Can't answer calls on Nils Gingersense 2.3.3 - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was running Nils Gingersense 2.3.3 and I was having problems answering phone calls. When I would get an incoming call, my screen would freeze and I couldn't drag the ring to answer the call. It would stay frozen until after the call went away and I got the missed call notification. I tried posting in the Android Development thread for that particular ROM but it wouldn't let me post there so I am trying in here. Does anyone know what would cause that issue or how to fix it?

Try reinstalling the ROM, or another ROM.

I tried reinstalling a couple of times. I have not found the same problem with Skyraider though.

I think the unthemed phone.apk is in the thread for his 2.1/3.0 mix. You could also ask if he's got it or can point you to a file from another ROM (i.e. the OTA release) that will work.
He's pretty responsive on the 3.0 thread, and just updated that ROM yesterday.

[Q] Call waiting troubles

Hi,
I have been using custom roms for a while now, but have started facing this call waiting issue lately.
The problem is that whenever i am on a call and there is a call waiting the active call gets muted. If i reject the call waiting, then the active call comes back. I have wiped and installed fresh roms, but cant get this issue fixed. I have tried ARHD, Dogma and rcmix, but the issue is there on all three for me. It seems that i am doing something wrong.
I restore my apps using titanium backup and only restore contacts storage and sms storage from the system data.
I hope some of the champs here can help me.
Cheers,
Shamps

Yes, i am using the recommended radio. I doubt it will be radio related as i dont have any issues with call quality. Its just that the active call gets muted when the call waiting notification is there on the screen.

Does this happen even when dialing out? I know there are settings for voicemail to automatically play on speaker, but never heard this issue before for phone calls. And I don't think 5.5 is being supported anymore. Marcusant has his own rom now which us based off 5.5.

Yeah, revival is the one.
As far as the speakerphone issue, I have run just about all the ROMS out there for EI22 and have not seen or heard of that issue. Have you installed any 3rd party apps that would interact with the dialer, like Go Dialer or anything like that? Its a very weird issue indeed, but sounds like a corrupted file maybe or something. Not being a dev, the best thing I can come up with is to reflash the ROM.

If you still have the theme zip, extract the .apk , and save it to your sd card. Then install. Or if you backed it up with titanium you can restore it from there.

Yuh..thats the funny part...i went from acs 5.5..to mar revival...then proper wipers..installed the same theme...5.9...but this one doesnt have the blue black gmail for some strange reason? U think reflash of theme is in order? This is weird. What i also loved about acs was that gmail didnt auto update so i neednt not be bothered but i would like to have that blue black gmail back doe...any suggestions!?!?!?
Also...i thought i would try what you suggested and i noticed that the gmail.apk is not in shake and bake zip file...is it possible that it was included the acs 5.5 rom and not the theme itself.? If so..what next? Same process just dig within the rom?

Definitely possible just find the .apk in the 5.5 .zip and you should be good to go then.

Possible cause and temp solution to Notification Bug - Could use a little help tho

Okay, so as we all know, there is still a semi-persistent bug with the Notifications sound+vib on the FCxx builds. Gladly, its working better than it used to, but it does go out sometime, and I have been resorting to rebooting the phone to get it back up.
Clearly, thats not a good solution. So after I started paying attention to what was causing it, I've been working harder at finding the root cause and solution to this problem.
Here is my list (from my experiences) of what has been causing the notifications to stop:
1) Putting the phone into silent/vibrate mode and then back to sound
2) Touching the screen while the phone is unlocked while simultaneously receiving a text (thus causing it to silence the notification)
My solutions:
1) Reboot (this sucks tho)
2) Go into the Phones task manager, clear ram, then call yourself.
I've noticed that if you call yourself, and let it ring AND vibrate, it brings the notifications back. For some reason, it doesn't work 100% of the time for me, but it does work like 95%, which is a good start to figuring this out.
Any help and tests from you guys would be most appreciated. Maybe we can help the devs in finding the cause of this bug so they can stomp the **** out of it. Thanks!
My notifications always seemed to stop working after making or receiving a phone call. Not sure about the other causes. I'm on FC 18 now with no issues so far.

It's a bug for touchwiz based ics roms. Anything aosp based like cm9, aokp, and code name won't have the problem. It's odd for them to not fix this bug throughout their many leaks.

I can testify that the issue is/was in AOSP roms. Had it on AOKP and Codename... Havent seen it yet on Codename nightly however.

There's something strange about the notification sound bug..after a phone call sounds are gone, clearing the ram brings them back.. The weirder part is if I receive a text during a call I can hear the notification during a call..I'm not a Dev so I'm clueless but maybe that info can point someone in the right direction

I had rebooted and even re-flashed the rom. Just wanted to know if it was just me or other people are having the same issue as well and if there's a way to fix it, please help.

voice issue

well i've tried cm10.aokp and miui. and seems i cant record anything using either the stock app or a download and if i do manage to its seems its really low or has a bunch of static. also in arket when i try to search for an app using my voice it just acts as if i didnt say anything or its not receiving what im saying if anything at all. i was wondering if this is just me or can anyone else confirm this. i had one other person confirm this on miui but on aokp and cm10 they just say those bugs were fixed weeks ago. any help is greatly appreciated
nvm it seems i have to put my face right next to the top mic like literally and scream at it on those roms for it to pick up anything. which is odd because stock does at a normal distance >.>

when i said stock apps i was correct since those apps are stock to those roms >.> and the other time i said that the aosp roms did work as well as stock did a.k.a tw. so both times i said stock were the correct usage in its own case.
