Hey guys, bought my girlfriend a Wildfire not too long ago, and every few days it'll just come up and say "Limited Service" and have no signal. Restarting this seems to sort it until the next time, I'm just wondering if anyone else has this problem?
She doesn't want to root it, but I'm planning on doing it anyway and putting another ROM on it to see if that sorts it. Maybe another radio?
Any help appreciated.
All i can think is the radio?

Hey guys,
Here's my problem that has been getting progressively worse over the last few weeks. My phone is fully rooted with adb unlocked and I have had that done since I originally purchased the phone in June. I really had no issues no matter what Rom/Kernal I used until the last month and a half. Since then, my phone seems to have episodes where it will restart at random times whether on a phone call, on the net, or just idle. I've tried different kernals, undervolting, stock volt, and a hundred different roms with similar results. Anyone have any idea what to make of this? I have noticed that this DOES NOT occur while in Recovery or before getting to Android so I don't think it's a hardware issue. I always wipe data/cache/dalvik before using a Rom and I'm not a noob by any means. I have done everything that came to mind when initially troubleshooting this issue, but I'm out of ideas. Hopefully someone that's a bit more advanced than I am can come up with some possibilities. Thanks guys, I really appreciate any and all feedback!
sadly, it is a corrupted something issue. happened to me a couple months back. there is a whole thread on it down in q&a. no solution. unroot, and return. sorry to tell you this. sprint is usually pretty good about that stuff though.
sorry to write you this death notice...
My brother had the same problem with his Evo. Unrooted and it still had the problem. Had to return it under warranty.
Hey guys,
So this might be a n00b question to ask but i haven't seen any other posts on it for the Evo 4g.
I can make calls, but not receive them. I can send texts and people get them right away, but i don't receive them right away, I receive all my texts at once an hour or two later, sometimes a day later. I checked my system time and it was supposed to be 9:30 am but it said 4:45 pm, then it went back to 9:30 am about 5 min later.
It seems like a radio problem because my network works fine with facebook and heytel.
I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this, is it a network issue i need to contact sprint or is it a problem within the phone itself.
Is your evo rooted?
I had a similar problem but it was when i had a blackberry but it wasnt all the time. Sometimes i got texts almost a day later.
*Usually*, it is a network issue. You can try updating your profile in the settings menu. Also, it is not uncommon to experience such things while roaming.

Ya it's rooted with Unrevoked running Riptide w Calkulin 1.8.0
Haven't had any problems with it until yesterday, been running it ever since it came out.
I'm definitely not roaming.
Updated my profile and PRL
Gonna re-update, pull the battery for a few, and call sprint customer care. I read somewhere people have this issue when their phone is in forward mode, random for it to all of a sudden just happen unless the phone got dropped or shorted out somehow.
I had a friend have the same problem yesterday but he just went through insurance and got a new phone.
So you're right it could be a network issue and spending $ on a new phone to gamble on having the same issue doesn't sound like something anyone would want to throw money at.

Give it a day or two, you definitely don't want to pay for something you don't need.
Also, back up your current setup, calikulin format all, and try flashing something else to see if the problem is ROM based.
Thanks Green. Good words brothuh, i gotta older version of Fresh i'm gonna try that out.
I haven't seen any new worthy ROMs with the gingerbread so staying clear from that for awhile.
Unless you have one you would recommend trying out.

Flash a different kernel. It shouldn't have an affect on your issue, but, I've learned that anything us possible with smartphones.

Thanks Doug, not sure how to flash just the kernel but i'll look it up and post the results later today. Thanks for the tips!!
I tried reflashing the entire ROM and no dice. Think it's definitely a network issue. Going to sprint today, keep you guys posted.
I had the same problem and was on EVIO 1.8. I reflashed my PRI and that seem to have solved my problem. I tried many things but after flashing the PRI the phone has had no problems and that was about a month ago.
Here is my post to someone who had a similar problem as you.

My daughter got an incredible back in January. The first gave problem from the begining and she had to trade it for a used one. The second one has been usable with some quirks so she says. It has been dropping calls from the begining but recently she says it has gotten worse and was going to take it in this week so get help.
She lives in another state for college but is home this week. I was thinking about upgrading the radio. It has 7.28 installed. I have been reading this forum trying to get up to speed on this phone but I hate to do too much as she isn't tech savvy at all, and she lives out of state.
I was thinking of upgrading the radio to see if that would cure the problem. I searched and didn't find anything about dropped calls. I was thinking about upgrading the radio and putting on sky raider hoping to fix some of the other quirks, but I hate to since she lives out of state. I won't be able to take back to stock if the phone gives out completely and she has to take it in.
Anyone have similar problems with this phone? opinions?
Hey guys, First time poster but not exactly new here. I finally got around to Rooting my phone and replacing the ROM with CM7. I'm in love with CM7 and I haven't had any problems with it except for the Reception. The 3G and 4G seem to be duking it out for control over my phone and its killing my battery, at least think that's whats killing my battery. I tried to adjust the APN settings but it slightly worked the signal still alternating between 4g,3g, and Edge. Sometimes it seems that the 4G only kicks in when needed, but that was not the case because i was trying to browse the internet and it kept jumping around again and stopped on edge Im hardly getting any 4G . The Wifi is working fine though. Anyone else having this problem. Im sorry if im reposting anything >.> but i really have been looking for help for the past 2 days and have found nothing if there is a fix or patch can you point me in the right direction?
try flashing a new radio?
+1 for new radio. Over the past week I have been exploring different radio. I started with 12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26 which came with my phone, jumped to 12.52.60.25_26.08.04.30 which most people find to be best for them but this was worse for me (speed was significantly worse, signal slightly better), and finally tried the newest one, 12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03. For me the newest one is by far the best in terms of speed and signal. But of course which is best for you depends on your location and what not. Thanks hopefully this will solve my issue if i can figure it out.
Hey guys ever since getting this phone ive been having to keep getting replacements for it and it still havent fixed the various problems that ive had with this phone.
1. microphone will cut out during calls and sound will stop working.
This problem has been resolved from getting a replacement through verizon's warranty program.
After receiving my replacement however, i am now getting the signal drop issue where the only way for the phone to work is putting it in CDMA mode. Ive researched online and found that various other people have been experiencing the same problem with their galaxy nexus. So i go to the store to order another replacement.
After receiving my 3rd replacement, still no luck. This phone is still experiencing the same problem has the last where the signal would randomly keep dropping. So i go back into the store and decide to switch out the sim card for the phone and order another replacement.
The 4th replacement comes in and to still no surprise the signal keeps dropping off. I found that both korean made phones and chinese made phones are experiencing the same problem. Ive changed my SIM card, rooted and unrooted, tried various roms, updated to the unofficial 4.1 jelly bean update and still nothing fixes this damn radio problem.
Im so fed up with this phone but if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated as i have no idea how to get a working galaxy nexus and have never experienced a working one still. I would KILL to get a phone that actually keeps a 4g signal ><
This should not be in development.
Oi...
I don't quite understand the purpose of these threads...
For reference, this is the development forum despite the Verizon designation. Releases only here.

oops sorry will move my post to general.
Can't find download links for your rom.
oh wait...
There is nothing you can do except to keep getting replacements. No software will fix your issue at this time.
I just received a replacement yesterday as my phone's radios, voice and data would disconnect and only a reboot would fix it. Today I made it through the day without it happening once on my replacement. Still not convinced it is the device though until I go a few days without it happening.
If it happens with this one, I would say it is more of software radio issue and not the physical device and Samsung needs to do something about it.
So, I will see how it goes over the next few days. If this one continues to work, then it could possibly be the device. I My first GNEX though would not keep 4G for more then a minute and jump off, then on, then 3G, then 4G. To me that was the device. My next one would just lose it after a few hours, otherwise it was fine....
Let's hope the 3rd one is a charm.
Try updating the radio and is it possible you live in a area where signal is poor. I haven't had an issue at all with my nexus

"like new" replacement improperly tested
Jooining the club.... I had a relatively well functioning gnex until about 2 weeks ago, it did reboot once in a while, but oh well. Then it totally died suddenly. Tried to revive it to save data, but to no avail. So here you come Verizon "like new" replacement..... :fingers-crossed:
Oh no....well sure enough, started to have problems with dropped connectivity data + voice immediately after init.
Previous phone never did it. And it is doing this over a huge urban city.... I was careful in transferring my SIM as well.
there a slew of threads around forums discussing this issue and related (among others see through https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24345"]https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24345
Is is time for class action against Verizon for improper testing procedures and wrongly sending faulty devices as new (which they can pass along to Samsung since ultimately, it is probably Samsung who is playing dumb) ?
