I recently followed the unrevoked guide to root my phone and put on the clockworkmod custom recovery image (for slcd http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748618). Everything appeared to go smooth, unrevoked said it was a success, been using it for a few hours now and all of a sudden it wont boot sits at the htc screen, I also can't boot into recovery mode (shows a black line at the top of the screen then powers down). Its a brand new telus desire. Anyone know where i go from here to trouble shoot this/reset the device.
run unrevoked again.

Kind of related:
After running rom manager and asking it to reboot into recovery it no longer will. Stuck at HTC screen.
So it's safe to just re run unrevoked? Won't try and reroot my custom rom or anything?
What did you do to solve your problem? I have the same problem.

last thing I did was copy over a froyo rom to the sd card and try to install it using clockworks rom tools from the sd card, however that process just rebooted my phone. So i assume it didnt do anything.
Hi all, I've arranged to have my phone replaced because the trackpad has stopped working so I wanted to unroot the phone before I sent it back. I was on hboot 0.75 and CM6 rom before I tried to unroot. I flashed the RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122704.exe file from this forum hoping it would take me back to standard 2.1. When I boot the phone I get the white HTC screen for a while before it reboots and shows again for a while...a boot loop I guess. I can get back into hboot/fastboot but going to recovery gives a boot loop like a normal boot. I've since flashed the official froyo update using a goldcard and that seems to be doing the same thing.
Any help anyone can give me would be great...I've hit my limit on trying to fix it and I'm starting to get a bit worried!
Thanks
I rooted my Incredible a few months back using UnRevoked, and recently realized I left security on. I know my phone needs to be s-off in order to run the new SkyRaider (it keeps rebooting as is), but I seem to be having some trouble with it.
I'll run UnRevoked, and it gets to the part where it says "waiting for root (safe to restart if this fails)." At this point, my phone will be stuck on the white Incredible splash screen, where it will remain indefinitely. Restarting the application doesn't help since the phone isn't exactly on.
Should I have unrooted first, or what?

I ran into a similar issue. Are you using the most current UnRevoked flash tool?
When you say the "White Incredible Flash Screen", Do you mean the White Boot menu? That is where I was hung up. I just selected FASTBOOT & then the REBOOT and when my Incredible rebooted the UnRevoked tool finished doing it's thing.
I was actually talking about the HTC Incredible splash image. The white image that shows up before anything else, even before the HBOOT.
I was using the latest UnRevoked. My solution was to just unroot and re-root with s-off.
I have spent about 12 hours screwing around with that and experiments in trying to figure out how to remap Rosie. Most of that time, my phone has been useless. You know, one of those days.
Hi
HBOOT 0.80
Radio 5.14.05.17
I have my Desire for over a year and had it rooted with unrevoked and already used several custom ROMs. The current ROM is GingerVillain 1.1, which works beautifully.
I was able to boot into RECOVERY and flash without problems till today. But now when I boot into the RECOVERY in HBOOT (Power + Volume -) or the ROM-manager (if the ROM is launched):
First appears the HTC logo with white background, then the screen stays black forever. When I'm in this state and press the power button, I see the text "ClockworkMod Recovery v. 2.5.0.7", but not more. (I have not SLCD AMOLED)
When I removed the battery, I can start the phone again, and somehow it always starts at the HTC logo exactly twice, then booting up. The ROM is running as normal.
I have already installed the new ClockworkMod with the ROM-manager, which had brought nothing.
I hope someone of you a tip or an idea.
Thank you for your help.
Can anyone help me?
can anyone help me?
Try to reflash CWM using unrevoked again. You can only flash cutom recovery via fastboot if you are S-OFF.
If 2.5.0.7 is not working try a newer version on AmonRA.
Hi,
I rooted my phone about a year ago and recently wanted to update it and try a new ROM. Since I have no idea what the compatibility of of my old ROM I made a NAND backup then I reset it to the factory RUU version 3.29.651.5 and my phone was back to normal in the boot loader S was set as S-on.
I then proceeded to use the autoroot v2.5 in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838448. In the cmd prompt it said it was flashing the firmware, then said it was waiting for the device to boot up; however, the device did not boot up, I waited for approx 60 min and it was stuck on a black screen with the HTC logo in the middle and a small warning (triangle with exclamation point) in each corner. Now, it is permanently stuck on that screen. Even if I try to hold the volume down to get to the boot loader when it starts, it still goes to this screen.
What can I do to try to get out of this? I cant go back to my recovery to get my backup.
Thanks

The first time I tried to Root my phone, I had the same problem with Toasts Root method. That's stock Recovery you're seeing.
I ended up having to use Unrevoked Linux version and swore I would never unroot again, and I haven't.
I've tried using unrevoked and several other methods. The problem is I think most of them rely on the phone being on with USB debugging enabled. I unfortunately can't get there. The one ray of hope I have is that the device is recognized in my device manager as "Android USB device - HTC bootloader". Is there any other way I could fix this?

Are you holding power and volume down at the same time. Sounds like you are just holding volume. When you get to the bootloader I'd you see s-off all you will need to do is flash a PC36IMG of the recovery of your choice(I recommend twrp). Good luck!

Also, no need to unroot for any rom. Once you are rooted you can flash anything you want. Compatibility wise, you may need to update a radio but that is just flashed in recovery.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I am holding power and volume down. Powering it on normally and powering it on while holding volume down both go to the same screen.
