I upgraded my MDA2 to wm2003SE, no extended rom. It worked okay for a while (some quirks, nothing major). I started installing applications to it (citrix, ring tone programs). I ended up having to cold reset it, as it was hanging a couple of times. I got it back to a working unit, and was able to make and receive calls on the device.
This morning, I went to use it, and all of a sudden, there is a message on the phone saying: "SIM card blocked. Please enter the PUK. You can still make emergency calls if your provider supports it." I can't make any calls, nor do I receive any signal.
I downloaded the xda2unlock app, and attempted to unlock the phone. and it said that the phone was already unlocked!! I'm kind of stuck now, I seem to have a great PDA, but no freaking phone!
Any ideas????
PUK is normally the super pin. DonĀ“t know how it is in the US, bur here in Germany you can enter 3 times the wrong pin. After this you require the super pin (PUK). It shhould be delievered with your mobil contract. It do not have anything to do with the phone....

Thanks,
Man, I'm really having a blonde moment today...not only did I miss the fact that it was sim *b*locked, and not locked, I posted this twice.
Thanks for helping me out on this. I have no idea how simblock got turned on, since I never use a pin on my phone, but its unlocked now.
PUK means Personal Unblocking Code - A code used to unblock a blocked SIM card, obtained from your network or service provider.
Just bring your contract to the Service Provider and they will give you your PUK. You can also change new SIM card keeping your current number.
ok, I am cleaning out the closet and have a pair of Dash's I want to sell off, got the unlock code from T-Mobile for one and am having the devil of a time trying to figure out what to do. The 'insert foreign sim card' ... well stuck in an ATT sim I have (worked FINE on the G1's I want to sell off) gave me the 'enter unlock code' screen, etc...
On the Dash(s), it just freezes up after then phone boots (hangs at the T-Mobile screen), take it out, boots fine (and gives me the 'you don't have a sim card' message. Put in a T-Mobile sim, boots fine.
What noob mistake am I making? (this is with the dead stock WM6 rom, freshly reflashed).

Try and flash a cooked WM 6.1 rom and see if the sim unlock screen pops up.
I tried with a 6.5, will give a 6.1 a shot.
nope, didn't work, tried stock wm6, and a 6.1. This is an ATT 3G sim, wonder if that's the problem.. .gonna see if I can find a wm5 and try that!
Any ideas? Anyone else?
Should work with 6.1, 6.5 has had the problem with not showing the unlock input screen, if you still have problems i would advise getting a different provider pay&go sim and trying....
That's what I'm thinking but it's a brand new sim, and worked on unlocking my two G1's
Maybe the Excalibur doesn't like it? Just try a different sim even if it's just a nick one if m8's for 1-2 mins
Problem is it's TWO Dash's acting the same way. Ran them all the way back to WM5 (stock), WM6, (stock), WM6.1 .. same thing... I did notice that as I powered them off (yes power button would still work) that the top bar would flash by for a sec and it was showing SIM LOCK, before it powered down. So I'm wondering if it's waiting for me to enter (yes tried to enter the code to the frozen screen, don't know what other buttons to push).
The same sim DID do the unlock for a pair of G1's that I'm gonna sell, and then just for giggles I went ahead and activated the ATT GoPhone that it came with successfully. Still the same thing when I tried to do the unlock.
I'm at my wits end... I'll just have to sell them with the unlock code with them or something.. I'm still wondering if it's the ATT 3G sim that the Dash dosen't like... need to dig about and find and old one or something.
Hello,
I've bought an unlcoked Galaxy Nexus about 6 months ago, and everything worked perfectly.. until now.
Recently, I've had problems regarding the SIM Unlock PIN.
When I turn on my device, it requires a code.
I can choose to ignore that message and use my phone in any other way but using mobile network (can't text or call).
From what I understand, my phone has been locked to a specific network and I need to get the code to unlock it.
But I have no idea which network my phone is locked to..
Is there any way to find out?
Also, this has happend before, and I, who don't know what to do with it, took it to a guy who fixed it for me (He changed the Android version and did whatever he did.. I have no idea.)
Last night my phone ran out of battery, and today when I charged and opened it, it was locked again.
I don't know what caused it.
Is there any way to remove it permanently?
If not, can anyone help me remove it temporarily without paying too much money to websites I don't trust (Which require to know the network my phone is locked to, by the way...)?
My friend said that when the Android version changes, so does the code.
My currently Android version is 4.1.1 and I can choose to update it. Would it help?
Thank you, to whoever is willing to try and help me.
Is your phone have a GSM sim card??
Yes, I do.
Help anyone..?
Using my old Tilt 2 on AT&T overclocked to 768 MHz - it still gets the job done.
Recently started considering switching to Straight Talk to save $40/mo but realized I'd need to unlock the device to do so.
Requested and received an unlock code from AT&T, but have not applied it as of yet.
My question is:
1. Can I use an old Tracfone sim during the unlock procedure
2. Most importantly, when I unlock the phone, will it still function the same? Will the unlocking cause a hard reset, or change my connection settings, or wipe out my contacts and other data?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
When I unlocked my AT&T Tilt, it worked just the same as it did before. No change in operations. To be on the safe side, back up your phone before you do the job, and if it has an sd card I'd pull it out...

Hello there, this is my first post here, I searched all the forum but could not find any solution to this.
I have a Optimus G E987. Unrooted, unflashed, with original rom, didn't do anything to the phone yet as I recently got it from a friend.
My friend was under a different carrier that I am. Since his contract had expired I was free to contact his carrier and get the unlock code to unlock my phone by IMEI. After succesfully unlocking the phone, I inserted my old sim card, it was a Standard Sim so I had to trim it to fit on the Micro Sim slot the Optimus G has.
Everything worked beautifully until I started having signal issues, both data and phone.
It does not happen everywhere, but it definetly happens at places I had perfect signal with my old device like my work place. To solve it, most times I can go to the network settings of the phone and choose the auto select option. This restores the service but I lose it again in a few minutes. Sometimes this does not fix a thing and I can not recover service at all.
I know its not a hardware issue as my friend had no signal problems whatsoever. Maybe I need to set up something in my phone to get it to work properly but I am completely clueless. I suspect it may be the sim card as well.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
