[Q]Bootmanager, stuck in CM7 with no gapps. - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. I have a slight problem.
I have MIUI as the rom on my phone. I then used bootmanager to install CM7 to my SD Card (slot 1). Then I installed gapps on to slot 1 as well (without any wipes). Then I booted in CM7. It booted up fine except now I have no gapps or any of the apps I had installed in MIUI except for the ones that come with CM7. I don't have Boot Manager or any way to install it. I tried restarting my phone too No go. Help me out guys!
Edit:
I have figured out how to get back to your phone rom. If you should get stuck in an SD card rom so you cannot get back to the phone rom using boot manager then just do a few steps:
1. Reboot to recovery
2. Choose Flash Zip from SD Card
3. Go to BootManager/phone rom folder
4. Flash update.zip (No need to wipe anything beforehand)
It should flash successfully. It went really quick for me too. I'm not sure of that was because of MIUI's size or because it was already installed.
I don't know why gapps didn't install, I'm pretty sure I flashed it correctly. Any help there?

I had the gapps flashing issue when I tried CM7 on my Desire S using the same method if that helps at all?

Q- no wifi on miui rom

So I again decided to try the newest miui rom for my incredible, but as with all prior times I've tried this rom, the wifi won't work. Whenever I switch it on, it tries to scan for networks for a bit before giving up, saying "unable to scan for networks" and then turning itself off (the wifi that is).
I tried looking online, and it seems this isn't just a problem with the rom itself, but maybe something else?
I've tried full wiping before installing and everything. Nothing works. Also, the wifi works fine in skyraider sense rom.
I could really use some advice. Is anyone else having this issue with miui rom?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
The same problem with HTC Desire.
Other ROMs work fine.
Constantly obtaining IP address or scanning.
Any fix for this upcoming or in the new release?
Try flashing the ROM from ROM Manager with full wipe (data/dalvik/cache) then flashing it again over it, using install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard in Clockworkmod Recovery this time. I had that issue in Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo at first then I did that and it fixed it.
I have the same problem on my Milestone. Every other ROM connects immediately thorough WiFi and every version of MIUI don't
Could You PGleo86 tell me exactly step by step how to do this? Because i think i might doing it wrong. I've installed Rom Manager and it got me Flash Clockworkmod Recovery thorough the OP data transfer. Then i chose 'Install ROM from SD card' and pick OpenRecovery/update/miui_file.zip
Should i install Recovery Clockwork in a different way? Manualy put it on sd card and if yes then how, where. Adding update.zip Instead of Androidiani OpenRecovery 3.3 that i have now.
Sorry for my english.

How it's done:
You have clockworkmod recovery on there already, I assume.
Put your ROM's zip on the sdcard.
Boot into clockworkmod through ROM Manager
Use the option for wiping all caches
Use install zip from sdcard to get to the zip you put on there and install. post back here with results

Boot into clockwork doesn't work After clickin this option, i see for just a second image od recovery but it seems to not load completely and boot again loading MIUI again. So i can't go into manual recovery. Maybe it's because i have still andriodiani recovery on the sdcard.
And what about crashing my phone with this app? Is it save already to use it ?

The xda app crashes a lot lol. Try flashing clockworkmod again

Is there any app tool to trace processes responsible for WiFi , to find out why there's no connection? Maybe i could paste log for some developers who would understand my Milestone MIUI case.
Update 29.01.
FroyoMod 2.4. - the same thing. Wifi can't connect.
So only GOT 2.2.1 and official 2.1.

[Q] Boot Manager app Discussion

This is a thread where people can discuss what is working and not working for them for the boot manager app. I will begin by asking if anyone else is having problems using bootmanager with the magnolia ROM. My next question would be is anyone else having a problem not being able to turn on wifi for miui if its put as an sdROM? The only roms that really seem to be fully functional are CM7 and OMFG. What ROM are most people using for the phone ROM, and what roms do you have working fully as sd card roms?
I haven't had much luck with the Boot Manager so far... I can make the backup of my current rom (Miui) and try and install the zips of other downloaded roms and get almost all the way finished and then I will get an error message.. So I have given up and thought I'd wait for an update and see if that may help.
Got Miui Working fine.
After some work and reinstallation I was able to get miui working on the sdcard ROM, for boot manager. I will keep this updated if I notice any more fixes.
A quixk suggestion would be to clear them and reinstall boot manager and restart your phone, after doing that and reinstalling the ROMS on ext2 I noticed they worked/ installed, when they wouldn't before.
After getting the hang of it I have been able to flash any ROM, kernel, nightly or whatever. It's awesome, I think.
I do everything to the phone rom slot through regular clockwork recovery, as if the app didn't exist. Then from the phone rom I flash everything else to the other slots. I always go back and boot into the phone rom before I flash anything to the other slots. Not sure if that's right but it has worked for me.
It would be cool if you could restore an existing nandroid you had into one of the slots but I don't think they are formatted the same. Not sure.
Can someone explain the method of how to perform the setup?
To setup, run the "setup phone rom", which only takes a few seconds. What this does is make a copy of your boot file in case you screw something up. Once this is done, you can install up to 4 different ROM's on your SD card and then boot into them from this same program.
If something gets screwed up along the way and you cannot boot your phone, boot into CWR, install a zip from a file, and find the update.zip in the bootmanager/phonerom(or whatever ROM folder you want to boot) folder.
Currently I am running MIUI, TSM pool party, TSM gangbang, Skyraider Zues, and newt's 3.0 port.

Installed gapps but no market appears

Hello!
I already searched the forum and google for similar problem and found some topics but none were useful or helpful for me
so I just changed my rom to cm7.1.0-RC1.5-jordan-signed (2.3.5 CM7) few hours ago, and I also installed gapps (gapps-gb-20110613-signed) through custom recovery - install zip from sd card (just like I installed the ROM CM7) and chose it
but when I boot the defy no market or any google app is there
I aslo tried to install gapps-gb-20110828-newtalk-signed and got the same thing.. (=nothing)
any ideas?
thank you all =]
Did you try gapps-gb-20110828-signed ?
Yes I did try that.. same thing (didnt work)
umm.....are you looking into the right place?
with the froyo you go to the app page by hitting the home button at the bottom of the phone. with cm7 rc1.5 you select the apps drawer icon on the home desktop, the icon with 4 squares, in between the phone icon and the globe/earth icon.
if this is the case don't feel bad as i couldn't find it the first time too
Nope.. not there.. I dont know what else to do
Ill tell you guys what I did
I did a WIPE and then went to custom recovery - install zip from sd card and chose CM7
and right after it I chose install zip from sd card again and this time chose GAPPS (without another wipe) maybe thats my mistake? do i need to go to custom recovery and wipe again?

nope, you did everything correctly. that's exactly how i did my anyway. infact, since cm7 rc1.5, gapps is already included in the rom. so you don't even need to install gapps anymore, unless you want to use the latest gapps (august version)?
btw which gapps version are you using? could that be the problem? the recommended version is 20110613. the latest is 20110828.
what if you do a full wipe and just install cm7 rc1.5 zip without installing gapps? try that.
note: i'm not an expert. what i said above may not be accurate
Have you added your Google account? If not, Goto Settings -> Accounts and add it. Hopefully after that the GApps should appear.
That happened to me a few times - I think this was the solution.

[Q] Problem Installing Rom 'Android Revolution HD™ 7.0.0'

Hello,
I'm having trouble getting the following ROM to boot after install:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1493404
I have the following:
-S-OFF
-HBOOT-0.76.2000
-RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
-ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.7
I copied the new ROM to SDcard, rebooted to recovery. Performed factory data reset, installed the zip from SD card. It installs successfully, attempts to boot, after white screen with green HTC logo, it reboots to recovery.
I ran an MD5 check on the zip file, verified it was correct. Copied it to SDcard and tried again, no luck. Then I tried installing it from within ClockworkMod Recovery, including wipe options, same thing.
Any ideas?
I'm running into the same issue with most sense 3.5 roms. Beatsrom, Blissdroid, and this one...
But I don't have issues with some others like Andromadus and some MIUI rom that looks like WP7(I can't recall it's name)..
I'm pretty confused on what's wrong since I always do a full wipe before flashing.
If you have a T-Mobile G2, and want to run sense 3.5 roms, you have to install desire z bootloader. I have not done it myself, but here is a video on how to do it. I'm sure if you search there are other guides on how to install the desire z bootloader.

Perfect. Thank you.
Yup, thanks a lot.
Tip to those trying this at home: once you are done with it, remove the PC10IMG.zip from the root of your SD card to be able to boot into recovery without it asking to reflash. Thanks again ACHILLES R32.

Cyanogenmod 10.1.2 but setup stopped...

Ok I've been reading and reading these threads and have found a lot of great info. Right now my phone is useless so I guess I'm asking for a little more specific info for my current situtation. I used mskip's toolkit to root my phone then followed wwjoshdew's video on how to use goomanager to flash CyanogenMod 10.1.2. Everything seemed to be going fine when I got the spinning blue circle screen then came the "Unfortunately, setup wizard has stopped" and "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped". Over and over and over. I can get to download mode and recovery mode but not sure what my next coarse of action should be. This is on an AT&T galaxy s3 originally running 4.1.1. Thanks in advance to any and all help....
I wouldn't use goo manager to flash anything!! U should have flashed straight from recovery, be it cwm or twrp. Did u perform a nandroid backup before u flashed cyan? If so, I would wipe, factory data reset, and install your backup.
Have you tried reflashing Google Apps?
Reboot to recovery, clear cache/dalvik, reflash GApps, clear cache/dalvik again to be sure all is tidy.
Also be sure you have the correct version of GApps; that has messed me up at least once.
Other than that you can always retry the whole process i.e. CM and Apps
Thanks for the replies. I'll try and figure that stuff out. Only reason I've gotten this far was because I was following the toolkit prompts and did the steps in the video as he did them. This is the first time I've tried anything except updating to JB so...
Well, I can't say I've made any progress. I googled correct gapps for cm 10.1.2 and downloaded it but it's like a big collection of stuff that odin won't put in the PDA file spot. I'm not even sure if its the right one. I'm so lost right now. I see all these cwm and twrp recovery files in the toolkit files but not sure if they would help me or not. I know this is fixable since I can still get into recovery and download mode. At this point I would even just go back to stock at least that way I could get rooted again through the toolkit. I'm guess I'm such a noob that I need step by step. I feel like my right arm is missing not having a phone...
Ok I have 2 different versions of gapps that claim to be the right one. I would love to try flashing them to try them out but odin doesn't see them. What am I doing wrong?
Which recovery do u have installed on your phone?
For one dont use odin to flash any custom roms, first download the latest cyanogen mod and gapps, if you need the latest gapps you can get them here. Next you are going to want to boot to recovery and do a factory reset/full wipe then wipe cache/dalvik cache, next go to the top and select load zip from sd card, install cyanogen mod and gapps and reboot the phone.
Ok something different happened this time when I went into recovery. TWRP v2.3.3.1 showed up. I wiped the cache/Dalvik and did the factory reset from there. I have cm-10.1.2-d2att and gapps-jb-20130301-signed ready to copy somewhere. I opened the internal card and saw 8 or so icons that said local disk. so I created a new folder and put the cm and gapps files in there. Does that sound right?
Well that seems to have worked. Rebooted and went through all the google stuff. I'll test everything and see how it works
Glad u got it working!! I usually download Roms straight from my phone, over WiFi of course, and place on the root of the SD card, not in a folder, and flash from there...
