LeeDroid installation questions etc... - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i have some questions with LeeDroid because i don't want to do something wrong with installation
So i have a DHD 2.2 root, S off , ... i want to install LeeDroid but i have never done that , so i installed ROM Manager , CWM recovery , moved some apps on SD ,... and my questions are do i have to change the radio thing or not ?
I saw that i have to do a full wipe and Lee gives a patch or something to do a full wipe on the EXT4 thing but what is that EXT4 ? How to apply the patch for the full wipe ? and how to not lose apps after installing LeeDroid
Help pls
I would like a person to help me

you need to flash the radio that is recommended on the latest leedroid 3.3.3 site. flash the radio first. then to use the EXT wipe etc just copy the files over to ur sdcard then reboot into recovery then choose the install a zip from sdcard then confirm and it does it all for you. then simply do the same thing for the leedroid zip. do a full reboot first then flash any other zips you want afterwards (sense 3 etc)
hope this helps a bit....

thankls for your answer but when i want to flash the radio with Android Control , nothin happens , what am i doing wrong ?
EDIT: i tried flashing the radio to the recommanded one with Ultimate Multi Tool and i m getting the same one ..

[Q] Updgrading Android Revolution HD ROM to v2.1

I apologize if this is in the wrong place or has already been answered. I've certainly searched and must have missed it somewhere.
I am currently running the Android Revolution HD ROM, version 2.0.13.
I'd like to upgrade to the latest version which is 2.1. After reading the thread it says to install the newest version I must have either 2.0.15 or 2.0.16 installed first. Once this is done, I simply need to flash 2.1 ontop of one of these versions.
I have two questions regarding this.
A) Does this simply mean boot into ClockworkMod Recovery and hit 'install from ZIP', then choosing the 2.1 ROM .zip?
B) How do I go about installing version 2.0.16 over 2.0.13? Do I need to delete/format all data via ClockworkMod Recovery first or simply 'flash it on top' of 2.0.13, similar to question A?
Thanks in advance!
You don't need to install 2.0.15 or 16 if you download the full 2.1 ROM, don't download the 2.1 patch.
A) yes boot into recovery and install from the zip. But make sure you do a backup first just in case.
B) I don't think you need to wipe data to go from 2.0.13 to 16. But you need to flash 2.0.15 first then apply the 2.0.16 performance patch.
Hope it helps
Dont forget to make at least one full restart before flashing the patches to .16 and then another full restart before flashing 2.1 as this is recommended by Mike. Also disable fastboot before flashing patches, it could cause problems like bootloops.
cheers
Well - not long after I posted this thread, Android Revolution HD 3.0 was released.
I assume this is just a full ROM and to install it I simply boot into Clockworkmod Recovery, wipe all my data and then install the ROM from the .zip I place on my SD card.
Is that right?
I'm just in over my head and confusing my self. ):

Yes. But Mike has not uploaded the v3.0 yet. He said he has some problems with internet. So just wait until the evening and see what the master says.

Need to reinstall stock rom(maybe flashing a custom one)

Hello all,
I am running stock rom rooted, version .5.
Due to some FCs happening I want to reinstall the stock rom.
How should I do it?
I don't really remember..
My phone was unbranded when I bought it.
Just running the RUU of the latest stock rom will do the work?
Or do I have to unroot it firstly?
Also, I have created a partition (ext3 - 512MB) at my sd (8GB - Class 6)..and I would like to be able to install apps there...I think it's called A2SD..
How can I do that?
I am taking a backup with TB and will backup contacts and anything else I need.
Should I take a nandroid backup too?
Additionally, in order to decide which rom would be better for me, is there any way to try custom roms, such as running a virtual android device at my pc?
Thank you for your time!
To use the A2SD+, you need to be rooted.
So you can either run a RUU (unroots your phone - then root it again) or search the Android developement for stock rooted ROMs with A2SD+.
If you choose the 2nd one, just boot into recovery wipe everything and then flash the ROM and then restore everything with Titanium.
Here's a stock rooted one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773997
Nandroid is always good, does not hurts when you have a backup
Thank you for your reply!
To start with, I haven't flashed through recovery any rom yet and haven't wiped data, and thus I am really inexperienced with these.
So I could download this ->"2.29.405.2/5 INIT.D ROM v3.0 | v3.1 - NEW!"? (The version .5) with init.d so that I can install the script of A2SD+ ("A2SD+ (1.4) - v3 compatible", right?
Do I have to flash a radio too?
I think I've read here somewhere that if the radio you're having is working properly then stick with it..If I wipe everything will I still have to install a radio?
So if I download this version what are the steps that I should follow?
1)Backup everything I need with TB and nandroid.
2)Copy the file into the root of sd.
3)Boot into recovery.
4)Wipe everything->wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition?
5)And then which option is to flash the rom? The "install zip from sdcard"?
After this procedure what else do I have to keep in mind?
What about this "Additionally, in order to decide which rom would be better for me, is there any way to try custom roms, such as running a virtual android device at my pc?" ?
Yes, that's the ROM, and you will be able to use A2SD+ with the init.d ROM.
Radio is not needed. Even if you wipe everything, it remains, because it is on a different partition. So wiping everything is safe, radio remains.
The steps are good, but before flashing ("install zip from SD Card") make sure you toggle verification off (it's in the same menu) - just in case.
Altough I strongly recommend to run through those custom ROMs, you'll not regret it (If you choose a stable one from a well known dev).
Yeah, the virtual android emulator. Wanted to write about it, but forgot it after searching for the ROM I Know it is possible, never tried it.
Here are some links, tough:

http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f4/test-rom-before-flash-31617/
I have flashed the one with the init.d..but into Settings > data I can only see as internal memory 120+MB...
TB though shows the free data on the sd extern..
How can I be sure what is correct? :S
Also I tried leedroid and cyanogen mod for a little..but leedroid was partially tranlsated to greek and cyanogen mod does not have sense which I seem to have got used to it..
Also, about the emulation..I was stuck at a part where I have to create a system.img file of the rom...:S
1. try to do the three wipes.. wipe factory settings, wipe cache, wipe dalvik and then reboot. perhaps you won't have fc's after that.
2. if you run a stock ruu again - you will lose root and s-on will return. this is the way to unroot essentially. check unlockr for details on that. you can use a universal ruu from htc to do that if you have to. but if you try 1. first, then you won't have to do this. i would suggest NOT unrooting just for a few fc's.
you will solve the problem by installing a different rom. now onto that issue about app2sd...
if you want app2sd.. i would suggest looking into data2sd. i'm on rcmix-hd or rcmix-s-w.1.1 and it's very nice. if you want to use data2sd you can also add this feature. pm me about that. one proviso, your sd-card must be a class-6 or higher to really enjoy data2sd ... i have a class-4 and the speed is not bad. but as the card becomes fragmented, i am sure the speed will suffer.
good luck enjoy your desire.
I have done the 2 wipes except the dalvik cache before installing the rom.
I haven't used a stock RUU.
I have downloaded the v3 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773997 with init.d support.
I will stick with app2sd because I read that the sd wears off with all that writing :S
About the roms:
Yesterday I checked Leedroid but the thing that I didn't like was the partial localization..
I am using greek language.
Is there any way to solve that?
Also which other roms are more stable and worth the try?
Additionally, at the thread of the ROM I installed it says "Note that framework-res is already deodexed in this ROM".
This means that I can flash any notification bar icon I want and also the super cicle battery mod?
Thank you for your replies!
Anyone please? :S

With a deodexed rom you can apply global themes, fonts and mods.
With an odexed rom this is not possible, unless the mod is appropriately altered.

[Q] Can't flash any gingerbread ROM

Hi
I'm trying to flash a gingerbread rom to my desire but I always end up being stuck on the HTC logo. I tried several ROMS( opendesire, modaco with sense and without, some more too but can't remember the names,... ) The only gingerbread ROM that installs is CM7, but i have market problems that annoy the hell out of me ( can't find certain apps, need to hack to install bigger apps ). A shame because i really like CM, but i want to compare with others
Any idea why gingerbread won't flash correctly. I have tried several froyo ROMS without any issues before, by the way
I have
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
RADIO-5.14.05.17
thx
ntdst
Did you remember to wipe your data between each different install?
That's the most common problem when you get stuck at boot.
i use rom-manager and always create a back-up and wipe.
I also tried with an empty SD-Card and repartioned it ( with rom-manager ). The results are always the same, every gingerbread rom gets stuck. I thought there was something wrong with the partitions or maybe i need s-off for gingerbread... ?
What version of CWM do you have? Did you update manually to the new radio for the GB Roms?

I'm using Rom Manager v4.2.0.2
It is possible that i flashed that radio with a previous modaco sense/froyo ROM.
should i first flash that one you mention and then try again?
Okay, Rom Manager Is not a recovery What's your recovery exactly?
And what ROMs do you try to flash?
AFAIK, you need to flash that first in order to get booted.
sorry clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 is current recovery
I really tried several ROMS
Modaco sense gingerbread
Modaco without sense
opendesire
oxygen
etc...
all and always stuck on HTC Logo except for CM7, that one works fine except for the market issues
- Clockworkmod Recovery 3.x.x.x (Recommended to be used! 2.x recoveries MAY have some problems with the updater-script => boot loop)

I found this in one of the ROM threads.
So my suggestion:
First try to update the radio to the newest (alredy posted the link).
If that does not help, then try to update your recovery.
updating radio and flashing updates did not help
i'm still stuck when trying to install oxygen
I could use some help in updating my recovery. I f i do this with rom manager 2.5.0.7 is the most recent.
I seems there's a 2.5.1.2 out and 3.x.x.x is not advised. Is there an update zip somewhere to use?
People report that Insertcoin S v22 can be installed with 2.5.0.7
Make sure you do a full wipe in THE RECOVERY, not ROM Manager or any program.
Too boot into recovery hold down Power+Vol Down while phone is off.
There:
1. Wipe data/factory reset
2. Wipe cahce
3. Under advanced menu > Wipe dalvik-cache
Also make sure your SD card is partitioned right.
And for the update - you can only update your recovery if you are S-OFF or you use Unrevoked3 with a custom recovery image.
Grab a copy of Ubuntu and check that the apps2sd partition on your card is formatted correctly. I tried all ways of formatting and partitioning (via clockwork/rom manager) and it never formatted correctly and always caused HTC boot sticking.
If I completely reformatted SD and reflashed an older rom (like Leedroid 2.3) would then boot fine. I then used Rom Manager to repartition & format SD, boot ubuntu (live CD is enough - no install required) then reformatted partition to EXT4, flashed and worked fine.
Also, is 2.5.0.7 your TRUE recovery version? Turn your phone on with vol-down held then select recovery - does the version change to an older one? If this is the case you may need to re-root is (Unrevoked) to update your recovery version permanantly.
Hope that helps.
If you are S-off you can flash newest recovery using fastboot, this flash would be permanent!
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.8-bravo.img
i agree with TMSsecret,
the gingerbread ROMs i have used seem to need a more recent version of HBOOT. First time I tried to flash LeeDroid 3.0.2, it didnt work. Applied S-OFF (which updates your HBOOT during the process) and tried again, worked no worries. Also, if you're keen to install the latest ROMs, upgrade to clockworkmod recovery 3.x... It took me a few tries to get FASTBOOT working properly (possibly because my version of windows XP has had too long to decompose), but if you persevere, it will work.
The best way to make sure your ROM will work is a thorough research session. Not slagging you at all, just pointing out the obvious. Look up everything to do with your intended ROM and read the threads.

[Q] Installing Leedroid ROM

Hi,
I know this is probably an easy and simple question for everyone. But how do i go about installing a new ROM when i already have one on there. I have the Coolsense ROM on there at the moment and i want to go and install the latest Leedroid ROM. How do i go about doing this? This is probably a simple question but i really dont want to risk bricking my phone.
Thanks in advance
you can often find instructions in the opening post of the rom thread, boot into recovery and do a full wipe, make sure your sd card is partitioned appropriately if using data2sd or a2sd, make sure the zip you want to flash is on your sd card and click flash from zip file and choose the leedroid rom, that should be it..

[Q] Flashing a rom without ful data wipe with Data2SD

Hello guys..
Sorry if this question was already asked but i couldn't find it anywhere..
Im having CM9 - i think alpha 3 - rom on my WFS. Yesterday i read that i can flash the new update without doing a data wipe.
That made me happy so i was backing up my rom and flashed the new one just with Dalvik-cache Wipe ..
But the problem was that i was using Data2SD on the Alpha3.. When i started the new rom the apps which were on the sd-ext partition were gone.
And if i flashed the A2SD Killer and the Data2SD installer it lead into a bootloop.
So my question is if i have to do something special because of my Data2SD..
or if im just to dumb to do it on my own -.-' ..
Damn sorry.. x(
I just saw that there is a Data2SD Reinstaller. I will try this one ..
Grrr xD..
-- Edit:
It ended in a Bootloop again .. ;/
Seems like i need help..
Not sure if u can do that. But however, try installing the same data2SD installer and restoring the sd-ext from nandroid back up if u made one.
It's in cwm5.0.2.8 backup and restore --->advanced restore
But I think u not need to restore as simple installation of data2sd may work. Not sure tho.
So if i understood you right:
1. Wipe Dalvik-cache
2. Flash new Rom
3. A2SD Killer
4. Data2Sd installer
5. sd-ext restore
6. reboot
I will give it a try
-- Edit
Thank you verys much !!
It is working now.. i did like i wrote in my post !
Awesome ..
