Hi,
Today i bought the xperia arc.
I love the quality of the phone but have 1 main issue.
I'm not able to send an sms.
It keep saying "sending" and after a few minutes i get the message that it failed.
I can receive an sms fine.
I can also send/receive mms without any problems.
When i put another sim card in my phone, i have the same issue so it's not sim card related. Both sim cards can send sms in other phones.
I did a factory reset, this didn't help.
I also connected the phone to SE pc companion and did a software reset, but this still doesn't help.
Anybody had the same issue?
Nope, didn't have the same issue, but what you can try is download SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) from official site and try to repair through that tool.
Hope it works out, and in case it doesn't, bring the device back for replacement, cuz something simple as sending an sms has to work out of the box.

Hi,
That's what i tried, but for the xperia arc the software is called "SE pc companion" instead of SEUS.
So i guess i will exchange the phone tomorrow
no, that's not correct, you have PC Compagnon and SEUS, lemmie see if i can provide the correct link brb
wow, that was hard to find.
it's for a different model, but same version as i have on my computer, so you coud give it a go.
if it doesn't work, lemme know i'll upload my file somewhere for you

Hi,
Thanks for the link.
When running the software i got the message that the latest version was already on my phone.
So i picked the "repair" option , after a few minutes, i booted the phone, tried sending an sms but no joy.
So i'll be bringing it back tomorrow
Thanks for the help
The sales guy told me this might have to do with the Sim card being to old.
Was only 6 month so i wasn't sure this would be the case but i asked my provider to swap the cards.
After 2 days i received the new card and i was able to send text messages, so this was the issue
wow that sounds crazy because my card may be older then 6 or 7 years old now and I never had that problem .

Suddenly my HTC P3300 doesn't connect to the Orange network.
I had the phone for over a month and now doesn't work anymore.
I have an italian SIM card and it works perfectly.
If I choose the automatic connection, the device keep searching forever, if I choose the manual, can't connect.
Not sure what happen here, Any ideas?
I'v tried soft, hard reset upload a new ROM, nothing!
Sounds more like a service provider issue than a phone issue.
Put the original ROM back in and then go to the nearest Orange store and tell them the problem.
I thought the same, but I think that there is something wrong with the actual device... If I try to choose any other available network that is not Tmobile, doesn't work..
Where did you buy your phone from?
It was a brand new? or 2nd hand
did U upload a pdamobizROM? If yes did U tried to restore anything from any bkup(sunnysoft, sprite, spb ....)I mean ie contacts or appointments ...?
If yes try other rom i found this prob with this rom. after restoring any bkup, it stops to connect to network(phone at least)
Yups same problem i have encountered with PDAMozbiz 1.1.2 ROM and am seeking help ..... is there anyone who can dedicate some of his precious time to help me out on this?

Hi,
Here is the problem and the options that I have tried...
The phone works for some time, during this time I can receive and make calls. But suddenly it pops with a message "Invalid or Missing sim card. You can still make emergency calls if your service provider permits"
If I switch on the inflight mode and switch this mode off after 2-3 hours, it starts working. But the same message pops up after some time.
Below are the steps that I tried:
1) Upgraded the ROM to v1.13.188 (from O2 site)
2) Upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.0
3) Hard reset and soft reset etc...
How ever after the first upgrade of ROM it worked continusly for 3 days, but now it doesnot work for more than 2-3 hours, back to square one.
I havent tried the sim unlock. I couldnt find the unlock code and process from the link you had mailed.
Hope this will help you in suggesting the next steps to fix the issue.

Hi,
Please let us know the Rom version and radio stack you are using.
Have you tried downgrading back to the WM5 Rom and seeing if the problem persists?
I would guess that it is a dirty/damaged Sim card, have you tried cleaning the contacts on the sim card itself........... you can do this with a pencil rubber.........
Try the steps above and try another sim if u have one available, failing that post back some specific information on your Radio and Rom Versions.
Cheers,
Beast
happened to me too (after I dropped my JasJar)
I'm sorry to tell you this but the issue is not your software image.
This is a hardware problem.
I can tell you my JasJar dropped to the floor. phone speaker stopped working (but came back after the 2nd fall).
I then started to rarely get this "invalid SIM" message. I ignored it at first.
but it got more and more frequent until the phone was no longer usable.
I didn't change any firmware during that period. I blame only the crashes.
Something there must have cracked. cleaning the hardware didn't help for me.
I finally gave up and sent it to manufacture labs.
I had same problem and had to send it in and imate replaced the board for me and since it was within warranty it was done for free
ROM: 1.13.82 WWE
ROM Date: 11/30/05
Radio Version: 1.04.02
Protocol Version: 42.37.P8
Extended ROM Version: 1.13.188WWE
How ever after the first upgrade of ROM it worked continusly for 3 days, but now it doesnot work for more than 2-3 hours, back to square one.
and it hasnt been dropped so why would it work for 3 days then start doing this

Hi

this is the exact same prablem I am facing, was anybody able to figure out how to fix this issue?
Hi,
I am experiencing a strange problem with a Xperia Arc, LT15i, which one of my friends asked me to 'fix'. The scenario is as follows:
- The phone has no warranty
- The phone had a stock ROM from 3 here in Denmark, 2.3.6, not sim locked, not rooted.
- Whenever I try to make a phone call, it immediately hangs up
- The same happens when a call is received, no ringtone or any other indication of an incoming call, phone hangs up immediately.
- The phone is unable to receive messages
- When I try to send a message, it fails
- Messages sent to the phone are not received
- 3G and internet work fine
I thought that this was some kind of a software bug related to the stock rom, so I tried to install stock ICS on it by following one of the widely available guides, the ROM installed fine, problem persists.
I have not been able to find any information on other people experiencing the same problem on google, nor here on XDA. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can trace the root of the problem? Can it be radio FW related? Can I get any useful information by rooting the phone, installing busybox and tracing the system logs, dmesg, etc. ?
Any suggestions and ideas are welcome!
Best regards, Denis

If everything is stock, bootloader still locked, then try to repair your phone with sonyericsson PC Companion. But backup all your contacts and messages, because it delete al your data.
There is no data on the phone, so I am free to experiment as much as I want. I will try to see what the Sony Ericsson companion can do, but I am quite sure that the guy who's phone it is already has tried that, which resulted in the stock operator ROM from 3 being reinstalled. I am not exactly sure on whether the bootloader is locked or not, I have not played around with SE phones this much before, as I am used to HTC Is there a quick way to find out?
Hello,
I'm experiencing the same problem but with SIM cards from only one carrier (TMN Portugal). Its works fine with VODAFONE and OPTIMUS.
I can get 3G and internet but "No Service" for calls and SMS. When I try to call I get "Out of Service Area".
The TMN SIM cards work on another handsets, not in mine.
Did you solve your friends problem? If so, how?
Thanks in advance m8.

My Xperia suddenly stopped connecting to mobile networks for some reason. The antennae is fine, it detects the networks but doesnt connect to them. I flashed the same rom and a couple of others to see what happens but the same problem persists. What should I do?
Try this
ONLY IF YOUR BOOTLOADER IS UNLOCKED flash another kernel and a rom , and reset all of your settings , if the problem is still there contact someone to repair your phone ... preferably sony.

Tried different kernels and roms, no luck...
i suggest
its probably best to send your xperia for repairs , if not Try messing around with your GSM card or sim or what ever you want to call it, it may not be your phone
Hi, I've bought my mom Sony Xperia M. After a half month phone start crashing down when she want to call or sometimes when she accept incoming call or if it dont crash down when she receive call then she can't heard anything and even I dont hear her. After that crash when phone restart she can call for a while but after some time it happened again. FW is Stock - 15.1.C.2.8. Dont you know if is could be problem problem of a ROM (radio - kernel) or SIM card (I know that she has very old SIM).
Try reinstalling the firmware with Sony Update Service, it may fix this. However, be advised that doing a repair through Sony Update Service will wipe all user data stored in the phone, so, make a backup first...
So I tried it. Nothing help. It's like only software being restarted because phone dont want for me SIM code after restart.
