[Q] Full screen recording in CM7.1 - Defy General

Earlier when i was on stock froyo, I had downloaded a patch from xda to enable 720p playback & full screen video recording.
But now when I try to install that patch on cm7, it fails.
Is there any alternate way to enable full screen recording??
Thanks in advance.

CM7 already has fullscreen recording. It is just cropped (smaller resolution). Sam as on froyo. 720 maybe won't be available. On green lensed device not at least. If it doesn't work with rc1v2, try a nightly.

Had it been fullscreen, the playback would have also been in fullscreen, but it actually isn't. Correct me if I am wrong.

Just tried. I get an option full screen and the playback IS in full screen. I don't know if it worked perfect on RC1 but it does in 2208 nightly.

There aint fullscreen recording in the cm7 RC1 , your best bet is a nightly indeed.

This patch is don't work, for my Phone(Motorola Defy 2.2.1 Orange).
Link's camera just disappeared. It was reflashing mobile...
Hello!
This WVGA video recording patch working on 2.2.2 CEE Froyo?
Respect to all Defy users!
Yes, it works on 2.2.2 CEE.
I'm really a noob when it comes to this stuff, but i'm a fast learner. So can anyone tell me how to install that patch from antibyte's 24th post?
edit: i have android 2.2.2 from update through official motorola update software.
You have to root your phone (with superoneclick), install custom recovery (clockworkmod), put the zip on phone's card, reboot into custom recovery and install zip from card. First do a nandroid backup (just in case...). Use LGCamera, the patch won't work with stock camera.
2 questions, where do i find custom recovery to install on my phone and what is the operation for rebooting in recovery mode?
nevermind, i searched a little in the forum and found how to reboot and install, will post little update on how this worked out for me.
I was in the middle of posting the link for 2ndinit for you , but now if you find how to do it I will wait to see how it worked. Just remember to do a nandroid backup first and then play with update zip's
It worked great. Happy i can now record underwater with widescreen, much better. I'm now playing with the settings from lgcamera to see what's best.
If you installed the 720p patch, then set LGCamera to 1280x720, video encoder mpeg4, video file format mpeg4, bitrate 5 Mbit (5 is enough), audio aac bitrate 102400 and...that's it you have 720p recording
I use 848x480, mpeg4, mpeg4, 5Mbit, framerate auto, audio source and encoder auto and works great. The settings you wrote, tried them and it says recording failed.
If i change resolution for 720p it doesn't work, if i change to aac it doesn't work.

Do you have a red lens or green lens? (Bayer or SOC)
i have a green lens defy, and the wvga recording works without problems (not on lgcamera though), and 720p playback too

[Q] 720p Recording on Cyanogenmod Nightly?

I just was sent the Incredible as a replacement for my Droid 2 and immediately had it rooted and installed Cyangogen Mod Nightly Build 7. I do not see the option to record in 720p as I did in sense. Is there a way I can change it so my phone will record in 720p?
This feature has yet to be implemented in CM7.
It is well documented that 720p recording does not work in CM7 yet. Every CM7 thread states this.

CM7 Camera really HD???

there is a hd option in it. But only black screen and not able to record.........all the records appear to be the same ..There is no difference in anything. Quarx please see to this ....5MP camera quality is a bit bad. Hope it can be improved with your effort. People all around the world who use cm7 are expecting big from you!!!Please work on 720 p hd fix
in the latest nightly no longer gives a black screen when you select HD or CF in the camera
Couldn't get hd working in cm7. Just installed it today. Photographs work in high resolution, only hd-video doesn't seem to work. High quality works fine and is good enough for me, but hd would be a nice bonus. I do have a red lens

yeah, HD recording would be cool

[Q] Just to Clear up about the whole Green Lens Whackadoo...

My sister (might) wanna install MIUI on her Motorola Defy. But if the camera doesn't work, it's a no-go. When we rooted her phone, suddenly the camera started acting weird, like it wouldn't show what the camera was pointed at (completely black screen, but it was capable of capturing the pictures anyway ) . And the video recording didn't work either. It didn't actually record video, but the audio was there. This was on the shipped, stock froyo rom.
If she installed MIUI on her phone, would the before-mentioned problems still be present? She doesn't care about not being able to capture 720p video, the only thing that matters to her is that it works.
A reply would be greatly appreciated.
Hiya christian iv got the green lens on standard froyo rom and my camera and video works great, have u tried wiping data and cache? Iv not tried miui rom but id like to no if people are having problems with camera or video on custom roms??
sent by my motorola defy xda app
Miui based ROM wajkiui has great camera. Video recording also works perfectly, at 848*480 CM7 recently has been giving me problems with video recording, so I've switched to wajkiui.
Last time I saw miui official thread, there seemed to be a few bugs in it. Read the thread if you want miui only and not wajkiui...

Just goto stock recovery n clear the cache...
Or use cust recovery to clear it...
Clearing the cache should fix it...

MIUI and other AOSP roms work on both lenses without a problem.

[Q] Camera FC's when attempting to recprd video

I am running Lupus v8 on a unlocked R80at. Was pretty happy with this kernel until I went to take some photos/videos for my 4 year old duaghters birthday. Taking photos was fine however soon as I attempted to record video it locked up and then force closed. If I recall ages ago I thought this was a common issue with this kernel, however I also was under the impression that this eas resolved. I am not using the stock camera app. I am running ICS+ camera app. I know camera related issues are or can be kernel related. I asked this question on the Lupus v8 thread but no reply and its been a couple days so I thought i would simply make a thread to keep the Lupus thread free of questions.
Any ideas? I have wiped the data on the camera+ app and again same results.
Edit - Noticed after wiping the data on the camera app and retesting it repeats itself however this time the phone locks up and I had to pull the battery.

Are you using 480p version of that kernel? If yes, problem is solved. You must just install 720p version. I had this problem too but after install 720p version everything was fine.
Sorry for my bad english

Yes I am running the 480p version as I wanted to keep as much ram as possible, but if you say the 720p doesnt have this issue then I guess I will flash the 720p and report back.
Just a side note, anyone have any idea why the 480p version would have this issue while 720p does not, and I am sure its been asked but why the dev has not resolved the issue in 480p....?
720p fixed the issue but it looks like it eats up a lot of ram, does anyone know how much ram difference there is between the 480p and 720p versions? It looks to me like 30mb.....
On 480 hd recording not working. You need to change to SD and should work fine.
Had similar problem. Forget obout it and tried to record my daughter school show. Got camera recording settings as hd. Phone freeze but quickly removed battery, turned on and changed to sd and manage to record few last seconds of her show

Just so I understand, you used the 480 kernel but set the video to standard video recording and it worked? If thats the case I will go back to 480p Lupus and see if it works as I prefer to have extra ram.
Also where did you go to change the HD settings I dont recall seeing it in the settings, of course I am on camera+ ics
Yes I'm using Lupus GB 480p. And camera recording working fine on low quality.
But unfortunate low quality is rubbish but I don't use recording very often so that's ok with me.

I dont do a lot of video recording myself, noticed that on Camera ICS+ there is no options to adjust recording video quality, perrhaps I will have to decide between using 720p kernel and Camera ICS+ or stock camera app with 420p...... hmmm....I know I already asked this but does anyone know what the ram difference is between 420p and 720p kernels of Lupus? Or if not is there a way I can look for myself? Thanks in advance.
