Will a network unlock ever be released? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the inc s and absolutely love it, but would love to join you guys at the inc 2 side.
Is there ever going to be a unlock for ATT or tmo or usa carriers like the droid2global? I'm sure I'm not the only one. Inc s costs almost twice the price , same exact hardware, just gsm unlocked for ATT .

This is the Droid Incredible Android Development section.
1) this belongs in the general or q/a section as tis doesn't contribute to development
2) this is the Droid Incredible section the Droid Incredible S is a different phone entirely thus different subheader in XDA.

How is this development? Oh that's right--it isn't. Unless you plan on developing the network unlock, this thread is not suitable for development.

Need some help

My brother in law has let me hold his droid incredible 2 for the past 2 weeks so I could root it and what not. Well he didnt tell me or ask me if it would work but he reported this phone lost or stolen and got a brand new one so he could give me this one. So the esn us bad. I was wondering if there is a way to manually flash this to pageplus? I know it can be done through cricket but there coverage is really spotty in my area. If I was to go with cricket, would there be a way to use a Verizon prl?

whether or not it was of your doing, discussing or advocating in any way fraud is not acceptable
there are guides for flashing to other carriers, but imo its a now stolen device and shouldnt be used for anything
We won't allow any discussion of fraud or ways to circumvent it.

Will that change any of the specs, unlocking it? Since it's not intended for verizon's network

I found this on Google in less than 20 seconds...
Thinking of unlocking a Verizon Wireless LTE phone for use on AT&T's network, or vice versa? Think again. Verizon Wireless confirmed today that its LTE phones will not "be compatible on other LTE networks in the U.S." because "the phones will be on different frequencies," according to Verizon spokeswoman Brenda Raney.

Can you guys get to the Phone Info screen with the radio menu's? I heard they were taking that out of Sense 4.0, but if not this might be worth looking into. Rezound dev's have it working on GSM now with S-Off running MIUI, If this phone has "hidden" CDMA radios we could have a lot of cross platform dev's without them all having the same phones.

It doesn't. Nor does it have LTE. thus phone will never work on Verizon save someone opening it themselves and transplanting some CDMA radios into it using sorcery.

The AT&T model won't work on Verizon either. The Rezound is a world phone that's why it works on GSM.
Nice insult though.

Out of curiousity

And I'm not complaining here, but why aren't there that many kernel options to choose from here? I love testing kernel and comparing battery life and performance. but I don't see any to really choose from
I'm wondering the same thing ? I just came to Sprint from tmobile two months ago where i had the htc sensation which had tons of roms and kernals. When i first came to Sprint i got the evo 4g lte and development is great over there but with the gs3 i think alot of people Sprint customers passed on it waiting for the new iPhone or bought the evo would be my guess. Anyhow i will be heading to tmobile in a few months (i should of never left)and probably get the international gs3.

I got the sensation as well. Great phone when rooted. I sure miss faux and the others. As well as mike and vorbeth.!
the S3 has only been out what, 2 months or so? the Evo has been out longer, and even so, i think S3 out sold the Evo by a huge margin..

Evo was out a month longer, the gs3 out sold the evo because it was on every carrier where as the evo was a Sprint exclusive.

People are working on a few aosp kernels, but a bunch of the TW kernel guys that I know have not upgraded yet, such as Agat63.

HTC Incredible DLX losses out to LG over next Google Flagship Device.

That's right, confirmed yesterday with a release date of November 13th, the Google Nexus 4 will be a 4.75" Quad Core Snapdragon S4 device marketed by LG.
I know I and many in the HTC Community were looking forward to the supposed HTC Branded Google Nexus 5 (ie HTC Incredible DLX).
The LG branded Google Nexus 4 will not feature 4G LTE capabilities and looks like it won't feature 4G at all. It will offer Android 4.2, 2GB RAM, wireless charging and other features. More can be found here

After reading about it and looking at the pics im stumped. Did iPhone let LG put their logo on their phone? I mean come on seriously? Encased in glass? What's next an iPhone/android hybrid that runs windows??

They are not supporting 4G because of the updates and making the firmware for all that Verizon crap and cdma bullsh*t
So they just wanna do it to provide fast updates and easy as its unlocked

Pretty sure the LGNexus 4 also only comes in 8gb and 16 gb models... with no sd card. That right there did kind of turn me off of it. One reason I'm not a big Apple fan...
Here's the Google Play store page for it Nexus 4
I was looking forward to the Nexus 4. I was so sad when I found out there was no 4G and it would not be on Verizon. Haven't had a Nexus device yet. Guess now I'm for HTC DNA or whatever they decide to call it...
The simple fact is is that Verizon does not support timely updates or unlocked devices. Its also common knowledge that LTE is a huge battery hog. My brother has T-Mobile HSPA+ 42 and has no problems streaming Netflix, which is what most people complain about. Besides, LTE is only available in 8 countries worldwide and even in those countries its only available in certain areas.
Can someone please fix the ****ing thread title?
Loses

[Q] SIM unlock on rooted phone

My wife and I are moving to England for a couple years (Air Force), and we would just like to be able to use our Inc 2's over there. Her phone is completely stock, but mine has been rooted and ROM'd. I know Verizon will give the unlock codes for her phone to put a UK SIM car in it, but can I unlock mine? Or does S-Off already sim-unlock the phone? I guess I can try a friend's ATT SIM card in mine to find out. I tried search this morning, but it is unavailable for some reason.
Thank You for all your help!
Yes you still have to unlock. That is unless you unlocked with an XTC clip.
