A quick search didn't turn up anything, so here goes..
Is there a way to prevent the phone from waking when you unplug it from charging? I know it will just time out or you can manually shut the screen back off, but I'd like to prevent it from turning the screen on at all on unplug.
Any ideas?
*I just realized this could be posted in the general Android q&a section since it shouldn't be device specific I think. If a mod would like to move it then great
Not exactly sure how its done, but i know that with CM7, it's disabled, so it has to be a feature of specific roms
Doesn't do it on MIUI either, so I think it's a Sense thing. Maybe something to do with the kernel?

ugh I would totally run CM if I could get MMS working on it with Cricket...it's the only thing stopping me.
If only they would transfer the Cricket APN settings built in the CM7 rom for the Huawei Ascend into other devices. It doesn't work properly when I try to manually program them in.

every other time my phone rings I cant answer it. The accept button just wont move?? is it just me or have anyone else had this error I have a dezire z
Do you have set CPU set to 245MHz @ screen off?
no i dont, why?
Well that could be one cause, maybe it's a bad app causing your phone to temporarily freeze? Can you slide it the other way and ignore the call?
Did you try flashing a different kernel?

why do you suggest this? how do you know hes using kernels? im just trying to see what your connection to the solution is -its quite a specific answer to a problem that hasnt really been examined. what rom is he on, etc before you can start talking about kernels -- so can you clarify?
accept button - do you mean the slider? if you have cmod - just activate settings to disable lock menu/trackball/ whatever --also you could try the no-lock unless you have security issues.
if no cmod -- theres apps to reduce the lockage -- that may help you get your phone calls but still doesnt fix the problem? you could try enomther's and his awesome extra ssettings app has all those options
Thanks for your help, well it is my wifes phone and it is fresh from the store, just a bunch of apps installed.
I will try some things and see if i can figure it out. And yes it is the slide button, can that be switched for a push button, Is it theme based or in the dialer?? hope you understand what i say.

If its a stock DESIRE Z and not a G2 then I think it's safe to assume its got sense on it and not AOSP. Did you try hard resetting it? (power down and pulling the battery for at least 30 sec) other than that id check for any OTA updates in the settings menu. OR if you're willing/know how, you can root it and run CM or virtuous. Both ROMs are excellent. If you do that and the problem persists, it could very well be a faulty unit. You have a lot of options!
I found I had problems answering calls when I had a specific make of screen protector on the phone. As soon as I took that off and went back to a previous one I'd used then it was fine again ! It's a long shot, but I thought I'd throw it in there.
Problem solved, An update did the trick, thanks for helping out my friends,
same problem , cannot answer with swipe keys
I have the same problem, which update did you use

does anyone know of a way to disable the vibrate that takes place during startup,x power off or reboot? Its probally right in my face and im just overlooking how to disable it.
also just noticed even when mine is on silent i still get the vibrate on said functions.
either im getting no replies cause of my ignorance or others sit and scratch heads as well.
I think that's the one vibration you can't get rid of...this might be able to happen with a custom recovery, so post this q in the development section and see what you get.
thanks for answering. As for posting this in the dev section, lol...no way, itll get moved back here to Q&A so fast it wont get 1 reply because its not a rom or mod. Unfortunatly ill have to wait till someone does know and happens to stumble upon my thread before it gets pushed to page 2 cause then its a lost cause. thanks for atleast replying though...l8ter, veritas

Not sure this is something you can change, and if you can it won't be easy. A custom Boot animation won't effect it because the vibrate comes before the animation anyways. Not sure man, sorry.
Yea I don't think it's possible to change the vib setting. Maybe it's the phones way of letting you know it's turned on as a fail safe, I mean incase the screen breaks etc.
Is there a way?
I would like to know as well.
Can't find it in settings....maybe a ROM has it?

I find no such setting in stock or CM9...
It's in the framework or systemui (can't remember which). You need to decompile it change a settings in the xml recompile and push it back to your phone.
I am on my phone now so I can't find the link that I read it in, if I get a chance later I will see if I can find it.
I want it also however I haven't bothered to do it.

Hmm... not sure. But if you decompile framework-res.apk, and then navigate to res/values/bools.xml there's code that says "config_unplugTurnsOnScreen" set to true. You can set that to false, and it will not turn on when you unplug your phone, but I don't know if the same holds true if plugging your phone in. =/
I believe it's a kernel setting. On my DInc, same ROMs with different kernels some would screen on when plugging in and others would not.
I would also like to know how to keep the screen ON while plugged in....(and not go to sleep ;] )
Developer options keep screen awake. Or something like that

I, too, would like to know.
Stay awake while plugged in USB
Under developer options I found a setting to stay awake while charging.
I have looked through this forum, in the QandA and have not seen anyone post this problem. Is anyone experiencing the issue where your screen wont auto turn off? I have changed display timeout to 30 seconds, 1minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes and so on... display wont turn off on its own. Also, when charging, if a notification comes up, screen awakes, but wont shut off again. Just curious if other users are having a similar issue or if I am the only one. I know this was a problem for S3 owners, but there was no real problem identifying what was causing it. Any help would be appreciated.
Set up as follows:
Stock JB Build
Rooted
Stock Kernel
(Only Titanium app data {not system} restored)
Almost all syncing data set to 1 hour refresh or greater
Smart Stay is turned off
Pattern Lock enabled
I think that covers most bases and options, but if I am missing something, I would love to know.

Thank you for your input. However, I had checked that option, it was not on to begin with, I turned it on, and then off again, it did not reenable itself, but it still is not the culprit. I am baffled right now.

Hello All,
Could anyone please confirm if they are experiencing the same behavior after Nougat 4.0.2 update?
Whenever i turn Hotspot ON and turn the screen OFF, the hotspot turns OFF automatically after few minutes. Tested with both Stock and Boeffla kernel.
I think it turns off automatically when no users are connected to it. I have seen that setting somewhere, can't remember it.
Hope it helps. Thanks
My Gf's device was connected when this happened. I'm not sure why. I will research if there is any setting for it.
Mine does too, I have a device in my car that I use the Hotspot for and I know its connected and on my phone it turns it off after a few min, so yes same issues, haven't found a fix for it except Turing it back on and seems to work
Maybe if someone can read the whole build prop may find something related to it.
I saw a lot of network and camera and all stuff in build prop for random things.
Happens on 3t as well.

Yes exactly 5min. But not sure if you need to actually use the wifi hotspot or just being connected to trigger the turn off. Ill test myself later
not happening to me. im on freedom os 2.3 . maybe try this rom and see if the šroblem persists

Nah i'm a stock ROM believer. I always just flash custom kernel but i keep the ROM as it is. Especially on OP3, never felt the need to switch to a custom ROM.

FreedomOS is based off of stock rom, just some tweaks to make it better

And that is exactly why i don't use it. I don't need those tweaks at the risk of any compatibility issue or even a minor stability risk. Stock ROM is already rocking so why to even bother a new rom. But the stock kernel has no features, so i flash custom kernel sometimes but i usually stay fully stock.
Try disabling aggressive dose option from settings>battery. My hotspot is now not turning off.
no it has it automatically turns off b/c of Connected Device Manager, there is no way around it that i could find, i use tasker and to re-enable after 5 min, if u use a security key there may be an issue with the device not showing its connected so it disables after 5 minutes
After disabling aggressive dose not a single issue with hotspot turn off for me.
have the oneplus 3t and upgraded to 7.0
oneplus support is suggesting downgrading to Marshmallow but your phone will be reset to scratch.....noticed that the connected device list has to show the phone, laptop, etc. If not, the hotspot will turn off automatically. To bypass it, you have to go into the Set up wifi hotspot option and change name password and AP Bands sometimes for the device to populate in the list of connected devices. Or you can have it open without a WPA key.
This is the only options that worked for me after trying all the others from hard reset, aggressive mode, sleep mode, etc. I really don't want to hard reset and downgrade to Marshmallow.
It doesn't remember my same devices and i always have to change the settings so i leave the WPA off sometimes. You can always disconnect a device if you noticed somebody else trying to use the hotspot.

If I don't want to turn it off, maybe I only put hotspot app into whitelist.
But the quesition is, which application I should exclude? Haven't found anything like yet.
