If you are using the stock non touch recovery you go into mounts and storage and then go down and choose mount usb

Since the RC is a continuation of the nightlies, I say stick to one thread. There's already duplicate questions on each thread and it becomes way to hard to follow 2 threads.
Just my input.

I get stuck everytime unless I use the Darkside Cache Wipe. After running that, RC2 loaded like a dream. Still searching for Wifi Calling though.
*edit* I flashed RC2 from the last nightly. But everytime I would use CWM to flash the latest nightly, I would have weird errors, (stuck on boot screen, CWM wouldn't start the install process, etc.) I kept a copy of DARKSIDE CACHE WIPE and decided to try to run that prior to install. Flashed RC2, booted no problem.

It is recommended that you do a full wipe before updating between nightlies, as generally significant amount of bugs are fixed and new codes implemented, so there are alot of changes. Not doing a wipe can interfere with these changes. If you don't want to re-install all the apps again after every rom flash, try 'app2zip' from the market.
Here's the link for that app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=scd.app2zip&hl=en
It will let you pack all the apps you currently have and want into a CWM flashable zip, which you can flash right after you wipe and install a new rom to get back all your apps.

There's no porting required. Just get the firmware/stock ROM of the galaxy s2 and dig into the /system/media/audio/ui folder on your computer and there you will find all the click sounds, as well as unlock sounds. Just copy the ones you want from your computer into the sd card of your phone and then go into the same directory in your phone (the /audio/ui folder) and replace the click noises with the ones you copied over, making sure that the name of the files is the exact same as the ones you are replacing. Also make sure that the file permissions are the same as the other files in that folder. Done!
Hope that helps guys.
Cheers.
I am currently running RC2 with TDJs Venom 4 CM9 #3 Kernel. Using the badass governor to conserve battery. Usually this governor is fantastic and is amazing with performance and saving battery.
For some reason today, this ROM/Kernel/Governor combo is draining battery a lot faster than normal and I am not sure why.
2 hours ago my phone was at 100% battery. It's now down to 91%, almost a 5% drop per hour. Typically I would get 8 to 10% battery drop in 5 hours time running the badass governor. I haven't used my phone more today than I normally would, so battery shouldn't be dropping as quickly.
CPU Spy confirms my phone is going into deep sleep and has been in deep sleep for 85% of the time. That is good and that is what I want it to do. Then GSam Battery showed that a particular app was keeping the phone awake for 29mins. I froze that particular app 30mins ago and in the 30mins since I froze the app the battery still drained 2%.
Anyone else running the same setup as me and notice faster than normal battery drain?
I dont know if this has been talked about before. For the person on the other side to hear me good I have to speak louder than usual. What i mean is, that before, i was able to whisper when i was on the phone since i work in an office, but now after the last few nightlies, i have to talk louder into the mic for people to hear me good. I was running some tests myself and i find that the pickup on the mic is very low when using the phone as normal, but the pickup is fine when using the speaker phone (Im able to whisper and the mic will pick it up). I just wanted to know if this is the remains of the underwater effect that we once had?

Make sure you have noise suppression enabled in dialer settings. If you don't, that should clear it up.

Hi all!
A few days ago I rooted my stock T989(ICS) using the galaxys2root method and everything went well. The only issue I ran into though, when I turn off my phone normally (hold power then shutdown), it will get stuck at the pink goodbye screen (as did about 3 others in the comment section of the GS2Root website). When I was unrooted, turning off the device normally, it would hangup a bit at the pink goodbye screen as well, only for about 30 seconds at the most though. In this current state, I've ran this over 5 minutes and it still stays at the pink goodbye screen.
I didn't see this to be too much of an issue since I use notification toggle, which has a a restart and power off toggle that I can access in the notification bar for rooted users. But last night I didn't charge my phone so it was dead when I woke up. The thing is, it was hot. So I'm thinking it got hung up on the pink goodbye screen until the very last drop of battery left. So it just worry's me in the long run if it happens again here and there of affecting the battery. It showed 0% when I plugged in to charge and did take a while to go past that number.
Some background:
-Completely stock rom and kernels (know nothing about flashing/intimidating to do for me as I don't want to ruin anything)-slowly looking into it though
-Only rooted because I wanted to save some game data.
-I've already done factory reset but it didn't fix the issue.
Hopefully any input will help out others with the same problem as well!

Thanks guys! So DarkSide it is then.
So in order to do this, it's essentially just like rooting, right?
This is how I'm thinking of it based on GS2Root's video:
-Boot into clockwork mod recovery
-Install zip from sd card
-Choose zip from sd card
-Find DarkSide Cache Wipe in where ever folder I put it in (which I finally found the download link and hoping this is the right one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477955)
-Choose the zip and apply.
-Done?
Are these the right steps? Or is there anything special after and/or before that I need to do? Don't have to install the DarkSide rom beforehand?
Also, would I ever need to uninstall this for an update? I just read somewhere on my drippler app that t mobile or samsung will provide a future update for bug fixes, but not jelly bean.
That's correct steps then just reboot. It's a script that does what cwm should do plus more. It will wipe both cache partitions then properly fix permissions. It's not installing anything so it won't effect any future updates. Also doesn't matter what Rom your on, it's not specific. Just a fix for cwm not working correctly.

darkside wipe deleted your rom and its data... thats what its designed to do.... do you cant go past the start screen because there is nothing to boot too... reflash your rom or get a different rom.

Superwipe will in fact wipe your ROM. Cache wipe will not wipe your ROM, and will probably help with the reboot hangs.
Superwipe is for before you flash a ROM.
Cache wipe is for problems after an install.

I've been running the aokp since build 1 and i haven't switched back to gb or ics since i think it's a huge difference from both. I like it a lot, it's very smooth, the flicker can be get rid of by choosing a few options in settings like disable hw overlay, which completely gets rid of the flicker for me. I don't use google now but the search works yeah. I get random reboots and either pull the battery or wait a few seconds and then hold down the power button until it restarts, but it doesn't bother me as much it rarely happens at important times, usually it happens after i lock the phone and put it in my pocket. Also it freezes sometimes too but not too often.

I've been using AOKP as a DD for a while now I love it. I would suggest flashing the newest nightly (9-18). It's all about preference with ROMs, I love all the ways to customize AOKP.
It's like I tell everyone though, just flash it and test it out for yourself. Always make a nandroid just incase if you don't like it you can always flash back... no harm no foul. Ever since JB leaks I haven't gone back to anything else.
You won't be disappointed. Just follow the instructions and read up on the threads before posting questions/problems because if you experience an issue chances are other people have as well and there's a fix.
Have fun!!!

Reflash... sometimes these things happen don't sweat it your phone isn't broke. I flashed an earlier build 5 or 6 times until it worked correctly.
If at first you don't succeed.....
I've just switched to ericwill's CM10 build from AOKP due to SOD issues and battery life issues.
No RR or SOD yet and greatly improved battery life so far. Been running for about 18 hours.
As a side note, I much prefer AOKP for its customization, but I'll take stability over customization any day.
Of course, YMMV.

I've run BinaryBishops, AOKP, CM10, and now Paranoid 2.13 which I've been running around 27-28 hours uptime. Only one I haven't experienced any reboots or sod or any of the like was Binarys' but Paranoid is the smoothest by far. Camera, music, keyboard all super responsive, no lag I've noticed at all. Running stock Trebuchet and haven't gutted it like I normally would, delete what I don't use and the like. Binarys night lies seem to be on hold for whatever reason

Great!
My phone started whining that it was time for an incremental update on the stock OS. I checked GooManager and saw that there was a milestone release of AOKP for d2tmo... So, here I am. Make sure that if you're coming from stock that you download the Google Apps package from inside AOKP, otherwise it will download the wrong package.
My SanDisk 32GB SD card keeps unmounting, but it was doing that in the stock OS as well. I don't have any other SD cards to test with, so I don't know if it's an OS thing, a failing card, or a problem with my reader hardware. SD card issues aside, this ROM is exceedingly quick compared to the stock OS. It's been stable so far with good battery life under the latest LeanKernel, but I've been running it for less than 24 hours.
My overall space in the OS seems pretty low though, I have a 16GB phone and the Storage tab indicates that I have 12.05GB of space, with 8.70GB available. How can I wipe whatever is using the other 4GB and recover it for my use?

What did you dirty flash from?
I'm TIRED of flashing (app happy gal -- it takes FOREVER to reinstall and re-set up all my apps, even with TiBu), but if I can do a quick and dirty flash from JB Build 5, I will give it a go.
Hello,
I recently did my first flash for a custom rom (AOKP Build 4 + Oct 1 Nightly http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1828728), and followed the instructions well I think.
However, I noticed that upon reboot (after flashing) that I get the message: "Unfortunately, the proces.com.android.phone has stopped."
It also randomly shuts down.
I've gone through the thread and am aware of the bugs, but I'm not sure that the shut down counts as a "reboot" and I'm not sure where I went wrong.
If anyone can lend a hand, it would be much appreciated

Hi,
Thank you for the quick reply!
Is this essentially re-flashing my phone? I did that twice already but it has not solved the problems (with factory/cache, dalvik wipe; installation of rom+gapps; then cache reset).
EDIT:
I guess I should add just now when my phone "shut down", I tried to get it to boot into recovery (Volume buttons + power), which resulted in my camera's flash going off a few times, and vibrations (but screen was black) :\ Phone restarted normally after I let go of the buttons though.

Yes, basically (it cleans up the ROM to a fresh state). Can you explain in further detail what you mean by random shut downs? Does this happen while using the phone or when the phone is idle?
Why don't you flash Aokp jb milestone 1. Its the latest build and is more stable.

My phone essentially goes black, only displaying "Samsung" in white. It occurs while in use, but I haven't noticed any relation to the app being used (sometimes it occurs while I'm texting, others when I'm browsing).

It may be a kernel issue with the ROM you are using, the governors/schedulers may not be working properly. As 6Seven had mentioned, try flashing one of the more up to date ROMs and see if the issue persists.

Thank you (I apologize, 6Seven, I hadn't figured out the multi-quote button in my previous post and couldn't post for 5 minutes afterwards).
Also, thank you FineTalent.
Could either of you link me to the T989 download page for this? I tried to Google it but couldn't find the right model for it

Hit the image on the right of my signature. You'll be directed to one of the All-Star Devs ROMs, if you look through the OP there will be an All-Star AOKP Rom variant that will be just as solid or even better than the one 6Seven had mentioned. Also, just keep in mind the devs of the All-Star team are currently working on an update for the All-Star AOKP ROM, so keep an eye out for it. Good luck!

Thank you both! I will re-flash my phone tonight and edit this post if all goes well ^^
EDIT: So far, so good! I still get the "Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped" when I boot up, but other than that things seem fine so far
Thank you both once again for your help!

I just re-flashed to one of the all-star ROMs, and so far so good! I never changed the dpi settings though (wasn't sure what it did so I didn't touch it).

Haven't touched CM10.1 nightly ROMs for a while. But the LED Notification stopped working, stayed on an older version of CM10.1 nightly.
Gonna try that when I get home. Also PA made it to this device. Also the Jedi mind trick Roms. So many options. Wow head's spinning.
Leaning towards CM10.1 though.
No signal, can't play video
I was using CM10.0. Updated CM10.1 with corresponding gapp.
-Can't register on cellular network anymore. Can't set AWS frequency in the factory testing mode.
-All of my Video apps start legging, play videos for a little while and quit after about a minute, say video format not supported. Even though the video is mp4 format and it was playing it before quitting.
How should fix it? Flash kernel? Which kernel should I use?

Had some problem with radio but I just had to update to the latest version and everything else looks fine
I tried to resist flashing this ROM but had to give in to temptation. Said to myself no more flashing when I got into boot issues with JMTJB6. Odin flashed stock and left it unrooted! Was happy...but then temptation. Happy I did it, rock solid, butter smooth, doesn't seem to have any lag.

Thanks that did the trick. I was going mad at why the LED notifications stopped working.
Also still on the non-touch recovery, 5.0.26 the one that needs the Darkmod scripts to wipe cache and do full installs.
Also had to turn sensor on/off before it actually worked. Read that from another post from someone that helped me.
Thanks again dude.

Sure, no problem , and consider upgrading to 6.x.x recoveries, no scripts needed!

I just had two random reboots, it might be related to bluetooth.
Scenario 1: Answered a phone call via steering wheel controls in the car. Phone reboots
Scenario 2: While connected left the car car. Phone reboots.

Flash video was not smooth for me. Even with latest Adobe update. But no MHL to TV support was the deal killer. Other than that it was fine.

Are you using a custom kernel? And did you wait the 10 minutes after the flash?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
No custom kernel. Flashed it days ago...reboot occurred today...Yes I did wait the 10 minutes after initial flash.
Is this a known problem? Would a custom kernel like uber kernel be more stable? I really like this ROM so far as is.
