[Q] HBOOT downgrade 0.80 to .075

Hi guys. Need help with a HBOOT downgrade. I have used the search function and haven't found a solution that has worked for me. After 5 hours of searching I need a bit of help please.
I am trying to downgrade my HBOOT from 0.80 to 0.75 so I can flash an original Telstra rom to my phone. I get error 140 during the update. I have been trying this guide here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821809&highlight=downgrade+hboot
But I cant start and ADB shell. I have navigated to the directory in CMD prompt but it doesn't work, its not recognized. There is no adb shell exe or similar in the tools folder either.
What am I doing wrong? Or is there an easier way to do this? Thanks
Edit never mind.. Decided to check the HTC website for an ROM update and there is a 2.2 stock ROM on there that has flashed without issue. Wish I thought of that first..
Comment deleted - issue resolved.

[Q] do i need to downgrade to root?

Hi guys, newbie here, do i need to downgrade firmware 1.37.771.3? most of the other articles state if its 1.72 or above. i was having trouble with adb and pushing psneuter so i thought id ask the question before spending hours trying to sort it. thanks.
You don't need to downgrade if your DHD has 1.3xxx base.
Thanks for the reply, just about to give up until i saw that. couldnt make a goldcard, glad i didnt need one in the end. i am now running cyanogen 7. yay.

Downgrading my Z

My desire Z is currently running android 2.2.1.
The downgrade tutorials i have found are from 1.74 to 1.34.
How do i get my phone to 1.74 so i can downgrade to 1.34?
Thanks
which version number are you currently running.
2.2.1 is the android version(a version of froyo)
the 1.74.xxx is the firmware number made by HTC and some may be 2.2.1 and have 1.74.xxx or like me have 1.84.xxx
since you are 2.2.1 you will most likely have to downgrade to a 1.34.xx rom
depending on your carrier you will need a RUU from them, example i have a bell Desire z so i would need a bell RUU. This can be found in one of the stickies near the end, i think its the sticky for roms and everything under development.
Extract the rom.zip from it as stated in the 1.74 to 1.34 downgrade guide. rename to "PC10IMG.zip" place this on the root of your sd card.
Get AMT(advance multi tools) [REMEMBER TO THANKS HIM HE IS AWESOME FOR MAKING THIS APP ] from the developer section and run the downgrade option. Reboot into your bootloader and apply the update voila ur downgraded now you can root or whatever you like.
WARNING: This worked for me i'm a Bell desire z user so it may differ for you and i take no responsibility if you follow this and mess up.
It worked for me so it may work for you if anyone sees a problem with this people speak up.

How do i check which firmware i am running?

Under settings> about phone is software information or something of the sort it will say 1.34.xxx, 1.74.xxx, or 1.84.xxx that is the firmware version. If its 1.34.xx you do not need to downgrade.
Also i ment 1.34.xxx RUU so you may extract the Rom.zip from it
How do i find out what my carrier is?
Your carrier is where you got your phone from such as bell, or t-mobile(G2), or other DZ sellers in europe (i do not know who sells them there)
if you got yours from tmobile the RUU from the guide u posted the link to is good. (follow that guides step 7 to extract the rom.zip from the RUU regardless of which RUU it is)

Did you rename the rom.zip file to PC10IMG.zip, is it already a zip file and you added .zip with the .zip extension automatically hidden by your computer (some computers automatically hide file extensions so really your files name is "PC10IMG.zip.zip" in which case delete the .zip you added. Is your CID one of the ones in that thread at the beginning if not its easier to follow the guide i posted above. Finally is the PC10IMG.zip file on the root directory of your sd card.

In my software info, this is exactly what it says:
Android Version
2.2.1
...
Build Number
1.72.405.2.......
Software Number
1.72.405.2
I bought the phone from ebay, and the seller said it was from carphone warehouse...so what carrier would that be?
My CID is one of the ones listed.
i put the PC10IMG.zip in the home directory of the sd card. should i have put it in one of the folders? if my phone is not the tmobile one, should i find a different file? (RUU?) ie..the file PC10IMG.zip that i have is incorrect?
thanks a lot mate. the problem was the .zip.zip thing. im so annoyed. ive been stuck all weekend lol. thanks
^ lol ya i have seen that happen to alooooot of my friends that is why i have been starting to recommend people checking that out XD i really dislike it when windows tries making things more user friendly but takes away vital information for users who know what they are doing.... they should have a better setup asking what you want hidden and such ughhh.....
What about if the software number is 1.82.xxx.x?
Can I still use the following guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261
I tried before but it failed not sure if I did anything wrong or the method is just not compatible for my version.
Can anyone advise me on this?

you just have to download the original Image from the thread insted of using your own.
and you have to check that you got no error when typing /data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.33.405.5
i did the tut again and it worked for me ;D

[Q] Telus Desire HD (Canada) not downgrading (Tried Everything)

Hi there, I need help doing this as ive tried everything... Ive got to the point where i go into hboot to load the image in the ZIP but it keeps saying wrong image / cant find image ect.... Ive created 2 gold cards and no cid issues i believe.... my build is 1.84.661.1 c1325797
ker " 2.6.32.21-gb291666 htc-kernel and18-2 #1
Android 2.2.1
base 12.35d.60.140fu_26.06.03.24_m2
Please help as im on day 3!!!
Matt
you know with that build, you can use gingerbreak v1.2 to perm root. you dont really have to downgrade.... then you can use the tools to radio & eng s-off
also, if you are trying to downgrade, where and or what are you putting onto your goldcard? If there's a PD98IMG.zip in the ROOT sd directory, the bootloader will try loading it up. just saying
According to:
[TOOL][VIDEO] One click Radio S-OFF, SimUnlock (Easy Root & S-OFF Guide)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
you need to downgrade if you are on 1.72.405.3 or higher build, or new radio (12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M is ok). Downgrade first!!
I read this gb method is a little more rishy and "AGAIN, THIS DOES NOT WORK ON S-ON DEVICES" . are you sure it will work on a telus Canadian version?
also, i am putting PD98IMG.zip on the sd's root directory and hboot is just not finding it...
anyone???

the fre3vo script may not work, if it doesnt, message me and i'll send you a link to an earlier version of the toolkit with gingerbreak in it
I Used JSLEnterprises suggestion around a month ago, I was on the same build as you & it did work, it actually did everything for you.... follow the instructions carefully & if your on telus... to make the audio better & fix the tinny sound, Search for the (cm7-inspire-audiofix-r1.zip) and flash after installing whichever rom u choose.

[Q] Best Way to Root G2 Gingerbread 2.3.4

I've been trying to root this G2 I recently got and I'm kind of stuck. It's competely stock running 2.3.4 Android. I was wondering what is the best way to root it,get the Security off etc etc. I've tried many of the ways listed but none help me.
Do I really need to downgrade etc? I've used ADB to root the MyTouch Slide 3G and the Nexus S 4G, Could someone help point me in a better direction I think I might be reading something wrong or looking at the wrong threads.

The safest way to root is by using the guide in the wiki: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD

Yup you do need to downgrade, as currently you can only temp-root OTA GB. It unroots when you reboot your phone, and that's why the downgrading starts at temp root. Downgrade to 2.1, where a perm root is available, then flash a PRE-rooted GB if stock GB is important to you
Thanks guys. I had another question, They say look for the INFOCID, Where do I find that at? Because they don't really show a picture of it or explain how exactly to get it? Or do I not neeed to do that since I'm using a T-Mobile G2?
I remember seeing it when rooting. One of the rooting steps would print out lots of text on your command prompt. Just scroll around and you'll find it.
Found it :
Code:
cd C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem boot
Just scroll through the output and you'll find it

You shouldn't need to know the cid seeing as all G2's have the same cid. (TMOB_010 or something like that for anyone wondering)

I was just asking as they are asking about a Goldcard method and I was trying to figure out if I needed to follow that or not. This whole down-grading method is slightly confusing for me. Would you guys be able to help me locate a video showing someone doing it?
A goldcard is needed. Process goes goldcard, temp root, downgrade, perm root then flashing a new ROM. Just follow the guides and you'll be fine don't worry

Thanks for the help lolz. That might be why I can't do anything. I generally just browsed over anything Goldcard, Cause all my other Androids used just ADB to push the files or I just had to flash stuff ah
Haha alright. If you still need help I might make a video this weekend as a guide.

um no, G2's do not need goldcards.
G2's are only available from T-Mobile and thus all have the same cid.
A Goldcard is only neccesary if you are trying to flash an official PC10IMG that doesn't match the cid.

Did not know that, as I'm using a Desire Z~

You can actually just copy paste the commands. To paste in command prompt just right click ans paste.

Thanks for that, I feel dumb now ah wish I would of known you could copy and paste. It's all working now. I'm guessing after I downgrade the 2.3.4 I can officially follow one of the other threads listed and root and start installing roms + Clockwork Recovery?
Best way is to follow the official guide in the wiki here
And stay well away from Visionary.

All right thanks. I think this is going to be my last question hopefully. I need to just follow all the steps after the Downgrading they talk about correct? I'm not trying to risk bricking this phone cause then I'm phoneless til I can get some spare cash -.-
