New UPDATE MANGO ISV BETA - Windows Phone 7 General

Hello All.
My mobile phone (HTC Trophy) show me the message "New update avalaible" and Zune software appears this:

Is mango update?!?!

7403?
thats weird...

7403 is one of the intermediary updates on the way to Mango. Zune 4.8 will do a repeat install update -> check for updates -> install update until there's none left, though, so it's hard to say if it will take you all the way to 7720.
For interest's sake, install Fiddler (fiddler2. com/fiddler2/) and capture the URL of all the cab files that it downloads from Windows Update (download.windowsupdate. com/msdownload/...). If it takes you all the way to 7720 with the carrier drivers, we could probably use that CAB installer tool from the dev forum to make our "unofficial" 7720.68 into official releases by pushing the extra carrier/OEM cab files.

I don't know if update now.... :S

What did you do with your device? Did you deploy new provisioning update for mango beta?

I did nothing ... I have the official version of 7392. I was developing and I get the warning every time I connect to zune.

This is official pre-Mango (normal). You must update - click YES. Next you have update to 7712 or 7720.

Zune software update my phone to 7403 and now Zune software is downloading 7712 to update the phone...

Yes, thats normal. This is Mango Beta 2.

Bu... why Zune update me to a BETA version?!?!?

Well I don't know why you are getting this update (I suppose you did not try to get the Mango Beta on your phone), but unless you need Mango as a developer it would probably be best to roll back to NoDo as soon as possible and make sure you still have the backup that was created.

Then that's probably the safest way to go.
Zune might delete your backup in some cases, so be sure to keep an additional copy on another drive while you are still on the beta.
The thing is that you cannot update from 7712 to 7720 (at least according to MS) thus you will lose all text messages, apps and game progress you did after upgrading from 7392.
And 7720 will probably be released this week officially.

Well i have 7712 when i received the update to 7720. But nothing has been removed from my APPs to my SMS.
But is the 7720 is the final update from 7.5?

Wait... Zune fed your device 7720? That's the final build, but I do believe that many were expecting it to be specifically 7720.500 with all of the manufacturer and carrier customizations. Check your device's about box in the settings app for the full build number.
Also, did you run sniffer during the updates?

Well that could very well be the leaked MS ROM.
Does your compass work in 3rd party apps? Because if it does not, you're missing drivers and therefore have not the official release.

Windows Phone 7 Build 6414 (July 'Beta') Unlocked Emulator

Windows Phone 7 Dev tools Beta released
Here's the updated emulator build. It seems very similar (and the build number is only a bit higher) than the one leaked last week. As with that build, there's no options to add data sources to sync/connect with. Ugh! I'll keep working at it as it's bound to be there somewhere but we'll see.

Unlike previous builds, it seems that you need to pass a VMID to the XDE executable. As follows...
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft XDE\1.0\XDE.exe" "C:\Users\YOU\Desktop\WM70C1-6414-unlocked.bin" /VMID {E575DA31-FC47-4766-853F-018D823B9EE6}
Or you can place the file in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows Phone\v7.0\Emulation\Images" with the name "WM70C1.bin" and debug with visual studio and it will launch. I've only tried a super basic app but this appears to be the first one that actually works fully with debugging! This should help the devs that want to be able to test with the various task launchers with some actual data.
So here's the download!

I'll have to wait til I get home from work to download/look into it. Let us know what you find! I wonder if this is the same emulator build that found it's way out last week?
I'm installing that.
Little Tips: If you installed the April CTP, installing the beta from the April CTP's uninstaller (Open uninstaller -> click Repair/Reinstall -> when the uninstaller ask the CD, click the option for re-downloading the file from Internet). In that mode, you don't uninstall Visual Basic 2010, Visual Studio 2010 or XNA Studio. Enjoy!
(Sorry for my bad English, I'm Italian )
Now we need to wait for an unlock of the new OS Image. It is very much improved with bootup, transitions, and everything really. I cant wait to see how the apps, and hubs are looking and performing now...

Can you install the tools with my mode? I can't, the installation can't download Windows Phone Emulator x64 and it's block. HELP!!!
Eh, I created a new WP app project in Expression Blend and immediately ran it. The basic title layout already doesn't match the system layout. *sigh*
Got problems installing it via the repair routine - just getting errors that some parts of the install couldn't complete. Damned....
Yes, it's *much* safer to do a full uninstall of CTP tools, reboot, then install the Beta.

And this build definitely does seem snappier. Maybe that's because they turned off all logging

But I've got a problem with the emulator. It's choppy like hell, it always was for me. I've got a Core 2 Duo 2,14 GHz so I don't think that should be a problem, but I see it is using just one core. Is there a trick to enable emulator using the 2nd core or get it somehow hardware accelerated?

Windows Phone 7 Security Update may hit on May 3

http://pocketnow.com/windows-phone/windows-phone-7-security-update-coming-may-3
Less than a month ago we told you that Windows Phone 7 might receive a security update soon in the context of those specific nine fraudulent certificates affecting several domains by Comodo.
According to SlashGear's inside sources, that certain security update will be Windows Phone 7's third one (after pre-NoDo and NoDo) and is likely to hit on May 3. Whether it will require the Zune client of it will be delivered over-the-air is not sure at the moment -- though we'd say OTA taking into consideration the small weight. While Redmond successfully patched its Desktop client of Internet Explorer, the one on Windows Phone 7 is still vulnerable.

Looks more like an IE patch to me. Also, Chevron has been patched with Nodo, so no point in patching it again really.
If I do get this update on the 3rd of May it had better bring NoDo along with it! I'm still stuck with pre-NoDo (Orange UK, completely unmodified) AHH!
But it's good to see them working on the small security updates as well as the big end-user updates

Uh great timing! I did not receive the 7740 update on my HD7 for now, but this is something that will stop me at least for a while before I install.
Right now, I'm interested where and how WP7 stores the encryption keys for the encrypted XAPs. I don't think that MS assigns each device an individual encryption key and uses a static key for all devices. Otherwise MS would need the computing power to encrypt all purchased XAPs on the fly.
Mods: Please get me right, I'm not into violating copyrights or pirating, I just want to understand how this encryption system works, as their is no further information available from MS. I think, iOS devices uses their hardware to generate a unique key for the app store apps. It would be therefore interesting to know how MS handles this problem.

Hm, normally developer unlocked phones should be able to deploy. Did you recheck if your phone is still developer unlocked after the 7740 update? When this has been asked before in the last three weeks in this section since Android 13 came out, I don't think anyone suggested a solid definitely working answer. My answer, I doubt if you can make it go away, and I doubt if you can keep from installing it for very long.
Have you tried disabling the "Automatic system update" setting in the Developer options menu?
I never usually see these messages, however, I usually manually update my device within the first two weeks of a new update dropping. However, I may surpass that time frame this time around due to numerous family events. Therefore, I will let you know if I end up seeing this message pop-up on my device in the near future.

That is indeed what used to happen.
There have been several reliable reports that those who were rooted on Android 12 Stable got the OTA for Android 13 Stable (even though they had automatic download of OTAs disabled in Developer options), and that the 13 Stable OTA did install successfully. Of course, it overwrote the rooted kernel/boot.img, so it wasn't rooted until they manually Magisk'd the boot.img from the (full) factory image zip and flashed it.
I can also confirm that on my own phone before 13 Stable came out, it wanted to install the tiny second July OTA even though again, I had automatic download of OTAs disabled. I just never rebooted until Android 13 Stable came out, which I manually flashed. I have no idea if that second July OTA would've successfully installed as well.
In some ways, being able to take the OTA officially may make it easier to update for some users, as long as it happens at a time you're comfortable installing the new rooted boot.img. But it's not cool about it ignoring the automatic download of OTAs switch. For the OTA to Android 13 Stable, it was reasonably understandable, in my opinion, since the bootloader vulnerability on Android 12 Stable was big enough to warrant that.
We have no idea at this point if all OTAs will successfully install over a rooted Stable firmware, or if any future OTAs will ignore the automatic download switch.
If I click download it just dismisses the message and does nothing. I do have the "Automatic system update" disabled in the developer menu. The current ROM on the phone is an official one I downloaded, patched with Magisk, and flashed.
I'm not looking to update every month, just want to get rid of this annoying popup and update when I see an update I want.
I tried the "Disable Application [ROOT]" app from the app store. You have to pay something like $3 to buy it, once.
It was a very tedious process, but I tapped on "Google Play services" in that app and scrolled through the very long lists of "Activities", "Services", "Receivers", "Providers" and unchecked anything that had an identifier that looked like it was related to system updates. e.g. "something.something.SystemUpdate".
I haven't seen this update message in 4 days, so that seems promising. It wasn't exactly a quick fix, though.
