What does this change do?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17337557&postcount=563
I installed it yesterday, but could not login nor create a blur account. This will solve the problem? Just change it and save? Do i have to reboot?
Thanks a lot! If i can't login in the motoblur, i think i gonna try CM7 RC1.5. Stock rom with no Blur functions have nothing to offer to me.
Update:
Changed, rebooted and still the same issue. Blur ask me to try again latter...
I'm using ms2ginger 1.0, installed yesterday night. The host entry in build.prop let's me login, I can access Twitter/Facebook in universal Messages app and set social status. I can't browse updates from friends etc though. Is this related?
[edit]
Social Networking retrieved some updates from Facebook then stopped, weird.

Ms2ginger is rom based on leaked china Milestone 2 rom build (4.5.3 - 63)
This tip is rom Based on Leaked ginger 4.5.1-134 (MB526)
sorry, i don`t speak English well
Ok, it seems to be problem with ms2ginger. I'm using 4.5.1.-134 now and your changes didn't work. I copied same entries from ms2ginger build.prop and it works now. Had to create new account though.
thx, will try it out, some guys in germany reported, that they got blur-message on mb525 flashed to 526 that their blur-account will be deactivated because of using unofficial rom
Update: with said build.prop, Facebook works and Twitter doesn't (Twitter account error, sometimes it doesn't throw errors but doesn't update anyway). Didn't test other social networks.
editing build.props
I'm trying to patch up my build.props and have got as far as connecting to my phone via adb. However I keep getting permission denied. I seem unable to 'su' to change the permissions on the file or remount.
Is there a simple guide to editing this file? I've tried searching the forums, but nothing jumps out at me.
Thanks
Terminal Emulator
I managed to figure it out by using Terminal Emulator available for free from the market place.
1. Edited the file on my pc and then copied it onto the sdcard on the phone.
2. Used terminal emulator to remount the file system as writeable and backed up / copied over the build.prop.
Afterwards I remounted as readonly and rebooted, managed to get a motoblur account and facebook appears to be syncing.

If I make the changes in build.prop for these values, I'll be able to create a new motoBLUR account, and all the data sync would work again? I lost my motoBLUR account after receiving a system notice that I was using an unreleased ROM.

With the above build.prop my Facebook contacts sync doesn't work. Posts sync seems to be working though.
Hey Guys!
Using 2.3.4-134, I edited my buildprop file as mentioned above and everything was working fine until my Motoblur news widget stopped syncing 4 days ago... My guess is that Motorola found out that I was using a non-official rom, even with an edited buildprop...
Now there is an official rom (not leaked) for the Defy+, would it be possible to use its official buildprop data to make sure that Motoblur will work?
Thanks for your assistance!

Any help on the matter would appreciated on this. I've searched through the forums for answers, but most are older responses to the problems I'm having and I don't want to follow them in case I cause more of a problem.
I Just installed Android on my TyTN II, and the WiFi, Camera and USB Sync do not work.
1 - When I try to enable Wifi it just goes "unable to start Wi-Fi
2 - When I try to run the Camera Application that came with install I downloaded I get error "The applicationCamera (Process com.android.camera) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
3 - When I try to connect my phone to my PC (Windows 7) it connects fine and I get a notification for USB Debugging and USB connected. When I click on USB Connected it asks me to mount the SD card, but all it does is unmounts it. Then for Android to see it again I'm force to reboot, as I can't mount it again through settings.
I've installed:
Kernel - kaisimg-panel2-240x320-2.6.32-tilt-froyo-09-09-10_21.nbh
OS - Myn's Warm Donut RLS5 (for Kaiser only).zip (which includes all updates)
Radio - 1.70.19.09
HardSPL - 3.56
Now this is my first install of Android on my TyTN II, and the process all went smoothly, except for these problems I have when running Android.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I tried reinstalling everything two times, and I also tried removing the battery, draining the device and putting it back and powering on. However I'm still having the same problems. Also I'm continuing to read through the forums for an answer. I figured I'd post this anyways as there is more of a chance someone will be able to point me in the right direction before I find the answer
Thanks

OK first you are using Kernel 2.6.32, so you need the wifi modules (wlan.ko - wifi driver) compiled for this kernel. Myns Warm Donut does include drivers for 2.6.25.
here you can find a update that you can install to get wifi working. (its for froyo but should also work with donut)

You are using a froyo kernel on a donut system. For a working camera you need to edit this kernel with nbh editor or with hexeditor:
set the value hw3d.version=1 to hw3d.version=0

at the moment there is no way to sync your phone via USB you need a googlemail account
Btw why you want to use donut. Froyo and Eclair are also stable, fast and have some useful functions.
First thank you for the quick reply

OK with these two points in mind. Would it be better/more stable for me to just use a kernel designed for the Donut system instead of editing the NBH and install drivers?
So you know I used the Kernel that I installed because in the How-To it said you take the latest Kernel. In future how can I know which kernel is for the correct release?

I used Myn's Donut release because again in the How-To it said WiFi, BT, Camera etc are working in it. But then of course I goofed and installed the wrong kernel
With your help here I have a better understanding of it all now and will try what you said, and also experiment with other Kernel's and releases to find what I like best.
FatMutha
Lol, beat me to it .
Since it was noted that I was using a Froyo Kernel on Donut system... from the list of kernel's that can be downloaded here on DZo's Site All recent kernel's in the last month or so are Froyo. Where can I find a recent Kernel for Myn's Donut release?
Also as noted I don't want to sync via USB, I just want to be able to access the SD via USB.
And last is there a place where I can find all builds, Eclair, Donut, Myn's.Froyo etc? or will I need to dig through the foums as the How-To only lists Incubus and Myn.
Also I went to edit my NBH file ( I use Windows NBH Editor) for the camera to change hw3d.version=1 to hw3d.version=0, but I don;t see that option anywhere. Am I using an outdate NBH editor?

in fact there the actual kernels are for froyo. But by editing the kernel with hexeditor or nbh editor you can also use them with donut. The value 'hw3d.version' indicates if it is used for eclair/froyo (1) or donut (0). If you use a hexeditor for the manipulation you have to look for this value. If you are using loserskaters nbh-editor you can directly change to eclair, froyo or donut.

One last question I have that maybe you can answer. I had all my contacts in WinMo..I used pimbackup to back them up regularly, now before I moved to Android I saw that there doesn;t seem to be pimbackup for Android. I searched google for ways to migrate contacts from winmo to android and I found Sprite Migrate. I was able to backup everything fine, however right now I'm having problems restoring the application keeps crashing on me.
Do you know of any program that will all for easy migration of contacts from winmo to android. I'll move back to winmo on a temp basis if needed to get my contacts in android.

If you have stored your contacts in Outlook so the easiest way is to export them in a CSV-File. Then you open the googlemail web-interface from your windows machine. On the left side is a button named contacts. It contains a submenu to import Contacts from CSV-File.
After you have imported them to your google account, you can sync them to your phone.
If you want to get your contacts to Outlook you can also export them from google in a CSV-File

Problem is I don't have Outlook. I have the windows live mail that comes wtih live essentials, but windows mobile center in windows 7 doesn't sync contacts to that. It can only sync to Outlook. Which is why I found the the program sprite migrate.
Prior to me switching to Android I was never able to sync my contacts to my computer, which is why I used pimbackup. Whenever I changed Winmo ROM's i used pimbackup to restore my contacts to my phone.
I'm also wondering if enabling the start recovery in the boot menu might be causing this. Is there a way to disable this once its been added? I tried going back to boot menu and running the option again to disable it, but it just started the process again.
Also I just tested Bluetooth for the first time driving home.. it works in the sense it finds and pairs with my device (in this case my GPS in the car), however my voice according to the other end sounds like a muffled robot.
Also I noticed when I checking info about the version of Android I installed and it says firmware version 1.6.
Now I see through various forum posts that there is android 2.1 working on Kaiser... Am I running a later version because of the Kernel or does it have to do with myn's build I downloaded?
When I followed the How-To on installing android I followed the links provided for kernel and android builds and downloaded those I thought were latest versions.
I'm reading through the forums on seeing different release's of andoird, but how do I know which is the latest build/firmware?

Yes thats correct! YOU are using a donut build (Android 1.6) the newer builds are eclair (Android 2.1) und froyo (Android 2.2). All have nearly the same functions. For a long time donut (imho especialy myns) was the most stable release. But actualy the new froyo (2.2) releases are well optimized for our devices and are fast and stable.

Are you sure you didn't select the wrong option in the boot menu?
When installing the WiFi update you need to select Install Update, then fix permissions. If your phone got wiped chances are you selected Install System.
When I ran the update it fixed my WiFi issues right aways. Also today I installed Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo 2.2 [Deodexed] [RLS15] [9/3/10] and everything worked right from the get go.
The only problem I'm still having is with sprite migrate it can't seem to open the backup of my contacts I made from WinMo.
Right now I'm going revert back to WinMo do a backup again with sprite but also backup contacts to text with PimBackup import to google then sunc with Android as a precaution. Sprite Backup is supposed to make migrating from WinMo to Andoird easy, I read where people have used it without problems but for me its not working, which leads me to believe I probably had a corrupted backup.

No I'm sure I chose Update.. After it "updated" it would wipe the phone everytime I turned it off..
I finally just started over since it already ****ed my data anyway.
Working fine now.
You are using a froyo kernel on a donut system. For a working camera you need to edit this kernel with nbh editor or with hexeditor:
set the value hw3d.version=1 to hw3d.version=0
I'm running a Eclair kernel on a EClair system with the same error, any idea what can be done to fix it?
hw3d.version=1
I'm running this using HaRET. PolyMod 2.1D is the version of Android I'm running off. (Camera works fine if I install kernel and system to NAND directly)
is it possible to install the apk mail of samsung tab the Archos 10.1 or 7.0

As per the "other forums", it isnt possible since it directly replaces the existing mail, hence needing a perm root.
This would be sweet.

too bad :-(
Surely someone could recompile the app with a different name exactly as they did with the recent gingerbread apk which can be installed without root.
Any takers?!
with the root perhaps ?
I tried replacing my email.apk with the samsung one(i have rooted sde), and all it does is force close as soon as I try to launch it. Must need some samsung libraries or something.
That is too bad.
I feel that the onlyu missing good app on the A101 is in fact the email client.
I would love o use the tablet for work, but the stock email client is very bad, and all the others i have tried are also very bad for a daily use. The app that best fits in the Touchdown email client, but it is so badly designed.
I would love to have one email client with full features of exchange, that would feel as clean as the samsung email client or even the iPad email client.
If someone finds one like this, please let me know ...
Have managed to get this working on my Archos 101IT, running sauron's Urukdroid 4.1 root. I followed the instructions given by LOstSOul over at the ArchosFans forum:
If you want to give it a try you must move the existing /system/app/Email.apk to /system/app.old (or delete it)
Then download this zip file:
http://downloads.streakdroid.com/djsteve/tabmail.zip
Note: I did not build this at all and take no credit for building it. I found this package here:
http://android.modaco.com/content/dell- ... nt-beta-2/
you must extract the zip file on your PC and then copy the 3 files in the extracted system\app directory into your \system\app directory on your archos vi ADB with Root or get it on the SD card and then move it using a terminal program. Once you have the three files in the /system/app directory just reboot and you will have the new email client.
It will use any existing email accounts that you have from the old email app but they may have some strange issues. If you notice anything weird remove the account and re-add it.

Didn't see this posted here on XDA yet, so apologies if it has been already.
As stated above, these instructions originated elsewhere, and I am in no way taking any credit for this.
However, as you can see from the screenshot attached, doesn't quite work as well on the 101 - app was coded for 7" screen after all!
Another good reason to root the device... gonna spend this weekend on this. Thks for the news

Hi,
I am running Virtuous Sense 2.0.0, but since installing that MOD, I can't find the HtcFacebook App any more in my system.
Somehow HTC Facebook it must be still in the system, because the APK is in the system/app folder and I can add an account for HTC Facebook in the settings/accounts section. And that account then also syncs my Facebook-Contacts into the Contacts/People App.
But I can't find the Icon anywhere and I can't use/start the application, nor re-install it by any means.
To make things even weirder, the downloads app just told me, that it downloaded an update of 410kb dated 22.07.11
When I try to install that, it says, that this is a System Application, and when I confirm it lists the permission requests and when I hit "install" the progress bar comes up for a second followed by "application not installed".
When I try to do it manually, it fails too:
I opened the Terminal, typed in su to get root permissions. I went to /system/app and tried to install the HtcFacebook.apk from there typing
pm install -r HtcFacebook.apk
It fails with:
Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]
when I go to /sdcard/downloads and try the same with the downloaded HtcFacebook.apk I get the same Error-Message.
I also tried ASTRO and FileExplorer in both directories with the same result.
Also using ADB commands failed.
Googling the error messages didn't get me any further than what I mentioned above. Now I am quite helpless...
Any help appreciated.

Nobody? Everybody who is running Virtuous Sense 2.0.0 is having no problems with the HtcFacebook App?
HTCFacebook is just the integrated facebook thing. If you want the facebook app back, you'll have to go to the market and find Facebook.
Here is a link to the market page, which you can install it from
-Nipqer
I know there is another Facebook App in the market available. But it does not have the same features as the HTC version. Before I installed Virtuous Sense 2.0.0 my original Stock ROM had an HTC Facebook App and after I downloaded and installed the regular Facebook App I had TWO Facebook Apps available.
Now, after flashing the Virtuous Sense ROM, I am stuck with only the one from the Market. But for several reasons, I want to have the HTC variant back. And there must be a way, since even the Downloads-App is telling me, that an update for it is available:
-------------------------
HtcFacebook.apk
synergy-base.googlecode.com
Ready 410 KB 22.07.11
-------------------------
Unfortunately trying to install the update just produces an error.
Am I really the only one missing the HTC Facebook App and the respective Icon to access it?
Tronar
Instead of installing it do this
cd to where ever your adb is located (mine is c:/androidsdk/platform-tools)
place the HTCfacebook.apk you want in that folder and type this:
Code:
adb remount
adb push HTCfacebook.apk /system/app/
adb reboot
Should replace the current HTCfacebook.apk and you will possible get your facebook app back.

Thank you for the tip. I tried that. I copied the new HtcFacebook.apk from the /sdcard/downloads/ location to /system/app/ using Root-Explorer
I also set the correct rights (rw-r--r-- like all the other .apk-Files in the same folder) and the correct ownership (root and root)
Then I rebooted, but nothing changed.
My feeling is, that I need to Install the .apk-File, not just drop it someplace.

As mentioned in my first post, I tried all kinds of ADB commands.
Code:
adb install HtcFacebook.apk
was one of them. All install attemps fail with the error message mentioned above.
I tried it again right now, here is the result:
Code:
adb install HtcFacebook.apk
1299 KB/s (499112 bytes in 0.375s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/HtcFacebook.apk
Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]
My guess is, that somehow the certificate system is a little buggy with Virtuous Sense 2.0.0. Maybe the signing of the packages is therefore not recognized.
I get the same Error Message when trying to re-install the HtcFacebook.apk that was already in /system/app. I mean that package should be signed correctly, since it came with the ROM, shouldn't it?

According to HTC:
What’s the difference between Facebook app and Facebook for HTC Sense?
Facebook for HTC Sense is not a standalone app. It is integrated in People, Friend Stream, Gallery, and Calendar to give you up-to-date information about your Facebook contacts (their status updates, shared links, and photos) in these apps.
The Facebook app is a standalone app. Use this app to do most of the things that you would do when you’re using your computer’s web browser to access your Facebook account, such as adding a friend and sending Facebook messages.
The two do not share the same login credentials. Signing in to Facebook for HTC Sense does not sign you in to the Facebook app and vice versa. If you want to use the same Facebook account for both, you’ll have to sign in to both using the same login credentials.
Note: If you have more than one Facebook account, you may sign in to the Facebook app using your second account, since the Facebook app does not share the same login credentials as Facebook for HTC Sense.

I hope that clears everything up for you. I used to think they were two different applications that did the same thing, but they are actually two separate things. The HTC part only integrates Facebook into the rest of the phone environment.
Wow, that is weird. Thanx for digging up that information. It must be new, because I swear with the old Stock ROM I had TWO Facebook-Applications on my HTC Desire Z. Maybe they changed it for the Gingerbread 2.3 Upgrade?
I noticed one effect after copying the new HtcFacebook.apk into the /system/app folder: I had lost all my Facebook-Contacts in the Contacts app and had to re-add the Htc Facebook Account and refill the Login & Password Fields in Settings->Accounts & Synchronization to bring them back.
Nonetheless, all of this does not explain, why the automatic Update of the HtcFacebook.apk from the Downloads-app just fails to install. Is this a bug in the Downloads-App, because System-Apps are never supposed to be installed automatically? Or does this just apply for the HtcFacebook.apk? I can't test it out with other apps, because the HtcFacebook.apk is the only one, that every appeared in the Downloads-App so far.
Same problem with Facebook fro HTC Sense
I am experiencing the same problem after installing a new ROM to my HTC Desire.
This ROM works well and brings Android 2.3.3 and HTC Sense 2.1 yet I cannot find neither the "Facebook" app nor the "Facebook for HTC Sense" widget.
Each time I download the Facebook app from the market and launch it I get an error message telling me that "processocom.facebook.katana" got interrupted and when I try to launch the "HtcFacebook.apk" I get the message "Application not installed".
I cannot sort it out...
To install the HTC Facebook could you not just flash the rom over the top again?

What did you do when you flashed onto this new ROM? Which ROM is it, and have you used it previously? Did you flash a ROM cleaner of some sort?
I installed this ROM: AceSMod007 taken from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113070
It is the first time I use this one (previously I tried MIUI, LeeDroid, InsertCoin)
I followed all instructions... I mean I wiped data, cache etc etc. then I installed the ROM and performed a Titanium Backup restore.
Yet when I was checking out the Facebook application I noticed those problems that I highlighted and I started looking for a possible cause and solution to that.

When you did the Titanium restore, did you restore system apps or system data?
I restored both them.
Now I tried delating the account under Settings->Account Sync and installing and de-installing the App from the market.
Then I recreated the account into Settings and the synchronization seems to work.
On FriendStream widget now I see FB updates too.
I tried to put on the FB widget (the Facebook for HTC Sense interface seems to be missing yet).
This looks like being hung on "Updating states..." although it takes me to the app when I click on it.
have you tried extracting the .apk file from the rom itself and installing?
if the rom is a zip file (it most probably is), the apks are usually found in one of the folders (maybe /data). extract the zip and look for the directory where all the apks are stored, and perhaps you can re-install just the programs you want.
hope this works.
I previously tried installing HtcFacebook.apk but as a result I got a message "Application not installed"
Now the standard Android FB widget seems to work too...
No traces of Facebook for HTC Sense though
Weird...

How do you launch the HtcFacebook.apk? Do you still have an icon for it? Because I don't!
And as dkmurphys found out, according to HTC, they seem to have intentionally given up their HtcFacebook App with the latest Stock-ROM update to Gingerbread 2.3.3
So HtcFacebook.apk is only still showing in the list of Apks to provide the background services for the HTC Widgets, like the FriendStream Widget for example.

Hi all, I use RCMixS v2.0 and I really love this rom.
For now I have only a problem: the e-mail application doesn't display html emails corretly... it shows only the text.
I have looked also into the settings but there is no voice about that.
Can anyone give me a modified version of that Sense apk in order to see correctly html emails? (always if there is one apk that does that, obviously)
Thank you in advance,
Sbarabau
p.s: please don't tell me to change rom, because the RCMixS is perfect for me.
EDIT: i forgot: my email account is an hotmail synchronized through exchange activesync
No one can help me?
Other client
Why don't you use another email client? Have you tried to increase the mail size limit?

Thank you for your reply!
I dont' want to change email client because I fell good with the Sense interface.
I've already tried to increase the email's size limit, but no change... The option for select the HTML format is grey and unclickable.
I've also tried with this guide ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342174 ), but when I turn back the value to 2.5, it all return as it was initially...
P.s: sorry for my bad english

Now I'm using a CM7 ROM so have no chance to try it but here is what I found:
- Make sure you have not selected "download text" only under the sync settings.
- Select HTML format on your email server. I think hotmail have this kind of setting.
Somewhere I read you have to select an individual account for setting HTML format.

Same problem here ! Any help ?
I found the solution to this probleme !!!
You need Root and Root Explorer
I downloaded the mail.apk from one ROM (my memory is bad i don't remember) and I copied that mail.apk in \system\app and tried to install it from there. It started the installation but aborted cause I suppose the mail app is in use.
The trick is that after that aborted installation, the option to select Html or Text is now available and I could change it to Html...
Now everything is ok.
Is that the HTC Sense Mail.apk?
And the older Mail.apk? Have you replaced it in /system/app?
First, the mail.apk is not related to Sense but to the Android version, mine is 2.3.4
And Second, I replaced that one in \system\app
I tried to install it from there but it didn't work. In fact, it enabled the option HTML/TEXT !!!
I have RCMixS with Android 2.3.3
Anyway, that's a system apk, so you have to put into the system/app folder using adb
Third: if you replace the older Mail.apk in system/app, the older e-mail application obviously disappears.
P.S: with your method I lose my email app and the new one doesn't install. With adb, the app goes in crash when I open it.
I'm sorry to hear that you lost your older mail.apk.
As stated in my previous reply, You need Root Explorer and when you replace mail.apk, and try to install it from system\app it doesn't install but the option HTML is available right after.
And I told that it's related to 2.3.4 !!! and you have 2.3.3 so I am not sure if it will work with a different version (now i'm a bit sure)...
You should not use adb. And you have to find out a mail.apk from a 2.3.3 version to restore your email application.
Good luck.

I know I would have lost my email application, so I made a backup of the app.
Anyway, your argument does not stand: if I put a new Mail.apk in system/app and I replace the older, I will obviously lose my older email app!
P.S.: it isn't related to 2.3.4. What Sense version do you have?
P.S.2: for system apps you have to use adb. If you don't use it, the app will never install...
The solution for me is that I replaced mine by another mail.apk from another rom (without adb) and the html option was back and fixed.
I don't have time to polemicate about it.

I asked you: What Sense version do you have?
Hello,
I just upgraded from Android Revolution 3.6.8 to 3.6.13 without wiping my stuff.
The problem of HTML mails from ActiveSync with my hotmail went back to TXT and the option is grayed.
So, I just copied the mail.apk (attached to my previous post) to system\app with ES explorer on phone (overwriting the one existing there) and tried to install the apk from system\app and yes it doesn't complete the installation but the icon disappeared from menu and main screen. So, I rebooted my phone. After that my email icon came back and when I go to option, I can now select HTML or TEXT.
My Sense is 3.0, Android 2.3.4 and Android Revolution 3.6.13 with 1.72Ghz CPU.
My method is working and I confirm I did it twice !

Sense 3.0 is different than Sense 2.1. For this reason the apk email didn't worked for me. It would be perfect to find a ported version for Sense 2.1 of that apk

I was trying to achieve the same for my tablet and I've found a solution. I've posted an article on my fresh new blog
camolin3.tumblr.com/post/91306835140/make-whatsapp-to-run-in-a-second-user-of-an-android
Basically you have to grant read, write and exec permission to all the users of the /data/data/com.whatsapp directory.
I hope it helps you.

atomico001, have you tried towelroot? It is very easy to use: download an app, press a button, and after a restart you got rooted.
That's the way I rooted my nexus, and since we have the same tablet I guess it should work for you as well.

No wipe required. My Nexus 7 2013 has android 4.4.4. Try it (under your own risk).
Any update on this issue? I am trying to install it on a Second account, which is not the owner and it just crashes after verifying the code.
It works!

Thank you camolin! This fixed it for me! Note that the permission change needs to be recursive (for all subfolders as well)

Here's an update - seems like the location /data/data/com.whatsapp will be shared amongst all users - causing your whatsapp db to corrupt each time you fire up another user's whatsapp. I found a way around this (probably not the cleanest) by keeping the contents of the com.whatsapp folder in a space where android can manage seperate user access (e.g. /sdcard/temp) and inserted a static link to it at the original place where whatsapp expects it. That is:
backup you whatsapp messages in app
exit and uninstall all instances of whatsapp
create a folder /sdcard/temp/com.whatsapp
copy the contents of /data/data/com.whatsapp to /sdcard/temp/com.whatsapp
remove /data/data/com.whatsapp
create a static link at /data/data to /sdcard/temp/com.whatsapp (requires terminal access):
ln -s /sdcard/temp/com.whatsapp /data/data/com.whatsapp
verify linked access to folder /data/data/com.whatsapp from all user accounts
reinstall whatsapp (might need to recover backed up messages)
I am now able to run a seperate whatsapp under each user account without affecting the other (thus far)
Update - this setup does not survive a restart (which then requires unlinking and reinstalling whatsapp)
Any update on this? Ive done the above. When i go to the second user, and use a file explorer to view the contents of /data/com.whatsapp .... It is the same data as the first user? I was hoping that changing to to the second user would leave this empty? Ie. It seems that the sdcard on the second user doesnt get used at all. Any ideas? (in Not using a nexus)
