solution????
If I downgrade from ICS to GB with Flashtool it's possible to fix this problem...or what else???? Any ROM for fix this problem??? PC Companion and SEUS said me that my software is up 2 date...and didn't repair...
Thank you in advance! PLZ Help Me! For me it's a BIG BIG problem! I don't have phone!!!....

From the stickys in general, and I would go with ICS.
I've flashed various ICS stock ROMS...and the problem is the same...Insert SIMCard and restart the phone...
I've used Flashtool 0.9...is there any problem with this version?
Please...any solution? Is my phone dead?
Today I've used SEUS to Update from GB to ICS...and the problem is the same. Still saying...No SIMCARD detected, only emergency calls...or...insert SIM CARD and restart the phone...
What can i do?
Have you taken it out and give it a wipe?
Sent from my Phone.
What???? Sorry but I don''t understand you....
Have you taken the sim card out of the Phone?
Sent from my Phone.
Yes...
And the result is the same...SIM CARD not detected, only emergency calls.
Any solution???
Maybe try put another sim card into your phone and/or your sim card into another phone to test.
I put the SIM on another phone...and SIM seems to be functionally!!! But the same SIM in Xperia Arc nope!
I'll tried anothers SIMS in arc and the result is the same...
After reading many webs...I believe that I found the solution...
Just in this forum...there is a thread with No sim card detected and Emergency Calls...after many tries...solution is Omnius Server and Unlock by certificate replacement. I bought a Single Android License Unlock...tonight I'll try this...if it's resolves my problem, xperia arc will be my phone...if not...BRICK ARC WITH MY HANDS!!! Muahahahahahahaha...
Post results tonight!
hello!
I've got the same problem as you but with my xperia play R800i.
I unlocked it with omnius. I bought a Single Android License Unlock.
Now, it doesn't recognise the sim card.
Could you tell me if you have solved your problem.
Sorry I'm french I don't speak english very well.
All OK!!!! Successfully my Xperia Arc is fully functional...
I bought a Single Android License Unlock from a reseller of Omnius Server in Spain. Only I Need is download Omnius client, connect TestPoint (Clip to bridge 2 GND in Xperia Arc...i don't know on Xperia Play, see testpoint tutorials or Omnius Help!)...then...Network Unlock by certificate replacement...3 seconds left...Power On Xperia Arc...and...
You Hou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
SIMLOCK removed, SIM CARD Reconigzed and the best BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED!!!!! Muahahahahaaahahahaha...
And that's all!
My best 22 € inverted!
Thanks for all 2 people, tutorials, etc... and Omnius-Server also!
See u !!!
Happy Flashing!
I purchased one unlocked Sony LT28AT phone at ebay. Since it ran a little laggy, I flashed a new ROM to upgrade Jelly Bean system via flashtool. The file name is Rogers Stock Firmwares - LT28i. Unfortunately, the phone returned to locked status and the display shows " Please input an unlocked code". Is there any way to solve this problem? Thank you
I got a z2 play today and right after the first start it turned off and this message started appearing (it's the same than on my g4 plus that has unlocked bootloader but the Z obviously doesn't
I'm from brazil
Do I need to get my phone replaced?
or is there any fix I can do myself?
Obviously this is reason for concern and but let me put a positive spin on this ...
Let's assume you got a new device (not refurbished / used), and the device is working just fine. This could be actually good news. Because that message usually shows up after unlocking the bootloader. Unfortunately unlocking normally cancels your warranty. You can only unlock the phone by requesting a special unlock code from Motorola. This way Motorola can easily check whether you unlocked your phone and decline (warranty) service. But since you have never done that, you might have an bootloader unlocked phone with warranty.
> or is there any fix I can do myself?
You could research "fastboot oem lock" but if the above is true, there will not be any advantage whatsoever to do that.
I faced the same issue
after normal use ,no root or unlock bootloader
my phone crashing frequently
and after reboot I Received that error
and I can't update anything via OTA
I started a topic at Lenovo Forum
an Expert suggest me to return it to vendor
so I return it the vendor yesterday
now I hope for a full refund.
Here is a link to Lenovo forum

I fixed it myself by installing the stock room via abd fastboot, if anyone is facing this problem, my phone is working normal and the message is gone so I bet I got a fix.
