No sound on boot? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Hmm, for some reason I'm not getting any sound when I boot my phone.
I went from using the Call of Android boot animation, to a different one, and took the sound out, but decided to go back to it, and now the sound won't load.
Pushed via adb, if I look in the folder via Astro, SPC_animation_final.mp3 is in there, and it works on my computer, but I can't figure out why no sound plays on boot.
Any ideas?

Is your volume up, and take a look at the default.xml in system/customize/CID near the bottom. Look for audio=system/customize/resource or data/local or system/media/adroid_audio or spc_animation_final.mp3 to make sure audio is enabled
My rice krispies told me what to say
lol, yes my sound is up, that's the 1st thing I checked when it wouldn't work.
aw, I see the problem. I just checked the xml, and for some odd reason Synergy has it listed as android_audio.mp3 instead of SPC_animation_final.mp3
thx for the tip at looking at the default.xml

Low phone volume
I have an HTC Hermes and I would like the phone volume to be higher than it is, at the highest setting it seems like it's only about mid level to other phones, the speaakerphone works great, but not the mini phone speaker. so how can I increase the volume on the phone part of it. The volume level is on highest already.
I'd like that too. It's definitly low and sometimes i have trouble to hear in noisy environement.
Summerblues and Randall, you have to give us a little more information to go on. Have you flashed a WM6 ROM? If so, which one? Some of the WM6 ROMs were supposed to fix this low volume problem.
I use the Schaps 3.57a wm6 rom. And the volume is lower than the stock rom imo. Is there a patch or a way to fix it ? Thx
low volume I'm using vp3G's WM6 Cingular/AT&T Optimized ROMs
Read the Hermes Wiki theres a post on how to fix this http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry
Do you mean this entry? ==================================== Fix low volume issue The volume issue has 2 fixes, 1 permanent and 1 temporary. If you disable the startup animation (see below) it permanently fixes the volume problem. If you like the animation you can leave it, but you have to put your phone in sleep mode then bring it out of sleep mode after every reboot. \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Volume add: DWord value name = volume value data = 4294967295then press power (sleep) wait 10 sec and press power again. ====================================== It basically says: "Remove startup animation and you a golden", but it does not work as advertised. I have Sleuth 3.1 ROM which does not have startup animation, but still the earpiece volume is very low.

I'm using VP3G's WM6 AT&T Rom.
I'm kind of just pulling this out of my ass, but I have noticed that on some ROMs, there is a .exe called "set acoustic parameters" or something like that. It runs on first boot. I always assumed that it was the fix for the Hermes being too quiet. Did your ROMs run that at start up?

crazyC said: so how would we add this into a home cooked rom of our own (or tell if it is in the base rom we are using!) ?? Cheers Click to expand... Click to collapse Well, the fastest/laziest way to find out if it is in the rom you are using is to ask the maker. Or, if you don't want to do that, you could do a full back up and hard reset. It should run the first boot config again after the setup. Really though, the setacoustic.exe file takes a really long time to load. Long enough that you would probably remember it if had loaded.
How do i install that in the rom i'm using atm ? Thx
how can we install it ?

Ratcom, I was just moving files around on my pc today, and noticed some set acc. files transferring over from some old rom dumps etc, so I took a peek, I have 61 files here including the .exe, I thought they were .xml files also, but these are .csv, are you sure on that xml? I could have some jacked up files, I didn't check a rom directly. Also, about cooking them in, Im thinking it should be possible to just dump them in the windows directory of the rom you are currently running, and run the .exe, and then they could even be deleted afterwards, Im have not checked this for myself though. I am also wondering if the .csv/or if its .xml count in each rom that had it is the same. If anyones cares for the files I have, lemme know, I can't post attachments through PIE atm, but Ill up them later if anyone is interested. Btw, the .csv count jumps from setaccousticparam29 to setaccoustic100, on these files I have here, meaning nothing inbetween 29 and 100, and not having checked a few roms directly myself at the moment, Im not sure if those were intentionally left out oem. edit: After just quickly checking the above zip, the cusTSK.exe is for setting a .tsk file aka oem preconfig theme, and isn't needed, but that's no biggie, not sure about the others, I would have to check better.

Click to collapse In some builds, when you boot Android, it gives this kind of tutorial on how to use your phone (Wich has as title "Welcome to full android on Kaiser" for example), time and date settings and connect to Google account, It's possible that it isn't in the one you use Don't worry about it, the welcome to android doesn't show when u press D-pad, the D-pad is to get into the menu when ur kernel is booting (the one with black background and white letters) The menu is to install your system, make backups, clear dalvik and others
ok... but what do i do now about the sound? (and the wifi if posibble)
Gaura Mohana said: ok... but what do i do now about the sound? (and the wifi if posibble) Click to expand... Click to collapse Sound=New Radio Wi-Fi is probably androidupdate [SOUND] Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182 Scroll down until you see this: KAISER Radios These Radios were ripped from Kaiser WM6.1 ROMs. Pick a radio and download it. HARDSPL IS NEEDED FOR THE RADIO! Extract the file and change the name from the NBH file to KAISIMG.NBH if the name is something else. Copy KAISIMG.NBH onto the root of your sdcard and plug your sd card into the phone. Hold down the camera button and turn the device on or reset it. When you see a tri-colored screen, release the camera button. When you see a blue text with something like RADIO (i guess) press the power button (just 1 little press, no long pressing) The device will now update your RADIO, when finished just reset it. Now reinstall your Android version by holding down the D-center button when asked, then selecting Install System and make it clear data. [Wi-Fi] Copy the androidupdate.tgz into your Andboot folder Reboot the phone and press D-center button when asked Choose the option to install update Wait for it to finish and just press quit to boot Android

Thanks for the file. i just tried installing the liquid update from this post, and all i get is error under wifi (before wifi would turn on - but it kept on searching and found nothing). i did install a old update before this. could that have messed it up? i also have a problem with USB mounting. I click turn on USB storage, and it works randomly. it works 1 time - doesnt work 10... replkuggin and stuff doesnt work. as in "Android Phone" is showing in Eject, but nothing is showing in explorer EDIT ----------------------- I just re-installed android and now installed the liquid update. NOW wifi turns on, but it just scans (has been scanning for 5 minutes) my ipod touch sees the network immediately.

And since it's 06:24 here in the morning, we have a bit of a time issue I think.

U should really try connecting with a normal Wi-Fi network Go onto the street and look for appartments or houses with open networks just to test?
i live in a small town..... no one here has internet let alone wifi....
aww that's balls got no idea on how to try it then
-SOLVED!! [Q] Need Help, Where Do I Place Shuddown Sound I've Created For Animations?
Hi I've had no luck finding the specific file name, type and location I need for the shutdown sound to go with the shutdown animation I've been working on. I know the shutdown animation on Desire HD is called "downanimation.zip" and it goes in the "/system/customize/resource" folder of the phone. I don't know a file name or type it uses as by default there is no sound. I also know the startup sound is "android_audio.mp3" placed in the "/data/local" folder of the phone. Any help would be much appreciated. I'll be sure to post the finished product of the startup & shutdown aminations I've been working on in the Themes & Apps section for Desire HD on XDA. ---Update 19 Feb 2011--- SOLVED!!! Yay I've finally figured this out!! Using a .mp3 for shutdown sounds now works! This may well be a first for Desire HD! Please follow this thread I made, just look at the top of the first post and the update explains it and has included files. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935761
just a stab the dark ..... but have you tried adding a shutdown.ogg to /system/media/audio/ui/
Yes I've tried that and it does nothing. I think I maybe getting closer though... I've found that the two .xml files located in "/system/customize/CID/" have info at the bottom of the xml file wich tells the Android system where to look to locate the boot animation, the shutdown animation and the startup sound as well as the frame rate to use for the shutdown animation. I've tried to edit this to include an audiio location for the shutdown but so far it hasn't worked. The frame rate change did work for my shutdown animation though. So I believe the code here is different than the one used in the .xml for the startup sound or maybe even the kernal won't work with it at all?!? I really don't know?!? I'm now trying to find a custom ROM from another phone based on Android 2.2 that does use shutdown sounds and then I can see what it has in the "default.xml" file located in /system/customize/CID. If anyone knows a phone & ROM please let me know so I can use it to solve this. Thanks

Originally posted by Androhero the samung galaxy s, uses a shutdown sound Click to expand... Click to collapse Yes The Samsung phones are the only ones I've found so far with guides of where to put the shutdown animation sound. That's the folder mentioned above. It doesn't work on a Desire HD. I've downloaded 3 custom ROMs for the Samsung Facinate & Captive trying to find the similar .xml files that would give me the clue how to enter the write code for the system to use shutdown sounds on a Desire HD. I can't find the files in the Samsung ROMs Lee the developer of LeeDrOiD custom ROMs said maybe it's not possible. Damn Anyway I'll be posting the startup and shutdown animations I've been working on....
Done, Done and Done. Happy to finally get a shutdown MP3 file to work! Check the top of the page for the info and link.... all explained. Have fun!
[Q] how do I delete reboot tone
Since 1st time I rebooted my phone (even before I had my friend Root and flash Blazer 4.0,) my Samsung Epic 4G touch would play this Phone ring tone titled " minimal tone " that is a major annoyance and I cant find the file or source to delete or change the settings. This occurs only when I reboot the phone. Btw- my actual phone ringtone is NOT set to this tone. I thought maybe a music player/media player was at fault. ( where I could delete the app ). And even after doing complete wipe prior to flashing Blazer 4.0, it still plays this tone. As i said, this tone existed prior to rooting or Flashing rom. I thought there might be a way to extract and delete this file- Please send me detailed info on how and where I can correct this. I even took phone to Sprint ( preroot/rom ) and they had no clues.. the tone will play for 3-5 minutes. please people- help me out.( I hope its not a defect,)
You need root access to remove the start up tone. I think all the ROMs for this phone have it removed by default though.
administrative access- tone file delete phone is rooted- I just dont know how to find this particular file/tone and delete it and/or change settings
I believe its located in system/media/video/shutdown
File found THANKS ! was under system/media/audio/ringtones/minimal tone and de-leted !!!,,, next- I will have to see if the system plays any other tone by some strange systematic replacement or if it will simply be muted as desired. I searched in the great app ROM TOOLBOX,,root browser ( paid version ) and Voila !
anomoly continues Need Expert assistance- The tone itself was deleted- I rebooted phone 3-4 times since , changing boot animation and font change ( using rom toolbox ) but was shocked when on the 5th reboot the dreaded sound played !! but when I looked in the file of ringtones- its gone ! What the heck ?? please give ideas and help.
Boot sound (PowerOn&PowerOff.ogg)
Hi xda. Just installed Malaysk rom the other day, but i got a little problem. I want to make it possible to make my head unit do a boot sound (PowerOn.ogg). I've been reading how to change this sound and it worked great on my phone (LG G2), but when I'm trying to do it on my head unit nothing have changed.. Just like stock, 1. Malaysk logo 2:Choosen animation (BMW). I used Root Explorer, System-Media-Audio-Ui and pasted my custom PowerOn.ogg file. Just to mention, there was no PowerOn nor PowerOff files before. There is some other .ogg files but not these 2 files.. So my questions is= Is it possible to make it work? If yes, how? Thank u very much for your help so far!
Anyone? Noby can help with this or?
I'm trying to do the same thing. I was able to do it to my s6 but not for my in dash
Shouldn't it be possible, to set up a command with "Tasker"? The command will execute on startup and play the sound file. But I don't have an idea for playing a sound file when the device is shutting down...

.. Well the tasker thing is not working.. I've been trying to play around with tasker, without success..
