first, excuse me for the english. ok, i installed the cyanogenmod and then i wiped the memory and the cash because i wanted to give the defy to other person.
so i installed the cyanogenmod from the card - the stable version or something similar - and that was all. the phone get stuck on the motorola logo, and can't get in recovery mode, only have the bootloader, and tried to install different ROMs, but the result is always the same - it can't boot and get stuck on the logo.
anyone can help me, please?
i did have the same did u soulve that proplem man !?
nope, i'm trying almost every advice that i can find in the net, but still no results.
hopefuly someone here can help to solve this issue.
What is the EXACT ROM you flashed at first, and what are the others you tried flashing?
Can you get to stock recovery?
Go into bootloader, plug in your phone, use rsd lite to flash an .sbf.
Edit-
If its stuck still, try now to enter recovery, clear cache, then factory reset. Happened to me when i tried to install CM7 from stock 2.2
this should get it stock again.

@iYossi i flashed JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_177-005_NORDIC_SIGN_SIGNED_UCAJRDNEMARAB1B80AA03A.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNFRYORTNORD_P003_A001_HWp3_Service1FF then i tried the same and few others.
and no, i can't get to stock recovery i have access only to the bootloader. when i flash a ROM with RSD (the latest version) it get fine until the moment it tries to boot, then the RSD tell me that i have to boot the phone manualy and then it stuck and go to nowhere
@dyinghero27 i can't enter into recovery.
No, not recovery, load bootloader, flash with the newest stock sbf (think I seen 3.4.4 in Dev forum)
Edit* just like I suspected, I'm pretty sure your having problems with downgrading, you need to flash the newest sbf.

anybody has an idea what i can do?
I have the same problem, if I put the battery in a cel from a friend and let's take a charge, until I make time for the 2.2, then I put it loads to 2.2 in normal outlet ....
but I'm still the problem with the Motorola logo, so I can enter the bootloader, I can not get into recovery, do not know what to do ...
sorry for bad english
so i installed a lot of different versions on the defy and the result is the same, the phone get' stuck on the motorola logo. can anyone help me, please?
ok i tried a version that seems to work but now the display doesn't start. i have the defy connexted via usb and when i push the power button it connect/disconnect to the pc but the display remains off.
why i think that this version seems to work? because when i flash it to the defy it reboot the phone and says pass. the other versions stucks on reboot and the RSD says that i have to reboot manualy but the phone stucks on the motorola logo.
anyone have an idea, why the display is off. when i try to flash the phone i have no problems.

Hmm, sure you have the right sbf and it didn't corrupt in download? Also do you gave the latest Motorola drivers, if so even uninstalling and reinstalling them might help. The other thing I can think of is a virus or an antivirus that could be interfering?
Sent from my DROID2 using xda premium
i´m not sure if i have installed the right sbf, because i tried various and only this one seems to work ... partly. the others stuck on the motorola logo when RSD try to restart them, after the install. i suspect that this has to do with my empty battery.
i´ve cutted an usb cable and connected the red and the black wire directly to the pins, because i had the "the battery is low ... cannot program" problem, but i'm not sure if this is sufficient to get it back again.

Few days ago I moved from HTC Desire to Defy.
I did root it, installed 2ndInitRecovery. After rebooting I couldnt get defy booted from 2ndInit and ended upu bith black screen. Still dont know why but I uninstalled 2ndinit and ended up stuck on motorola logo, I still can get into bootloader thou.
When tried this solution:

RSDLite can see phone connected but there is no info about it (IMEI etc)
and updade doesnt start.
Anyone to help?
if you are on eclair froyo or leaked gingerbd try to set normal boot on sndinit
trouble is that I uninstaled 2ndinit recovery
if rsd can still see it and u can get into bootloader just flash a different rom onto it,i had similar and then flashed the uk 2.2 retail it came str8 back to life!(then i installed CM7...)

What version of RSD Lite are u using??
I had the same problem no IMEI or other info only N/A when i used the latest RSD Lite problem was solved.
Win 7?
I have been through the same problem and was wondering what os you were using?
I had very little success with win7 x64, I had to get virtualbox and create a win XP virtual machine to make it work.
Also, in order for RSDlite to see your phone, you have to turn the phone on while pressing the volume up button, that'll get you to the bootloader and then RSDLite will see it.
I suggest you use this SBF: JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_179-002, it is the CEE one and I found it was the easiest SBF to allow custom rom and such (linky)
I hope that helps.
Good luck!
RSD have never seen my phone (i mean model, IMEI etc) but it still worked without any problems
Im using 5.3.1 version. The only info I got is
Bootloader version: v0x000910
Ap Die ID: 18100005cdf767010000dcff0200
Rest of details is N/A

As long as the phone shows up in the device list on RSDLite and that you can put your Defy in bootloader mode, you should be good to go.
RSDLite never gave me accurate details about the phone when I had these issues but I was always able to flash SBFs.
I did manage to flash SBF and root my defy. The only problem is that I cant download anything from market.
Any suggestions?
If you try to download from a GPRS or 3G network, disable the download from wi-fi only tab from settings and data management.

Go to recovery wipe cache/data
Sent from the Nerd Herd using Tapatalk
Go on the CM7 thread. End of first post and download the latest google apps from there, reboot in custom recovery (CWM recovery or SndInit recovery) and flash the zip.
Re. your bootloop problems:
did you turn off usb debugging after installing Sndinit and did you reboot 2 times (1st boot --> normal then 2nd at blue led, volume down?) ??
If you would have followed the FAQs of CM7, you would have had no such problem....
Hi,
i had cyanogen 7 on my phone, and did one of the noob's mistakes of installing the 2ndinit (where the bootmenu is already installed).
it didnt even seem to install it (it said "failed"), but then i rebooted, and there you go- boot loop.
so i was calm since i've already faced boot loop with another defy, i started flashing an SBF using RSD lite 4.9.
every service flash i tried didnt work, it either-
said "please manually reboot the phone"- followed by a boot loop,
or
said "PASS", but then there was black screen with no booloader option.
then i moved to RSD lite 5, then 5.3.1- nothing works...
i read all the boot loop related threads in the defy, but i cant see anyone with the same problem of boot looping no matter which rom and which RSD lite version...
please help me!
Go to stock recovery after the sbf and wipe data/cache. With the Phone off press VOLUME DOWN then, while still pressed, power up the phone and leave VOL key pressed until you see a Yellow triangle, once you see this you are in Recovery now press Vol Up and Vol Down at the same time (if you are in Froyo) and the menu will appear.
Edit:
Don't worry about the please manually reboot the phone instead of PASS. Happens a lot.
Also, I send a PM to total defy guide to add this.
Updated the Guide
I actually got this same issue myself.
Found the culprit was the SD Card, if you dont do a full wipe (Data/Cache) using Stock Recovery some files remain on the SD Card that prevents Android from booting correctly.
that makes sense,
thank you so much for the quick response!
the thing is currently the only response i'm getting from the phone is the white led when connecting to the PC, meaning vol up,down, or power don't do anything...
I, myself am in a loop, tried so many SBF, some brought me to the not responding state, and some to the boot loop state.
i'm currently stuck in the "not responding" state,
so i'll try to get back to the boot loop state and follow your directions.
i didn't know i can reach the stock recovery that way...
tell me- i have another defy, do you think i can use it's SD card in this defy or is it too risky...?
Just put your defy in your pc. If the let is white let it rest for a while so you won't run out of power when you flash. then open rsd lite and flash a froyo sbf (I hope you didn't flash an 2.3.x gingerbread sbf). Let the phone power up for +- 10 min. If it isn't powered up by then, or you see the boot animation then black and again the animation, you have to wipe data and cache in stock recovery.
This isn't CWM recovery that is used to install CM. Only use this recovery for this occasion. If you have flashed an 2.3.x sbf, you will only see the motorola sign when you power up your phone and the wipe won't helpe. Then go to the defy beginners guide of Zephyrot and follow the instructions there.
mmm, it does look like you flashed a Full Gingerbread SBF.
If any Eclair/Froyo SBF is giving you blackscreens even after a fullwipe with stock recovery, after a full Stock SBF flash; is because you are probably on CG v5, meaning you flashed a Gingerbread SBF .
If there is no way for you to recover the phone using Froyo/Eclair SBFs, go to the Guide and search the part on how to Downgrade from Official GB to a Froyo rom, and then how to go from there to CM7.
Last part just got added,
Good luck
i did try gigerbread, and i think from there on it got worse...
I cant reach stock recovery now since the phone is not responding...
isnt there any way to wipe using the RSD lite or maybe some other program which will recognize my device...?
ADB of course does not see it...
the thing is the RSD keeps saying "PASS" each time, so i unplug it, but then it wont power up...
are you saying i should leave it plugged for a while although the RSD says it's complete, or do you think i whould unplug it, and hold the power button for a long time...?
Man, if you tried Gingerbread, you dont have many options.
Please read the Guide completely before running out of battery, and then do the last part that explains how to recover your problem.
I'm a woman, but that's ok
so i've followed your instructions from 1 to 9,
last step was deleting the data and cache, then rebooting (using "reboot system now" in the bootmenu),
but it keeps going back to the bootmenu...
I don't want to do any foolish mistakes now, so i'll wait for you reply-
can i install the MIUI zip already...? is it safe?
i'm shutting down the phone now, and waiting for you...
you have no idea how much you've helped until now,
thanks!
in bootmenu go to boot-->then choose either 2nd init or stock cant remember but one of them should boot and not get stuck

Oops! sorry had no idea!
It defaults to Bootmenu unless you specify it not to do so.
In bootmenu you should have an option to either make 2nd-init or Stock your default Boot.
Choose 2nd-init and reboot, you should be good to go
First boot into normal Froyo charge battery to 100% and then try MIUI.
I dont know if it will work tho! I added yesterday a new Part to the Guide to install CM7 after a full GB SBF has been flashed.
Its really really hard to kill a Defy, so dont worry too much if you run out of battery there's a McGyver way to charge it too.
I had the eternal bootloop issue as well, I just fixed doing all wipes necessary before installing any kind of rom
well, i didnt want to wait, since i was afraid leaving it in bootmenu would run the battery out, and taking the battery out was a risk too...
so i decided to flash the MIUI before even booting into the froyo i just flashed (the one using the fixed SBF you posted...)
and it worked, and i'm happy with my beautifull rom
oh about the battery charging- i have 2 defys, so no Mcgyver for me...
anyway, Zephyrot, i liked your guide,
i think it's very well written,
i only have one question for future knowledge-
in the state of having the Eclair V5, why is it impossible to flash the MIUI/CM7 straight from that point...?
thanks again,
Elinor.

Well, I first thought it would work, but it doesnt. Another user had the issue and he got stuck into bootloop after installing CM7 zip. It has to do with 2nd-init and the way you have to trick the phone to load an Eclair/Froyo Android while having a V5 CG.
It seems it works only with the goAPK Recovery or the old 1.4.2 2nd-Init.
now google apps not responding
Hi again,
after problem was solved, i installed some applications, and at some point, all google applications seemed to stop working, including the market.
for example when hitting settings->accounts, it says: "the application settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again"
so i started over with the full SBF in your tutorial (wiped data, cache, dalvik)
and even with this rom, you can't use any google apps...
i've been searching for threads on this issue, but all i could find was "do factory reset", which i did, and it didn't help...
can you think of what could cause this?
it seems like some basic files are missing...
thanks!
Well, let me tell my story:
I had the "Battery Low - Cannot Program", so I tried the MacGyver and it worked. However, when I used it, I flashed it into a Chinese sbf, it was working perfectly but I needed to change it.
So I was rooting the phone, but when the RSD finished, it didnt boot.
Here is the situation: My defy doesnt boot, cant go to bootloader or recovery mode, doesnt show the Motorola Logo. The only thing that shows is the White LED when I connect it via USB to the PC. It is also recognized by RSD lite.
So, I guess I need to install another sbf, but it doesnt go to bootloader, and I guess my battery is not charged enough. And I cant use the MacGyver to refull the battery.
OMG WHAT SHOULD I DO? IM FREAKING
it came back to normal, all I had to do is to flash the rom that i used before
I have a E988 indian version which is stuck at boot with the "secure booting error cause : Boot certification verify",
I can get only into download mode and no recovery or can not boot into OS,
Earlier when i was in the situation i could get into download mode and use LG support tool to flash stock, But now i am getting battery low error..
My question is "Is there any way to recharge the phone if stuck at secure booting error or in download mode ?"
I tried offline KDZ flashing also but there also i was getting battery low error.
Thanks

Try a factory reset by holding power and volume down at the same time. Press power button to confirm reset. If you do this, sometimes it will reboot you in to recovery, if not try it again and this time manually enter recovery.

I hate that stupid low battery message. It's so dumb that they do not allow you to continue at your own risk. I have also had this problem going from AOSP back to stock. The only safe way to do it is using LG Flash tools first, then flash one of those stock zipped roms. Now it is too late for that. Do they sell your handset in the country you live in? If so, they can fix it in store in most cases. For me, they don't sell this phone in my country, I was just lucky enough to be able to continually try to factory reset and then my phone randomly booted in to recovery (don't know why or how, it just did). After that, I flashed lockified TWRP and CM11 again.

Hey, My G Pro is on Miui and everything works fine on it. I can enter recovery mode and all that. This is what I did by accident
The problem, as I see it, is once you root your phone and put the custom recovery on it, CWM or TWRP, it overwrites your factory recovery. I tried using a 10k flashable zip I have to get my phone back to stock. BUT once I tried to get the OTA update to 10P, as another member here pointed out, My phone boot looped. So my question is, is there a way to remove the custom recovery and restore the stock recovery WITHOUT having to go through the PITA process of using flash tools? If there is a way it would save people countless hours fixing their phones just to get an update.
I know many of you don't see this as an issue because your whole point IS flashing new Roms. But from everything I have seen of this phone it's more trouble than it's worth. This phone is so very picky it's ridiculous. I just wnna get the damn 4.4 update, have it rooted to remove bloat, and call it a day. But to answer the OP question, you always have the option of buying a battery station online and charging your battery that way.
Fixed low battery error
My friend managed to fix the low battery error. He tested the method on my phone and during flashing the error did not show up. Will be creating a new thread which fixes the low battery warning soon. Stay tuned !

Nice work. And that thread will definitely help allot of others with that issue.
TL;DR
Aside from all the technical stuff, and since the g pro has a removable battery(thank god for that) there are several chargers that you can use which charge the battery outside of your phone. Here where i live (honduras) I have seen quite a few and had one myself(used it to charge spare batteries).
hi all im hoping u can help me i have an xperia play which i tryed to root using cynogen mod 12 but it fails on install it will then reboot and show the blue cynogen logo but sit thier untill battery pull. i can access cyonogen recovery but thats all. ive tried installing other roms such as 9, 10 and 11 but all do the same thing (although 11 does seam to install/unpack).
i unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone successfully. i also used flashtool to flash the boot.img.
i have heard i could fix the problem by sideloading another better recovery tool but i dont know how to do that. as off now im stuck in cynogen recovery.
any advice you could give would be greatfully appreciated, at this point im completely out of ideas and if you need anymore info i would be happy to provide it
thanks in advance
Hi,
It would be nice if you linked the exact ROM you tried to flash on you phone. It sounds like the boot.img is incorrect.
You can try flashing this kernel forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804003 . This one is for ICs roms(4.0.x).
Or this one - for Jelly Bean versions(4.1-4.2) - forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861970 .
All you have to do, is boot into fasboot mode and flash the given .img file as boot.img. (The difference between 480p and 720p kernels, are that 480 can't capture 720p videos, but sometimes 720p kernel doesn't work with all roms).
hi tnx for the help the rom i tried to install was cm-12-20150314-UNOFFICIAL-LegacyXperia-zeus
i think your idea would work but im unable to boot into fastboot mode as i used flashtool before and it doesnt recognise my phone anymore ( i dont know if i can use ADB as that option is available on my boot loader)
if you could provide me with a link to how to flash a new .img/rom using another way other than flash tools that would be really helpful. im sry to be such a noob, i have rooted every phone i had and never encountered this problem before and am completely stuck.
tnx again for your help

Well you could try to return to point zero by flashing your phone to stock rom and try to begin from there.
You can do that by using flashtool and downloading stock ROM from these forums.
BTW, you can enter flash mode by inserting usb cable and holding search button(i think, you can try other buttons). Your LED has to turn green, blue is fast boot.
Also if your flashtool give you errors, download earlier version (see some other threads about flashtool, there are links to older version). Maybe it doesn't recognize your phone, because of the new version, i've had problems with it too, but i had to download old version and everything started to work as expected.
