why no 4g with gingerbread

Why is 4g and hdmi such a Hugh problem with gingerbread roms? Gingerbread is just a dot release mainly bug fixes and all. so then why no wimax?

There is a gingerbread rom with 4g. Or wimax... try looking on the front page......also the reason why 4g and HDMI are difficult is because they are tied into sense.

ROM Development - only meant for very advanced technical discussion directly related to ROM development activity and the delivery of actual ROMs and ROM components ONLY. Nothing else goes in here.

Because of Hugh's obvious error with 4G/HDMI in Gingerbread, he has been fired. Development will now be handled by HTC. They promise a Gingerbread ROM with 4G and HDMI in… 8 months. 10/5/2011: mark your calendars.

Look a couple of threads down and see the CM7 W/ WiMax thread. Its based off of CM7 Nightly build 24.

Lmao I couldn't stop laughing for a while, I knew he would get flame, anyways back to the topic Idk how much knowledge you have about development roms in general and what stage the Evo is in the moment, to start the Evo is in froyo version 2.2 (there is a version 2.2.1 and 2.2.2) and it was released by sprint/HTC which they make the codes for the front facing camera (back then it was the first Android device with it that I know) , 4G and HDMI so they practically used they own source not android (but it did involved android) now cm7(gingerbread 2.3.2) is based on AOSP (android open source project) and the developer/s cynogen get all their source from Google android open source which back then(eclair 2.1/froyo 2.2) they didn't have a way to make the ffc camera and wimax (now they have ffc camera but not wimax or HDMI) , what really good developers are doing is writing a code for wimax almost 8 months later (is really hard to make it from scratch is not just a copy and paste job, they been working on it for months ) to work on an aosp rom which is great, the ones on sense (wimax/4G) don't work cause is tied to sense framework, so until HTC realease a official update the Evo will be considerer gingerbread (2.3.1/2.3.2) and HDMI and4G will work if they ever update it BTW this thing ain't easy to do and that's one thing the android fragmentation with all carriers and phone makers have a problem with and that's where cynogen mod come to the rescue ha ha, cm/sense user BTW

+1 on that... I honestly see more people asking real (hate to say it) stupid questions in here more than anything else. Nobody takes the time out to look for sh&t and then get mad when they are told to do some research. Thats why we have pages and pages of people destroying their phones. Keep up the good work guys of smacking people like this around it keeps me coming back and laughing....

There is still hope

For those of you still waiting for your D Inc 2 there is still hope for 2.2.1. The first one I received was 2.3 but Verizon just sent me another and it was indeed 2.2.1. So everyone reading these dreaded posts of no root just know there is still hope.

Thats really funny that you come on here trying to start something when if you had any intelligence you would know that not every ROM available is on that thread. Do you see CM 7? Or for that fact any sense 3.0 ROMs on there? There are at least 5 ROMs that arent on that thread along with probably 3 or 4 kernals. Dont talk when you dont know what your talking about.

First of all, reading > you. I said NOTHING about a thread. I'm talking about just going into the Development section and LOOKING. CM7 is right there. If there were a Sense 3.0 ROM, I guarantee it would be on the first page of threads too.
Next, this thread was pointless since all you had to do was a quick search to find a recovery package.
Next, you started this, this, and this could all have been posted in the same thread. But instead you felt it necessary to start all new threads and con-volute the forums.
And, on top of all of that, when I come in here and NICELY ask you to stop posting unnecessary threads, you get an attitude. So, according to my count, with this thread, Sense 3.0, recovery question, and the 3 rooting threads, 5 of your 7 threads in here are complete garbage. I would love to see how you defend yourself on starting all those threads.

Well the Sense 3.0 ROM was on the 3rd page I believe. Wrong on you. Those 3 threads were called I was in discussion with a couple devs from other communities and spread the ideas which were all at different times. And the recovery question had nothing to do with wanting a recovery image. I just asked if Alpharev flashes one for you. Maybe you should read before you start sifting through the forums showing you have no life. This argument is done. Try putting your little mind power to something else besides sitting on my nuts.

I read if i have 2.15 I can downgrade. Can someone help with downgrading instructions?

Look, it's not that there isn't any flexibility as far as content on the various sections. But if you post to the development section, there's an expectation that at least some research was done prior to making the post. That really goes for all the sections, but in particular the development section since that's where all the "action" happens, so to speak.
To top it off, the asinine response of "have you found it for me yet?" (I'm paraphrasing, of course) pretty much means that the OP is either too lazy to ever become a worthwhile member of the community, or he's a troll.

I wouldn't consider downgrading and rooting to be a GENERAL question. Common perhaps, but not general for a Phone. But ok fine, you win.

I'm sticking with lazy. right at the top of this forum is a thread on rooting. its hard to miss. it never moves from that location. first post even says that there is no root for 2.3.3 stock.

Found the SGSII for .96 cents for an upgrade, what should I do to it?

Found the Samsung Epic 4g Touch for .96 cents at Sam's Club and I am going to pick it up tomorrow. I know I don't want the stock Sprint crap and I want Wimax tethering. What do you think will be the best rom to do this with? I understand I will be getting opinions only.

Welcome. There is no best ROM, its a matter of personal preference. You're going to get flamed and this thread will probably get locked. Better luck next time... spend time reading before flashing, it is possible to brick

I have been reading and this is for opinions only, I know every rom is different that is why I asked for opinions to figure which fits me better. This was the first phone forum that actually had a q&a area so I thought that was what it was for. My bad if I screwed up.

You should just buy my device for 170$

You should try out some roms and see. This thread will be locked by papa smurf though. We have had a ton of these posts lately good luck

Your question is one of your taste and your taste only. Go read the OPs of the Rom's and decide for yourself.
All you're asking for is fans of this rom, that rom, this build, that build to weigh in. So, what's the point?

Instead of asking everyone to do the work for you, read through the numerous posts on the different roms available and decide for yourself.

Shame on you for assuming everyone doesn't read first, I have been perusing the Epic 4g touch for the last 2 weeks but I still like other users opinions. I mean the internet is for acquiring knowledge and learning in different ways, no it wasn't made for porn and cat pictures. When I buy something off the internet I read all the reviews by individuals I can to make sure the item is OK, these reviews are their opinions, and I ask for opinions as well. I mean seriously I know every single one of you guys probably do the same thing. No one buys blindly so yes I will always ask for other people opinions. It is the only way I found out using CM7.2 on my current LG Optimus S is what I was looking for. If you all want to be rude and not answer that is your choice but I will always ask.

I only said Nazi mod because of the way you guys were talking about him, I personally don't know him yet. I want people to weigh in on what they like about a rom, yes, so I can decide if that feature is something that would work for me. I am sorry to say that a person who created a rom is going to say everything they can to praise their rom, I know i would, so I don't go buy it alone. Especially if it will be my daily driver, i would rather not have to try a rom out everyday. Yes, I read what other people say as well but the only people who usually talk in a rom thread are the people who like it, not everyone will say what they don't like about it.

I think what most were thinking is that there are plenty of threads with people asking the same question in this forum... They just wanted you to look instead of opening a new thread. I wouldn't flame someone because depending on what you are using to view xda, sometimes you don't have all the options you do when on the internet and end up posting in wrong places... In your case, you asked a question i have seen in the last couple of weeks at least four times. Do get discouraged just check prior threads for this phone first.

I would recommend trying out a whole bunch of different ones, there are plenty of stable ROMs out there man, its all about what fits you best, I couldn't tell you has many I flashed before I found the one I currently rock. Good luck and welcome to the SgSII world!

A plea for help.
I am the definition of a noob. I have spent the last several days trying to find the root for my sm-n910v 6.0.1 note 4 and have come up empty. Now, I am quite certain that I am missing it; I humbly ask for someones direction in where to find what I am looking for. Any help is appreciated.

Think you'll have to downgrade to 5.1.1 but not 100% sure on that. Should be able to post in the thread I linked before you follow those instructions.

I love trying to help people. I don't love trying to help people that won't try to help themselves.
Before I go messing with a $600 phone, I want to know all I can about what I'm doing first. The only way to do that is to peruse the threads, sniffing out the difficulties others had so I might avoid those difficulties.

I agree. It's one thing to help people who need it, but it's totally something else to help people who are just too lazy to look through the general and development threads. We all started out as noobs, but come on.

Kingroot will not work with MM with an unlocked bootloader. I know this from expierence. I have a retail Note 4 converted to the developer ed. with a unlock bootloader on MM. And it will not root currently. I think I found thru the grapevine it needs a modified kernel.

Kingroot probably won't work on an unlocked bootloader. That's not how you get root with an unlocked bootloader.
I doubt a kernel is keeping a phone from rooting.

You need to flash a hybrid firmware containing the MM bootloader/modem and the LL OS, which can be rooted.

Read them both, read around in the thread a bit, and use search there. Chances are your issue is addressed.
And personally, I believe you should do a little research before asking. If you can't find a definitive answer, then ask, but show that you have at least tried. I think you were called lazy because, to be fair, this thread is pretty prominently displayed in the main section. On the other hand, it is usually better to just give someone the link and hope they figure out how to use the forums.

If someone says "do your research," it can be a little annoying, but really, if you have the time to root your phone, unlock your bootloader and possibly install custom ROMs, you should have time to look up how to do that. You shouldn't attack someone, even if they come off as a little rude. If someone attacks you, just report the post and don't 'fan the flame,' so to speak.

I've been around since HTC Dream and never seen a question get an answer like that. I agree with Zacharee1 but will add an addendum to it:
If you don't have anything helpful to say, don't reply to the post at all.
I also won't respond to negativity, just brings the community to a place we shouldn't go.
