[Q] Accessories for 10.1 work with 10.1v? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Accessories

Hello everyone!
I tried to figure out if you cover this issue at another thread, but got lost in the way, so, my apologies in advance if this question has been covered.
So, does anybody know whether the accessories for 10.1 work as well with the 10.1v? Does both tabs have the same input port for charging and docking station etc?
I was thinking for example this accessories:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAMSUNG-G...AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item1c1dbb1a9f
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-S...=UK_iPad_Tablets_eReaders&hash=item1e65cd5ef9
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bluetooth...K_iPad_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item1e658b348c
Any idea if they can work on my device? Any known connectivity / size issues?
Many thanks for your help, kind of disappointed with the selection of accessories for 10.1v
G.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But:
1. HDMI adapter requires Honeycomb 3.1, so you would need to run custom rom.
2. Not sure if adapter will fit in as tablet it's few millimetres thicker.
3. As per point 1. Requires 3.1 Honeycomb, so again need custom ROM (something to do with HID devices over bluetooth, if you google it you should be able to find some more info.
Cheers

Thanks a lot!
If these are true, there's no hope...I don't want to flash my ROM, I don't know how to actually.
Do you happen to know whether samsung will have an update of the software to 3.1 for 10.1v?
Thanks again,
G.

Jasjar serial cable

Anyone know if an RS232 cable is available for the Jasjar yet or have I got to use one of these awful RS232/USB convertors?
Regards
did you ever get a lead that worked ? I can't find one and I'm trying to work out if I can hack my old IPAQ one up. cheers

A converter isn't going to work. They all require a USB Host port.
yes
also interested into this old fashionned but necessary tool to console to routers for example.
so up for this topic
I am interested also.
I was thinking about this a while back though. I think the only way this is going to work really is through a bluetooth or IR adapter.
Obviously those would require external power. Doing it with an IR adapter should be relatively easy to program, something along the lines of a PIC 16F64 or 18F452 would be more than enough. However, would it be usable? When controlling a router I would like to use the keyboard. The IR points dirctly towards the user.
However, I have little experience in how BT works, so would not be able to even think on how that would work.

Perhaps this might point you in the right direction...

Its a guide to making a GPS IRDA but I'm sure it could be suitably modified.
Bluetooth to usb
How about this: http://www.neteon.net/cat.aspx?clvl=3&c1=1&c2=177&c3=107
It's a serial to Bluetooth dongle. I don't see any WM drivers but I would think that the bluetooth stack on the latest "cooked" ROMS would support serial host since that is what most bluetooth GPS receivers use.
If it wheren't for the $108 price tag I would grab one of these myself and see if it worked.
Maybe in a few weeks. If someone else gets a chance to try this one, please post here and let us know.

External Gamepad

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knew of any aftermarket gamepads/keyboards that can attach to the Galaxy via bluetooth/micro usb.
This is due to my friend showing off his Xperia Play, which obviously isn't quite the phone that the SGS2 is. But bragging rights are always nice.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I've had a look at Zeemote JS1, MSI Chainpus BGP100, Phonejoy and iControlPad. None are what I'm after, I was picturing something that transforms the phone into something similar to the Xperia Play, but it doesn't seem to exist
Phonejoy. There's a thread about it here and it can be bought here.
Thanks
I was thinking more along the lines of something smaller, that attaches to the device? I understand that there probably isn't anything out there. But it could be something to look forward to as the phone becomes more popular
Towards the end of the thread the icontrolpad is mentioned. I don't think there's much else that works yet though.
I'd like a phonejoy personally, but that's to hook up to my 50" plasma and MHL adaptor, not really a great portable system!

That would be quite nice! It could also work well with my ASUS TF101. I guess we'll have to give it time, or give up
Thanks for your help, I appreciate it
I've always thought about getting a Gamepad then the HDMI cable. Basically playing Emulators on the big screen. That basically be making your phone a game system.
I'm running CyanogenMod, because I love it. But they haven't sorted the HDMI drivers, so I haven't got a cable yet. What would the display look like on a 32" LCD or 50" LCD? That's quite a resolution stretch!

Pretty damned good actually. Have a look at NZtechfreak's mhl gaming review on the clove blog.
I've only used mine a couple of times so far and the hd videos I've had looked sensational.
That's brilliant! I'd best get on that

Exactly my thinking too. And with phones due out next year having such powerful processors they become the perfect multi-use device.
Nice username by the way.

Have a read through some of NZtechfreak's other threads to see discussion about MHL, USB OTG, extended batteries, gamepads etc. He does user based tech reviews for Clove so is pretty knowledgeable and has access to some pretty good gear.
Edit:
Check out Phonejoy's website - they've now got MHL cables (adaptor with a 1.5m hdmi cable).

Will do, I was thinking about getting an extended battery. (Samsung just released a 2000 MaH)
But I'd need a new skin for the back cover. I'm using this one right now with the Matte finish and I love it! http://www.istyles.com/milky-way-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-skin-p-70295.html
if we're talking about gamepads,
is it possible to connect the wiimote as a mouse/keyboard?
I found Wii Controller IME but it doesnt works for me.

From memory it has been discussed before and the answer was no. At the moment the search function is down so I can't even find the thread for you...
Sorry, search is temporarily unavailable. Please note, search is down nightly from 12:30AM Eastern / 4:30AM UTC for approximately 20-30 minutes.
Edit:
It apparently works with CyanogenMOD and MIUI. It won't run on anything based on the stock firmware.

Right now, the CyanogenMod and MUIU roms don't have fully functional bluetooth drivers, due to the sheer complexity in writing them. Team Hacksung is working on this though, as far as I'm aware the only part of bluetooth that is working is file transfer.

Are you sure (I guess you are though!)? After reading through some of the threads yesterday it seemed as if people already had them working. I guess I misread/misunderstood.
I need to get some cash together to get a phonejoy, have been wanting one for a while now (just hard to justify!!).
I'm not 100% sure. That was my interpretation. I've decided to get an MHL adapter, and a Phonejoy. They'll fix the drivers eventually if they're not working already
Wiimotes etc do work with MIUI and CM already, lots of user reports confirming this.
MHL doesn't work though, and considering TV Out in the original SGS was a problem for CM developers (still not working as far as I'm aware), it may be some time before they sort out that aspect for us with our SGSIIs.
Well I just bought both, I might go back to a Samsung rom. CyanogenMod has been less than impressive with updates lately
EDIT: Is this as impressive as it sounds?

Sweet, a visit from the much quoted man himself. Now you can answer questions without me having to locate your old threads.
Having no MHL is a major for me. Why bother with a wiimote if you're playing on a 4.3" screen... Just my opinion of course. I'd much rather the Phonejoy/MHL combo.
His reviews sold me
It was a pleasure, gentlemen.

[Q] HDMI on AOSP

I need to plug my Android phone into a TV for work to display apps and Chrome browser pages in a few days, and from what I can gather it's possible. I'm running Cyanogenmod 10.2 (4.3.1) with KToonsez kernel. What cable do I need and what do I need to do to get it to work properly?

You need a MHT Compliant Micro HD to Full HD Cable. Many of the cheap cables in the market are made for Galaxy S2 with its 10 pin layout. They don't work for Galaxy S3 with its 11 pin layout. If its work related and want reliable cable then I'd suggest buy from Samsung or a Samsung Branded one on Amazon.
If you want Portable Android on TV then take a look at Smart Stick in my signature.

Thanks for the reply. My boss actually ordered some smart sticks like that, he doesn't have them yet but needs me to get them working the day of when he does get them, and wants me to test some apps to see if they scale to an HDTV properly. He knows I flash roms and such so I'm now the designated tester and installer for all our smart sticks at our upcoming conference lol.

Are they from FAVI corp ? The Sony product is also called Smartstick.
I know someone who has used these on wholesale Business use.

He ordered these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rikomagic-MK802IV-Player-Bluetooth-Android/dp/B00CRFEJCQ
It's more like an Android phone/tablet without a screen than a set top box/smart stick type item.

That's the kind I reccomended. The CPU is a Rocketchip implementation of Cortex. It "seems" ok spec wise. Any Idea what version of Android you are getting ? Rooted ?
Also please call Customer service and check their knowledge level so if tomorrow you have problem they should be able handle competently.

As far as I know, I get what it says on the Amazon page. All I will likely need is full-screen Chrome running a customized twitter feed (hoot feed) with all the status bars hidden

Oh That ? Yes fulfilled shall your wish be. Young Padawan.
I'll ask here instead of starting my own thread, I have a similar question. I had TW 4.1.2 and a S3 specific hdmi connector cable that worked just fine for plugging my phone into my tv. I've since switched to a CM11 based rom and the cable no longer works. I want to play movies from my phone on my tv, What's the best way to do this?

Verizon X8.3 VK815 HDMI Out

I haven't found anyone else asking about this particular issue. I am trying to get HDMI out on my LG G Pad x8.3 from Verizon, model VK815. I'm running latest updated stock, not rooted. Verizon just says on their website that HDMI is not enabled for this device.
I have read that the regular LG G Pad works with a standard Slimport cable. I have a Verizon LG G4 and my slimport microusb to HDMI works flawlessly with no issues. So I have to think Verizon just turned off this feature for some reason on the x8.3.
My question is does anyone know of a way to enable HDMI out? Requiring root would be fine, I just don't have any idea where to start. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
So, it doesn't look like anyone knows too much about this specific issue for the Verizon LG X8.3. Maybe a slightly different question can get pointed in a better direction. I'm fairly new to Android, leaving behind an iPhone and iPad. So I don't know too much about things that Verizon may have disabled in the past.
Can anyone recall a device that Verizon disabled the HDMI out on? If it was a popular device then it would give me another avenue to Google to see if anyone was able t get it enabled again.
Thanks.
Hello, I do not have a solution for your question, but you may be interested in trying google chromecast, I am loving it, you can mirror your device wirelessly!
Agreed...chromecast is way better
I found this out after I bought the adapter and cannot get it to work. Why Verizon turn it off??!! :crying:

MHL not working in CM12; recommendations?

I'm running the latest official CM12 ROM and can't get MHL to work. I've done some reading and found that this is an old issue and due to proprietary drivers. Is that still the case? Is there any way to get MHL working on CM12?
If not, what's a good CM-like ROM with MHL functionality? I'm not a fan of Touchwiz, and I like a pretty barebones, less-is-more approach, along the lines of AOSP/AOKP/CM/etc. I like light, fast, and stable.
Any help is appreciated; thanks.
We can do nothing since Samsung did not release any source for its driver... So MHL wont work in any CM release for our device.
That's what I was afraid of; thanks for confirming.
As to my second question, any recommendations for a nice, light, stable ROM that'll do the job? I'm looking into IronROM but I don't need all the extra apps.
ETA: Going with IronROM, and I've discovered that basically all the extra apps and features are optional. Score!

one more that i can suggest is erobot. its not in this forum. just google it. you will find it.
A quick update:
After switching to IronROM, I discovered that the MHL adapter still wasn't working. It turns out that it needs to be plugged directly into my TV, not my audio receiver; I assume that my receiver must be incompatible with an MHL signal.
I've switched back to CM and can confirm that MHL actually does work with CM12; I've got video but no audio. I've got a few more things to try (I don't know if audio was working under IronROM or not; I didn't test it, so I might switch back to see), and I'll update this post (and probably the OP and thread title) when I know more.
