I'm on rc 1 and its quite stable.. I want a less buggy nightly which has good battery life and android 2.3.5
Please help
If no such nightly is thr then plz suggest the most stable and BUG free nightly
I'm new to cm guys

the thing is our experiences with nightly builds are weird. not all will ne exactly as others say. best way is to make a nandroid back up jist in case and try the nightlys

Any bugs that can bother daily use?

Btw if i wanna move to a nightly from rc1 do i have to wipe the whole data or just wipe the cache and dalvik cache??
Or do i have to flash nordic all over again??
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App

No need to wipe data, just wipe cache and dalvik (and battery cache just in case).
Personally i wipe just before and just after flashing the new nightly, even though I'm sure the just after isn't really necessary.
So far, once you are on some cm7 version, you don't need to do anything more before flashing any other (newer or older) version of cm7.

havent noticed any bugs, so dont worry. im running on 1ghz, and watch videos for about 1.5 hours daily, gaming for half an hour, wifi constantly on, browsing for an hour, and can get 1 day out of it easily.

I'm using the 110819-nightly and I'm very happy with it. No bugs or force closes...
The battery life is better than in stock froyo.

+1 for 110819 - 110814 was good too (I can't tell the difference) so either would be a good choice IMHO....

The CM7 nighties of Defy are pretty stable. If you want 2.3.5, go ahead. Flash it. I don't think you'll face any problems.

wipe everything and flash, use ec05 still ?
wipe everything 3x, flash cm7 then flash google apps zip then reboot ?
I got the best battery life on CM7 Alpha 4. I had it barebone and underclocked to 800mhz. I got around 20 hours on stock battery. Since then I wussied out and bought an extended battery. After that Syndicate seems to be doing better than CM7!
I also got around 17 hours on Bonsai. But I couldn't handle the low memory problem.

All the info you need "should" be in the OP for the ROM. For instance SRF 1.2 requires you to also flash a kernel of your choice. Most ROMs are EXT4 these days but there are a few RFS ROMs out there. And almost all include a kernel. So if you want to try someone's recommended ROM for battery life, just remember to run several backups first, a nand and something like Titanium Backup.

I liked simply aosp, it was a good ROM. I ran the revolted kernel with it and got good battery life and performance. if u did triple wipes in cwm like u were supposed to, then it would be like starting a new ROM with nothing on it. Are u sure u flashed it right?
Edit: flashing roms on the epic is very similar to flashing them on the evo, minus the cool amon-ra recovery

When modding someone else's phone that it the kind of ROM you want. The one that makes some new graphics and keeps everything else the same. What launcher is on her phone? If it is still Touchwiz, get her to start using another launcher since a lot of ROMs remove twlauncher as bloat. I got ADW for my GF and I use Zeam. It will save you a homescreen nightmare.

well, as long as it works, then you're good to go. i always found that flashing without wiping data or restoring data from a previous flash has a tendency to cause issues with the rom later on. if u do have any problems, u may have to go back into cwm and wipe data as well as the cache and dalvik (3x/ea) then reflash your rom. but again, if it ain't broke... also, kenny said something about the touchwiz launcher... that launcher is included in the simply aosp rom under the "simply settings" app, as are the gingerbread launcher and the froyo launcher. i like touchwiz ok, i prefer the gingerbread launcher over that tho.

[Q] Games don't work on ICS... Should I reflash GB or wait?

I upgraded to ICS yesterday and I can't believe how much better it is compared to GB (in terms of UI, lag in certain areas of GB etc)
BUT, a lot of games don't work on my phone right now (like MC3, Asphalt6, BIA2, RF11, NFS HP). They usually crash within a minute..
I haven't tried these on CM7 yet, but is the problem because of ICS?
I read about this problem in older forums, but all those threads were posted with reference to older ROMS (I'm running the Apr 29 quarx rom)
So my question is, should I reflash CM7 (which I now dislike after seeing how gorgeous CM9 is) or should I wait for the next build of ICS which may tackle the problem (is it the absence of HWA that's causing the problem)?
Or option b)
Install multiboot
Create a virtual cm7
Use the virtual for all games

MC3 works great for me with ICS !
Try the latest updates of the Games!
The problem is the absence of HWA. So you're better off using any other ROM with HWA.
If you really like ICS then wait till the devs clear the problem out. You could try Quarx build which actually had partial HWA. I don't know about Epsylon's build though. I never tried that out...
i used the latest quarx build and it was a no go for me, so yeah.. Guess I'll wait

Battstats.bin is just a file that keeps the battery usage of your phone for the current session. All this BatteryCalibration proram does is delete this file, which get deleted anyways everytime your phone reboots.
You can Google about it, a Google Engineer spoke about it quite a few months ago.

I get stuck everytime unless I use the Darkside Cache Wipe. After running that, RC2 loaded like a dream. Still searching for Wifi Calling though.
*edit* I flashed RC2 from the last nightly. But everytime I would use CWM to flash the latest nightly, I would have weird errors, (stuck on boot screen, CWM wouldn't start the install process, etc.) I kept a copy of DARKSIDE CACHE WIPE and decided to try to run that prior to install. Flashed RC2, booted no problem.

It is recommended that you do a full wipe before updating between nightlies, as generally significant amount of bugs are fixed and new codes implemented, so there are alot of changes. Not doing a wipe can interfere with these changes. If you don't want to re-install all the apps again after every rom flash, try 'app2zip' from the market.
Here's the link for that app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=scd.app2zip&hl=en
It will let you pack all the apps you currently have and want into a CWM flashable zip, which you can flash right after you wipe and install a new rom to get back all your apps.

There's no porting required. Just get the firmware/stock ROM of the galaxy s2 and dig into the /system/media/audio/ui folder on your computer and there you will find all the click sounds, as well as unlock sounds. Just copy the ones you want from your computer into the sd card of your phone and then go into the same directory in your phone (the /audio/ui folder) and replace the click noises with the ones you copied over, making sure that the name of the files is the exact same as the ones you are replacing. Also make sure that the file permissions are the same as the other files in that folder. Done!
Hope that helps guys.
Cheers.
I am currently running RC2 with TDJs Venom 4 CM9 #3 Kernel. Using the badass governor to conserve battery. Usually this governor is fantastic and is amazing with performance and saving battery.
For some reason today, this ROM/Kernel/Governor combo is draining battery a lot faster than normal and I am not sure why.
2 hours ago my phone was at 100% battery. It's now down to 91%, almost a 5% drop per hour. Typically I would get 8 to 10% battery drop in 5 hours time running the badass governor. I haven't used my phone more today than I normally would, so battery shouldn't be dropping as quickly.
CPU Spy confirms my phone is going into deep sleep and has been in deep sleep for 85% of the time. That is good and that is what I want it to do. Then GSam Battery showed that a particular app was keeping the phone awake for 29mins. I froze that particular app 30mins ago and in the 30mins since I froze the app the battery still drained 2%.
Anyone else running the same setup as me and notice faster than normal battery drain?
I dont know if this has been talked about before. For the person on the other side to hear me good I have to speak louder than usual. What i mean is, that before, i was able to whisper when i was on the phone since i work in an office, but now after the last few nightlies, i have to talk louder into the mic for people to hear me good. I was running some tests myself and i find that the pickup on the mic is very low when using the phone as normal, but the pickup is fine when using the speaker phone (Im able to whisper and the mic will pick it up). I just wanted to know if this is the remains of the underwater effect that we once had?
