Basically, I've been using AuraxTSense for a long time now, and once Neo started to implement the Transparent Theme, so I've been sticking with older versions just because I'm not happy with the Transparent Theme. I've now bit the bullet and updated to the latest version, but now there's something I want.
Android Stock has some nice icons, and I'm really not keen on the HTC Notification Bar Icons, I want the icons from stock (like Neo has done in the past, and continues to do) but I have no idea how to do it. I've opened up the framework-res.apk with winzip, browsed in there, found different images etc in there, but I don't know which ones to change.
I hope someone understands what I'm saying!
Dan

Hey guy I came from an incredible and switch over to the evo, and there was one rom on the incredible that was amazing, fast clean, looked good. It was called incrom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=815103.
The question I have is can this be ported to EVO, if not how would I theme my stuff to look like this using one of the common roms? I love the dialer specifically, and some of the notification bar icons and such?
Is there updates I can just install in recovery that will theme this stuff for me, do I have to find a way to build my own. Just looking for info on this.
Check out the development and themes sections, I have seen dialers that look just like that one many times.
Riptides thread has a HUGE selection, look here
I'm running the most recent official Sprint ROM. Rooted of course. There's a theme I've found that is for a more recent build of Sense. I already converted the clock over to Fancy Widget Pro but the espresso (dock) and taskbar match perfect and it looks awesome. I got into the new ROM's rosie.apk and found the necessary files that make up the taskbar and espresso (dock) so my question is this:
Can those files be renamed and placed into the old rosie.apk from the rooted original Sprint ROM and installed over the existing one to update the dock and taskbar? I've poked around in the old rosie.apk and found that it seems to be put together a little differently. I'm feeling like that's precisely the problem and this isn't possible, but I wanted some experts' opinions.
Thanks guys.

Png are not coded anyway to match a certain Rom or device. They're just an image.
Rosie for sense 1.0, has more dependencies in com.htc.resources.apk. Ie, the dock icons are located in com.htc.resources.apk (res/drawable-port-hdpi/).
But thee is an alternative and that is to rewrite rosie where all of its pieces are located in rosie.apk and do not deal with com.htc.resources.
Aamikam rewrote the regular app, phone, custom rosie to support this. I made one with phone, app, custom. Anyways, click on my themes thread in my signature. Go to my rosie galore. Find the ones that say they work for all Sprint ota 3.70 based roms. Those are all inclusive. Feel free to use it as your base. Just give a shout out to where you found it if you post it. Thanks!

As you didn't know I'm new to all this, however I was able to get my phone rooted and loaded with Jugg 4.0 with the ICS theme. My question is when I go to the theme forum there is a thread where people are posting all these different themes. Are they creating these themselves or are they getting them from another sources. I dont see as many themes in the theme forum that are showing up in the theme thread.

The thing is , most themes have to be made for individual ROMs so things don't break ..
Since a new build is out the KL1 , you may not find many themes yet. But be careful, you must make sure that any themes you do find here or other places are compatible with your specific ROM/Build ..
Flashing a theme from the wrong build can cause boot loops or worse ....

Thanks for your replay, so when I see the ADW Launcher app how do I know what ROM that is for?
ADW launcher is an app which works for any rom. It basically allows you to customize your phone however you want it. It has a ton of customization for your home screen and launcher but thats pretty much all it does. I bought it on the 10day sale and i love it. There is also a function in the setting which allows you to search the android market for tons of custom made themes, mostly free but some are paid.
Plus if ur running cm7 it comes with a theme chooser, and that has hundreds of themes
Thanks for the info and the caution on using theme's.
There are a few things that I have noticed from a noob's perspective in regards to theme's. Its clear from the "post your homescreen" thread in the themes forum that there are hundreds of themes out there. It also seems that many of the users are running juggernaut ROM. From what I can see posted in the themes forum, there aren't many themes made specifically with Juggernaut in mind. There seems to be a large difference in the number of themes offered from Jugg in the Theme forum to the number of different themes people are posting in the theme thread. I'm curious as to where people are grabbing these themes from. Is it from the ADW app in the market place?

What you are mainly seeing is Launcher themes and widgets , there are many launchers that can really be customized, and it can make your phone look totally new ... ADW, Launcher Pro, and my favorite Go Launcher EX. With the launchers it is much easier to change Icons, colors and such ... Widgets can change the whole look of your phone as well, something IOS can't do, so iphone people see it and think it is something totally custom when it is simply placing the right widget in the right place, which I think is quite funny ...

Thanks you for the explaination, I think I pretty much have it now.
For the sake of anyone in the future searching XDA and my post comes up. Ultimately like tcboo mentions your going to want to use a launcher you can download from the app market. I downloaded ADW and what was tripping me up with ADW is that its sort of a hidden app in the since there isn't an icon into the your application area to run it. When you hit your home button your phone will ask you if you want to use ADW or TouchWiz as a launcher. Choose ADW however don't set is as default until you are comfotable with it. To get to the setting of ADE you will hit the menu button to the left of your home button and hit more, then click on the more button and select ADWSettings. From here is where you can tweak the settings of the launcher and apply new themes you downloaded from the app market.
I know everyone has their own preferences and reasons for using a particular launcher, but I love the smoothness of the stock launcher and have modded mine enough that to me it is just as good as any other launcher. My only issue now is the placement of the all apps icon. I've been working for about a week and a half trying to find the code that forces the icon to the far right and have come so close to pinning it down but still haven't found a solution. I know that it could easily be fixed in the ICS seclauncher, but the JB one seems to use a completely different method of putting that icon in a foreign layout position.
I've been reading the actual java code in eclipse on one screen, and making my smali edits on another. Logcatting has been the most help, but now I'm totally stumped. If anyone else has attempted this, please share any info you might have.
