Ok, I have search, but didn't find anything like this. I am wondering for those that can overclock, what speed do you use for your daily driver? I don't mean what speed you use just to play with benchmarks.
I know the faster you overclock you have more battery drain, so answer honestly!
I'll be first, I normally run at 1.3ghz, but am now trying 1.4ghz to see how much more battery drain I will have. I love my epic, it has always been fast and stable. What I run is in my signature.
If you feel like it, list your rom, kernel, and what you use to set it. It will be cool to see how fast you guys like to run on a daily diet!
I run at 1ghz... But when aosp roms come out probly 800mhz... My phone doesnt lag at all i see no need for overclocking other than banchmarks.

Same as deano, 100-800mhz conservative, 90% of the time, 100-1200 ondemand rare. I UV also so the 100-800mhz really gets great life.
I run at 1400/100 "on demand" all of the time when on Froyo. No undervolting. I have 2 stock batteries so battery life isn't my #1 priority...everything working and stability is and fortunately 1400 is totally stable for me. I saw a greater performance increase from 1300 to 1400 than I did from 1200 to 1300

I can almost echo your findings, except I have been running 1300. Out of curiosity how much more battery did you use when you jumped from 1300 to 1400 if you remember?.
I also undervolt a little more from 600 on down than 800 and up, but I rather have more stable than more undervolt. I can't believe how nice hte eipic is even against the current crop of phones. I love it!
Running "on demand" I have noticed very little difference going up to 1400 because its only there maybe 30 minutes per battery charge. It only uses that top setting when its needed. Keeping the undervolt away from those high states will ensure more stability since most of our phones require the voltage on those overclocked states like 1300 and 1400. If you get -25 or -50 stable on those high states, you are pretty lucky
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I use CFQ and run -50 on 100 - 200 - 300 - 400 - 600 and -25 on 800 - 1000 - 1200 - 1400 and is rock solid thru all of those frequencies.
Do you know if it is better to run less steps, something like 100 - 300 - 600 - 1000 - 1400 rather than how I have it set as above?
Don't forget to vote!

The best way to test stability is to max out both sliders, delect "performance" DON'T SET ON BOOT, and run benchmarks. If it doesn't crash after a few minutes, you should be ok.

Tegrak probably won't work properly if I'm correct set cpu or oc/uv beater should be fine. Tegrak was used for samsung processors. Qualcomm processors are able to scale better at lower or higher frequencies.

It will never engage both cores that is asynchronous. Both processors work independently from each other. This is why you see lag. Both processors are never at their full potential. Qualcomm design the processors for best battery life in mind with good performance. There is a way to get both cores to be synchronized though if it matters to you. But expect worst battery life.

The one we have should also overclock very nicely. The APQ8060 is the same one in the Touchpad and that one easily does 1.9Ghz.
When I installed setcpu and had it auto dectect speeds It atuomatically set the min at the max and the min at the highest clock speed. Is that normal? Did anyone else notice that?

Plus one on NoFrills. I'm using Aeroevans .7bfs kernel set at 1.2ghz and using the Sio I/O on nightly 133. This works well for me. Good balance of speed and battery life.

As far as OC and UV I don't bump it real high, as a matter of fact right now I'm running at 1 ghz (stock speed) if I do OC I'm usually running it at 1.3 ghz.
UV usually a decent is -50 under. Much under that and you could run into freezing up.

it's always cool to do that just for testing purposes but oc'ing your phone to that level will only fry out your cpu faster as well as kill your battery life. not really necessary to oc this phone above 1.3ghz and if you want to save battery uv between -25 to -50.
I have been running 1.4 for a while now. I uv -25, except the top two voltages I leave stock. Might try -50 eventually. Battery life is pretty beasty with smartassv2
Sent from my mobile typewriter with tapatalk
Oh that reminds me actually, when i oc to 1.8 (or is it 1.9, forgot what aero's kernel maxes at) i CANNOT run it at smartassV2
Locks up for me past 1.5ish every time when i'm on smartassv2, i have to switch to smoothass for the phone to work well
However, i've had no problems with smartassv2 below 1.5, which is why i run it on my phone
Can someone post a link to a kernel that runs at the stock 1.5ghz but is undervolted? I don't care about performance. Just want the best battery life. Thanks!!

you can easily limit the CPU to not go over 1.5 or even 1.0
when i really want to save battery i keep CPU at 800 Mhz or 1.0 Ghz
Any of the kernels in the development section can be either under bolted or over clocked. I'm using synergy the way it comes out of the box and its great. Standby battery drain is unbelievable.

yes, we can keep it at 1.5 Ghz with say -0.010v or something like that

Sent from my Incredible using xda premium
The short answer is yes it can but it's not worth it as it's not stable
The long answer is the CPU in the phone isn't really well built to be overclocked from what I've read online. I can't get enough stability with the current voltage max (1375 - which is already 50mV higher than stock and 25mV higher than tiamat). I won't go higher than 1375 and I get nearly instant reboots at the next speed of 1.22ghz. A lot of what I read online suggested 1325 is the max voltage with 1.113 ghz. I have issues above 1.113 ghz myself so I doubt any higher than 1.19 is worth it.
So, if my phone can't run it (probably a lot of phones as well) then I'm not doing it.
Though if you REALLY want higher, Tiamat (AOSP kernel) supports up to about 1.26 ghz but only allows 1350mV max so if you want to try overclocking higher you are welcome to do that. I have a feeling you'd be disappointed though as I don't expect to see stability.
