It dosent have as many cool transition animations as GO launcher. But imo it's the fastest launcher out there. The paid version has some great widgets too

I must be a complete noob. But i've been trying to figure out how to use this program, but i don't know how to turn it on? Not listed under widget or apps or... how in the world do i try this out??!
You won't want to use it unless you are rooted and remove HTC Sense.

Not exactly...the new update blocks you from using other launchers.
If you don't have the update it'll work without root and you don't need to remove sense.
On the other hand, if you have the update you will need to root your phone first.

That is because it is not technically an app, at least not the type that you are accustomed to using. Do this to get it to work.
1. Go to Settings ---> Applications ---> Manage Applications
2. After the list loads scroll down to HTC Sense, tap "Clear Defaults" and "Force Stop"
Touch the home button and it should give you an option on which launcher you would like to load.
Hope this helps!

Already rooted and running fresh. And apparently this came with the most recent fresh update, but had no idea out to try it out! So thanks! This is exactly what i needed.
disabling sense and using the stock launcher was the only way to get my computer to see my phone. i tried launcher pro but my comp will not see my phone now, very very frustrating.

Really?
I've been in root land so I haven't used it and I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't BLOCK other launchers, I think it just doesn't include the 2.1 AOSP launcher "Launcher 2."
As far as the system cares, your home screen is just an app like a browser or music app, it is just a matter of disabling which one is set as default. This can be done in the applications menu via the method described above, or you may find the application "Home Switcher" useful if you like to try out different home screen launchers?
I certainly could be wrong, but I would be surprised if they blocked the ability to turn off sense as the default.
You do not need to be rooted to use either ADW.Launcher nor LauncherPro.
I highly doubt the launcher is causing your computer to not see the device.

Why? What does rooting, or removing Sense, have to do with using an alternative launcher? Take your time, be specific.

No, the new OTA removes the stock Launcher2. It doesn't block anything.

Wrong. You can either use the Force Close trick to get Sense to close, or you can just grab Home Switcher from the Market and use that to close Sense.

I doubt it either, but wit the stock launcher as default my comp saw my phone n that was the only way, wouldnt work wit sense. Wit the new update, they removed the launcher so i tried launcher pro as default n it didnt work. But the weird thing is that my computer at work sees my phone wit no problem, so it must be something within my comp that i cant seem to figure out. n my comp is fully updated n drivers are all up to date so its weird.
I just loaded launcher pro last night. Took me a while to figure it out too as it is NOT in the apps and there are NO instructions.
Is it just me...or is there some conspiracy in Android land to NEVER HAVE ANY INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!!!!
grrrr
Anyway...somehow one time I tapped the home button on phone and it popped up with a window that asked which one I wanted to use. No idea how I got it, but there it was. It had stock android, launcher, and sense listed. (I am still pre-ota). I have played around with all three.
However...honestly...I found launcher to be a complete slow tortoise! Seriously. Everyone hatin on Sense and Launcher was the slowest thing I have ever seen. And I hadn't even added any apps to it. Not sure I like it at all.
Only cool bit is the home screen rotation...which is what I was looking for. I should go leave comments on this....
LauncherPro is a speed demon and is great to use (been doing so since I found out about it).
I have no idea why it would be slow for you at all.
Cuz he has sense still running I would think

Be sure to clean slate your HTC Sense Launcher. I am running EVOlution V9 now, so can't remember exactly where the option is; but it's there somewhere. I installed Launcher Pro on my Stock ROM yesterday before rooting and loved it. Everything worked great once I deleted everything off of my HTC Sense Launcher and set Launcher Pro to default. Running it on Froyo now as well.

You think? I heard so many great things about it, but it is nasty slow on my machine. So if I choose it from that pop up window...then you think sense is still trying to run but with that launcher??
So...how is this done? You have to actually get rid of sense or can you turn it off without root?
(ps...i do plan to root, but not until i make a decision in my 30 day period...yes, i have commitment issues!)

Open Sense again. I think if you hit menu, something like "Scenes" or similar will appear. Select that and select "Clean Slate." That should clear your Sense homescreen.
Then try Launcher Pro again.
So everytime my battery dies or i need to restart my fone all my apps jumble about after spending all my time putting them in order, what i want todo well what i want to know is there anyway of locking these little s**ts into place so when i turn my fone back on i dont need to spend all my time re-arranging my menus.

It's not you, it's the stock launcher it's crap. You could always try a diffrent launcher, I think Go Launcher lets you customise app placement on the applist, but i'm not sure
It's because some of the apps from sd card loads up later when booting up.. don't think there's any solutions unless you put them into internal memory

I actually prefer the stock launcher to the others ( i've tried launcher pro,go launcher and adw) ... But yea the sd card apps being removed is annoying - it happens osmetimes when i connect my phone to the comp ... ended up just putting the small files i need onto dropbox.
I tried the go launcher but its not really my sorta thing it only happens to me when my batt dies which isnt that often, i suppose ill just have to bare with it an maybe there will be a save option eventually so knowone has to deal with it.

I second that. With other phones I have always relied on GO launcher, LPP, SPB Shell or whatever.
Now when I bought my first Xperia I found to my surprise that I love the stock launcher! It looks good and is very smooth so I have found no reason to switch launcher. Has all the functions I need without being bloated like GO launcher for example.
Props to SE for keeping the launcher simple and fast.
Hi
I use Sense Roms, because i like the mail app, sms app, dialer etc... but I don't want Rosie... so i use GO Launcher as launcher, but it keeps getting fc's.
Anyone knows how to prevent this?
thx
btw. I'm now using seb's AIO v4.0 but I don't think it's rom related...
does anyone else suffer from the same problem, or is it in the end an invidual problem affected by my settings?
what your experiences with other launchers? Do they never fc in a Sense Rom?

I have tried a few launcher apps in the beginning, never had FCs actually. Try to wipe app data or reinstall app. When you first start the new launcher do not forget to tick 'use this as default' option.
Hope this helps.

i do the same thing, but with leedroid HD rom.
i actually delete rosie.apk and launcher2.apk from the system after Go launcher is installed (easy if you're S-OFF), no problems so far
you can always nandroid and try for yourself.
yh i had the same problem with go launcher, the reason is go launcher takes up a lot of ram space, which means it doesn't have enough room work so it F/C.
try Regina 3D launcher, its much smother and its also free

thanks for your answers and tips
I will delete rosie and eventually try regina 3d
the fact is, i really love GO Launcher, because it has the option to swype or touch on the application at the dock
I tried lot's of CM10 or 10.1 roms which I have a same problem, when I open Drawer, sometimes it will crash and go back to home screen, it looks like the trebuchet crashed and if I get into drawer again, it spend a long time with a loading cycle.
Have you guys met a same problem?
I have never had that problem, have you tried clearing data on trebuchet and see if it gets reproduced (you will lose all widgets and shortcuts on homescreen)?
Seems like launcher is being killed in low RAM condition

Tried your method but stillnot solved.
lock -->unlock-->click drawer-->roll right or left-->crash
approx. 20% times. not all the time.
Factory reset? Use another launcher?

So I have got here a brand new LG G3 with hardly any apps installed. Even then, the default LG Home UI lags terribly. It keeps on redrawing and refreshing itself every time I exit an app and enter the homescreen. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks!

Can't say I have. I am honestly just terrified at the sheer scale of the lag out of the box. Could kindly point me to some useful lagfixes? Thanks buddy!

Don't panic , try to make a quick factory reset for your device it should solve the problem , if not and you don't want to waste more time by sending it back to the warranty , u can flash a new stock rom using either tot file or kdz , u can find both of the ways in one thread here .
keep us updated
I was about to complain about the same. I think 2gb/ 16 gb version have this launcher redrawing thing. But totally unprofessional approach for ui and launcher ram management. This is happening since d85520a what a shame.
Or, simply install Nova Launcher and have a quicker launcher with way more options as well. Win - win.
And yes, most if not all LG widgets will not work
cough LG cough. it's their launcher, don't stress about lag sir.
i'd also recommend nova launcher. :good:
