Atrix backdoor cracking - Atrix 4G Accessories

I just noticed this after I took my Atrix out if its case, but it's cracked where pressure is put on the corners when taking it off. ):
Anyone else having this problem? Any idea what to do to seal the crack? Or do I have to buy a new backdoor? I just got my Atrix like 3 months ago.

Mine is doing the same thing. I don't think many things can fix it, considering you keep flexing, bending and cracking the plastic every time you have to take off the cover for a battery pull. Just be cautious when you take the cover off, don't forcefully rip it off.

like already said, just be careful while taking it off. you can find a new one here:
http://cnn.cn/shop/motorola-mb860-atrix-black-battery-cover-p-11668.html

Thanks guys. Another quick question, does the replacement cover come with the mesh part that goes over the speaker? Or would I have to take that out from my old cover and stick it on the new one?

Contact Motorola and use the online chat function. I had the same problem and they had one shipped and to my home in 3 days. No charge.
Worthy of a Thanks? Lol.

DUDE. Yes. Thank you. I shall do that right now. I didn't even think to do that.

The Motorola solution is by far cheaper. But just to let you know the CNN.cn. website one is basically a factory part. Even has the stickers on it. I got it and the housing for $22 FROM THERE

Anyone know where I can buy replacement parts for the Atrix 4G?
I was able to pick up an Atrix 4G with a cracked screen (LCD is fine) for $315 on ebay.

Haha that site requires him to buy a minimum of 3. At least we know he will have spares.
Nice, I think I'm going to hold out a week or two to see what happens but if not ill jump on it. If anyone else is looking for one of these let me know and I can order it and I would be down to split them up at cost and ship em if you paypal me. I'm paypal verified and have a 100+ ebay rep
wait, r u on at&t? if u r, why buy a used/damaged atrix for $315, which is 115 bucks more than a brand new one on contract? n on top of that, u still have to buy the replacement screen? just doesn't make sense right?

he might of already used his upgrade from at&t or not an at&t customer. 315+60 is a steal for an atrix. you can sell these easily for 500-600. not everyone can get at&t contract price...

I actually used my upgrade to get an Atrix. hadn't upgraded in years because I had a rogers HTC Dream and then I bought the Nexus One straight up. I used to run a little iphone repair business and figure I'll have no problem fixing the Atrix. This is just to make a quick $150-$200
Interested in split-order of Atrix replacement screens
I shattered my screen yesterday. So far local stores have been no help.
I am going to one last store today to see if they can get me a deal on a replacement phone -or at least repairs- . If that doesn't work out, I'll be interested in going in 1/3 on a replacement screen order.

Booooo! I, a poor student, now living abroad and with no contract options, almost bought that same ebay phone and was even talking to the seller when it disappeared. Back when globalparts sold the screen for $50 (but still, minimum order of 3.) But, iFixIt makes it look easy and you should have no trouble finding people to split the screens with (if I lived in the US still, this'd be my strategy.)

Just because its gorilla glass doesnt make it indestructable - you can still scratch and scuff the screen...
You can order the glass on Ebay now. I would get the digitizer also because sometimes its glued in the glass. And dosent come off easily. Would rather just tear it apart once....

when they took apart the atrix they found that the screen was completely separate.
I've ordered replacement parts from www.ccn.cn before and while they aren't always OEM parts, they fit and work regardless. They don't have much of anything for the MB860 at this time though, other than the back cover.
I bought one from ebay a few weeks back but have been busy and then realized i didn't have a torx t5. Ordered a small screwdriver kit for $4 with free prime shipping on amazon.
Just did the replacement. I used adhesive pieces cut from ones for iPhones to seal it on. The teardown was a little bit more difficult than I expected. It will be much easier the 2nd time around but the ifixit really doesn't give any of the details. I noticed I left a small smudge behind the glass/digitizer so I may take it apart to wipe it. If I do I will make a teardown video. The biggest issue was that all of the ribbons are held down pretty firmly by strong adhesives. I was very impressed by the strength of the bezel. Everything worked fine first time I put it back together. I used to fix iPhone screens pretty regularly, I've probably done around 40+ of them, so that experience may have helped.

Ruggedized battery cover

Ok so I was asked to update this post. Some of the information found throughout the thread is below:
The battery cover can be found at: cnn.cn
(thank you NoNameAtAll from this post)
The cnn.cn part is just the case, no retail packaging (ie. no media dock adapter.)
jjwatmyself in post says that you remove the insert in the car dock and it will fit the atrix with the battery cover.
digital.aaron in post has some pictures with the cover on the phone.
jjwatmyself has some pictures here.
digital.aaron says in this post: it's very different from Otterbox's rubber. It hasn't picked up any fuzz from my pocket, and I've got on fleece sweatpants. Used to be a nightmare for my 'Box'd iPhone.
Some problems people were are having, the sides are flimsy (you get used to this) and the different colors seem to have different textures.
=============OLD POST===========================
I bought the atrix from AT&T and I ordered a ruggedized battery cover from some website for $30 w/ shipping. My question is as I have neither yet, does anyone have the cover and is it good? Does it feel like it will protect the phone a bit and help hold the phone in the hand?

Well, if no one else has tried I already ordered it so when I get both phone and cover in I will update this thread. It might be a while as I am stationed in Japan so my mom will be sending me the phone Tuesday or Wednesday and it may take a week or two to get here.
oh by the way I ordered mine from After market Cellular. Anyone have any dealings with them, are they honest?
This is the specific one I bought:

I've been looking at one of these batter covers but several sites that I have checked show an estimated ship date or out of stock. Have you received a shipping confirmation for the battery cover yet?
These are rubberized battery covers and thus replace the stock plastic cover. They are from Motorola and are rumored to be out about April 15th. This is why several places show "out of stock", because they aren't out yet.
I have not recieved a shipping confermation, but the store was not showing them as out of stock r estimated shipping date. Now that a320ca said they are nto supposed to be out until the 15th I am worried that the store is a sham because it never told me that.
FYI, I just called them and they said they are out of stock of the Blue one. She asked if I wanted her to check stock on the Green one but I already knew what the answer would be. Store doesn't appear to be a sham but then again, you might want to look into your order if are expecting it sooner than later.
I hope there will be pictures of the cover when people get them. I an intensely eyeballing the green one.
I've also ordered one, from 123cellsupply.com.
I don't have a shipping confirmation yet, either. I've put in several emails to find out the status, but no response yet.
Does the ruggedized battery cover wrap around the front at all, to provide a small protective lip around the screen?
Has anyone actually seen one of these in person?

Yes it wraps around the entire phone
They do look nice.... but to be honest, if it's actually silicon.... i dunno if i'd want it. That's basically my issue with the Otterbox cases. That outside cover attracts dust from alternate dimensions of your pocket. I can't imagine what the rugged battery cover might look like if it's the same material.
i want!! thats simply awesome. i wish amazon had green dangit

[Q] Worst Build Quality of a Phone

I've owned my Galaxy SIII for almost three months now and it probably has the most defects out of any phone I've ever owned. The hardware buttons are loose, the back cover doesn't stay down on all the corners, and the back cover came with hairline cracks already on it. However, the final thing that really made me consider getting a replacement is the fact that the back cover doesn't even hold the battery in all the time. When I set my phone down on a hard surface without being extra gentle, the phone turns off. I temporarily solved this by putting a folded up piece of paper under the battery cover to keep the battery in better, but I don't think this should be necessary for a $200 flagship phone. I'm already over the 30 day return period, but would these reasons qualify for me getting a replacement phone under warranty?
I have 0 defects. My phone costed 549
Anyways call sammy and send it in for warranty
Yea I'd get a new one I paid $649 for mine and its perfect no problems at all!

Sorry for being blatantly sarcastic but loose buttons, cover not seating properly, battery falling out, and cracks? Obviously it was damaged. Before you got it. Pretty sure I'd return a TV with a cracked screen right away before stating it was the worst build quality of any TV ever due to dead pixels and screen flickers and the picture going wonky. I mean, come on man lol. Those defects absolutely would have qualified.. had you reported it right away.

I agree with the group consensus; is there any reason you're reluctant to bring it back? Do you feel guilty about dropping it or something? If not you should be on your way to the store and hope the phone gods have mercy on you since the 30 day return period is over.

Since you're pass the warranty buy a new back cover or a case like an Otter commuter, it will keep the battery and button in place...btw still dont get why you didn't exchange it if it came with a cracked back. Lets see pictures of all these defects!
Wow, I did a COMPETE work over on my phone when I was getting it, checked EVERYTHING, the sales rep was getting a little agitated, but I ask her, if she were spending $500+ on a phone wouldn't you check everything? She shut her pie hole quick, and had her get another one once. Oh well.
Unlike some of you, I actually have enough hand-eye coordination skills to keep my phone in my hand. Cases are bulky and for the clumsy. I am still under the one year warranty and the hairline cracks are only visible from one specific angle. They're really not bad defects, but they just add up and get annoying. I'm only asking if this is worth getting my phone replaced because I don't want to restore to stock for no reason.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
....... again..... if it had these defects.... and they've "added up" to become annoying.... why exactly did you decide to wait 3 months to try to do anything about it?
And if you think that cases are "bulky and for the clumsy"... then the only cases you must see anywhere are OtterBox Defenders and such. Did you ever hear of TPU? next to no bulk added to the phone (about as thick as a DVD... roughly), and gives the phone a bit nicer feel in the hand. Plus makes it a LOT less slippery than with no case at all. I've never dropped a phone either, but i'm not the type that's willing to risk the off chance that something DOES happen that a little bit nicer grip could have prevented.
The only "issue" (if you can even call it that) that i have with my phone that you are also experiencing is the loose volume/power button... which i'm pretty sure EVERYONE is experiencing. They aren't screwed into the phone in any way. They are slotted in, as they are for just about every phone. Yes, they're slightly loose, but it's not like they're ever going to just up and fall out of the phone.
At this point i'm tempted to ask if the hairline cracks you speak of are actual cracks or if you're just seeing the brushed finish of the back of the phone (assuming you have the Pebble Blue)
Still... why did you wait 3 months? Especially with the battery issue and such. I can toss my phone onto my bed, cover or no cover, and it doesn't shut off cause the battery popped out of place.
I've worked in the wireless industry for over 10 years I've yet to see anyone keep a phone out of the box with parts literally falling off and out of the phone. Hell I've never seen that at all for that matter. I can guarantee you've dropped that phone and I doubt that stuff happened out of the box. You may be in the on year warranty but if it has that sort of physical damage good luck getting it replaced.

[Q] Impossibly thin back cover!!

Just bought my Note 2. The battery came half full so it's charging right now.
The first thing I noticed was the impossibly thin back cover and wondered how many people have managed to break theirs...
It'd be fine if it were made of carbon fiber, but plastic this thin will eventually break, no matter how malleable it is. For crying out loud, I've seen sheets of paper that are thicker than this!
How many of you have broken it already?
It's not going to break under normal use. If you take it off and bend it 90 degrees maybe, but it's not just going to spontaneously shatter on you.
Most people use a case so it wont break from dropping.
Ive never felt like it was going to break when removing or replacing it either.
As long as your not trying to break it, it wont break from normal use.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
The thinner it is the less chance it will break, crack or split.under normal use. I have had mine for just over 3 months and have removed it maybe 10 times. It still loks like new. You should be more worrried about the front anyway. A new case cost buttons in comparrison with the screen or digitizer.
People said the same thing about the galaxy s 2 back cover when that came out. Check out this video of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu5qy6gffbs&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Well buy a replacement, they're cheap.
Every 2-3 days I replace my battery with a charged one and I have done this with my note N7000 as well as my current N7100. This had led me to zero issues, not even a piece of the battery casing on either phone have broke off. These were designed very well where they will hold up to more than your everyday usage.

Just a quick heads up for battery cover buyers:
The item listing doesn't say whether this cover contains the NFC antenna like the Samsung covers do. I know some of the aftermarket covers don't have it. Anyone wanting to retain NFC functionality should be sure and check this before ordering an aftermarket Note 2 battery cover.

As it's a metal back cover I don't think the NFC will work.
Someone posted in the accessories section saying they had bought a metal back cover with NFC, however upon testing it the NFC didn't actually work.
For someone like me in the UK though that's hardly an issue, NFC isn't widely used here, the only use we have for it now is if we want to use NFC tags, and that's about it.
FWIW, I have an Epic 4G that uses the same thin plastic back. I've had that phone for 2 years and there are no cracks, damage to the phone or anything. Actually looks pretty darn new, save for where some of the clearcoat is coming off around the speakerhole. Of all the things to be concerned about on this phone, the back is the least of my worries.

Lifeproof fre cases

Just broke my first s3 and bought a new one, this time I said no more otterbox and went with lifeproof.
Damn fine cases, quality, built in screen protector and best part. There waterproof! Buttons are easy to press, not like otter box basically crush the phone trying to press the power button lol
I got mine on amazon.ca for 39.99 free shipping. And I signed up for a amazon credit card and saved another $20.
Cases are good quality compared to my old otter box. Otter box rubber is falling apart, like breaking down. I contacted otterbox customer service. My warranty was up in one week from when I contacted them. I sent emails properly to them submitting the defects, they asked for more of the same pictures..... Basically wasting time. Then at the end of the week guess what. They told me I'm no longer under the 1 year warranty. No u wasted a week trying to make me waste time. Lol
Well let me tell otter box this.... U won't see a red nickel from me ever again.
In short lifeproof is a better case and company then otter box. I've already been in the water with the case 2 times. No leaks phone is fine.

With a shot. If anything you could sell the case or use it as a backup since you have a Lifeproof. I moved to Lifeproof from Otterbox and have never looked back.
How does LifeProof compare to CruzerLite? I was thinking about getting a CruzerLite case for my AT&T Galaxy S3.
Moved to S3 Accessories forum.
I used to work at a store that sold these when they first came out. I tested them out a few times and found them difficult to pry apart and get on/off the phone. They looked very well-constructed and effective, but can anyone vouch for their ease of use in relation to applying to phone and taking it back off? Have they changed it up at all as far as anyone can attest?

you get raised buttons that allow you to use all the iPhone controls, while a sealable door and plug cover the Lightning port and headphone jack along the bottom edge. The headphone jack is fairly narrow, but LifeProof includes an adapter that extends the jack beyond the case. Rounding out the package is a microfiber cloth and a replacement headphone jack plug.

From a legal standpoint, the date of complaint stands. Don't let them give you the run around bro. Unfortunately this should have been taken care of immediately. If they give you a hard time and do not want to cooperate, you can still open a case through the Better Business Bureau and let them handle your complaint. Hopefully you have some emails with the date you 1st contacted them. If not, it'll be your word against theirs.
Best of luck to you.
Personally, I've had two OtterBox Defender cases. One I ended up giving away in my section and the other has never been used. As for the built-in screen protector, I popped it out a few days after I started using the case and applied one from Tech Armor. Great screen protectors by the way! I ended up getting a ZeroLemon 7000mAh battery and bought their ZeroLemon Rugged Case. It's not waterproof but it is one heck of a case. I know for a fact it has saved my phone on two occasions. It can be used with stock batteries too. Not bad for $19.99. It also comes with a 180 day warranty just like their batteries.
