Hi guys,
I've been playing around with my SPV M2000 for a few days now (great phone!), but one thing is still puzzling me. Is there anyway for me to mute the ringer when I receive a call?
I know I can just reject it, but that sends people to voicemail instantly, so they know I've rejected it... I just want to be able to mute it, but have it ring on until it automatically hits voicemail (similar to the "Silent" function on the P900/P910).
Anyone know if there's a shortcut that will do this for me, or possibly a 3rd party plugin?
Thanks in advance,
Chris
He he, i wonderdt about that also when i got my BA, and i realised today that you just have to move the sound control slider on the side down, thats it
LOL... I can't believe it was that easy, thank you so much.
Ha ha, me neither.
I also had a P900, so it just diddent occur to me to use the sound slider for this.
No, no way. Either there must be an option on screen, or using simillar as #3 on the P900
Man these forums are the best ! In the past 24 hours I've found solutions to at least 3 problems (Smart Dialing, SMSes not being sent, and the silence call) that have been driving me crazy for the past month & couldn't find any clue on in the i-mate forums for my PDA2k. It really shows you how poor the manuals for these things are !
Thanks alot !
Hello People,
General question for the desire and other relevant phones. I was previously using a n95 and was able to record the 2 way call using the stock recorder.
I have a desire running leedriod 1.9 and cannot record both sides of the convo. you can hear the convo faintly but thats because its being picked up over the mic and not internally.
I have also noticed when playing soundboards the person on the phone is not able to hear soundboard sounds... rather pointless to have them i know!
anyone shed any light on this ?
nice one!
Hello? Anyone?
Hi,
I've been using a DESIRE HD for a long time , suddenly an issue has cropped up
1) My phone automatically uses the speaker when i receive or make a call !
Any Idea why is this happening?
i had the same issue for the last few weeks. i couldn't find a fix so ive just got into a habit of hitting speaker as soon as i make or recieve a call (to turn it OFF speakerphone) But...
the issue has now developed! one i make/recieve a call, and turn off speaker, the speaker continues to flick on and off throughout my call, mainly as it moves, depends on the tilt of the phone during the call. its like an overly sensitive exaggeration of the "flip for speaker" feature, as it happens when its vertical. thing is, ive turned this feature on and off many times to try and resolve it, but it still happens!
has anyone got any ideas that might help???
thanx
Hi, guys...
I started learning about rooting android phones from here.....amazing forum.
Anyway!
The problem I'm having is terrible audio distorsion(think of 8bit sound from the NES days) when making calls. Once every 6-7 calls are fine, but the rest of them are terrible. I have to note that this applies to sound coming out of either the earpiece OR through earphones.
When using Viber, things are fine. The same goes for Skype.
I read somewhere on this forum that the source of the problem is the satellite signal being too loud...lowering the device's volume does not solve the issue, of course.
Any tips on how one might solve this?
Thank you in advance!
U mean it happens one every 6 or 7 calls? Or vice versa?
Cos I have this distortion like at least one or twice every 6 to 7 calls,it only happens on cellular calls, nothing removes it but hanging up and re dialing
My friend's note 2 (exact same as mine) has this same problem, it's frustrating after a while.
If anyone knows anything more on this let us know please.
Thx

The thing stopped happening for now. Yay!
But it worked once every 6-7 calls. I had terrible distortion the rest of the time.
I'm still curious to have a solution for this...
It started happening again, on and off...and I notice it happening only when calling some people...
Hello xda,
Any time I receive a text or mail the notification sound starts low but quickly ramps up in volume. Is anyone experiencing this as well? Is there a way to set this so it's loud from the start? Hope that makes sense.
I appreciate your help and time
I noticed when the phone rings sounds only by the lower speaker, and sound very low and muffled.

Do you have pocket mode enabled under the sound settings?

Turning off "Pocket Mode" did make a "slight" improvement, but not much. Thanks for the tip though. :good:

Many others (including myself) have noticed and posted about this issue here (though not enough in my opinion). It's not restricted to notifications and ringtones either, it happens with *all* sounds on the phone.
Unfortunately, there is no way to fix it. Different sound drivers, updated firmware, build.prop settings... Nothing seems to get rid of this "speaker protection" crap. I am still hopeful to someday see a mod or firmware update that addresses it though, because after trying all those different things, I've run out of ideas.

I've also noticed that, it sounds fine when I preview notifications and ringtones, but when the phone actually rings it is a lot more quiet and muted. It does appear that the top speaker is not being used for ringtones. I'll try to call htc, let's see what they say.
Called HTC, spoke with a girl who sounded like she was following some sort of flowchart. Needless to say she couldn't help and concluded that it was a defective hardware. I tried to explain that others are having the same issue and it appears to be a bug, but I don't think she understood. They are sending me a new phone. I'm sure the new phone will have the same issue. Maybe if more people call HTC with this issue, they will figure it out.

Hi there
the same problem here, without any mod, crack o root solution. But the difference were the answer from HTC technical support: " this is a technical and engineering design, it´s not a bug", this mean: " f**** you costumer, and again, a new dissapoint from HTC. I has tried in several forums, here in XDA and another ones: nothing for to do, i loose my faith in the HTC 10. It´s very frustating because a little detail ( the ringtone volume and quality) destroy a overall experience

OH, so they know about it? This is a technical and engineering design fu**-up. My notifications are half the volume of the M8. If that is their answer, then I will probably return my phone.
Any solutions yet?
On mine it rings from the bottom speaker for about 3 rings, quiet, then ramps up and uses the top speaker too. With V4a on now once the top speaker kicks in it's very loud. It gives me a chance to answer it before it blasts me out.
I just bought a new htc 10 and quickly noticed this annoying sound fading in issue, searched online and this seems to be the only place talked about it with no solution, does everybody else really okay with this??
I guess at least it sounded fine when using headphone, but with this speaker fading crap everything sound like its echoing right now. This NEEDS to get solved.
Any solution ?
I came here to search for any ways to turn this "feature" off (and that's what it is, despite how nobody asked for it or wanted it). Looks like nobody has found any solutions. But here's my theory anyway:
The "fading in" volume effect must be a function of the Boom Sound software. It's a noise gate. And it sucks. For instance, try listening to any music that has any hard hits around any silence (a good example is "Brain Stew" by Green Day). It's really annoying.
I wish somebody could figure out how to disable the Boom Sound software altogether.
According to Google, https://www.google.com/search?newwi...0i22i30k1j33i22i29i30k1j33i21k1.0.leWX0kmgR6I it's a known Feature of Android 5, and many people complain about it, but there is no way to disable it.
Some people can workaround the issue, on some rom, with some apps or players; there is no universal solution.
In the best case, some chat app will not bell if they are already full screen; and this is an issue for me because if I have my phone plugged, and display timeout is 1h, then, it won't bell for incoming messages, and if I am >1m from it, I won't know people are talking to me. That's why I try to always make all apps always bell. But, if I am listening to music, the permanent bell that comes with intense chat may turn the music off all the time.
I not sure if I shall downgrade my phone to Android 4, 2.2, or 1.8 ...
.. arg, I am stupid, those versions have never been ported for my most recent phone.
