First of all, I did read through other posts and they are similar but not the same as my problem and didn't resolve my issue.
I have noticed recently that when I plug my Evo in at night (samsung wall charger) the charge light comes on, and when i get up (usually about 5 hours) the charge light is still on but battery is not fully charged. this has happened twice in the past week.
Flash to this morning..... same thing happened but my phone in NON-RESPONSIVE at all. No charge light, NO power, wont turn on. I tried my car charger and my HTC wall charger that came with the Evo (it has a blackberry cable but the "pod" is HTC) and tried plugging into PC plugging in with no battery and no luck. I don't have any people readily available to borrow their battery so i don't know what to do.
I would just take it to Sprint(as far away as possible, lol) but it is rooted running Warm 2.2
what can i do?
Your cable or charger went bad, this happened to me recently, if they are verified good, then your battery discharged so low that the charger won't charge it anymore.
Bridge the terminals in parallel of a similiar charged battery for 10-15 min to bring up the minimum voltage so that you can charge it fully.
Swyped from a galaxy far far away......
Could be a bad battery, my sisters phone drained so much it had no charge light and wouldn't turn on. You could pick up some cheap batteries off ebay or just take it to the sprint store and ask them if they have a battery you could just try. Even though it is rooted, it is not like you are trying to get them to repair it...unless the new battery doesn't work.
I would think it's the battery. Normally when the battery is completely drained though I get a flashing orange light. Seems like you get no response at all. I suggest trying a different battery and if that doesn't work take take it to Sprint because if your phone won't turn on with a good battery there will be no way for the people at the store to know that you are rooted. I'd just take it to Sprint first thing. Because if it is the battery the worst that can happen is that Sprint charges you for the battery. If it isn't the battery, you get a new phone. Also if they try to charge you for the battery you already know what is wrong so you can just go somewhere else for the battery.
It could be the cable but you say the charge light stayed on so it doesn't seem like it. I have gone through 3 cables already you can get the OEM for 5 bucks on ebay.
so if i take it to Sprint and they give me a battery and thaT WORKS THEN THEY WILL SEE MY CUSTOM SPLASH SCREEn. You think they will Know what it is?
caps key seems to be broken, or i just have fat fingers

They really don't care. You act like Sprint is going to sue you and take away your phone for life or something. I took my rooted-Evo in without insurance and they allowed me to get another one for 100 bucks and added insurance to my plan WELL AFTER the 30 days after purchase. Try 6 months later. You got nothing to lose and a lot to gain.

how do i do this? They say I have to take it to a store with a tech and they will take care of it because i have insurance, but if it is just the battery then i don't want them to know my phone is rooted(whether they will say anything or not)

Then bury your phone. I do not see what all the fuss is about Sprint seeing you got a rooted phone.
got a battery. going to unroot the phone today and take it to sprint. Thanks Guys
So I recently I been noticing that my phone isnt holding its charge as great as it used to but i figured that was from my new job and its lack of cell coverage. Now this last week i have been noticing that I would hit the power button, the screen would go black but then 5seconds later the screen would come back on. Now as of 2 nights ago I cant even charge it. I changed cables and outlets. Went to two different outlets and now have it plugged into my pc. Still it just keeps it alive but not charged. Does this sound like a USB port issue or a battery. And if its battery where can I get one for cheap and fast. Thanks

You can find batteries pretty much anywhere on the internet from Ebay to Amazon. If you're replacing your battery, you may consider going with an extended one, just for the hell of it.
However, I doubt the battery is your issue. Your phone should recognize it's charging, even if your battery is having issues (to my knowledge).
Have you tried pulling your battery out, and then putting it back in and rebooting the phone?
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-x-EXTENDED-BA...838159?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item27bba466cf
There you go. 20 bucks. lol. but I'd search ebay for the best deal. The main part is the wall charger. they work wonders. the USB part of those wall charges are crap. easier to use your laptop.
well i removed the battery and now its charging. I will see if this works. I was looking into getting an extended battery I just dont want one sooo bulky.
btw, if it is charging off the phone. then you've likely been a dumbass and damaged the USB port. lol. in that case. you might get stuck with changing out two batteries daily until you get an evo 3d. :-D

I've had my phone do strange things like this as well. Pulling the battery is always my first thing before I actually go in depth on trying to figure out what the issue is.
More often than not, for random things like that, pulling the battery will fix it.
So I have a CDMA Verizon Nexus running the latest version of Bugless Beast. It's been working great for a week now, but today it's had the craziest problems.
I forgot to charge it last night, woke up to a dead battery, so I plug it in the charger for an hour, but it stays at 0 percent. It never charges at all. Then I unplugged it, the phone dies, and it can't charge at all. I take it to a Verizon store, they swap it for a new extended battery, and it boots up the phone, showing it was a battery issue.
After I come home with the new battery inserted, I notice the battery is draining again even with the new one and it's charging again.
I tried to wipe it and recover it to stock so I can see if the issues are the same with stock settings, but of course, the battery died in the middle of it all.
Has anyone had issues like this? Thanks in advance!
Try a different charged are you using the stock charger and extent ion cords?

Sorry, forgot to mention that I was using the stock charger and have tried other chargers for different phones laying around the house. When I took it to the Verizon store they also tried different chargers before replacing the battery, but it wouldn't turn on. Swapping it with a new battery worked temporarily, until it started to drain again even with it charging using the stock one.

I unfortunately can't check them now because both batteries are spent and the phone won't charge them, but if it helps at all, I noticed that it would have the charging icon on the battery when plugged in, it would say "charging" on the lock screen, but when i would check the battery stats,it would go against all of that and say "discharging" instead.
Just for my understanding: the phone is off, you charge for a couple of hours, the phone does display the charge icon when you plug in a charger, but if you try to turn on the phone after a few hours of charging it's still dead?

Almost all correct. When I say charge icon, I mean the one in the top right corner of the screen when it's actually on. I've never been able to get the black screen with a charging battery to show up at any point.
Say I have a battery that has about 35 percent juice left. The phone will be on, and I'll leave it in the charger. It will say its charging, I can operate the nexus just fine, but according to the battery stats in the settings, it's actually discharging while it's plugged in. Once it hits zero, that battery is useless.

That's what I was guessing as well. My only problem is that since it's rooted, the warranty is voided, so I can't get a replacement phone. I had come so close to bringing it back to stock and unrooting it with its last bit of battery, but it died right in the middle of it attempting to re lock the bootloader.
At this point I think I only have a few options...
1.) Buying another battery from Verizon so I have some juice for the Nexus to finish up the bootloader issue mentioned above, bringing it back to stock, then bringing the phone in to replace it.
2.) Just say I lost it and hope for the best that they'll give me a replacement one. I bought it off contract from a third party vendor which probably won't help my case, but I am insured by Verizon on the phone, so it may just work.

A third option could be lending/buying a charger that allows you to charge your battery outside the phone. I think DealExtreme sells those. Shipping takes a while though. Anyway, good luck. Hope you'll get a replacement.
Option Number 2 may not work out for you, do you have insurance?
Within a second my Captivate Glide will suddenly go to 0% power then slowly charge back up over time..or if I charge it, it jumps back up to about where it left off. And it happens pretty much every time I turn my phone on for more then 5 mins. It seems to happen while sending or receiving text? Any ideas what could be causing this or a solution?
I keep my data off, and theres 3 apps (Stock SMS Messenger, Handcent SMS, and the Contacts+ App) that can handle SMS on my phone, and I have locker pro that displays my notifications. And I also use the Nova Launcher, but thats the only app's I keep running. Maybe a conflict with the apps or a bug with one of the apps? I don't see how that'd effect the battery that much but possibly?
I've also changed my ROM a few times, but right now I'm back on the newest ICS update and I've rooted it. Maybe I need to change it again? I can't remember if this problem started happening before I did my last change.
Or maybe just a bad battery? I don't know much about batteries but I haven't had this phone long, I don't think it'd be the battery.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask and I appreciate any help!

I had about the same problem, with it working fine with a decent charge (anywhere between 30-80%), and all of the sudden it would say "battery critically low" and shut down. Putting it on the charger would often get the charge to show what it was before it freaked out.
I noticed that the battery was starting to bulge and get somewhat "mushy"....which told me the battery was probably going to explode or leak if I didn't replace it soon
I have had the phone for a year and four days, and this just showed up in the last few days...fortunately I bought an extended warranty and they will pay for the replacement battery I just picked up today.
FYI, the battery should be totally flat on both sides. Mine would wobble if I set it on a table.
Ok, TL1170, Thanks!
I already narrowed it down to my battery by the time you posted that because I factory reset my phone multiple times and changed the ROM once to see if that'd help, and it didn't..I was running out of stuff to blame it on ..
But yeah, my battery is pretty badly deformed and I just ordered a new one.
Thanks, mine is doing the same thing - about once every 2 days or so. I can see in the battery life plot that it sometimes goes from 90% almost completely vertically to 0% and then right back up to 90%. I don't see any obvious bulges or "mushiness" to it, but it doesn't seem to be completely flat when put on a table. I'll see if I can get a replacement battery, this phone was not used by it's previous owner for maybe a year or so before I bought it, maybe that might have been part of the problem.

Any time a battery is misshaped it can do the oddest things.
Pull out and visually inspect your battery. If there are any visible cracks or bulges, dispose of it carefully. Damaged lithium ion batteries are incredibly dangerous; a properly pissed off LIon will produce a sizable fireball.
If your battery looks fine, fully charge it (until your phone says "100%" or "Charged"), then fully discharge it (don't connect to the charger again until your phone shuts off for lack of power). This is to calibrate the charge estimator chip in the battery itself. Don't bother with batterystats.bin, it's completely unrelated.
If the above doesn't work, you need a new battery. If the new battery behaves the same way, you need a new phone
Happening to us too
It's been happening to my phone for a while now, but I'm usually using it while at a desk so I can keep it charging. However, it just started happening to my wife's Captivate Glide also. I checked my battery and don't notice any bulging or non-flatness... but it happens about once or twice a day now - Pretty much anytime I do anything more than make a call with the battery indicator saying it's somewhere less than maybe 90% charged. I've taken to using a portable backup battery when I'm out.
If you view the battery usage screens, you can see the cliffs where it drops from 80-90% down to zero and right back up. We've only had them for about a year, so I'm going to take it to AT&T and see if they can do anything for it... probably not.

If you're really desperate to get those particular batteries working, you could try cleaning the contacts, both on the battery and in the phone, with rubbing alcohol and Q-tips. But most likely you will need new batteries.
Battery( low power) Shut Down Issue Fixed
I also was having the "critical powerl level" shut down issue over the past two weeks. My phone is about two years old, and there was a few occasions in the past two weeks where i pulled it out of my pocket and it was off. Then this past week the phone (on a full charge) would go anywhere from around 90% sometimes %40, and then all of a sudden say "battery low" and shut off. It would turn back on, but would only stay on for a few minutes. And a few times it also got really hot. It wasnt doing this when plugged into the wall so i examined my battery and there was NO visible flaws or bulging of any kind, it looked fine. But as we all know just because it looks good certainly doesnt mean it is so i odered one on ebay for about $10. It arrived 2-3 days later and instantly fixed my problem. The phone is fine now and hasnt done anything wierd. It was the battery. These batteries have a limited life span, and very often the phone may say the battery is 76% charged but the capacity of the battery under load can still draw it down to 0%. You cant always trust the level the phone says its at. So if anyone else out there is having this power issue it really isnt expensive to find a good battery out there. The one i got was $9.98 and it is a Samsung battery identical to the one that came with the phone. Except the new one has a fresh date of 2013 on it. Very happy to have my phone back. Ive never been a part of any sites like this, but im posting here now because there seems to be a lot of people having this issue, and often someone will put a very complex procedure on these sites to fix an issue when its not always necessary. If you have the power/shut off issue like i've described here and your phone does the same as mine was its probably the battery, and for the price of a new one like i got, its worth trying.

Do you mean your usb issues? I'm going to need some clarification of what's going on, maybe a link to your other thread if you posted one that explained your issue.
But, no, I don't see how batteries can cause a usb issue. They're just for power and for NFC.

Well, I don't know if they just do that, see when I had my last nexus, and used this battery, I had random reboots, and the screen had issues. But after 2 days of use, the phone would not turn on with that battery, it would just stay off, but I could charge it. With this one, there are the weird charging and usb issues, like when I unplug the phone it still thinks it's charging, even when I turned it off it went to the charging screen. Also I'm not sure if the screen is just bad, or there is a weird burn in, but the whites look a little brownish. Also the battery life is down right horrible. The phone will charge with any cable, but only 1 of mine got the computer to recognise it but when I tried to look at the device, it would crash my computer. This is extremely weird, and I hope I didn't just waist $70 on a brick. I just want to root it, and flash some roms, once I do that I will make it my primary device. I don't know if I should buy a new battery, or not, I don't want to waist any more money.

I'm sorry for all that stuff. Looks like your Nexi (wat), as in your last one, AND current one, are having deeper hardware issues.
I've seen things like this before, mainly on Droid RAZR's. Random reboots, screen issues, and the only fix was replacing the motherboard.
