I've searched the forums and tried a few different guides. I have a cox htc wildfire, with hboot 1.30. I can't find any information for this version. I'm assuming that it means no root for this device? Any help would be appreciated. Rooting my dinc was a breeze, this phone not so much.

Im wishing to root my HTC Desire CDMA but im having quiet the issue. Im running v2.2 and HBOOT 1.06 and s-on using Windows. I've tried using unrEVOked3, z4root, and SuperOneClick, and Universal Androot but I've received absolutely no luck. So my question is, is there anyone out there running the same specs as me and have accomplished my wish?!?!?!

is there anyway of downgrading either v2.2 or Hboot to one that is compatable? Or there is away to turn s-off allowing me to disable NAND? Could you correctly tell me how to remove HTC Sync?
don't think you can downgrade. If it was a GSM phone then there are ways but no idea on CDMA phones. Think you're stuck until HTC unlock the bootloaders (assuming they do)

I have read many posts on Downgrading, Rooting, S-Off, Unlocking, etc...
Before I step into this process, just wanted to ask is there a way to unlock HTC Desire HD, without doing any of those things mentioned above?
I am not interested in doing anything to my phone (even I believe that it will work much better if I flash custom ROM), just would like to be able to use it with different sim cards when I am going abroad.

I want to root my friends Desire Z.
What do I need to know before rooting.
I remember with Desire HD, I had to downgrade in order to root.
Visionary, ENG HBOOT, etc. etc.
Current ROM loaded: 2.42.405.2

As with the DHD you will also need to downgrade the DZ in order to get permanent root.
Warning (Just because I read "visionary"): At least as far as the g2/dz goes, it is advised to avoid it. Since there is a very high risk of bricking your phone.
ok i need a little help im new to HTC coming from samsung i have knowledge of rooting and flashing and such but i seem to be going in circles trying to obtain root. I am currently running 2.2 Froyo, I have read quite a bit on here but not sure of best method to use any input would be appreciated.
I will presume that you own a G2 / Desire Z. Go to my minus.com profile(link is in my signature) and download the pdf corresponding to your phone and the skip the downgrading part of the guide and jump to rooting. Just follow it and you'll be rooted and s-off.

Hello everyone I'am in kinda need of help
You see I tried to simunlock my desire 520 which leads me to various sections and posts in this sub.
Through reading I found out that first I need to S-OFF my phone to be able to do that (and root)
the thing is all what I found on the sub are the following:
1. To S-Off my phone it has to be rooted or
2. To root my phone it has to be S-Offed
which is neither of the two I have and is confusing me on how to get it done.
Also I read somewhere that HTC Desire has HBoot but mine don't have.
On the boot loader (white screen thingy) there's nothing there that states the HBoot version although I found some here which guides me on how to install HBoot but the thing is. It is for Froyo or will make my Android version to Froyo (Im on 5.1 that's why im unsure if it is okay or not).
Well all what I really need is to Sim Unlock my phone if there is other way around or someone could guide me itwould really be a great help! Thanks and more power to you peeps!
