downgrade back to 2.5.x.x. only some ROMs support the new FS for 3.0.0.5
How do I downgrade?
Nevermind I'm a [email protected]$$ thanks
Nandroid
Anyone else having issues creating a nandroid backup? It freezes every single time. Going back to older version and trying again.
I am having some problems with 3.0.0.5 also and would like to downgrade but when I select an older version from "All ClockworkMod Recoveries" in ROM Manager I get "An error occured while flashing your recovery."?
I have downloaded an older version in the format of "recovery.img" if someone could tell me how to flash it properly?

Did you try downgrading to 2.5.1.2? That's what worked for me
Yeah, that's how I get the error message. Funny thing is that isn't the version I had before...It was like 2.5.0.7? And that is what I have downloaded on my pc in the form of recovery.img....just not sure on how to flash it if anyone might have a link to instructions that I wasn't able to find?
Not sure if this makes sense, but I too blindly accepted the update for CWM, and had difficulty. tried downgrading to oder version, but kept getting errors, then I couldnt even restore any backups I had made previously and everything was force closing on me.
Ended up being able to restore a desire Z rom backup I had made and then able to downgrade versions successfully. Otherwise I was stuck.
As far as flashing the recovery, no input.
So....I just used unrevoked and loaded custom recovery (being the 2.5.0.7) I had downloaded and .....It worked with out any other problems. Except for that rom manager says I still have the newer clockwork loaded in version info at top? Which means it will probably not prompt me to update.
I downgraded to 2.5.1.2 & I am running Inc rom 1.2 and everything runs great
I've tried all sorts of things to get the new CWM to work, but every time I try to do a backup it freezes when backing up System/irssi.
Same for everyone else? If so, maybe this has something to do with the problem?
Anyone having problems where backups freeze while generating the md5 sum? Seems like it does this about every other backup.
also downgraded to 2.5.1.2... running chingys rom and everythings runs perfect.
Maybe you think im just too stupid or whatever, but im not i know how to root, to debrand, to wipe and so on. Im using a PVT4 desire which was vodafone branded (2.33.161...) with hboot 0.93. I downgraded and rooted it sucessfully and have (2.29.405.5) everything works fine. If i want to flash any custom rom, sense or sense hd (using amonra 2.0.0) ..everything works until standby ..on nearly each standby the phone freezes or hangs up or whatever ..the only thing that helps , is pulling out the battery and insert it again. So not any custom rom works for me and i hate it. i love the htc sense on hd roms and i really like some themes, but i cant really use it please anybody could try to help me why this happens. i really did nothin wrong for partition i used gparted like described mostly and in the end i set my phone s off (cuz i thaught this maybe would help) of course sucessfully. i tried diffrent ext partitions, i tried another battery, i tried another sdcard, i stopped the automatic email refresh ...,i tried app2sd+ and data2sd, i actually did nothin and let the rom the way it was ...but again it freezes on standby (not the first, not every, but the most of a day) ... my boyfriend has the same phone, also with pvt4 ...and for him everything works great without any issues. so please anybody help to fix this or at first find out why that happens

Have you tried flashing a ROM using CWM recovery?
No i didnt. Could that be the reason for this problem ? I used amonra because cwm could not flash zip files as far as i know ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
i had a similar problem with my g/f's phone, had been rooted for 6 months, had several custom roms, ( though she only likes sense roms ) i did an update, and it just kept freezing, so i tried several other sense roms, and they all kept freezing, no matter how many full wipes i did, they would just freeze.
so i installed a stock android rom, then from the stock android rom, flashed the sense rom, it worked after that, i duno why it did, i just know it worked for me, duno if it helps but might be worth a try.
Also i use CWM too.

i dont really understand that stock rom part ...at downgrading i used the pb99img (2.29.405.5) from shipped .like it was told on some german site cuz i normally got an radio_V2 fail pu at the image loading on hboot ...with that there were no failures..so i guess this is my "base" that i rooted and with that i did everything else.. do u mean i should install a custom stock rom !? or maybe give me an example please

CWM flashes zip files with no problem. Just use an older version like 2.5.1.8 or something.

nope, it definitely won't work. if you wanna try cwm, v2.5.0.7 is the best and most rock solid. is your phone s-offed?
Yes i have s off ..the easiest way to get clockwork in my opinion is using s off again and install it (can i do this or does that some damage to my phone ?) I read that v2.5.1.8 is suporting pvt4 desires. So i guess thats the best ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
oops my bad. didn't notice the pvt4 part. you can just download the android sdk and use the fastboot command or you can use android flasher which has a simple straight forward gui.
could i also use unrevoked !? and use instead the ra desire 2.0.0 img the cwm img !? i like using things i already know instead of new stuff ..and im not so good at fastboot commands ...and i cant find the cwm 2.5.1.8 from alpharev

flashing with unrevoked can screw up your superuser app. ra 2.0.0 doesn't backup the whole ext partition only app if i recall correctly. i'm not sure if ra supports pvt4. couldn't find any mention of it in the thread's first post.
the alpharev cwm is here

yes u can flash it with unrevoked. just mentioning that it screws up your superuser app.
after searching the whole time ..the alpharev version ..i finally saw that u already posted
using unrevoked worked fine dont care about superuser dont have it atm... trying an custom rom now ...hope my issue will have an end
Just my 2 cents... AFAIK for PVT4 desires AmonRA is recommended, cause CWM has issues. At least that's what I read about PVT4 (earsize 40000).
Hi guys, i only got my desire yesterday (bye bye cliq/dext at last) and can confirm what nagypapi is saying as i have a uk desire pvt-4 with 40000 errorsize and CWM definately doesn't work, i had a small problem where unrevoked 3.32 wouldn't properly install amonRA or CWM, in the end i had to use unrevoked 3.21 and i'm now running ReflexTSenseHD 1.8 Sense DHD 2.2 FRF91 A2SD+ OC'd to 1113Mhz. Have tried flashing a lot of the roms available and not all of them seem to work for me. CyanogenMOD7 and Oxygen v2.0 RC7 get to the setup screen and then go into an endless bootloop, whilst DeFroST 6.1a, RCMixHD v3.0 and Amethyst RC7 won't load past the htc splash screen. I have H BOOT S-ON still as i'm not entirely confident at attempting the AlphaRev 1.8 method just yet, could this be the cause?
Thanks in advance for any replies, kingears
Hi
I'm trying to flash a gingerbread rom to my desire but I always end up being stuck on the HTC logo. I tried several ROMS( opendesire, modaco with sense and without, some more too but can't remember the names,... ) The only gingerbread ROM that installs is CM7, but i have market problems that annoy the hell out of me ( can't find certain apps, need to hack to install bigger apps ). A shame because i really like CM, but i want to compare with others
Any idea why gingerbread won't flash correctly. I have tried several froyo ROMS without any issues before, by the way
I have
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
RADIO-5.14.05.17
thx
ntdst
Did you remember to wipe your data between each different install?
That's the most common problem when you get stuck at boot.
i use rom-manager and always create a back-up and wipe.
I also tried with an empty SD-Card and repartioned it ( with rom-manager ). The results are always the same, every gingerbread rom gets stuck. I thought there was something wrong with the partitions or maybe i need s-off for gingerbread... ?
What version of CWM do you have? Did you update manually to the new radio for the GB Roms?

Okay, Rom Manager Is not a recovery What's your recovery exactly?
And what ROMs do you try to flash?
AFAIK, you need to flash that first in order to get booted.
sorry clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 is current recovery
I really tried several ROMS
Modaco sense gingerbread
Modaco without sense
opendesire
oxygen
etc...
all and always stuck on HTC Logo except for CM7, that one works fine except for the market issues

I found this in one of the ROM threads.
So my suggestion:
First try to update the radio to the newest (alredy posted the link).
If that does not help, then try to update your recovery.
updating radio and flashing updates did not help
i'm still stuck when trying to install oxygen
I could use some help in updating my recovery. I f i do this with rom manager 2.5.0.7 is the most recent.
I seems there's a 2.5.1.2 out and 3.x.x.x is not advised. Is there an update zip somewhere to use?
People report that Insertcoin S v22 can be installed with 2.5.0.7
Make sure you do a full wipe in THE RECOVERY, not ROM Manager or any program.
Too boot into recovery hold down Power+Vol Down while phone is off.
There:
1. Wipe data/factory reset
2. Wipe cahce
3. Under advanced menu > Wipe dalvik-cache
Also make sure your SD card is partitioned right.
And for the update - you can only update your recovery if you are S-OFF or you use Unrevoked3 with a custom recovery image.
Grab a copy of Ubuntu and check that the apps2sd partition on your card is formatted correctly. I tried all ways of formatting and partitioning (via clockwork/rom manager) and it never formatted correctly and always caused HTC boot sticking.
If I completely reformatted SD and reflashed an older rom (like Leedroid 2.3) would then boot fine. I then used Rom Manager to repartition & format SD, boot ubuntu (live CD is enough - no install required) then reformatted partition to EXT4, flashed and worked fine.
Also, is 2.5.0.7 your TRUE recovery version? Turn your phone on with vol-down held then select recovery - does the version change to an older one? If this is the case you may need to re-root is (Unrevoked) to update your recovery version permanantly.
Hope that helps.
If you are S-off you can flash newest recovery using fastboot, this flash would be permanent!
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.8-bravo.img
i agree with TMSsecret,
the gingerbread ROMs i have used seem to need a more recent version of HBOOT. First time I tried to flash LeeDroid 3.0.2, it didnt work. Applied S-OFF (which updates your HBOOT during the process) and tried again, worked no worries. Also, if you're keen to install the latest ROMs, upgrade to clockworkmod recovery 3.x... It took me a few tries to get FASTBOOT working properly (possibly because my version of windows XP has had too long to decompose), but if you persevere, it will work.
The best way to make sure your ROM will work is a thorough research session. Not slagging you at all, just pointing out the obvious. Look up everything to do with your intended ROM and read the threads.
I've been searching for a solution before writing my own post, for I'm aware there are probably many, many topics of people dealing with the same issue.
Well, here's is my problem.
I've got two wildfires A3333. Flashed CM 7.2.0 on both of them, successfully. GPS does work on only one of them. I've tried the GPS test on the other one. The compass is working, the localization is not.
So, as said before, I've googled for some solution for the other one, and here comes the temporary downgrading of CWM to 2.5.0.7 and then installing one of the following: buzz.radio-3.35.15.31-signed.zip, buzz.radio-3.35.20.10-signed.zip or buzz.radio-3.35.19.25-signed.zip that will be put on the SD.
Ok, everything is set up, let's reboot to recovery.
Now, the recovery screen is showing version 3.0.0.6 and I don't know if that's normal, since I've set it to 2.5.0.7 before rebooting. Won't mind for now.
Let's flash the zips. And all I get is this message, with all of the radios:
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Uhm, let's try by setting the option toggle signature verification to disabled.
Here's a different message:
Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported. Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5. It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the Clockworkmod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery.
Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
Installation aborted.
It seems that the 3.0.0.6 version shown on the main menu is kind of relevant... Should it show 2.5.0.7 instead of that? What now?
Thanks in advance.
After flashing the temporary CWM,it'll automatically boot into that CWM version. Now flash the radio with that.
And if you reboot you'll return to the CWM version you had before.
To fix GPS you could also use this method,

Yes, if by "flashing the temporary CWM" you mean entering the ROM manager, tapping on All ClockwordMod Recoveries, download the 2.5.0.7 version, let it install and tap Reboot into recovery, well that's exactly what I did. And the recovery screen is showing me this 3.0.0.6 version anyway, which is kind of suspicious to me.
I've already read the topic you linked, some days ago, but that means having to wipe the CM 7.2.0 and reinstall it later and I'm not sure whether I can backup the apps that are in the EXT partition since I'm using Link2SD. And honestly, I'm not even sure I'm able to make a good backup.

I wouldn't really recommend using ROM Manager, and what I meant by flashing was to flash the CWM zip with your current Clockworkmod recovery.
And also consider upgrading your recovery.
And about the guide, just make a nandroid backup with CWM, and restore it instead of flashing a new rom.
Hope this helps
I shall give a try to it all and let you know.
One last question before I proceed. In order to upgrade my recovery I'd have to download the latest CWM available for Buzz and install it the same way I'll do with v2.5.0.7 (of course, after that step), am I right?
Thanks!
Ok, I've installed the v2.5.0.7 via the install from .zip option and got to install the radios. Woo!!
No, hold back.
Now the GPS icon is showing up but GPStest doesn't detect any activity.
I've installed 13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10 first, then 13.45.55.24H_3.35.15.31 and then 13.53.55.24H_3.35.19.25. Same result.
Now should I rely on plan B?
I've read of someone who got it working by installing the 3 radios in crescent order. Is it worth a try?

No, that'll only be temporary, as with 2.5.
Get the PC49IMG.zip file for that recovery, put it on the root of the SD, reboot to bootloader, it'll scan and will ask to install, select yes, you're done.
First GPS fix will take some time, maybe from 2-10 mins.
I've only flashed the .20.10 Radio. It worked for me...
Or if you have a sense rom or the backup of your stock rom, give the guide a try...

My fault, there's something I should make clear.
The radios I've been talking about before have been installed on the first Wildfire, the one I said the GPS was working (and in the meanwhile it proved to be untrue as I discovered the GPS icon has never showed up before flashing the radio). This one Wildfire has CWM 2.5.0.1, installed with Unrevoked. The second Wildfire (which I'd like to use as my usual phone) was rooted with PC49IMG as Unrevoked wouldn't work with it and is running CWM 3.0.0.6, which I've reported in the first post.
For now, let's discard the CWM 3.0.0.6 phone.
It is on the CWM 2.5.0.1 phone where I've temporarily installed 2.5.0.7 and flashed the radios. Could it be relevant?
(maybe I'd better update the CWM anyway)

Uhm, link is broken. My CWM 2.5.0.7 looks to be working properly anyway.
stick with 2.5.0.7 recovery and 20.10 radios, that worked for me using Navitel, as for file here.
Flashed Froyo 2.2.1 shipped ROM... and GPS didn't work on it either. Great.
I've restored my CM backup and found out all my link2SD linked apps to be screwed in return. Vanished. Link2SD says there's soooo much free space in that second partition... can't imagine when it's been formatted, but nevermind.

Not really sure if CWM matters or not, we use 2.5 to flash radios because the flashing script is different from currently used ones.
Ty upgrading anyway,
Are you sure it isn't a hardware fault. If GPS doesnt work in stock rom, it could possibly be a hardware issue...

Hi.
I have an issue with my Desire bravo. I can't install Evervolv's KK 4.4.
A year ago I used unrevoked3 to root my phone. It installed CWM 2.5.0.7. I had tried many 4.2.2 ROMs and than decided to stick with MildWild.
Now I want to try KK4.4 but I simply can't install it. CWM always writes: Status 0. Installation arborted.
I tried to update CWM through ROM manager but it won't update it. It writes that current version is 5.0.2.0, however when I boot into Recovery I can see that I have the same CWM.
Can somebody help me please?
Thanks.

Thanks.

I tried to flash it without success. Than I went to Hboot and it wrote that I had S-ON (that's strange). So I used Revolutionary to S-OFF my phone. It flashed CWM 4.0.1.4 and waw - everything works!

Lastly, uninstall ROM manager, it's bad for Desire. You don't need it.
As long as you only use CWM to install / wipe you'll be ok, do not use it to partition your sd card.
4EXT is generally a better recovery, and is also recommended for partitioning, you can install it using the 4EXT app or flash it through fastboot commands.
Now that you're S-OFF it's much more powerful (e.g. you can change hboot). You were wasting a lot of memory while S-ON with stock hboot and mildwild.

I have already flashed 4EXT.
What's the advantage of using custom hboots? I think that Evervolv's roms can be flashed only on stock hboot.
I have flashed Evervolv's nightly KK4.4. It seems to work OK (but I liked Jelly Bean's interface more).
Thank you guys.

custom hboots simply allow for more space, one of the primary reasons for gaining s-off and rooting in the first place
a custom hboot generally has a smaller /system and /cache and therefore more /data (internal memory)
depending on which mildwild rom, you only filled 100 to 130MB of the 250MB /system partition on stock hboot, which wastes max ~150MB. You could have used cm7r2 hboot or similar to nearly double the /data partition and hence more space for apps.
You're right though, now beside the point for ROMs like Evervolv which require stock hboot....
