I don't want to sound dumb here but this dinc2 is nuthing like my tbolt so I guess my question is when you flash any Rom will it chnge kernels to be able to overclock? Or do I have to flash a stock rooted kernel? If so could someone pm or post a link? I'm on gb 2.3.3 with a 2.6.35-9 stock rooted s-off.

Several of the new ROM's have overclocked kernals (should be listed in the Rom description). There are also kernals you can flash in the Dinc2 Development forum....TIAMAT for AOSD Rom's and Jcase has one for Sense Rom's. They both seem to work pretty well.

I am rooting my 2.2 phone tonight and all I want to do is get rid of the damn 30fps cap, remove bloatware and keep everything else pretty much stock. Is it possible to load a custom kernel when using a stock rom or do I need to use a custom rom as well? I really like how sense integrates facebook into the contacts and don't want to lose that.
Also, any kernel/rom recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I have an 003 evo with a Novatek screen.

Most custom kernels work with any ROM, as long as they are for the same build! I put emphasis on this because if you use the wrong ROM/Kernel/Radio combo, you could brick your phone. So do so very carefully. Only use a kernel/radio if it is built for a specific build number.
So I need to find a kernel that is for the 3.26.651.6 build that I want to install? Do you know which kernel will work?
I've had good luck with netarchy's kernels(currently using v4.18). You can find them in the dev section. Using a stock ROM here.

i just flashed this today, so far i'm pretty impressed and liking it, especially since i'm also using Netarchy's HTC OTA froyo final build, both work perfect together so far, i've seen my fps so far bounce to 47fps, lol, sweet.
Thanks for the input guys. I used netarchy's kernel with the rooted 2.2 rom that got installed during the 2.2 root process. It works great and looks awesome, it's so smooth.

Hello Everyone;
I have a Droid X running stock ROM version 2.2 I have rooted to remove bloatware but have not done much else. I am interested in using setcpu but do not want to do so unless I can monitor CPU temp. I am wondering where to find the kernel for this, what is it called, and how do I install it step-by-step.
Sorry if this has already been answered but I have been searching for quite some time and can not seem to find the answer.
Thanks For the help.

I have a rooted HTC desire, running on froyo 2.2, with custom rom, I used Unrevoked 3, I also unlocked my phone. I thought after doing all this I would get all of the Orange bloatwear off, this is very frustrating can any one help, or am I being a trifle dense?
You need a custom ROM based on either stock Sense or AOSP, there are plenty about so go take a look in the Development forum
Your poll makes no sense, btw

Apologies for the poling this is 1st time post, I'm the oldest virgin blogger in town
Seriously, thanks for the suggestion I'll try the stock rom and post back tommorrow thanks for the help.
Sorry if this is a noob question but I did quite a bit of searching and could not find anything.
Is it possible to install stock google roms on a DZ? I would really like to install the latest version then have it update itself by OTA. My phone is rooted and currently running Cyanogen Mod 7.1.
Thanks!
Id stick with cm7 from my personal experience its close to stock android Rome and it runs remarkably well

Yes, it is possible to run stock android roms on a DZ, there are several different variants out there right now. Just for example there's virtuous g-lite (look in the dev section or on virtuous' homepage) which is currently on version 2.3.5 I believe. A more up-to-date rom seems to be this one: 2.3.7 (please read the op, some issues still remain).
Though, as far as I know, you will not be able to receive OTAs as these are pushed to your phone by your carrier. If you want to receive OTAs on a DZ you will have to revert back to a stock sense rom.
Any ROM that works on the G2 works on the Desire Z (as long as you are rooted and S-Off, which you obviously are if you are on CM7). So if you want, just go to the Developement section and you will find pre-rooted versions of the G2 AOSP ("stock Google") ROMs. But make sure the ROM is pre-rooted. If you install an "official" ROM that is not pre-rooted, you will lose root, and need to go through the whole process again.
will the official ics realease for our sgs2 be able to be rooted the same way via push cwm using odin and then flashing su. just asking because i like running a stock rooted rom. thanks!
I'm sure once someone releases a rooted one it will be. Of course the leak that TDJ has in the development thread is already rooted and pretty much all stock as well.
Cheers
Hmm...when ICS is released, how would I running a custom rom...go about getting the update? Would I have to resort back to stock, would I even be notified, or better to wait for another custom rom?

Yeah, stock with nothing frozen, deleted, and have stock 3e recovery. If device management is frozen or removed from your rom you wont get a notification.
I would wait for custom or a stock rooted will be available shortly after release, im sure
Ok, thanks....guess I'll wait then. Don't feel like really going back...to go forward, Lol.

ICS roms are in full swing now, so anything Google delivers the developers will top. The whole point of custom roms is to do what the phone was not designed to do by google. We have some good ICS roms all ready and as android evolver so will our developers. Remember most of them have 2 year contracts like us so they have the knowledge how to make their phones better and share with us. FYI ICS wont be pushed to our device for quite a while, and to answer your question no one knows, so root now lol anyupdates will be in a rom shortly after that.
Rooted is always better. People always come out with a cool rooted/debloated rom the day after. I've never regretted rooting any phone. My chick's bionic is even rooted. She loves adfree and the other benefits of rooting.

I want to install ICS but I don't know if I need to unroot. Thanks in advance.
I updated to ICS via Kies without UNrooting. It did not seem to be an issue. Then I rooted the ICS with the original root steps from galaxys2root.com It is not rooted on ICS

Forgot to mention, the ICS (at least for myself and a few others)...seems to be a little bit laggy. It has become better since I have let it sit for a while and do it's thing, and a couple of reboots, but I still think the Gingerbread ROM was "less laggy". Also, T-mobile made some changes to the ROM so that the wifi tethering apps (Barnacle, wifi tether, etc..) don't work. Someone has stated that they have been able to get them to work (see the thread in the Q&Q section), but I have not been able to duplicate the result.
