Replacing screen on HTC Desire - Desire General

Hi,
I was in the shower and had my phone in my pocket and think it either got some water/steam damage, or i must have dropped it when i threw my clothes on the bathroom floor. Now the screen has white vertical lines instead of the proper screen. Its the new PVT-4 model so can anyone advise me on where to get the correct screen?
Or would I be better getting a replacement Desire?
Any tips on fixing it myself without getting a new screen off eBay?
Thanks.

Screen (or screen cover)

Somehow, I managed to damage my Prophet's screen cover. The screen is fine, but the glossy plastic coating (or whatever it's called) is slightly dented.
Does anyone have any idea if it can be replaced and, if yes, where I could buy a new one?
Help much appreciated.
I presume that you are not talking about the screen protector, then thats probably the 'touch screen' which is a layer on top of your screen that detects your touching for the screen. It is unlikely that people will be selling it seperately, HOWEVER, you may get lucky with certain conditions (eg dead backlight, dead pixel, of TFT screen). Try your luck on eBay.
That's right. I'm looking for the touch pad (digitizer) only, not the screen protector nor the whole lcd screen. I'm having troubles finding it for Prophet, though.
i saw one on ebay 15 dollars or somthing like that going to order one myself one of these days

[Q]New LCD or LCD & Digitizer?

Great first post coming up. Had my Desire Z a couple of weeks. Read lots on here, got it rooted and Virtuous installed. Happy with the phone.
Out this evening, phone in back pocket, wouldn't want to scratch the case or screen with car keys in front pocket. Sat down on a chair. Retrieve phone to see a crack on the LCD. Doh.
The LCD is now black with a small crack. No picture at all although the backlight does seem to work. No visible damage to digitizer and am able to answer calls by sliding up or down in about the right place. As such can I assume I just need to replace the LCD?
Anyone recommend a repair centre in the UK and / or source for an original HTC screen? Plenty on the bay but you can never be sure.
Also would assume HTC will laugh if I try and warranty it.

[Q] Cracked Screen + Black Screen

Hey people!
Ive recently put the weight of a couch on the screen of my phone. My screen was already cracked from a previous drop but everything looked fine still.
After putting that much weight on my screen, half my screen is permanently black unless I put pressure near the bottom of my phone. It somehow releases the blackness temporarily.
My question is [Q] do I need to replace just the screen or did I screw up something else as well?
TIA
I have the same problem with my screen now. To fix it you need a new LCD. The cracked up front part is called the digitizer and you might as well replace them both together now. Only problem is to find out if you have a wide or slim LCD connecter cable and there's no way to tell until your phone is disassembled. Good luck!

Screen Replacement

Hello!
Unfortunately, I dropped my phone yesterday without a case nor a screen protector...and it slid on wood flooring which caused some scratches AND a crack in the middle of the screen. It's not noticeable when the phone is on but I can't live with it, so I am on a hunt for a decent screen replacement. I have found some on E-Bay and was wondering if anyone else has used them? It says "LCD" display so I am wondering if its LCD or AMOLED... anyone? Or does anyone else have any other ideas?

It is AMOLED, but usually, it is named as LCD in many online shops, I got the screen from witrigs. And If you are unsure of your abilities to repair the phone on your own, you can follow this tutorial of*OnePlus 5T screen replacement
it's AMOLED if you are not sure about screen repair of your phone then you can contact your local screen repair shop. they will help you for that.

No Display after dropping phone

Hi,
Unfortunately for me i dropped my phone and cracked my tempered glass in several places. gladly the screen underneath was perfectly fine after drop however, it has developed a fault as the screen won't turn on at all. I tried turning it off and restarting and although i can hear the boot up logo sound i see no picture at all. i can receive calls but cannot answer due to screen not displaying.
The screen had four main pressure cracks.... one is top left, one on the ear speaker, one bottom middle and one bottom left of phone. hopefully you can see it in picture.
Can you give advice on what to try or do to resolve this? will i need a new screen or disassemble to see what the issue is?
I've only had the phone for 2/3 months at most
Thanks in advance
looks like i will answer my own question....
i bought a replacement lcd & digitiser, one complete unit and swapped the necessary components over to new screen. all is working and good. not sure if the screen is repairable but there are other parts inside this screen worth selling on. it still has a non cracked immaculate screen along with the charging port and other stuff inside old screen.
at a cost of £70, i consider this an expensive fix
Thanks for the input kakawak
cheers
