Dumb Noob Question: Dash Sim Unlock - HTC Excalibur

ok, I am cleaning out the closet and have a pair of Dash's I want to sell off, got the unlock code from T-Mobile for one and am having the devil of a time trying to figure out what to do. The 'insert foreign sim card' ... well stuck in an ATT sim I have (worked FINE on the G1's I want to sell off) gave me the 'enter unlock code' screen, etc...
On the Dash(s), it just freezes up after then phone boots (hangs at the T-Mobile screen), take it out, boots fine (and gives me the 'you don't have a sim card' message. Put in a T-Mobile sim, boots fine.
What noob mistake am I making? (this is with the dead stock WM6 rom, freshly reflashed).

Try and flash a cooked WM 6.1 rom and see if the sim unlock screen pops up.

I tried with a 6.5, will give a 6.1 a shot.

nope, didn't work, tried stock wm6, and a 6.1. This is an ATT 3G sim, wonder if that's the problem.. .gonna see if I can find a wm5 and try that!
Any ideas? Anyone else?

Should work with 6.1, 6.5 has had the problem with not showing the unlock input screen, if you still have problems i would advise getting a different provider pay&go sim and trying....

That's what I'm thinking but it's a brand new sim, and worked on unlocking my two G1's

Maybe the Excalibur doesn't like it? Just try a different sim even if it's just a nick one if m8's for 1-2 mins

Problem is it's TWO Dash's acting the same way. Ran them all the way back to WM5 (stock), WM6, (stock), WM6.1 .. same thing... I did notice that as I powered them off (yes power button would still work) that the top bar would flash by for a sec and it was showing SIM LOCK, before it powered down. So I'm wondering if it's waiting for me to enter (yes tried to enter the code to the frozen screen, don't know what other buttons to push).
The same sim DID do the unlock for a pair of G1's that I'm gonna sell, and then just for giggles I went ahead and activated the ATT GoPhone that it came with successfully. Still the same thing when I tried to do the unlock.
I'm at my wits end... I'll just have to sell them with the unlock code with them or something.. I'm still wondering if it's the ATT 3G sim that the Dash dosen't like... need to dig about and find and old one or something.

Sim block after upgrade to wm2003

I upgraded my MDA2 to wm2003SE, no extended rom. It worked okay for a while (some quirks, nothing major). I started installing applications to it (citrix, ring tone programs). I ended up having to cold reset it, as it was hanging a couple of times. I got it back to a working unit, and was able to make and receive calls on the device.
This morning, I went to use it, and all of a sudden, there is a message on the phone saying: "SIM card blocked. Please enter the PUK. You can still make emergency calls if your provider supports it." I can't make any calls, nor do I receive any signal.
I downloaded the xda2unlock app, and attempted to unlock the phone. and it said that the phone was already unlocked!! I'm kind of stuck now, I seem to have a great PDA, but no freaking phone!
Any ideas????
Hi there Toast,
You are confusing two different things. Your'e problem is not a sim-lock, but a sim-block. The difference is that a sim-block can be lifted by entering a code (PUCK) which you should have gotten with your'e sim-card, at least that is how it is done here in The Netherlands.
So just get you're puck code and enter it into your'e phone and the problem should be solved.
Normally a sim-blocj happens when you wrong-key your sim code three times.
Omg,
I can't beleive I missed that....jeesus, not only am I blonde, I'm a complete retard this morning!
That definitely helps me out,! I have no idea what my sim unblock code is, but I know where I can get it from!
Hey ****,
thanks sooooo much. Called At&Tingular, and they gave me the unblock puk. I have no idea how it got blocked in the first place, but it's fixed now. Thanks again!

PUK is normally the super pin. DonĀ“t know how it is in the US, bur here in Germany you can enter 3 times the wrong pin. After this you require the super pin (PUK). It shhould be delievered with your mobil contract. It do not have anything to do with the phone....

Thanks,
Man, I'm really having a blonde moment today...not only did I miss the fact that it was sim *b*locked, and not locked, I posted this twice.
Thanks for helping me out on this. I have no idea how simblock got turned on, since I never use a pin on my phone, but its unlocked now.
PUK means Personal Unblocking Code - A code used to unblock a blocked SIM card, obtained from your network or service provider.
Just bring your contract to the Service Provider and they will give you your PUK. You can also change new SIM card keeping your current number.

Slide a piece of paper in back of your sim card. Some times sim cards are not fat enough to get in contact with the sim reader. No one knows when your kaiser starts behaving like sim card isnt fat enough, it did for me 2 months ago and till now I have a piece of paper to do the remedy :|

Currently Android doesnt support locked sim cards. If you are using Haret Install, you need to PIN unlock your sim card before running Haret, or otherwise install Android on NAND only with an unlocked, right out of the box working sim card.
I know its bad but its this way. Here we usually block PUK code if our sim cards are lost / stolen

[Q] wildfire + network

hey, new to the site and new to the wildfire and im already having a few problems.
i just bought mines off my uncle, who always used it on o2-ire without any problems. he never used any uk simcard because he thought the fone was locked.
i tried my simcard and it says "your simcard does not allow connect to this network" or "error while searching for network". as it wouldnt find a network i figured it was locked, so i went and bought an unlock code.
problem is, i cant find where to put it. i turn the fone on with a simcard (ive tried a few on different networks), and it never asks me for the code, yet it still cant find a network.
ive tried my girlfriends mothers o2-ireland and that still works.
just wondering why it works for o2-ireland and not on my o2-uk or vodafone-uk and doesnt ask for the network unlock code.
sorry if this seems jumbled and rambeling, im just trying to explain everything.
thanks in advance for any help.
Get a different carrier similar card. Not the ones you have been using. Put it in and boot the phone, it should come up with a screen telling you to input the code to unlock. Some Sims just don't give you the screen
Try a 3 sim if you can.
sent from my android powered beast!
crap, everyone i know is o2. ill ask about, ill see if someone has a different sim network, i think my girlfriends sister is vodafone-ireland, i could try that and see. thanks for the fast reply, ill give it a shot

Wild simlock appeared!

Ok, i have some strange problem here.
I bought my Xperia Play few years ago on auction without simlock.
I used it with my t-mobile card for some time.
Recently, i fixed it by replacing flex cable and install stock rom/kernel, then Hyper Gamer rom/kernel.
I get Play sim card with free internet lying around, so i put it in.
Phone wanted some "network unlock PIN" so i type some random numbers and it worked.
Now, my phone have sim lock to Play network.
I don't have any unlock codes, since this phone never had sim lock.
In addition, i can't type *#*#7378423#*#*, because after typing last "*" everything disappears.
I tried reinstalling rom, but with no effect.
I will be thankful for any help.
Nvm, now everything is working for no reason
