okay, a rather strange issue. Not too annoying but make my Desire HD feel "not perfect"
I recently flashed ARHD 5.2.5 with matching radio, super wipe and stuff, everything went smooooooth and working flawlessly. And when i began customizing the phone to my taste, i stumbled into this little problem
I try to get more notification sound from HTC hub, but it keep saying that it couldn't connect to HTC sense server, but if i open ringtone page, (in fact anything beside notification sound), it worked fine. So, it seems like my phone cannot access notification sound in HTC hub.
tried wipe cache, but no luck, tried delete htc sense account still no luck. Anybody can help me ?
bumpy bump
I've got the same thing going on and I didn't do a full wipe, just up from 5.2.4. My guess would be it's an HTC related issue.
Yes mate, HTC hub has been behaving strange since the day it launched. the notification sound you accessed was already downloaded before its got disconnected.

I can't help, but all the rooting action (so to speak) is over on modaco. That's where the guide originated and it's pretty active at the moment so you might have better luck over there.

I posted this @ modaco, but nobody is replying
Oh well. But you can always go back to the original ROM, if you can't get this fixed.
Apps2SD is confirmed now for the next Android update so you won't have long to wait for that.
Hi there guys,
Since today the speaker on the back of the Desire seems to be broken.
First I thought it was something like a driver bug or whatever because I flashed my Desire to Froyo (DeFrost 0.7) yesterday evening, but even after reseting and flash back to the stock ROM, it still isnt working.
Could this be a software error in ANY way or is the speaker just broken and I have to send it to HTC?
lol.. allright guys. The Desire seems to be made of pretty cheap plastic.. i removed the battery cover and pressed on the speaker a few times.. suddenly the music began to play. Looks like "kicking against stuff to make it work" works with the desire
Hey,
I know theres a lot of threads about htc/android phones freezing and crashing/rebooting but none of them really described my exact situation. And since it's getting worse and worse and driving me crazy, I wanted to ask for help.
As the title suggests my HTC Desire keeps freezing and crashing (sometimes rebooting, too).
It all probably started shortly before I first rooted my device, following the great sticky noob-tutorial. First problem was, that sometimes my phone wouldn't wake up from standby, especially after I a missed call (rooting didn't solve that problem).
Some time later, now rooted and with a custom ROM, I noticed, that sometimes when I wanted to use my phone, it showed the PIN-screen, which obviously means, that it rebooted quietly (don't remember if this also happened before rooting).
A few days ago it started to completely freeze, when connected to the charger. Orange LED showed it was charging but no reaction to pressing any buttons or disconnect the charger.
Since yesterday it also crashes randomly in standby mode (can't wake it up) or e.g. when watching a video (just freezes the device, no reaction to button-pressing, screen stays on etc.)
now I am running the stability test with the charger connected - no problem for 1h10min til now...
The ROM I am running is the latest cool sense (problems also existed before the latest update)
No modification of CPU (I used to use SetCPU but since I thought that would cause the problems I uninstalled it -> no improvement)
What could be the problem here? (And how can I solve it, of course?)
Anything else than a full wipe, which could help? (that would be my last option...)
Thanks for helping...
it just happened again -.-
I was just backing up some apps with titanium backup and in the middle of scrolling through the list - freeze!
dunno what to do...
is this hardware or software related?...
Hello.
It would be pretty easy if it is a soft problem. This kind of problems are usually dealt with by installing another ROM and see if the problems persist. So if you want to try and eliminate the last option, go and install another ROM, it can be a Stock ROOT-ed ROM, Sense or anything.
The fact that you mentioned your phone was crashing even before rooting got me thinking it is a motherboard fault. I've read some threads in which people had the same problems, and in the end they all got to the same conclusion: motherboard fault. The only resolve with this is to get it to guarantee.
So first of all try installing another ROM and if the problems persist, you will need to install a RUU and see if this one eliminates your problem. If not then I don't know if there is anything else you could do, besides getting it to the guarantee.
I wait for your progress.
Hi,
thanks for your reply.
The funny thing is, that I didnt have those problems with this ROM in the beginning. Everything was fine, that's why I was using it the whole time. But as I said before, it became worse by and by... thats why I thought it could be an app or so...
that would be a recent list of apps: appbrain.com/user/marioiram/
Cannot even sync my newest list, because after freezing while watching a video, it froze again shortly after reboot... still getting worse
Try reinstalling the ROM or installing another ROM.
hm.. just when I was thinking about following your advice, my desire stopped freezing xD
no crash, no freeze oder reboot since my last post.
I even tried to force it by watching videos, playing games, connect to the charger etc.
everything is fine... strange.
Will see for how long
Well this is good news. Just keep in mind what you can do if the rebooting comes back. Hope it doesn't
Well, it did xD
Now even shortly after reboot. I'll try ROM changes as soon as I get home but there's something I noticed: it often freezes when it's supposed to display a whatsapp notification and sometimes it seems there's a problem with the sdcard (just bought a new one because my old one went nuts). Sometimes the notification 'sdcard was removed unexpectedly' (translated from German) is appearing, but after waiting a few minutes everything is fine again...
Well I'll try some stuff when there's time...

I've tried my best with the search tool and google. But I cant find anything regarding my problem, thus I'm asking here (I keep finding questions from people who want random ringtone apps etc)
My phone has begun to randomly change my sounds for incoming calls, notifications etc. I usually note that it happen when someone calls and all of a sudden a random sound is played instead of the one I selected.
I've investigated a bit and found out that if I change the incoming call sound then just wait a hour or so. Then when I go back into settings again another sound is shown. And no, I haven't had the phone connected to my PC or anything like that (which I understand blocks the SD card and prevent sounds from the SD to play while connected). The sound change happens no matter how I set the sounds (via settings or via Sense/Personalize).
This just started to happen out of the blue. I've tried a full wipe of the phone while on ARHD 6.1.2. The problem was still there, did another full wipe and upgraded to ARHD 6.3.1, and its still there.
Did you try another ROM then ARHD (Such as MIUI for example) to see if it's still happening?
I havent had the time yet. But I will try. Though the problem began after a few month on ARHD 6.1.2, so my first thought was that it might not be the ROMs fault. But then again I could be wrong, will try another ROM and come back with my findings.
And I just found someone else with a similar problem; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21541054&postcount=62550
I've started getting this problem on a stock ROM after the latest OTA. Very annoying...
This is the second time i have to factory reset my phone because of this problem...
This error keeps popping up over and over and over even if i send the error report over.
The first time, i was playing a game called Death Rally and received a call while playing, after i hung up, the phone screen got locked and upon pressing the power button, i did not see the unlock screen (it is a default HTC unlock screen called Productivity).
Second time, i rebooted the phone while listening to songs using Poweramp. After the phone booted, the lock screen was missing.
on both occasions, i was able to access Settings from notifications bar, and when i did get there, the popup (in the third image below) started appearing repeatedly. I sent the error report to htc a couple of times just to stop it from popping up but no luck.
I searched online and have not come across any workarounds for this except a factory reset, which is the solution i resent because i have to download my apps / restore contacts all over again.
Hope HTC fixes this...
Anyone else have encountered this problem? if so, any suggestions on a non-reset solution?
Thanks

Same problem on One S
This exact same problem just happened to me, on my HTC One S though, after receiving an update. It started immediately after reboot. I can stop by going to Settings -> Apps and disabling the wallpaper "app". This doesn't feel like a proper solution, but it seems to work for now - maybe it can work untill a fix is released.
Yeah, i tried that last time this happened to me, i disabled everything that said 'wallpaper' in the apps. But that did not solve the problem. Its good that it fixed (even if temporarily) for you
Now that i have reset my phone for the second time, i have become extremely careful, but i still don't know what will cause this, and at what point

This happened to me again...WTF
Having the same issue here. Running stock 4.0.3, Rogers HTC One X. Doing a factory reset will fix it for awhile but the error just comes back.
I had same problem with EVO 3D, after update to 4.0.3. I tried to reset my phone to factory settings, but error was just delayed for few hours, when it started to appear again. The problem was in application called "weather provider". After disabling that app problem was solved. Try that solution.
I installed after that APEX louncher, and other aftermarket widgets for everyday using. I just don't like htc sense, but i really like their phones.
My wife's phone (HTC one X) had the same message come up today too!
Any ideas anyone on what the permanent fix for this is?
I understand that the factory reset my solve for a while, but there must be an underlying issue here.....
hi
i have the same issue with the phone and some times it keep restarting i dont know how to fix
Wallpaper / Productivity has stopped unexpectedly
The message 'Wallpaper has stopped unexpectedly' kept popping up every few seconds on my HTC Sensation XE but it was directly after I'd moved Skype to the strip at the bottom of the screen. Once I removed it, it was fine.
this worked!
Disabling the weather provider finally worked for me! Thank u so much! That pop up msg. every 2 seconds was annoying. And, trying to maneuver my way to home screen through the pull down panel using the settings. It's terrible that cell phone companies make us do factory resets and force us customers to come up with solutions to fix their problems. My phone has served me well many yrs. despite the battery dieing every hour and 3 factory resets, and constantly turning off the screen and then back on again, and all the sporadic screen clicks by itself, dialing numbers and texting people! I'm finally getting a new phone tomorrow, but at least I didn't lose my information this time. Thank you!
