Hi,
I downloaded and installed the HTC desire 2.3.3 update and being having some little issues etc and today I found another one. So I jumped on the internet, downloaded what I thought was the correct RUU rom for my phone, loaded it and now it just keeps coming up with a white screen and the HTC logo.
I have pressed volume down and the power button and get the screen to come up where I can select FASTBOOT etc (see the attached file)
so now I get to recovery mode but if I select that, the phone just boots to the same white screen with the HTC logo
You used revolutionary to root your phone. The new bootloader has an overwriting protection for ruu and ota. You have to flash bravo downgrader first before you can flash ruu.

I recently followed the unrevoked guide to root my phone and put on the clockworkmod custom recovery image (for slcd http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748618). Everything appeared to go smooth, unrevoked said it was a success, been using it for a few hours now and all of a sudden it wont boot sits at the htc screen, I also can't boot into recovery mode (shows a black line at the top of the screen then powers down). Its a brand new telus desire. Anyone know where i go from here to trouble shoot this/reset the device.
run unrevoked again.

Kind of related:
After running rom manager and asking it to reboot into recovery it no longer will. Stuck at HTC screen.
So it's safe to just re run unrevoked? Won't try and reroot my custom rom or anything?
What did you do to solve your problem? I have the same problem.
hi.
my device was working perfctly until one day it suddenly vibrated and the screen turned off. i tried turning it on but it vibrates and hangs on the htc green logo. then the only possible way to switch it off is to take the batry out. some times it works normaly but not more than 15-20 mins . i think i was upgrading to froyo and wifi went off. not sure if that is the reason or not. really need an expert advice.
thanks
you have to give phone informations. radio, hboot, branded-undranded etc.

Do you know if your phone has an AMOLED or SLCD screen?
Many phones with Hboot 0.83 and 0.92 are SLCD. Do you have the original box? if so, take a look on the back, and see if it mentions AMOLED for the Display under the specifications.
Tip: You will know if your phone is SLCD if it displays a black background in low light, at certain angles, and it will have a slight grey sheen to the screen. On an AMOLED screen it will remain the same black. If you purchased your phone before July 2010, then it will be AMOLED.
on the back of the box it says 3.7 inches amoled screen. is it a software issue or hardware?
it;s ok. if it is unbranded this http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe is the last 2.2 froyo official.
download it be aware that it is fully downloaded. put your phone in fastboot by turning it off and then press back button+power on.
After it finishes let it reboot(about 5 minutes) after that you can use unrevoked to obtain root and flash a custom recovery (i suggest AmonRa's). then if you want you can flash custom roms.
can we flash with this official rom even if our phone is s-on mode.if not how can we turn s-off the phone like this(which is not opening)

If the phone won't boot, download the ruu, extract zip from ruu, rename to PB99IMG.zip and then put on SD card. Boot into recovery and it should do its thing. Works regardless of s off or s on ( s off or on doesn't matter at all in ruus. Not related whatsoever.)

This is a step-by-step guide for Newbies..
One tiny bit of advice..
Though you bought the phone from a store, it is likely that it might be branded to HTC. Boot up your phone by holding the back key+Power button. You should do a "fastboot oem gencheckpt" command from the folder where fastboot.exe is installed. This will show your CID number, which can confirm whether branded or not. If you're absolutely sure that it's unbranded, proceed with the WWE RUU based Pb99img.zip
the problem is that on white menu there is no fastboot or boot section the only written thing is ruu

Do you have your original RUU file? Are you branded (if branded, you will need a Gold Card to proceed with the method suggested below) or unbranded?
You could try extracting the rom.zip from the RUU, and copy it to your Desktop, then rename the rom.zip to PB99IMG.zip. After renaming it, you mount your SD card and place it to the root of your SD card using a card reader or another phone that accepts micro sd cards, unmount your sd card and then turn off your phone. Finally, enter bootloader and let the phone run the PB99IMG file.
Also try getting into Fastboot by holding the back button whilst turning on the phone, it should work for you then.
Hi
HBOOT 0.80
Radio 5.14.05.17
I have my Desire for over a year and had it rooted with unrevoked and already used several custom ROMs. The current ROM is GingerVillain 1.1, which works beautifully.
I was able to boot into RECOVERY and flash without problems till today. But now when I boot into the RECOVERY in HBOOT (Power + Volume -) or the ROM-manager (if the ROM is launched):
First appears the HTC logo with white background, then the screen stays black forever. When I'm in this state and press the power button, I see the text "ClockworkMod Recovery v. 2.5.0.7", but not more. (I have not SLCD AMOLED)
When I removed the battery, I can start the phone again, and somehow it always starts at the HTC logo exactly twice, then booting up. The ROM is running as normal.
I have already installed the new ClockworkMod with the ROM-manager, which had brought nothing.
I hope someone of you a tip or an idea.
Thank you for your help.
Can anyone help me?
can anyone help me?
Try to reflash CWM using unrevoked again. You can only flash cutom recovery via fastboot if you are S-OFF.
If 2.5.0.7 is not working try a newer version on AmonRA.
I installed an updated version of a rom I use (Cryogen) on top of a previous version, rebooted phone and it boots into a black screen (first the white htc screen then black).
I can get into the bootloader screen and fastboot but recovery doesnt work (its just a white htc screen also).
What steps can I take to save my phone? Can I use bootloader to wipe the phone and install a fresh rom?
Thanks.
To be safe and get it working again you could pull the rom zip file from an RUU, rename it to PB99IMG.zip (or what ever name it is) and boot into bootloader. Yes you will have to root again but it is safer than messing around with your hboot and other things.
For the past few weeks I had been running ViperOne rom. I liked it very much and it was for the most part stable, but I decided to try out UnsenseOne-KitKat. I tried installing the zip file using TWRP, just as I had done with ViperOne but when I tried rebooting, my phone only went to the bootloader and wouldn't even try booting to system.
I had a problem similar to this before when I was trying to unlock and root my One, so I thought I was fix it the same way I did then. I downloaded the vzw m7 RUU from here and installed it using fastboot. The RUU installs just fine and everything in the command prompt says that it was successful. But when I try to boot my phone now, it hangs on the white htc splash screen.
It also hangs on the white htc splash screen when I try to enter recovery. I'm at a loss, and I am now thinking I may have gained a new paperweight today. Has this ever happened to anyone? Or does anyone know how to fix this?
If it helps, this is what I see on my bootloader:
relocked
m7_wlv pvt ship s-off rh
cid-vzw__001
hboot-1.44.0000
radio-1.12.41.1112_2
opendsp-v33.120.274.0913
emmc-boot
UPDATE: Okay, so I tried installing instead the 2.10.605.1 RUU (I had been using the 1.10 version before) and now instead of hanging at the white htc splash screen, it shows the slpash screen for a few seconds and then goes back to the bootloader saying "Active cmdline overflow! (1073 Bytes)" This is new... any ideas?
UPDATE2: I googled the Active cmdline overflow problem and saw that for some it worked to downgrade hboot to 1.44. I got the hboot zip from here. And now no more Active cmdline problem! YAY! Only now my phone is once again hanging on the white htc slpash screen.
UPDATE3: Haven't done anything else since the last update, but I did just notice that when I try to boot into recovery, I get a black screen with a picture of an phone with a red triangle on it. I get a similar screen when I try to boot into "Factory Reset" but instead of a red triangle there are two green arrows making a circle. Also when my phone is plugged in my phone now once again shows the charging animation (phone turned off). This was not the case before.

That sceeen is the stock recovery. Flash this in ruu mode. http://vzw1files.dyndns.org/RECOVERIES/twrp/Twrp_2.6.3.4_RUU_Mode.zip. That should get you twrp recovery. From there do a factory reset and then flash a rom, and see if it boots. If it does use firewater to unlock the bootloader again.

So I did what you suggested, and the .zip file flashed just fine, no errors, but I'm still stuck at the "Entering Recovery . . ." screen.
