I came from a Note 2 to a Note 4 and when I first opened the Maps app, I noticed that the Maps application seems to be running at like 20fps instead of 60fps like everything else. You can notice it because it's jittery and choppy compared to stuff like switching between home screens.
My Note 2's Maps app is still on Version 6, maybe the newer Map versions aren't as smooth or something?
I recently had maps going and power amp while using Facebook messenger and chrome. Switching between all of them I noticed no lag. I actually love the latest version of maps but I'm coming from my old S3 and it ran very bad while multitasking with maps going, not to mention overheating.
I sideloaded the Version 6 of Google Maps onto my Note 4 and everything is smooth now. I don't know why the newer Maps have such terrible performance...
Hi guys,
I'm about to travel and I was looking for a new device and I've thought of the xperia play as it can be bought really cheap these days
Though, I wonder :
Can it run smoothly, android 4.x, a minimalist nova launcher home, a custom keyboard, texting, a couple of web apps and of course PSX emulation ?
I don't even 3g or fancy features
Sounds like quite the dream to just text and call and be a swipe away to resume a bloody roar game in a train when I see my galaxy nexus stuck below 20 fps for psx emulation
Sorry if I'm not in the good section
thanks

Custom keyboard : Yes , it can
texting web : Yes , it can
PSX emulation : Yes it can
just FYI , i was waiting for 3 years for xperia play 2 , but never happened ... do i've alrease note 3
galaxy nexus have newer and much powerful hardware than play. if you cant get sufficent fps on galaxy nexus, you wont be able to get higher valules on play.
you will not be able to instantly switch between heavy games and apps, cuz play have only ~270Mb of free ram, which is not enough for even app only multitasking.
Maybe you can do smooth gaming when staying on 2.3. I've been using an ICS rom from Markpython for almost two years now. It was quite fast at the start but I must say that it's getting slower and slower in my daily use. I use more apps now than I did at first and perhaps the apps have gotten heavier over the years.
I don't even use the facebook app, I currently only have these apps running and don't have anymore space:
- Whatsapp
- Youtube
- Google maps
- Link2SD (this is a must, you need to use an app like this to force your apps to be installed on the sd card as the intern card is very small)
- Tinder
- 9gag
- NS (local train app for train times in the Netherlands)
- ES file explorer
I will be trying Mike's CM11 build now that wifi works soon so I hope that makes it better.
my some apps running slow and i dont use cm10.1 or whatever, is there someone to know or had experience about it? when i bought it ,it was good and running fast .
and sometimes my google chrome when i wanna open it it comes so slow, like google plus's notifications panel ,whatsapp's messages and many....
Which version is the most stable... I use the phone heavily and the update is just horrible.. heavy 3d games that ran great now lag and mortal kombat x which I play on daily basis has a bug where it won't display any text on screen such as the hit points or weather to swipe or tap... just very weird
I have the ze551 version 4gb ram 64gb memory... with the latest update
A few of us are having problems with laggy Google Maps after upgrading from KitKat to Lollipop. I've tried two different custom ROMs and both have the same issue. Has anyone managed to fix it yet?
yeah, I used to have same issue but installed DSA rom last night and everything smooth!

Google Maps on my Joying MTCD 5.1 was pretty laggy to launch.
However on my new Joying 2GB RAM, Intel unit it runs pretty quick, maybe it is a RAM issue
