I'm not sure what you mean by unlock code, but you need to call Verizon and they will give it to you..
i need an unlock code to input into the phone so i can use it globally. i bought this from someone, i don't have verizon. its never been activated.
flash it
You're going to have to look at phones in Craigslist in bigger cities in Iowa, Illinois, or Missouri and find an individual or phone shop to flash
it for you. Going to cost $$ to do it.

He needs to unlock the SIM, that means he either needs the code from Verizon (or other source that will most likely charge him for it), or use an XTC Clip to hardware unlock the SIM Card

Is there an extra step using the Xtc clip? The sim card isn't in when you s-off. How does the sim get unlocked?

If I'm not mistaken, one of the steps in using the Clip is to insert a small sim looking board into the slot which is wired to the Clip. At this point the Clip is hardware unlocking the SIM slot. There is no need to for the Verizon provided SIM to be installed because it is the phone that requires unlock, not the SIM itself.

Hello everyone. I dont currently own the incredible 2, but I am thinking of buying it soon. My decision is contingent upon ONE question;
I want to have my phone rooted and run different roms, yet I also want to unlock the sim because I will be going to school in the carribean soon, and would love to use my android phone over there, through whatever prepaid gsm phone service available there.
can someone tell me if both of these events (rooted [with S-OFF] and unlocked SIM) are possibly simultaneously?
Thank you for your help
As of right now there is no public root because the s-off toll hasn't been relesed. It should be out in a few days though. As for the sim unlock I can't help you with that. Wait for the s-off tool and maybe then it will be possible to unlock the sim.
the unlock shouldn't be a problem. i think you can just call verizon and have them give you an unlock code. from what i've read, they will do that pretty easily for existing customers.
Next step after s-off is to donate alpharev guys for sim unlock ) XTC just wipe seczone to clear all locks, maybe it can be done without any gold cards etc ...

correct, i called and said that i wanted to unlock mine.. the guy replied "what do you mean unlock?".. so i explained that i go out of the country regularly to visit family and would like to use my SIM from another phone in this one so that I don't have to carry around 2 phones. the guy said ok and transfered me to the international dept and they gave me the unlock code.
Living outside the US and just do unlock contacting [email protected] by email and request unlock code for my DInc2. Processing time was about 10 minutes and it costs for me $21.
I just enter 8dig code and phone recognize alien sim card.
PS: Handset is sooo sexy! Much more than Thunderbolt

The post directly above yours claims Verizon offers the SIM unlock code free of charge. There's no reason to pay $21 for a free service.
Unlock DInc 2 Sim
I called Verizon International Support last week to unlock my SIM. They also sent me the instructions, which are as follows:
If customer has a Verizon Wireless SIM card in the Device:
Go to: Settings -> Security -> Disable SIM card lock + Enter
Enter the SIM Unlock code when prompted.
If customer has non-Verizon Wireless SIM card in the Device:
Power cycle the device
Enter the SIM Unlock code when prompted (This will occur when device is powering up)
I am not sure if the unlock code is specific to the model of the device or the IMEI. If someone can post to let me know and it is just generic for the model, I'll post the unlock code.
unlock codes are never generic. whoever wants to unlock will have to call 611 for their personal code.
i currently have a sim unlocked inc2. im wondering if the OP's question is:
1. will the factory unlock stick after root and /or flashing roms
or 2. will there be a software unlock available after root/s-off is avail
Problem
i have HTC INcredible 2
Ive recently unlocked gsm,by pass active, but can't change to GSM mode ( always show CDMA mode)
change to GSM mode , Incredible 2 show
"there is no Sim Card on your device . Your device will switch to CDMA mode now"
try another Sim card , change to GSM mode ,still show ""there is no Sim Card on your device . Your device will switch to CDMA mode now""
-Factory reset and try another sim always show "there is no Sim Card on your device . Your device will switch to CDMA mode now""
My incredible 2 , new in a box 100%
Unlocked by code (8 digi)

Did you try calling Verizon or Vodafone (Verizon Wireless is American Vodafone, if you didn't know that before) before spending the money?
Yeap, but they said that need account holder to complete unlocking procedure.
Strange...I would figure they would be able to give an unlock code regardless of account status. The unlock code is not tied to an account. Possibly you reached a dumb rep
I'm in the USA, i like the phone but want to know which 3G band does this phone support. I've seen misleading information.
Please advise. is it 850/1900 or 900/1800 or 1700/2100 ?
thx

If you want to root the inc2 is not the way to go. The only root that exists and is likely to ever exist requires an expensive piece of hardware. The inc2 is one of the most locked down phones ever released. Don't listen to those who say a stable software root is on the way. A stable software root is very unlikely and you are going to be stuck with this phone for 2 years.

Sim flex cable needs be threaded through the sim slot. Small end in first. The sim looking end needs to sit exactly like the Verizon sim did that came with the phone.

you don't have to thread the small end through the sim slot. I know this because I have a clip and used it for a number of people. Two, both wires work, so don't worry about picking the right flex cable.. 3, even though it says .99 hboot, that doesn't matter .97 works.

As everyone has stated, the XTC Clip will work for your phone. Look at TouchPro's photos on proper sim cable hook up at the link below. Specifically the 3rd and 4th photos.

Yup that's exactly what I said. The sim end has to sit just like a normal sim would. Hence why you have to thread the small end through.

I'm having a problem unlocking the SIM. I have Incredible 2 unlock by code ( 8 digi)
ON HTC incredible 2
Settings:Security, there is a menu item for "Disable SIM card lock". + enter unlock code
but after enter unlock code , Incredible 2 will reboot
My problem is: After unlocking SIM I try to switch to GSM mode. It says "There is no SIM card on your device. Your device will switch to CDMA mode now". I tried number of working SIMs of other people phones... No success.
Change Simcard ( GSM) , turn on Htc incredible 2 , Settings>Call>Preferred Network>GSM/UMTS Mode always show "There is no SIM card on your device. Your device will switch to CDMA mode now"
I go to Settings - >Security->Disable SIM lock. It says "Sim lock disabled"
I can't make a call , i can't use GSM/UMTS mode ,I'm not in US
I already try to unlock by XTC clip but it doesn't work. As Raskal said "there is hardware problem, HTC doesn't recognize sim card . I have a different opinion: that 's soft-ware problem.
We need think together about solution for this problem. Thank you
I am having the same problem. No one has an answer yet? Verizon is no help...

2. Are u running a custom rom?
If you have even 1 of these as fare as I'm aware u have to be on stock for the unlock to work. espeshaly if your getting the same code time and time again.

Are you sure it's free on Three? Every time I've asked them, they've quoted £15.32 in store and through phone calls to unlock. And the only info I can find on the website, claims pretty much the same: http://support.three.co.uk/srvs/cgi...sername=Mobile:mobileUser?s_search=helpsearch
Probably would be cheaper from somewhere else though.
It would be a lot cheaper elsewhere but I know they had to give my sister an unlock code for the i9000. But I'm sure I read somewhere as well in the UK there not aloud to sell simlocked phone but if they do there abliged to give you the unlock code.
Best thing to do is check citizens advice website if you don't want to pay for it to see if the info is true. I only heard it through the grapevine, but what's £3-5 to get an unlock code its a lot cheaper than i****e unlock cides

1. I read somewhere that when you flash the US Unlocked RUU during setup you're asked to pick a network. Was there anything like that for you? What did you do if there was?
2. How did you do the physical unlock and how much did it cost?

Not sure of your status with this but DO NOT use htcunlockingservice.com. It was $12 to begin with, then I was informed I'd need to pay an additional $12 bc the device was hard locked. Tesco phones are a **** to unlock. If you have pay monthly with them can get it done for free. Can request on Teco Mobile website. If not then - see below is copy and paste from Tesco Mobile website;
Paying to unlock your phone
We don’t charge you to unlock pay as you go phones over 12 months old. If you’ve got a pay as you go phone less than 12 months old, you’ll need to pay £10.
To pay, just top-up the Tesco Mobile number you gave to us and we’ll take the £10 payment from the SIM card within 24 hours. If you need one, you can request a free Tesco Mobile SIM then call 4444 free to top-up.

I figured that'd be the case. Thanks. First time I've had to obtain one and actually got it. Their customer support is not so great. They acted like I was asking for the impossible and continued to tell me it is unlocked. I said dude it says it is locked to you! I know the bootloader is I guess nearly impossible to unlock. Apparently only dev editions can be unlocked. Surely they have the tools do such. Not sure if I'll get a Motorola again. It's basically owning something you don't fully own.

I did have a little Moto X XT1060 I think? I think it might have been a dev edition. Was a pretty good phone. Most of those (non carrier branded) won't be sold in retail stores I wouldn't imagine so I guess you have to buy online? I have purchased unlocked phones on Ebay. I was just in a jam for this one and got it from Wal-Mart and on top of that it had a sorry 14-day return policy. That is asinine.

Not if it's a Verizon branded device.

Hi I have an art locked phone (found in the e-waste container with puffy battery ordered new battery works 100% fine)
Yet art refuses to send a bootloader unlock code because the whatever period is not passed or something isn't paid off idk.
Can I unlock the bootloader or at least remove the SIM lock somehow so I can use it with my mint SIM?
Thanks

nah dude, unless you can hack the bootloader, you're pretty much stuck there. The problem is the key is generated by a program on their end, so unless you get access to this program( literally impossible) or hack the bootloader you can't access it. Its like if they gave you a pad lock without the key. You would have to look through the lock mechanism and trick it into opening, but there is probably some issues along if you can even achieve this

I think too
Hi
so finally att sent me an unlock code.
i can't however unlock the bootloader. not even via https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-b where if i inspect the page and make the "get my code" button appear it drops me to a 404 otherwise i copypaste the requested code (including #s) it says "Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking." the phone has att logo on it and at boot the att logo pops up too. but why can i put in now other sim, but can't upload another firmware? makes no sense.
is there a way to unlock bootloader somehow nowadays?
the phone also powers up to fastboot which i can't seem to fix either.
thanks
no test point? no "hack"? i'm stuck with att branded software? what a garbage...
