Hi guys. Lately I seem to be going paranoid, so here is a question for you all. How safe are my personal files, pictures, keepass databases etc if they are located on the sd card of my desire which is always connected to the internet? Could someone hack into my phone and download them?
Thanks for your time.

The answer is no. To get hacked you have to be stupid and purposefully do it or get a virus on your phone.

They should not be able to do that unless u somehow got a virus onto your phone.

Thanks for the responses guys! The question that begs to be asked now, is what anti-virus / anti-trojan you would recommend?
Is it avgfree or lookout? Or is there some other choice?
Thanks once again!

Fizzerr is in fact correct. As long as you don't install any suspicious applications, that specifically have the permissions to access your SDcard and are specifically programmed to act as a virus and upload your data to the application author, then nothing could go wrong.

Ive searched for ages and nothing helps me?! why is so hard to open .xml's should there be an editor around somewhere that can do the job?
Someone please help before i set my laptop on fire

So why is it mentioned in almost every tutorial for editing xml? You sure your doing everything right?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Trust me it doesn't work. It can only open standard XML files not android ones which are different
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
They're Binary XML files. Easiest solution would be to decompile the apk containing the XML files using Apk Manager and then editing them.
If viewing is all you're interested in, AXMLPrinter2 is simpler.
Otherwise try UltraEdit. This tool can open almost all formats.

Not sure, but it could be missing some lib files. Or if you're trying to use it on sense 1.0, it could be a framework compatibility issue.

Hi, does anyone know how and where to get HD YouTube apk that works with our phone?
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
try changing the phone's resolution. i've noticed that when i set mine to x720, even opera browser's interface changed. the menu is no longer a bar at the bottom but like on the upper left, if im not mistaken. and yeah, i remember youtube being crisper. look for lcd resolution at the market to set screen res.
I'm no genius on the matter, but I think you would need a phone that supports the HD resolution which currently are only a select few with ours out of the picture.
There is enough hate in the world. Why can't we all get along here ...?
The thing is I have the Galaxy Nexus
And it has a YouTube app. That shows the videos in HD. I know our phone doesn't have HD screen but that doesn't matter it can downscale and it will still look crisp.

Hmmmm. It might just not work bro
The new YouTube comes part of gapps with ICS so you would need to have ICS framework most likely to make it work. The new gmail app is also like that as well.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
i guess you guys missed my point. the gnexus version might have a compatibility update just to make it work with ics. but to make youtube's hd look better our phone, we must have an hd screen or at least make the youtube app think that we do.
change your phones resolution from x480 to x720 (using lcd resolution app from the market) and youll see apps like youtube and opera browser detect your phone's res and adapt to it.
HD vids on a fake 720 res is much better than on our native x480's youtube hd vids. opera browser's interface changes just by changing the phone's res. try it and youll see what im talking about.
what it boils down to is, we need someone to make the youtube app think our screen is at least x720. that might work.

Look in the Android General section of XDA. You'll find tons of animations, but look for ones that fit your device's resolution (960x540, qHD for RAZR M)
You can use any animation that suites you, but those not fit for qHD screens will either be shrunk or too large.

i don't think any of them contain audio. for some reason, DEVs seem to dislike audio for boot animations. I enjoy them, but given that I rarely reboot my phone now (going on 234 hours since last reboot...I know, I know...I should reboot twice a week, but I'm testing to see how long I can go, and my phone still performs better than ever!), I just don't see the need to add audio. if you wanted to add audio, then you could by inserting a wav file (I think save it as *.ogg or something like that) in the system/media folder (or some place similar to that).
I believe I read that only some kernels allow the sound to be changed on boot animations. So animation creators don't include it in the file normally.

Did you name it powerone or poweron? If you added "e" at the end, maybe that's why it didn't work.
