Android security. Personal files safe? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. Lately I seem to be going paranoid, so here is a question for you all. How safe are my personal files, pictures, keepass databases etc if they are located on the sd card of my desire which is always connected to the internet? Could someone hack into my phone and download them?
Thanks for your time.
Aalex

The answer is no. To get hacked you have to be stupid and purposefully do it or get a virus on your phone.

They should not be able to do that unless u somehow got a virus onto your phone.

Thanks for the responses guys! The question that begs to be asked now, is what anti-virus / anti-trojan you would recommend?
Is it avgfree or lookout? Or is there some other choice?
Thanks once again!

Best AntiVirus is common sense.

Fizzerr is in fact correct. As long as you don't install any suspicious applications, that specifically have the permissions to access your SDcard and are specifically programmed to act as a virus and upload your data to the application author, then nothing could go wrong.

cannot get the result of quadrant benchmark

hi all,
whichever rom i flashed, i cannot get the result of quadrant benchmark. it keeps rolling and rolling and rolling sooooooo long on "sending benchmark results". any idea?
If you are using the standard edition, check if you have an internet connection. Quadrant standard requires an internet connection to process and display the results.

But the market one should work with the desire.(I installed it to test it out and it worked.) Wonder why do you have to get from the internet specifically.

Are you talking about some custom ROM? Coz I don't see any change. I have to manually clear my eMMC. Is there any way the to automatically store files received via bluetooth to external memory? Thanx!

No. I'm not talking about any Custom ROM. It's about our Stock ROM. After the update of 2.9.xx... files get received directly to external Storage card in /downloads/Bluetooth/.

Just rooted but an app does not work

I have just rooted my dads desire. I made some space in the internal storage which is good. But my dads most important app good for enterprise has validation failure and closed itself down. I dont know what to do and how to get it working again. Any suggestions on fixing it or making the app work again?

Indeed check for the app compatibility with the different Android version, even if it passes the parsing check it may still fail to run Also, did you install and run any a2sd script?

Hi Ethan
It might be worth running fix permissions - I had a similar issue with contact photos not showing in the SMS application.
Sorry if I sound a bit thickheaded

Do you mean the stock ROM?
Even so after fixing permissions, its not working.

I am not urgent but what does fix permissions do? And how could it solve my problem which it didn't. Anyone else experiencing the same problem?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
yeah it only work when you wipe and reinstall the rom!
but if you don't want to wipe your data you cango to each album and play it and press back and do it with others the albumart will work correctly now!
Delete the files from your sd card and then copy them back over from the original source
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Still not working, this might change everything, but somehow some album art work is showing, some aren't. They had always appeared before my root and wipe.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Well even after i rooted my phone its showing random pics for the music tracks without an album art and when i delete the pic, it just puts another one. Is there a solution?

Hy guys
i've just rooted my one x with jdroid rom and now i can't find my sd card on my phone. it's show's that i have only 2GB on phone space. the rest of my 24 or 25 gb is nowhere...help ?
I am glad I am not the only one but I found a way out with an album art downloader app. Search it up in the play store. Revert to stock sense ROM and check if it fixes your problem. It could be the ROM that is causing it.

No, because as far as I know, it's part of the launcher (although it can be updated through the play store). Ensure its not subscribed to anything and that it it's set to sync as little as possible.
turned off all of your auto update.

That does not delete it. If you want to really delete it too probably need root and system access. And have knowledge about adapting apk files. Maybe it's possible to remove some code from the prism.apk to actually true disable it. But that's kinda difficult i guess.
