For all of you that updated to Froyo 2.2(OTA or leaked) and have the Sirius App, might notice a problem with your app. There is a looping problem and skipping problem. You will be listening to the radio and all of a sudden you will hear it start over again, or it will just skip forward. It seems everyone with Froyo, on any device is having this problem.
I just got off the phone with Sirius. Supposedly, they thought they fixed this problem which started with Nexus 1 and Froyo and has now continued on to the EVO 4G. The Sirius Rep said he wasn't sure what they reported, but this is what the Tech support told each caller. They told everyone that called to go to application in settings area. Go to the Sirius App. First, clear data or clear cache(most likely data). Then, uninstall the Sirius App and then reinstall it. See if that fixes the problem. Of, course, by reading the other forums, it didn't fix anything. But, for some odd reason, not many people called back to tell Sirius that their fix didn't work.
So now on to me. First, like everyone else, we all have the looping/repeating issue, with skipping also. Everyone has had this problem since updating to Froyo 2.2. I told tech support this and they have now escalated back the problem. Before I called, I did what was told to do, clear data, uninstall the Sirius App and then reinstall the Sirius APP, and still got the same problem. This is important. Everyone now needs to call Sirius and let them know about the problem. You must first try the clear data and uninstall and reinstall first before you call, because they will ask if you tried this first. The more people that call, the faster it will get fixed, because it will become more of a priority. I also mentioned to the Tech Support for Sirius that I was on the EVO 4G, and we just got Froyo, 2.2 yesterday, and the Droid is getting it today and Droid X and Incredible soon afterwards. They better correct the problem before they get flooded with calls. The Tech guy said for me to go onto the forums and tell everyone that is having this problem to call Sirius.
So, if you are having the looping/skipping problem with the Sirius App since installing Froyo, call Sirius now and ask for tech support.
You are telling me that no one with the EVO 4G with Froyo, and has the Sirius Application installed, is having any of these problems?

Actually I wasn't aware of this problem and confirmed its happening for me as well.
Thanks for the heads up...I'll call...
I updated to 2.2 yesterday and I had no issues with the Sirius app except the sound is awful now.
edit: ok..it worked yesterday afternoon now it's doing the skipping/looping problem as described in the OP
edit 2: i switched channels and switched it back..it seems to get rid of the looping then dead air...
Ok, what the heck? It ran fine on froyo yesterday. Now mine is doing the same thing. Seems worse when using 3g, on WiFi I could get through one song.
Are you guys contacting the regular support line, or is there a better point of contact for this?

If your rooted you can apply the following.
Code:
adb setprop media.stagefright.enable-player false
Once applied you will have to reboot your phone for it to work.
This probably cause some adverse affect on YouTube streaming..

Nice, signed up for the update notification.....I encourage everyone else to as well, this will show that we want this. If only a few people sign up for the reminder they may take this as a sign that nobody is interested.
Well, I was having the notorious "voice to text" issue with gingerbread. Not the Google Search issue. That was resolved by uninstalling then reinstalling the app.
I just flashed this mod from the MikMik.com forum. The " Stock_v2.3_HTC_IME_Revert-signed.zip". It instantly fixed the issue and haven't had any problems since. Both on my phone and my wife's.
Just thought I would share this for those of you that have had the same problems as me.

1. Boot into recovery.
2. Wiped cache & dalvik/cache.
3. Flashed zip from sdcard.

Thanks for the prompt response.....let me ask you...I've read that checking "Personalized Recongnition" in voice input settings will help or fix....have you tried that before...or know....???
I tried everything I could think of. As mentioned in the OP, the voice to text was an independent issue from the Google Search issue. So none of the Google Search solutions work for this problem.
I even unistalled then re-installed the voice search.apk. I noticed that the only time it didn't work was when I was using the keyboard then pressed the voice button. That is what gave me the idea of using a keyboard mod.

Thanks again for the response, advice and tips....I did download and flash the mod....and sorry to say no real difference...other than my only keyboard choice now is the sywipe....which is OK...it works perfectly at home, office and modest sound, but did not work today in the car....not at all...did work when I stopped, like at a light....my main use of the voice to text was "texting or emailing while driving"...ha-ha....apparently I shouldn't do that anyway.....I suppose a "real" fix like a modified mod will come along...by the way I have a Sprint EVO that's rooted with the latest Fresh Rom...hardware version 0003...

I may point out....to give light on this....muted mic background noise theory......I have a blueAnt bluetooth headset with "noise cancellation high" as an option.....in the car, the voice to text works OK with my blueant on....meaning...the"mic" doesn't hear the background noise....the new fancy bluetooth ear pieces work pretty good...
Hello,
I've loved this phone since it came out, but just recently my camera started to not focus. Every once in a while it won't open at all. I've tried changing the settings in app, clearing the data under settings>applications, uninstalled and reinstalled. I've even tried a few of the camera apps from the market. Nothing.
I've done a few searches, but seem to only get threads for other phones. Apparently i'm not very good at searching this site. Anyhow, if anybody knows of a fix for this, or can point me in the right direction, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks!

Are you rooted and running a custom ROM?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
If you've tried everything software/ROM related as far as re-installing/flashing I hate to say that it could probably be hardware related and you may need a replacement phone. I had this happen a month ago .. focus was never in place, tried everything, multiple roms, apps, wiping, etc. Turned out it was hardware, the camera board went ka-poot.
My gs2 is rooted and running TDJ's DARKSIDE.UCLE2::[BETA05].
So.... If it is a hardware issue, i'm hoping it is still under warranty. If it is, do you think TMO is going to give me hell for having the phone rooted? Do I need to go back to stock before I go see them?

Anyways, can any one help me. I updated to jelly bean OTA, and since then my LGOG does not like to send text messages out. My phone will not send messages shorter than 10-20 characters. Im in the CHICAGO area. No problem receiving them, just more often then not i get a failed sent. I have tried resetting the phone hard/soft. I took my phone into sprint and they said I need a new phone. Wtf! Anyone have this issue, or have any ideas to resolve this?
Im pretty disapointed right now, the phone was flawless before the update! Never had a single problem before. Thanks in advance.
UPDATE.. In conclusion,if anyone is interested, I believe the new jellybean update just doesn't play well with my towers in my area of Chicago. With the jelly bean update my voice signal was excellent, but the data signal was degraded. I always noticed, with ics while 4glte was connected, the voice signal was less. With jelly bean it seemed to be just the opposite at all times, great voice so so data connection. Only if i could have both and jellybean wtf?? Maybe someone could help me on here and explain a radio/jelly combo i would have best of both worlds.
Seems to be a Chicago issue.
**Either way I aquired LGNPST and original TOT file and reflashed the phone with original software and have not accepted the jellybean update for now.**
If you would like me to host the files needed PM me, I'll send you links.
I suposed I could have tried to reflash ZV9/ICS or ZV9 radios, but I bricked the phone before trying that.
I must have got the best phone out there. I've never had a problem with any software version we've had.

I have not tried the ## but ill give it a shot. Sprint may have done that.
More on this issue, it seems just not to send short messages. Like lol, no, yes anything shorter than a sentence. I have noticed tht long texts send fine, and picture text seem lightning fast. Whch is great, but cant respond to someone with a simple yes or no. Wtf
I have also noticed a bigger delay between automatic switching between 3g and 4g. Before the update the switching was seamless.
I have also rooted and reflased the ota, same issue. I did not flash the radios seperate tho.
The ## did not fix my text issue. Sprint store did do this as well.
Still have this same issue anyone figure anything out? Anyone have anymore suggestions i can try? Sprint does something on their end, and restore the phone with ## and it works for an hour, then back to the same issue.
Peteyo, are you in Chicago? Maybe it's it's a network issue. I'm having the same problem and so is my buddy. I can't believe more people aren't coming forward with this if it's a national thing.
But let me know if you find a fix, and I'll do the same. And you're right, it only happens on short messages!
Im in Chicago and having the same issues, even with other messenger apps that use stock mms, I also use whats app and have no issues. They seem to be random some send and some don't. If there is a fix please post it is a pain .

I have chalked it up to LG sucking! or I supose it could be sprint. The JB update they pushed changes the way the phone communicates with the towers. I grabbed bits and pieces from other threads with data problems and came to that conclusion. It doesn't appear to make issues with everyone, or have the same problems.
What i did, and what maybe the easiest is to reflash the phone back to its original form out of the box. Also im not accepting the ZVB/jelly bean update that messed up our phones. To return to original state, u must aquire LGSNPT, and Sprint`s original tot file. You can find these two in the developer sections. Its really easy and painless and get you right back where u need to be. The toughest part is putting your phone into download mode. vol+ vol- and power buttons.
Make sure u back up your pictures/things you may want to keep.
Option 2 you can **** around and try to find an ICS file, root your phone, and flash it back to ics. Or better yet root and flash ZV9 radios.
However im not sure if these will work. I have not been able to find ZV9 radios.
Option 3 if you have insurance get a new reman phone, or if no insurance pay sprint 50bucks for a reman phone. But you will still have the same issue if you update to ZVB/jellybean.
I wish I new more about this stuff and make a custom radio that has the voice improvements from ZVB/Jellybean, and the data from ICS/ZV9. Probably not even possible.

I'm in the Chicago area and noticed the same thing...
The strange part of all of this is that my text messages will always send if they are greater than about 10 to 20 characters. Anything smaller than that amount will give me a send failure. Has anyone else had that experience?
Data and Cell Reception have been stellar for myself since the update -- I believe I was having the texting issues before OTA (though I wasn't rooted at that point)

Don't you feel a greater level of sophistication when you have to type an entire sentence?
I'm sure it's Sprint trying to cut down on their SMS costs, but I'm not a conspiracy theorist.
Funny! I guess I should have just added a bunch of quick messages that are complete sentences for a yes or no answers. And the lesser 4g reception does slow down my midget porn downloading. Maybe it really is a win win...

Sure.
First, I'll say I'ave had this happen on other ROMS (although I don't remember which)>
I reflashed this ROM within the past two weeks. Complete wipe, and install apps from Play, not restore from TIBU, other than data for 2-3 apps. I did that because of Tasker constantly quitting. Was told to not restore it; install, and import (not restore) data. I might add that Tasker still blows up though.
I am not using custom kernel. Using the kernel that came with the ROM. I'm on LIquid Smooth 2.8.
My impression is that if I reflash, it will quite...for a while. I'd like to figure out what is causing this. Reflashing is becoming old.
So most of the ROMS you have tried said this error message. Did I understand it right?
If you can, can you produce a logcat when you get that error? I personally never done one but maybe that can shed some light on that.
I personally like doing all options possible if I have issues so have you tried going back to stock and trying to replicate this issue? If you can it sounds like a hardware issue with the microphone.

It's not on 'most' ROMS, but it has happened on others. I think I can do a logcat with one of the utilities on my phone. I've done it before at request of some other ROM owners, but then got no response after uploading it. Not sure I can tell much from it.

I'm updating all apps now. Google Search was not on the list to update, so I'm not thinking that will help....Ut-Ohhh...phone just rebooted during app upgrades.
I've been finding this phone to be a bit flaky lately. Fact is, I don't find any ROM I've tried, despite all the praises they get, to not have some issue other. If 4.3 ever gets out, stock, for this SGS3, I think I'll lay off of custom ROMS.
With regard to the microphone being bad...it works fine with Dragon, so the microphone is working.
I may restore an earlier Nandroid backup that was working and see if that works.
I'l post back how it goes.
Ok. I updated all apps, Google search wasn't one of them. It is working, except...one thing I've figure out is that now it does not work if my phone is hooked to any blue tooth device. Not sure what's up with that. I'm going to post in the ROM's Q&A thread about this and see what they say.
