Hello everyone. I have the HTC Incredible 2. I rooted my phone one day before the OTA Gingerbread update became available. I am now running Froyo and want to get gingerbread but the OTA update wont work since im rooted. Does anyone know how I can get gingerbread with a rooted incredible 2 running froyo? Im really lost at the moment on how to do this. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I cannot run the Gingerbread OTA update because i'm rooted. My phone crashes when i try to do the OTA update.
Download rmk's gingersense rom. Go into bootloader by turning off phone, volume down + power, then volume down until recovery is highlighted and press the power button to enter. Once in recovery, I'm assuming you have CWM installed, wipe data/dalvik cache, then go to install rom/zip (i don't remember the exact name lol) and flash rmk gingersense. This will bring you to stock 2.3.3 rooted.

You need to be bone stock to get upgrade, but you can and should have s-off from unrevoked forever. Use my sig link if you need more help.
Thanks....i've got s-off so i downgraded back to the original 2.1 and everything that comes with it. Now the waiting game begins...
Good Luck with the waiting game, I'm waiting myself
I was told you just need to be on 2.1 with stock recovery and radio. Removing bloat is fine. You want to apply s-off so can get root again the update.

I had some issues come up with my rooted DInc today and ended up returning to official stock 2.2 Version & then rerooting.
I took the most recent OTA after returning to stock 2.2 because I forgot about the issue. BUT, I downloaded the UnRevoked Tool and rooted agian with it.
I had a new problem with the tool hanging up while trying to root. I was getting the message "waiting for root (safe to restart if this fails)" But my phone was at the white HBOOT menu screen and I just selected the FASTBOOT Menu & then the REBOOT option. My phone rebooted and the tool finished its job. I am a noob so correct me if I am wrong but I think I have the most current update installed and am happily rooted.
3.26.605.1/Baseband Version: 2.15.00.07.28
Rooted with UnRevoked S-off
Kernal: Hydra Standard Speed Undervolt 2.6.32-Hydra-ssuv-v05
Deleted Bloatware with Titanium Backup Chuck Norris Mode &
Wireless Tether working like a charm

If you are S-On and received the latest "Nov 15th" (or 14th??) OTA update, then take a look at -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9384491&postcount=199 and some of the posts following it.
It worked for me on my GF's AMOLED INC that had S-On and had already received the "Nov 15th" OTA update. Her's is now rooted with S-OFF.
They are testing their new fix today!

Hoping Final Exams are done for them. Hoping testing doesn't take long. Really, I was hoping to have this before this evening, but I will be patient...I'm guessing early next week.
i unrooted evo now its back to 2.1 how do i get to 2.2 so i can get gingerbread it says im all up to date
Are u going with a custom rom or stock? If custom you will first have to ROOT again.

If you move to the unrooted OTA Gingerbread, you will not be able to root as there is no current fix for the 2.3 on EVO.
Your best option is to root - install latest rooted GB OTA and you're done. The rooted version of the update was out in about 12 hours after it started to get pushed from Sprint. Everyone just waited until it was rooted until they installed.

I have froyo on my rooted droid incredible. I only used unrevoked3 so i guess i have s-on. When i update to gingerbread via OTA update. How can i keep these features without having to wait for a new root method to come. Please be specific im a total noob.
From what I know, once you do the ota if it even shows up with your root, itl break root and pull just have to wait for the new method to come out. Or just don't update until the new method is present.

If you use the Unrevoke then your phone should be fully rooted with S-Off and if you get the OTA dont install it otherwise you will have to either wait for a root method to be found or downgrade to froyo 2.2 o get root again... Ill say get s-off and then just flash a sense 3.0 rom... like Uber Kingdom RSL6 is the best option out there...
Hope I help...
in all likely hood the day it comes out a rooted version will likely be posted here and if you dont feel like waiting there is a version of the leaked ota here already from what i understand it is mostly stable and most of the stuff works but it is probably going to be tweaked alot more before being pushed out....
Hey guys. I recently rooted my HTC EvO 4G and installed a bunch of custom roms and i wanted to switch back to the stock rom for the EvO. I downloaded the ruu and flashed it and everything's fine, but its running 2.2. I hooked it up to my computer to check for software updates, and it said it had one. I downloaded it and clicked update now. The problem occurred when the update was taking place. It looked like it was updating in recovery.. im not sure.. it said that it could not update and now im stuck with 2.2. Please help??
You could always run Unrevoked to re-root and then flash a stock rooted ROM, that way you'd have the stock feel to the phone so to speak, but still have root access.

But why is it not updating the stock ROM in the first place?

Usually people shut up and take what they get lol but I'm guessing you're S=OFF and why would you go stock when there's many great devs who make awesome roms?
