Is this new Market????

Was wondering if this is what the new Market looks like. When I first got my Epic the Market was the same but once I rooted and installed Froyo it looked like this. Weird thing is the shots are taken from my rooted Evo running Myn's RLS 4. Up until last night I had his themed Market but I wake up this morning & the Market looks like this. Everything else looks the same. Can your Market just randomly just update itself because that is what seems like happened to me.

No, that is actually the OLD market. You phone has somehow retrograded itself to the market from 3 years ago. Weird.

WOW! The OLD Market???? This just gets stranger by the second! How the heck did I get the old Market? Haven't flashed anything since the release of Myn's 4. You say old but its kind of new to me. I didnt hope on the Android bandwagon until the Hero and I've never seen this one. I actually think it looks better than the current one. Any ideas of how this happened & how I can get back to the new Market or at least Myn's themed one. I'm assuming a wipe & fresh install are my only options. Still got me bugged out to as how & why my phone downgraded itself, especially seeing as how the Evo never had this Market to my knowledge.

And what would that have told me? Got more important things to do then memorize the version number of every app that is on my phone. Version 2.2.7 could be 200.2.7 for all I really care. I saw that it looked different overnight & don't remember updating anything so that was why I asked. A simple yes,
no or ignore & kick rocks was all that was needed.

generally when a big change is made to an app or rom the highest digit changes. IE 2.7-3.0.

People who had rooted 2.2 can flash a rooted 2.3 Rom, but people who have an unrooted 2.3 from taking the its can't root yet.

Yeah it may be annoying to see people asking but 90% of you are down right dicks to people. Chill out, and answer their questions, and throw in a link or two to a thread that goes in to more detail of the situation.

While I agree with ur statement I also have to say that when u start a new thread and type in rooting 2.3.3 or something similar there are results of similar asked questions and from there you can read up instead of starting a whole new thread

I agree completely. And I think that people should be informed of the way things are ran around here. I just don't like people who feel the need to be downright obnoxious to people for making a mistake. The damage is done by that point, answer the question, and inform them that they should search from now on. It disgusts me that people get so high and mighty on forums.

Regardless of what question is asked.. Most likely the person asking didn't come in here to ruin someones day or make a similar question to someone else. They simply came here to ask a question or get some advice.. To actually take the time to post some idiotic insult is beyond moronic and basically just says you have nothing better to do with your time than troll forums and bash people for what you "obviously" already know.. This equates to one possible solution for everyone involved.. GET A LIFE!!!

To answer what someone else asked.
I dont think it is possible to do anything with a phone that has a OTA update if Gingerbread on it. I remember reading that it is not possible to undo that update. you simply must wait for the Root to come out, which should be soon.
These Devs are some of the smartest people on the planet, and should be working for HTC et al. They are most likely waiting for some code to be released, just like I am waiting for some coding to be released to I can get a new Kernel for my Synergy ROM.

There is still hope

For those of you still waiting for your D Inc 2 there is still hope for 2.2.1. The first one I received was 2.3 but Verizon just sent me another and it was indeed 2.2.1. So everyone reading these dreaded posts of no root just know there is still hope.

Also, you post asking about Sense 3.0 ROMs is unnecessary as well. You only need to go into the Development section and look at the first page of threads to see what ROMs we have. Thats really funny that you come on here trying to start something when if you had any intelligence you would know that not every ROM available is on that thread. Do you see CM 7? Or for that fact any sense 3.0 ROMs on there? There are at least 5 ROMs that arent on that thread along with probably 3 or 4 kernals. Dont talk when you dont know what your talking about.

First of all, reading > you. I said NOTHING about a thread. I'm talking about just going into the Development section and LOOKING. CM7 is right there. If there were a Sense 3.0 ROM, I guarantee it would be on the first page of threads too.
Next, this thread was pointless since all you had to do was a quick search to find a recovery package.
Next, you started this, this, and this could all have been posted in the same thread. But instead you felt it necessary to start all new threads and con-volute the forums.
And, on top of all of that, when I come in here and NICELY ask you to stop posting unnecessary threads, you get an attitude. So, according to my count, with this thread, Sense 3.0, recovery question, and the 3 rooting threads, 5 of your 7 threads in here are complete garbage. I would love to see how you defend yourself on starting all those threads.

Well the Sense 3.0 ROM was on the 3rd page I believe. Wrong on you. Those 3 threads were called I was in discussion with a couple devs from other communities and spread the ideas which were all at different times. And the recovery question had nothing to do with wanting a recovery image. I just asked if Alpharev flashes one for you. Maybe you should read before you start sifting through the forums showing you have no life. This argument is done. Try putting your little mind power to something else besides sitting on my nuts.

I think I am done rooting- thoughts?

Maybe it's just bad luck, but I have had issues no matter with ROM I use. The last two times after crashing, my GN could not even restart in Bootloader so I was forced to get a replacement phone. Only got a few months of use on the first one before this problem happened again. I'm always finding some kind of annoying bug and I am getting tired of trying to determine why this keeps happening, so I thought I'd post and share just to see if anyone had advice. I love all the features in AOKP, but the crashes have hurt me the most. I have tried many others but think I'll stick with stock for now. I love the GN because of the beautiful and large screen. Unfortunately, Verizon will not give me another phone of equal or lesser value and I cannot upgrade until 10/13. I'm starting to think the GN is just not very ROOT friendly.
Does this happen to anyone else? I'm not nearly as techie as I'd like to be, but I've learned so much from this forum and loved all the ROMS I used- when they worked that is.

what? this phone is the easiest phone to root/unlock the bootloader. you cant get more friendly than that.
when you say crash... what do you mean? ive had 0 problems out of aokp.

Here is what has happened the last two times. I turned the phone on and Ill I got was the "goolgle" screen. Nothing else, kept flashing on and off. Tried to restart directly into bootloader but no success. This has happened multiple times now. Rooting is not difficult for me, until this issue came along. Until I can figure out why that happened I don't want to try again. Haven't heard of this problem yet so please understand my frustration and lack of words to describe what is happening.

Rooting couldn't possibly cause that.
Bad hardware, memory corruption, bad flash of a kernel or rom maybe, but not root.

sounds like a bad kernel flash or rom flash
just adding root, does not do what you just described.

I agree with the rest. Rooting just gives you access to options and settings that you normally can't access. So you either got bum phones or you did something or had bad flash

sound like you were running a kernel with default fsync off and risky mount options. when it crashed, it lost everything.

Appreciate the help, and glad to hear. I did change kernels and that sounds like where the problem lies. I'm not too sure I really care much about kernels, so I will try again and keep whatever kernel the ROM comes with.

Well, before mucking around, search some of the forums, because this problem is not caused by the ROM, or the phone. OSs only crash, wehn you're asking to much of them, eg.: Windows, open too many processes, it shuts itself down, so it doesn't burn out the RAM, it's just protecting itself.
Imagine you would have to work in an office, type three essays and phone with a multi-millionar client, all at the same time, then you know how an OS feels, when you ask too much of it. Just do one thing at a time, let it finish one job, before starting another, and don't overclock the CPU too much, 1.4 GHz, on both cores is enough to run Windows Vista, 7 and 8 64x, let alone the Android OS, which managed to run fine an a hTC nexus one...
If you really want some advice, from someone who has gone through 20 computer OSs and 6 smartphones in one year, then read on;
Take your phone and root it, to get the most out of it. Enjoy the phone whilst you have it and NEVER, EVER say an Android is not "root-friendly". Follow that piece of advice, with the tips I mentioned above, and you'll NEVER have a crash again (BTW, here's a quick one: take stock AOSP, flash the imgs and then put one feature on the, at a time... )

Found the SGSII for .96 cents for an upgrade, what should I do to it?

Found the Samsung Epic 4g Touch for .96 cents at Sam's Club and I am going to pick it up tomorrow. I know I don't want the stock Sprint crap and I want Wimax tethering. What do you think will be the best rom to do this with? I understand I will be getting opinions only.

Welcome. There is no best ROM, its a matter of personal preference. You're going to get flamed and this thread will probably get locked. Better luck next time... spend time reading before flashing, it is possible to brick

I have been reading and this is for opinions only, I know every rom is different that is why I asked for opinions to figure which fits me better. This was the first phone forum that actually had a q&a area so I thought that was what it was for. My bad if I screwed up.

You should just buy my device for 170$

You should try out some roms and see. This thread will be locked by papa smurf though. We have had a ton of these posts lately good luck

Your question is one of your taste and your taste only. Go read the OPs of the Rom's and decide for yourself.
All you're asking for is fans of this rom, that rom, this build, that build to weigh in. So, what's the point?

Shame on you for assuming everyone doesn't read first, I have been perusing the Epic 4g touch for the last 2 weeks but I still like other users opinions. I mean the internet is for acquiring knowledge and learning in different ways, no it wasn't made for porn and cat pictures. When I buy something off the internet I read all the reviews by individuals I can to make sure the item is OK, these reviews are their opinions, and I ask for opinions as well. I mean seriously I know every single one of you guys probably do the same thing. No one buys blindly so yes I will always ask for other people opinions. It is the only way I found out using CM7.2 on my current LG Optimus S is what I was looking for. If you all want to be rude and not answer that is your choice but I will always ask.

I only said Nazi mod because of the way you guys were talking about him, I personally don't know him yet. I want people to weigh in on what they like about a rom, yes, so I can decide if that feature is something that would work for me. I am sorry to say that a person who created a rom is going to say everything they can to praise their rom, I know i would, so I don't go buy it alone. Especially if it will be my daily driver, i would rather not have to try a rom out everyday. Yes, I read what other people say as well but the only people who usually talk in a rom thread are the people who like it, not everyone will say what they don't like about it.

I think what most were thinking is that there are plenty of threads with people asking the same question in this forum... They just wanted you to look instead of opening a new thread. I wouldn't flame someone because depending on what you are using to view xda, sometimes you don't have all the options you do when on the internet and end up posting in wrong places... In your case, you asked a question i have seen in the last couple of weeks at least four times. Do get discouraged just check prior threads for this phone first.

I would recommend trying out a whole bunch of different ones, there are plenty of stable ROMs out there man, its all about what fits you best, I couldn't tell you has many I flashed before I found the one I currently rock. Good luck and welcome to the SgSII world!
