[Q] Leedroid vs. Reflex S - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
can somebody tell me the differences between leedroid and reflex s?
which one is better?
advantages?
disadvantages?
leedroid:

reflex s:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054435
thx & greetz Tom

I'd voted for Neophyte since I found his roms and kernels n1 from the first day I rooted my Desire. But given the fact he is no longer developing I'd have to say probably Leedroid is the better option since he throws some updates at his Desire users from time to time.

Reflex for now...

Nobody can say what's better for you because it depends on your personal preferences.
SwiftKeyed from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App

I love Reflex

thx for your answers so far, but i'd be interested in WHY you like which better..
have you tried both of them?
did you have problems with one of them?

i know in general.. but i think those two roms are very similar to each other, aren't they?
i'm searching for a stable rom (that's important!) with gingerbread and htc sense (as new as possible)..

Both are good, but marr is right - try them because its preference... I chose reflex - but when i'm in the mood i change - just because i want to

The first custom i flashed was Reflex. Initially i was pleased with it, but after a while i noticed it lags and hangs too many times. Especially when i power on the phone. It will crash and restarts the phone 2 times. Now I'm using leedroid hd and so far i find it more smoother and faster than reflex.

ok, thx for your replies

[Q] The best custom ROM for HTC Desire?

Hello everyone!
I am new to android platform, and those days i was reading a lot about custom ROM's. Today i bought new HTC Desire, which comes with Android 2.1. I want to install some custom ROM, which is on Android 2.2. I readed a lot about openDesire, and i want to ask you, can you tell me which ROM is the best?
2.1. on my phone is fast, but i watched some videos on youtube, that is running 2.2, and it seems a lot faster than 2.1.
Btw i would like that custom ROM have HTC Sense.
Thanks!
First of all, OpenDesire doesn't have Sense. There really is no "best" rom. I like Pinky's rom, but others prefer LeeDroid or even different ones. There are a lot of roms with Sense and most are pretty good.
Modaco custom rom by paul new release worth a thought.
I'm flashing my first rom tonight, but unfortunately have to downgrade h boot first

For me it has to be Pirate Rum rom (download through Rom manager). It has virtually no bugs I can see and a great battery life. A very understated rom in my opinion.
I tried pirate rum last night, froyo sense version, and got stuck in a bootloop.. could be something I'm doing but ill try pink and let you know what I think

Can someone recommend me a rom, and give a proper guide to it: I want it to have HTC Sense, nice battery life, and that GPU+ hack, there's a thread about it.
Good battery life?
Forget it.
For the rest try Modaco custom rom r9

Undisputed best ROM for HTC Desire is MiUi
Over last year or more, I have tried several custom ROMs for HTC Desire, from LeeDroid, Cyanogen, ownhere, NeoPhyte and few others, but since I came across MiUi, I have not looked for anything else because this just simply is the BEST ROM for HTC Desire.
Have a look at it for yourself -
miui-au.com
Strange that Oxygen has not been mentioned in this thread, it is a really great stable ROM (Battery consumption is good too).
I suggest you to give a try on it.
Note that for the moment the camera recording is not working (have a look at the first 2 posts in the oxygen thread).
I really like the Cyanogenmod 7 (build 25)
Works really good so far.

I find that Oxygen isn't that stable at all or fast and a little laggy. No idea if it's just my phone but it seems that way with they others as well. I am going to try it again tonight to see if it has been improved since the last time I used it.
MIUI-Au is an extremely fast rom, faster than the other Froyo roms. I guess selecting a rom for yourself you need to test them and see which you like.

all ginger roms will remain laggy until right drivers come in.
who ever says its not lagging is blind or is used to lag by using sense rom
I used to use miui, then went to lee droid, then back to miui. I think I have.found perfection in insert coin by baad newz. Best battery for a sense based rom.
Just remembered: used alex hd also for a while but there were way too many lags after a few days. The rom might be in its infancy then
I am using NeoPhyTe Mod (1.8) and this fits the best to my needs and my taste...

Cyanogen vs DeFrost vs OpenDesire

I wonder if this thread is legal or not XD I would like to see how many responds I will get for this stats =)
We love our Desire(s) and our Desire(s) won't be that great without these souls XD This is not a competition or as such. It is just to see how many people are actually using these custom roms and their favours on them
And this poll is just for CM/DF/OD's users If I have an option "None of them" then people will ask why don't I put other roms as well. The point is: There are so many of them out there and we all know where they come from.

Why? I would like to know the differences.
I have tried defrost and i like the defrost setup and cyanogen settings.
I like the fact that through defrost setup i can change kernel and mv and mhz
as well as tweaking status bar from settings.
Does opendesire and CM offer these things?
defrost is best
This is going to be very biased - everyone has there own opinion.
However, those that vote MUST have used all the ROM's otherwise how do they know that one is better than the other??????
None of the above - LeeDroid w/ brightsilence.
Stock Android = bleugh ugliness.

yup, DeFrost and OpenDesire are based on Cyanogenmod. Cyanogenmod is based on Google Android source, so then it must also be the same as the Android HTC sells? Start thinking people.
I tried Cyanogenmod at first and was very unhappy. Too few Desire users, too few Desire specific modifications, like up to date black theme. It also was full with bloatware (Amazon MP3, ADW Launcher) and I wasn't able to deinstall them with ADB completely. Don't know why. It also had some hick ups and consumed a lot of battery in my opinion, at least became the Desire hotter than usual.
Then I switched over to OpenDesire after I read that it is based on CM, thus also supports Bluetooth HID. Less bloatware, much slimmer and faster because no laggy ADW Launcher. Huge Userbase, with a up to date black theme with the circle battery mod. Overclocking features, etc. Perfect for me. And it runs fine at the moment and everything works as it should.
I haven't tried DeFrost yet, and won't plan to do it. The differences are marginal and to be honest, I don't really know what exactly the differences are. I just preferred OD because it seemed to me as if more users use it and AdamG releases more updates faster. I also decided to use OD because I have heard of it before several times, not so DeFrost.
However, OD and so should DeFrost, are much better than CM for us Desire users. Better optimized and more features for the Desire and much better support.
i tried them all in my search for a stock rom to compare it with my sense one.....and i must say that without saying cyanogen and defrost aren't good, OPENDESIRE is the best....very fast and very stable with customized options that do a lot of things....that's my opinion

In my opinion the question is not "Witch is the best Android 2.3 rom for HTC Desire ?", it is " Witch of these Android 2.3 roms is more suitable for me ?"
I say that becouse i try all the roms from the launch of HTC Desire until now and i like all of them. I`ve had miui rom for like an haf a year at the start, becouse i didn`t like so much Android 2.2 froyo, then i migrate to the cook of devs around XDA, and CM7, Oxygen also.
I think that, when you have a free day, you should try these roms: MIUI, CM7, the one made by baadnewz, it`s much stable than the others for now, the one made by Alex (i like his roms from when he start doing stuff for HTC Desire).
I think these is the big categories made by me.
Personaly i like and use for now the one made by baadnewz (the stable v1.0.8)
If youd like effects you shoud try MIUI first.
If youd like simplicity and speed you shoud try CM7.
If youd like sense and a little speed you shoud try the one made by baadnewz.
Without anger, i apreciate all the work from all the devs around here. I have a big respect upon them (i`m not able to do anything then flash a rom )
This is just my opinion.
MIUI of course
I think the question is incorrect. Everyone chooses what he likes, what fits his needs more.
Want latest HTC Sense, that was not designed for Desire, but theoretically can run there - go for RCMixS
Want slim and quick but naked ROM - go for Oxigen
What pros of CM I don't know. Basically it's like fat Oxygen, with added features.
Despite they look different, but have very similar concept of UI. MIUI has different approach, which for my taste is much more successful. As it claims on MIUI official website, it takes best of Android and iPhone. Totally agree. Tried latest RCMixS after I tested MIUI and couldn't keep it even couple days, returned back to MIUI.
But it's of course my opinion.
Non-existent!

Sorry, but there's no such thing as "the best ROM" for any device. There's ROM's you like and ROM's you don't. That's like asking what's the best film, or best music track, or best food. Everyone has their own opinion which is why life is so much fun!
Personally, I've been using Baadnewz InsertCoin Nightly for weeks (now on v43). Superb Gingerbread ROM and lot's of great features from Sense 3 too
I prefer insertcoin. Very fast, no lags, bugs - everything is ok
This is Development forum and I believe this thread needs to be moved.
And I rather prefer Oxygen Everyone basically likes different ROM, but better one is with smaller amount of bugs

Hi.
I´m addicted to InsertCoin too.
If you want a Great ROM , Insertcoin will be your daily driver ))
I User IC v43, withe Alex Diaz Theme 13 (Found on IC Downloadpage too)
But i suggest, you download 2-3 ROM´s you "like", and install them, and find out which one is Great for you
Greez
Joachim
stop spamming here its a dev section
Since I got the phone with Sense on it I take preference to Sense ROMS, I have also tried MIUI and AOSP ROMS like Cyanogen and GingerVillain all of them offer something that the other would be lacking.
So for me out of the 3 variants these are what I use,
• Sense ROM: Reflex S
• AOSP ROM: GingerVillain
• MIUI ROM: MIUI XJ
I use all of them and I change every few weeks when I feel for a change of scenery, they all for are the best ROM because they are made by the best developers.
As for the BEST ROM for you, thats is your decision!!!
A very generic question in a wrong section.
Hi,
I think this post is usefull so different users can state why they choose this or that ROM.
In my case I currently use MIUI (from XJ) mostly because that ROM is fast, has a very nice interface, the menus are very different from stock android, the phone/dial and messages apps are great. However sometimes I get some FCs in Camera app so sometimes I like to install the Leedroid Sense ROM as I also like he Sense UI. However in the last Leedroid ROMs the notifications area is too transparent so some notifications are hard to see (not sure if you can change that) so I get back to MIUI.
After reading this thread I'm now going to try the insertcoin ROM and maybe the CM7. The only thing with non sense roms is the phone/dial app, even apps like Go Contacts are not as fast and usefull as the one with sense or MIUI.
Of course there's no such thing as the best ROM, but for each person there are some ROMS that are better.
Cheers.
There is no best rom. It depends on personal preferences.

Ok so change the question a bit. Whats the fastest rom "Benchmark wise" the fastest i have found is oxygen 2.1.3 all others are slightly slower. Also another question i have is can you flash things from one gb rom to another like for example "Volume button music track skip?" from cm7 to gingervillian?

[Q] Cyanogen 7 vs. Android Revolution?

Hey guys, as the title really!
I've been a long term user of Android Revolution (flashed the day I got my Desire HD!) but I've recently switched to Cyanogen 7 to check it out, and I'm pretty impressed.
Mike1986 has just released 5.1.10 which looks awesome, I'm just wondering if anyone has any comparisons between the two ROMS in term of speed/battery life?
Thanks!
I have tried a few sense roms(including AR) and cyanogenmod pretty much beats them in every aspect(speed, battery life, general usability)...
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
If you want the stock HTC Sense look and feel then go with Android Revolution. However if you want Android as Google intended then use Cyanogenmod.
Personally i liked both ROM's but i just couldn't give up Sense in the end.
I'm guessing they're both similar in terms of optimisation and performance tweaks? ARHD boasts a massive amount of tweaks in their thread but I can't seem to find much regarding C7.
AR is fast and the life span of the battery is quit good but the gps signal was very poor compare to CM7 is really good on detecting gps signal. So far was not much comment except the gps problem from the sense rom.
I really like CyanogenMod more even though I love some of the functions on Sense like the clock and usb connection features eg: internet passthrough.
I tried out Android Revolution HD but in the end I went back to CyanogenMod. ARHD is just not as fast because of Sense and it takes a lot longer to boot up too.
I am using ARHD and i am very impressed, by now i dont have any intention to change it

If you wanted to read over the tweaks list for CM7 you'd have to invest a couple of hours of your time! While ARHD has plenty of tweaks, these are essential modifications of the stock ROM. CM7 is built from the ground up and has low level code modifications from some very bright minds indeed. From kernel and driver tweaks to the ARM optimisations, CM7 is always a step ahead in this respect.
Regards.
I don't use rosie (or any of the sense widgets therefore) but do like some of the sense apps - people, dialer, calendar etc are all better than stock. Does cyanogen keep these?
I used ARHD no sense for a while (tested CM 6 and a few others) but since CM7 was released I will stick to it. Simply the best and fastest rom in my opinion.
Latest CM7 Nightly + LordMod UE UUV + 26.09.04.11 Radio seems to be the best combination for my DHD
In my opinion Android Revolution is better, because it looks better for me.

WHAT!?!?!?! LOL!!! Dude, headset is working perfectly! I'm using it almost every day. The thing is that you have to configure your phone properly. It can easily be messed up by music apps.
Shinobee and Dod6 - you can configure CM7 to make it look the way you want. If you put a little work into it, the UI may look waaay better that Sense and won't require that much from the phone.
Just flashed arhd the other day and thought it was very nice, I've moved onto virtuous unity 2.39 now and I must say that I find it much smoother and more responsive. I'm probably gonna stick with this for a while but I've decided that my next ROM must be non sense so add to broaden my horizons, likely to be cyanogen 7 as a first choice.

Which Rom?

Which rom would you say is the most stable and fasted for the htc desire?
there seems to be too much of a choice?
any specific ones?
It all comes down to personal preference in the end.
I always preferred the AuraxTSense ROMs from Neophyte but I do not like the newer Aurax ROMs so I have gone to Ginger Villain and find it to be just great.
I've tried every ROM except the MIUI ones and the Oxygen ROM. CM7 is quite good and more than enough people enjoy it's stability, but it is not for me I don't think. I like the way GV is a customised version of it.
I still prefer the old Sense ROMs but maybe it's because I just prefer the look of them. LeeDroid ROMs are incredibly stable and fast, so I suggest to start there. His LeeDroid 2.5.0 is a great build and if you feel like a Gingerbread experience, go for the GB version of LeeDroid instead.
I originally went with LeeDroid, so I feel it is a good start for others.

Best sense based rom is insert coin a2sd or cm7. both are stable, fast with sense 3.0. Go for it.

CM7 is a very fast and stable ROM.. its not Sense based but I think its very close to it. Use the s2e app to overcome the internal storage issues inevitable with Desires and you'll not only have a fast stable ROM but you'll also have a lot more space for apps
PS. this is the first ROM I flashed, for a newcomer its a very easy starter

With things like this, advice and recommendation can only go so far ..
Like some of the replies above, some of the most popular ones are e.g.
CM7
LeeDroid
Oxygen
I run the ladder and am greatly satisfied.

I can recommend the AcesMod007 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113070
It's quite new, but it's a very stable and good Hybrid ROM of Sense 2.1/3.0 and gets many Updates. Besides it's very fast and saves Battery quite a lot.
Using Leedroid from its begining now on 3.0.8.2 Data++. No problems at all.
BR
MIUI roms have useful feature and very customizable. u should try them.
You will go through several roms until you find one that you like (I have had my desire since launch so i went through loads )
As far as speed goes i would say go for rom without Sense, CM7 for example.
I used Leedroid for a long time and can not fault it.
However in the end I settled for this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988570
It does require a bit more fiddling than most roms, but as long as you read the guide/FAQ you should have no problems.
I have been running this rom for a couple of months and have had no problems at all.
I'm currently using CM7, but I really do miss aspects of Sense which I sacrificed in favour of improved battery life and speed. The browser on CM7 just isn't as pleasant to use, and I really do like and use various Sense widgets. I love the notification screen in CM7 with the wifi/BT/GPS options, but it just doesn't feel quite right to me. MIUI looks a bit much like an iOS for my tastes, though I may give it a shot at some point.
Currently trying to flash AceSRom007 and having my fair share of trials and tribulations with it. The actual look of the ROM is wonderful, but I may have to flash back to stock to try and get it to work.
on my desire I have installed sgbs rom...most reactive and stable
As was stated above, it comes down to personal preference mostly.
In terms of speed, I didn't notice big differences between the commonly used ROMs as a non-expert user.
I tried CM7, Oxygen, Insertcoin, Reflex, and now experimenting with MIUI, which fits me well for now
The best thing you can do, is try out a few of them for a few days, and choose that, which appeals the most to you.
You need to download and experiment. Oxygen is blazing fast AOSP rom, CM7 has more features and is slower than Oxygen, MIUI is the iPhone lookalike if you want anything like that, and there is this gargantuan selection of Sense roms which are slower but give you the Sense experience.
And when you say a "rom based on original rom", you mean with HTC Sense?
As AOSP you can try Oxygen and CM7. On the other hand if you want to stay in sense GUI try LeeDroid, sgbs and AceSmod007. I'm using the last of them and I'm very satisfied.
