Hello,
I'd like to request a forum for the Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660 and GT-S5660M (Bell Canada variant).
There are already two or three ROMs that have been posted for the Euro 5660 and I've managed to make an ODIN flashable stock 5660M backup, meaning people can safely get to work on that variant as well.
The device launched a few months ago in Europe and Asia, and two weeks ago in Canada.
Right now the posts are scattered all over, or worse mixed in related Galaxy family phone threads like the Mini or the Ace...
Its a mid-range device and I don't think there's the critical mass to make a 4-5 forum setup, but at least a single place where the few existing threads could be moved would be nice.
Thanks in advance,
Darkshado

+1, I'd like to see this happen as well. A dedicated forum section would be really useful in terms of progress on this device.

Hello developers,
A thread has been created to help to make the honeycomb functional.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025263
Please share your knowledge and let's make this sweet.
**The thread goes for both the GSM and CDMA versions
This is why I think it was a silly idea to split GSM and CDMA forums, they could have clearly been separated by peoples eyes and tags. Now we have to mess about going back and forth instead of having everything in one topic/forum

it would be wise to create another forum, this time with mixed topics from both, like this case

Indeed, Or just scrap the splitting of GSM and CDMA altogether.
A dedicated HoneyComb forum would be a good idea though.
Now we have 4 hc threads going its bound to get confusing

Maybe that's why Spacemoose1has released the third build with a purportedly easier install, and getting no comments whatsoever

I'd prefer a dedicated honeycomb forum.
I find the forums much better now.... as a euro gsm tab owner I no longer have to sift through all the non-relevant info for gsm tab topics and I'm sure cdma users have similar views.
So we have *another* honeycomb thread that just links us to another Honeycomb thread? Jesus. This GSM/CDMA split was a bad decision.

I don't think it was a bad choice, I just think people are to lazy to open up more than 1 tab at a time in their browser. I don't have any problems keeping track of various threads in various forums... that's what the subscribe button is for! I do think that this and it's attached thread are a very bad idea, considering we have a GSM and a CDMA post already in place to track the development. There (shortly) wont be a need to cross-check between CDMA and GSM platforms, because they will become their own entities... they just are not at the moment. (At least not in the Honeycomb realm)
Everyone in the HD2 forums thought separating them as they are now was going to be bad... but jesus, with 7 OS's on one device, that'd be ridiculous...

the purpose tf link to the other thread is to attract the GSM Devs to the HC thread, it is not a GSM or CDMA division here, many GSM devs don't check that CDMA often so this link-thread is for gather everyone in one place.
we had 2 or 3 HC threads but none was purely for general development, so this one is for that.

No, this one is to point people to that one and that one is just a copy of information available on the other two... It's redundant.
Trust me, GSM devs are checking all the forums... If not, than they are cruddy devs.

I guess that is true, but that's xda for ya! People don't like searching.
We have Specemooses update thread, the CDMA and GSM rom threads. This thread and the thread this links to are unnecessary IMHO.

Hi,
Love XDA, but can we get a specific forum for Telus T989 users? There are two versions of this phone out to the masses and it's getting confusing for roots, roms and other with only a T-Mobile forum.
If others agree, please voice your support for this idea.
Thanks,
Dennis

AllGamer has already stated beforehand that because the hardware is exactly the same, there is not much point in opening another forum for the Telus variant. Rooting is exactly the same, except for getting into Download Mode and ROMs work on both phones.
It's just as if you would make a separate forum for each Motorola Atrix or Galaxy Nexus.
eggxactly!
my bad, u may delete this thread
Hello, I'm a developer in Korea. I'm new to XDA.
I'm writing this post because I found that the ROMs and Kernels for Korean Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, although they are incompatible with the global models, only are posted under the global models' forums due to the absence of separate forums.
Because I'm new to XDA, I still am not fully aware of the XDA culture: I'm not sure if XDA is careful about creating new forums especially if the new forum isn't provisioned to attract a whole lot of threads. However, U.S. variants all get separate forums, and I believe it would worth asking.
Thanks for reading :good:

POTATO!!!!
In this kind of situation, another forum won't generally be created unless there's a high demand for it. So a good place to start would be making a request in the thread that Prawesome linked to and get other users of the Korean variants to make requests there aswell.
Also, if you PM a mod of the S3 forum you could ask to make a thread where all things related to the Korean variant would go. It's not exactly what you're after but at least it's a start.
Thanks. I went to the thread and requested.

It is very hard to find anything here. For example in SGS2 forum there are sections:
Galaxy S II General
Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Galaxy S II Accessories
Galaxy S II Original Android Development
Galaxy S II Android Development
It could be much easier to find anything if there will be sections:
User Guides / How to
Developer Guides / How to
Q&A
Accesories
CustomROMs
MODs
Themes
Thanks for the recommendation, you can also post suggestions here:

Everyone will have their own idea about what constitutes "messy" and what would work best, ultimately we have to decide based on the experience of the users and staff and developers and come up with a workable system that evolves over time.
I can see some merit in your suggestion, but realize that for some users the current system would be more agreeable.
Be that as it may, you can always make suggestions to the site in the thread I linked
Thanks for reply. I will write a post there.
No problem,
and keep in mind that just because your personal idea is not adopted, it is still taken into consideration and may be phased into the current system in some fashion, so don't get discouraged or feel ignored if the things you suggest are not necessarily put into action.

It doesnt help that a lot of people make new threads for a lot of the same things too
It would be great if phones had section manufacturer wise rather than have a huge photo for each phone.
For anything I need to urgently search I just search using Google. That throws the best result.

I know that I missed it. It was only schema. I am here 1 year. Now I wanted to modify my ROM by myself and I found it pretty hard to find threads I saw earlier.
The forum supports a $hit ton of phones, can be bit hard to keep organized. The search feature shall be your friend...

Hi, I am currently just joining the XDA forums but I've been lurking around here for a while now. and have found so many posts informative/helpful/funny.
I have a T-Mobile Galaxy Note II (T889) currently just upgraded to 4.3 which from reading from some of the post i see that it wasn't that good of an idea to do that so soon.
Even though the phone i own is the T-Mobile Note II. I do have it connected through At&t. and with the help of a combinations of Posts on the XDA forum i was able to get LTE.
As of right now I have not rooted my phone yet. Mainly because when i tried to do it before i lost signal completely and cost me some hours and a little bit of hastle to get it back to regular.
thought at least introduce myself. Hopefully in the future i get to learn some more before trying things out. and maybe one day create a ROM as i've seen there are some guides around.
HI abreu,
Welcome to XDA and SGH-T889 community!
As of you have already been through different forums you must have noticed that post which are not relevant to our phones or are duplicate get locked. There is an off-topic thread which covers almost any topic.
I am sure you will have a good learning experience here.
Welcome!
But, creating these threads are not really necessary, there are off topic areas for stuff like this..
