Hello.
I bought a phone from ebay and it came rooted with ginger yoshi 1.4
The phone is overall fast, but most of the time after being in the apps menu if you go to the home screen it slows, i mean it takes a while (8-12 seconds +/-) to load the home screen (including the weather applet)
Is there anyway to make it a little faster or is it always like that? (your magic does that too?)
The phone its the fender edition or the MyTouch 1.2 the one with a little more ram.
Also is there a GPS issue with this particular yoshi? because i cant seem to connect to sattelites, gmaps says unable to get your location and GPS test shows "Gps On" but with yellow instead of green.
Thanks i appreciate your time and replies.
Edit
I found the reason for the launcher to restart, but i cant seem to find anything about the GPS

No offense meant here, but I think you posted this in the wrong device forum. It might be why you haven't gotten much in the way of response. This is the forum for the MyTouch slide.
Good luck!

As title suggests. Using the recent one released on here with HTC Sense v1.0c.
Used to only get HSDPA with stock firmware.
Thought I saw a thread on here discussing it but I couldn't find it.
Can anyone help please?
use search button or simply search the development section theres many fixes for this
You are getting HSDPA, it's just the icon not being displayed - as said there are fixes for it
As I said I did try searching but couldn't find anything.
I'll have another look.
Appreciate the reply.
I can't find the fix either!

who would of thought people still don't know about this
it's native in froyo roms that there is no H icon, speed tests will show you are using HSDPA, it even says in your phone settings...
just download a custom notification bar/theme such as blackbar for defrost.
I know its not in the stock roms and its never really bothered me. I don't want a custom theme I just want the H icon to add to my current rom. But don't know if there is more to it than just dropping the icon into a certain folder through recovery.
There is more to it. It is about editing the framework-res.apk fil on the system partition. And as it just uses the 3g icon you will probarbly also have to edit some xml files. Just about the same as done with the battery mod
I'm sure there are a simple 'update' to get the H icon. Going through the many pages for each ROMS, it comes up quite a few times.

Not everyone is glued to this forum following every little Android thing. Rooting and using ROMs is very new to me. I only started 4 days ago. But thanks for being "accommodating".
I did a search and nevertheless the answers appeared. I then did the keypad trick with *#*#4636#*#* and noticed my phone IS on HSDPA, just not displaying a H.
I'm very content with that so problem solved.
Thank you to everyone that replied.

Wow, to be so demeaning to someone and then thank them for giving them the answer. Nice.

OK I read that back and probably came across as a c***.
I run a forum and one of my pet peeves is dismissive veteran members when they interact with noobs. Your tone suggested I should know it all. My tone suggested I'm a penis.
I did find the answer before reading your post. I apologise for the dickishness.
@EddyOS - Not EddyOS UK Garage DJ by any chance?

HSDPA icon is included by default AFAIK, the framework just needs to be built with it enabled.
Hey folks!
A friend gave me a hand getting DamageControl 3.5 on my EVO and I love it. I've been told that 3.6 has some new features so I'm going to upgrade to 3.6. I love all the info that's on this forum, but I've got a couple noob-ish questions, I'm afraid:
Somebody mentioned flashing radios/firmwares, where can I find those? Do I really need them?
Evidently in 3.6 there's new battery-saving features. Should I turn off SetCPU now? Are the two features mutually exclusive?
I like the idea of JuiceDefender, but how does the data-limiting feature work? If I launch the email app, will it turn on data or do I have to wait? Will I still get text messages if data is off?
Hmm, I suppose 3 questions
Thanks for your time!
EDIT: Hmmm, I appear to be in the wrong forum. My mistake... if a mod can fix that would be nice.

Unless you're have horrible signal, chances are you're fine the way it is. I believe there's a thread someone in this board (i think i saw it in the past few days) that was keeping track of the current radios, etc. I personally haven't upgraded my radios since i got mine in July.

I haven't checked in on DC in awhile, but see if it says anything in the OP. If it's using Calkin's or Myn's ( i forget who ported it ) SetCPU will probably interfere & do more harm than good.

Never used Defender, but i believe it changes how frequently data is poll-ed for. I would think if you choose to manually search for mail it will turn data back on for you. You will still get texts, but i believe MMS won't automatically be downloaded
Hmm, I suppose 3 questions
Thanks for your time!

Responses in bold above.
Thanks for the quick response! I don't care about MMS, I don't think I've ever had a picture/etc sent to me via text in my life.
How do I tell if I'm using a port? I just grabbed the one off the android store.
I happen to be one of those rooters who still enjoys the Sense UI over an AOSP base.
However, I was wondering if there was a way to lower the amount of home screens I have. My daily is Myn's RLS4 and with Sense I find myself only really using 3-5 home screens and basically fill the other 2 with widgets just so they are not blank. I wouldn't mind them if I have to, but it's possible my phone would run a little quicker and save some battery if I were able to limit the amount of home screens and focus on using the apps for the info when I need it rather than have the widgets constantly running.
I'm not sure if there is a way to integrate a Miui or ADW/Launcher Pro method of controlling how many screens we have, but I think it's not far out of the ballpark.
I searched through the forums for about an hour looking for any info, but didn't find anything. Please post a link if this has been discussed already.
haha bump. i would like to know that aswell. there are times that i miss the clouds fly by lol.

Seriously though, when I first got the Evo, I was like yeah seven screens your other phones suck. Now I just want 3, maybe 5.

For the clouds just install "widgetlocker" it has the option
Hey bud not sure if you noticed, but this is not the Q&A section. Questions are to be asked in Q&A.
....really you cant change that in the sense options somewhere? Just another reason Sense is lame, imo.
LauncherProPlus, FTW!!! I got one homescreen, and 15 icons in my dock, not to mention swype gestures, and running CM6 so i have lockscreen gestures as well...
My Evo > Sense UI

Hey buddy, this is a development question. It was more of a suggestion of an idea that I had not seen before more than a question about something that exists.
The community is about making better devices, apps, etc. for all and there's no need to waste your time posting a reply about being in the wrong section. If it is violating anything, the mods can move it.
Moved to Q&A as this is a [Q]. The Android Development threads are for software coding/releases.
Bump. Nothing on this yet?
Any info would be nice.
Thanks
bump
Would love some guidance on this, hoping the # of homescreens config is held in a file somewhere and someone with a rooted phone can edit it?
I have looked long and hard on the threads here and in the Development section.
I was unfaithful and forgot my roots. I left Warm Z TwoPointTwo, I went on to different Roms which I thought were better... but I was wrong. I miss the good old days of Myn and his Warm Z.
Now the problem comes in that the download link for the thread is not a active link anymore.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966728&highlight=warm+z
I need this ROM, and I can't not find it anywhere on my computer or on XDA. If someone has it can you pretty please get it to me somehow? Mail it, Dropbox share it, open a download link, anything. I might even come to your house and get it.
My heart is not whole anymore and I can't live without Warm Z. Please Help!

I happened to find this laying around. Does it happen to be what you were looking for ?
I had to move on because of the "Known Issues" section of the ROM, specifically, the second (and maybe even the third) item(s):

Dialpad Touch Tones - *Fix* Set the tones to "off" or "long" in settings-->sound-->audible tones, for them to register.
No 4G

Hey guys! I just jumped the sinking Sprint ship and made the move to AT&T. I got myself a brand new LG Nitro and immediately rooted and installed CM9. I'm used to the cm experience as I had an Epic 4G on sprint. Anyways, after installing CM9 my LED buttons won't light up. Is this a known issue? I could use some help because without the LEDs its hard to use this phone in the dark since I'm not used to the button placement yet. Thanks in advance!
I just had the same problem. Look through the setting. Turn auto-bright on
Sent from my LG-P930 using XDA
Derpp. thanks man!
Settings?
I'm still getting used to the settings of CM9 and can't seem to find the spot where that toggle is. Can you give me a menu ---> location pls?
Thanks

I'm familiar with forums thanks. It's my Android that I'm not. In fact I did do a search and found a day old thread which I figured was the best way to get my information.
Thank you for you input
