Those of us that downloaded the leaked GB 4.06.605.2 CAN NOT use the OTA. It will not flash, we need a RUU. Please help. Any Devs out there, I'm more than willing to donate for your time to get this out.
Could that be why I haven't gotten the 605.3 update notification yet? Still on 605.2 waiting for it.
If no one is willing I can make an RUU for this message me if the demand is there. Will not make for one person.

they could go back to froyo and then get the ota...
Just search the forum, there are custom roms of .3 if your rooted and offical VZW .2 to .3 update files if your stock.
Edit: here ya go official vzw ota .2 to .3 patch. Just download rename update.zip and place on root of sd card. Shut off the phone and pull the battery then reinsert. Boot into hboot by holding vol down and power at the same time. It will find the file and run the update. Note you must be compleet stock .2 for this to work including stock recovery and all the bloatware still installed.

And below is a .3 stock rooted, deodexed rom if your currently rooted.

I'm not rooted and the leaked. RUU version .2 won't accept the patch. I've tried the patch from. 2 to .3 I titled it update.zip, that didn't work, nor did naming it PB31IMG.zip So any other ideas on how the patch could work??
Is some demand

I've seen at least two others here post this same problem on xda and several other Incredible forums. Problem is everyone seems to assume that the RUU exists. I've checked 8 droid forums and Nada, so if you'll go to the trouble, I'll donate to you for your time. If that's a kosher thing to post. Just let me know.
Yep, according to VZW

If you loaded the leaked RUU, you won't get the OTA, nor will the .2 to .3 patch work with the leaked RUU. Grnlantern79 says he will make one of there is demand so message him and let him know.

I installed leak Ruu (.2) and then downloaded .3 patch. I left leaked ruu on sd as pg31 or whatever and then made the patch called update zip and reboot and installed from recovery. I'm not rooted

Not true i went from the leaked .2 to .3 using the ota update i posted above. So i know its possible.
Are you guys compleet stock .2 meaning everything stock besides having s-off. You have to have stock recovery and all bloatware still installed for the update patch to work. If your deodexed have installed battery or other mods or removed system apps the update wont work.

OK, one more time. I downloaded the leaked RUU, S-on, no root, nothing. Then tried to use the OTA I downloaded from an XDA post. Didn't work. Was told to do a device wipe factory reset. Did that and the OTA still didn't work. I found your patch, downloaded, put on root of sd card and titled update.zip pulled battery, held down vol button and nothing happened except saying no PB31IMG.zip so I chose recovery. Phone rebooted into recovery, green arrow and circle, then it goes to the red triangle arrow. Nothing, nothing, nothing, so I reboot. Please tell me what I could have done differently.
Ahh sweet success!!

Here is what I had to do. Downloaded the (.2) leaked RUU, put in SD card root dir, and named PB31IMG.zip then downloaded your patch, renamed update and put in SD card root dir. Battery pull into bootloader, when asked to complete upgrade hit yes, when upgrade done, DO NOT reboot, go back to bootloader and the update will start. You'll be greeted with a screen saying you've successfully upgraded to (.3)

No there was an official ota patcher sent out by verizon to the people who got the .2 ota before they pulled it. It is not a full rom just a patch to go from .2 to .3. Since it is from and signed by verizon people with s-on on .2 should still be able to upgrade with it, i did with no issues.
For all you people on .2 who cant get to .3 im not sure what the issue is. I went from the leaked .2 to .3 with the exact file i posted earlier named update.zip on the root of my sd thru hboot. Went thru the first time with out a single issue. Now i was s-off when i did it but i have given these instructions to others who were s-on and they have reported it worked for them too. The only other thing i can think of that might be an issue is your hboot version. I am on hboot 0.92, mabey it dosent work on older or newer hboot versions. Just a guess, either way if that is the issue there is nothing you can do about it with s-on. You are stuck at .2 untill someone comes up with a way to root gingerbread, or vzw pushes an even newer update. You could try to use z4root from the market to see if you can get temporary root and if you can edit build.prop to make it seem as though your on froyo 2.1 to the update servers. It should then prompt you to download the newest ota ie .3 and hopefully that would install and work.

Hi guys
At the moment i've recieved an update which says the version code is: ota_btavo_htc_eu_2.10.405.2-2.09.405.8_release567cypyi0feo4th5.zip
My current version is froyo 2.2 now, should i let my phone to upgrade this update, or will it downgrade my phone?
My phone is also rooted, is there a problem about this?

You just can't install it as you're rooted

Eddy, I'm quoting your post on the other thread for clarification..
If this is an OTA, why cant he update it via Recovery? Would it still mess up the system?
It CAN mess it up, it's never a good idea to flash a stock update on a rooted phone...read other posts (not just mine ) and you'll see other people say this

Understood..
I'm little bit confused right now, sorry for being a rookie but can you explain this a little : "You'll need to turn off signature checking in your Recovery and then flash the update.zip as you would any other OTA but yes it should go through"
What should i do now, unroot? if so how, or what's this update's benefit, if its not so necessary i can pass it..
thanks by the way
Easiest way - find a custom ROM based on that ROM version. Most Sense-based ROMs should be on it by now
Other option is to unroot using the 2.10.405.2 RUU, or the 2.29.405.2 RUU. Then root again should you want to but if you're just going to put a custom ROM back on then there's no point
I have an unbranded T-Mobile Desire HD running 1.32 it has full root with S=off, CID is standard tmobile and the standard recovery – the rom is intact no apps have been removed.
I have downloaded the OTA 102 mb it verifies ok but on boot fails about 10% into the update. I guess it is verifying something before proceeding with the update. It fails with a red triangle centre screen with a red exclamation mark
Does anyone know why the update stops with a red warning triangle and I have to take the battery out to restart the phone.
Hi
I have the same problem but my DHD was never branded ,never rooted, i already did a factory reset no app was removed.
I also get the red triangle after that if push POWER + VOLUME UP i get Android system recovery screen
where i can see the following

Try deleting the OTA file from your sdcard and downloading it again, maybe it just didnt download properly, so some files are damaged.
@starfish. The ota won't work if your rooted. You have two options 1) ruu back to stock *no root* then apply the update but will be rootless 2) flash a rooted stock gingerbread Rom(my recommendation)
@night. The download my be corrupted. Try deleting it and download and apply the ota

Just to save everyone some time - nope, re-downloading won't work. If you've rooted you're phone, HTC has taken a rather cavalier attitude towards installing this update.
Still taking a bash at it, but for now the only dependable methods of getting this to work is either downloading and flashing a stock RUU, or downloading and flashing a ROM that's already got the 2.3 update installed.
Please note that, in either of these scenarios, you won't have root access anymore. So far, trying to root via Visionary on 2.3 hasn't been successful - fails on temproot. Haven't tried manually rooting it yet.
Also as noted on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1084381
Be careful when reverting to factory default on 2.3 - there seems to be an option for clearing the SD Card as well.
I do have a couple of frozen apps - I'll unfreeze them and try again
but from what is said it seems that if I:
1 un-root 1.32 (using visionary) and leave s=off
2 then the update should install.
3 I can them use ginger-break to get root again and then perm root?

My error is the same as your yet I am root s-off
It seems that status 7 failures maybe a version mix issue - old nexus thread
Same as before. After you go through the steps and reboot, you will be at 2.3.2. Here is where things get interesting. It seems that you need another update. Its for people who get the “Status 7″ error.
This is mostly due to a firmware (those who have: GRH78C or GRH78). Here you will need to apply the LAST UPDATE, the same way you applied update1 and update2:
http://blog.vpetkov.net/2011/03/11/google-nexus-s-update-manually-to-2-3-1-2-3-2-and-2-3-3/

OK after some reading and with starfish's link, I think night falls under the mixed version issues some people had on the nexus. Some people were not able to jump directly to the newest update (2.3 to 2.3.4). They had to update in steps. From your post you are on build 1.32. I think you need to jump up to the 1.7x/1.8x/1.9x ota before going up to gingerbread.
But thanks to andyharney you can ruu up gingerbread.
Here's is his link to the gingerbread ruu. Just rename it and.flash through hboot. This way though will erase everything so make.sure to back up stuff

There is no need to flash the RUU if you're on stock firmware and rooted (running clockworkmod that is). With little modifications to the update zip it can be flashed without problems and root will pertain. I've done it myself 10 days ago. I'll write up the guide for you in an hour or so.

Thanks...... are these prerooted?
The RUU has to be run from a windows machine. Renaming it will not work.
I do however have the OTA file on my site now. You can find that HERE.
Not sure if you have to rename it to update.zip or leave it as it is, but you flash it in bootloader/recovery.
Hi Starfish I had the same problem had to unroot and get S-OFF to get the 2.3 update via OTA. Now obviously have 2.3 Gingerbread but with unrooted and S-ON.
Your best bet is to flash with 2.3 RUU as you have S-OFF and then use Ginger break to root so then you will have 2.3 that's S-OFF and rooted still.

Is it possible to downgrade from the new Gingerbread release back to Froyo? I would love to be able to get back to the previous version and root my phone. I really don't see much different in Gingerbread that would make it worth keeping. Also, is there any hope of unrevoked working on Gingerbread anytime soon?

If you were not rooted and had S-OFF before you installed the update, then no there is no way to downgrade now. I imagine there will be a new root method for Gingerbread, but nobody knows when that will happen.
Jeff
actually, having S-OFF would be a good thing right? meaning you can reflash an older stock rom through HBoot.....I think what you mean is having S-ON and having the new Gingerbread release is where you cant re-root it.....I'm personally in that boat and I havent even recieved the "new new" Gingerbread, I just have the August 17 OTA (605.2) still waiting for the (605.3) OTA to get to me.

Yes, I mean if you were not rooted and had S-ON then you would not be able to root again until there was a fix. My mistake.
I think the rollout should be completed by the end of the week. The original rollout in August was going to take a week to complete.
I'm not sure if I understand this correctly. I just checked and I am S-Off so does that mean it's possible to install a different ROM? If so, how do I do that in this case?

You need to make sure you have ClockworkMod Recovery installed and then it's just a question of finding a Froyo ROM. You can install via the recovery or ROM Manager, just like normal.
S-Off + ClockworkMod = any ROM you want, any time, forever
I'm not going to specifically point anything out, but If you search around for posts you should be able to find something. I know there's a few posts about it because that's the only think I found when I was searching.
EDIT: looks like someone beat me to the reply, check out Zoon0n's reply.

If you don't have the Superuser app in your app drawer, you aren't rooted. You'll need to flash a recovery using HBOOT, and naming the zip PB31IMG.zip method.

During the last OTA, I did not want to upgrade so I modified the build.prop file. I am rooted via unrevoked s-off stock 2.2
How can I get the OTA 2.3.4 to run on my phone?
Thanks for any advise!

If you have ClockworkMod Recovery, you'll need Android Recovery.
Thanks for all of your replies. I have the slcd screen and the last time I tried to flash a rom it almost bricked my phone. It was a huge head ache, so I stopped. When I had an Eris, I was flashing roms all the time... but there was something about the way the slcd screen and some roms would work and others would not...
I hope this works...
Not sure if having an SLCD screen has anything to do with it. I have an SLCD screen and i have flashed many Roms with no issue. Which Roms have you tried installing?
I am stuck in Stock "Firmware Version 2.1-update 1" with Software Number 1.47.651.1 and even though I constantly check for OTA updates, the phone says that there are no updates for my phone.
Here is how I got here: I got my Evo 4G a few days after it came out. I was an early adopter of Unrevoked and Unrevoked Forever (S-Off). Things were great. Eventually, an OTA slipped by and forced my phone into a boot loop. I was able to use Clockwork to restore one of my backups and then avoid further OTA's.
I decided that I wanted to go stock, and get to the newest OTA. I used the RUU method to get my phone back to its stock rom. Then, the phone found two OTA updates. I thought that it probably had to update in several steps instead of jumping right to the latest update, so I just accepted the first two OTA's that it found. Unfortunately, the phone will not find any more updates and I am stuck with 2.1 (1.47.651.1).
I also noticed that when I boot into recovery, there is no "recovery" there. I see the word recovery, but when I select recovery it takes me to a red triangle with an exclamation point in the middle. I tried to download and install the 2.3.3 OTA Rom by renaming it to update.zip and putting it on my sd card, but I got some errors and it would not install.
I wonder if having S-Off has anything to do with the phone refusing to find the newest OTA updates? Or maybe I need a new radio? But if I reverted all the weay back to stock, wouldn't all of this been taken care of during the RUU method?
If anyone can help me get to the newest official version of Android, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks very much!
You need to install a recovery, I suggest amon-ra, then download a rom and flash it through recovery. Sounds like you just don't have a recovery installed
We're comin from a pure power source.
But am I unrooted now that I went back to stock with the RUU? If so, can I flash a recovery?
Thanks!
once u get to the little evo with the exclamation point, hit volume up and power at the same time. It takes u to a stock recovery. Or just flash a custom recovery as said above as a PC36IMG.zip flash a custom rom and viola! Or the other method u can do is take it to a sprint store and have THEM run the stock 2.2 RUU, get you to 2.3.3 and you should be able to update to the OFFICIAL AOS but of course as with anything stock, you run the risk of losing full root. But I doubt it because I just rooted a stock evo with the latest 4.54 OTA update just fine. hope this helps. Good luck with any way you choose to go.
Whether you are s-off or s-on doesn't matter to run the latest 4. 54 ruu. Download it and run it. U will then have latest software. Then if ur not s-off go to revolutionary.io and get s-off'ed
